• Problems with IRQs when connecting two digium card in and asterisk box

  I have two Digium Wildcard TDM800P with 8 FXO ports each. When I connect both at the same time IRQ misses start showing up making my computer unresponsive and unusable. One card works fine but I need all 16 FXO ports to work to receive calls from my Telco. Is there a way for the cards to communicate with each other so they don't generate as many interrupts. Or a way to tweak Linux to dedicate separate IRQ's for each card. I have tried disabling Audio, ACPI and USB ports. Still too many IRQ misses.

• How to add .Net3.5 dll into .Net2.0 project?

  I have a dll which is based on .net 3.5 -- it uses internally for example Linq, but the exposed API is straightforward, no fancy stuff. Since C# generics are resolved at compile time I assume that for calling party all it counts is API (all public parts). However when I try to use this dll from net2.0 project I get info, that the dll cannot be referenced because the dll or one of its dependencies requires a later version of .net framework. I can install any .net version I want on target computer (when entire app is installed), but I cannot change .net version for the project itself. So: how to solve this? When adding a C dll to this project I had no such problems, so are C# dlls self-contained or not?

• How do I use a batch copy to update files?

  Hello, I need help writing a batch file to update templates on a database. Basically, all our clients have their own folder, with multiple templates inside. Due to the computer illiteracy of my office (sigh), there's no real better way to fix this. However, I need a way to update those templates in a batch. For instance \\SERVER\New Client Template Folder\Correspondence\Transmittal Letter.WPD is updated. I then need to copy it to: \\SERVER\Client Files\Client 1\Correspondence; \\SERVER\Client Files\Client 2\Correspondence; ...etc. Essentially, I need to copy to \\SERVER\Client Files\\*\\, and I need to make it a batch file that I can train someone else to use whenever I leave this job. How can I do that? Thanks.

• getResourceAsStream returns HttpInputStream not of the entire file

  Hi, I am having a web application with an applet which will copy a file packed witht the applet to the client machine. When I deploy it to webserver and use: InputStream in = getClass().getResourceAsStream("filename") ; The in.available() always return a size of 8192 bytes for every file I tried, which means the file is corrupted when it is copied to the client computer. The InputStream is of type HttpInputStream (sun.net.protocol.http.HttpUrlConnection$httpInputStream). But while I test applet in applet viewer, the files are copied fine, with the InputStream returned is of type BufferedInputStream, which has the file's byte sizes. I guess that when getResourceStream in file system the BufferedInputStream will be used and when at http protocol, HttpInputStream will be used. How will I copy the file completely, is there a size limited for HttpInputStream? Thanks a lot.

I'm trying to make a media Download bar for Chrome Browser like Real Player's one ( a DLL plugin ): Whenever you open a web-page which contents "media stream" like Youtube..., it will show a download bar at the left-top corner of the flash player - allow you to download this video/song to your computer. I know it use NPAPI to catch the media stream but how? Which method do I have to use? Is there any document for me? I have never worked on a NPAPI-project before. • What do you tell people your profession is? [closed]

  My technical title is Member of the Technical Staff, and like you most of you, I design/write code for a living. I can never decide what to answer when someone asks what I do for a living? Software Developer? Software Engineer? [Kernel] Programmer? Computer Scientist? These all seem to have various bad connotations. I guess I like Software Engineer the best, but unfortunately this term has been coopted by people who don't actually code. I made the mistake of taking a 'Software Engineering' class, and realized that I definitely don't want to be associated with people who major in this. Probably this is too subjective, so feel free to community wiki it or whatever, but I think it is a valid question and I would like to hear what others have decided on and their reasoning.

• Put a program in the system tray at startup

  Hi I followed the commonly-linked tip for reducing an application to the system tray : http://www.developer.com/net/csharp/article.php/3336751 Now it works, but there is still a problem : my application is shown when it starts ; I want it to start directly in the systray. I tried to minimize and hide it in the Load event, but it does nothing. Edit : I could, as a poster suggested, modify the shortcut properties, but I'd rather use code : I don't have complete control over every computer the soft is installed on. I don't want to remove it completely from everywhere except the systray, I just want it to start minimized. Any ideas ? Thanks

  I want to copy a mysql database from my local computer to a remote server. I am trying to use the mysql dump command. All the examples on the internet suggest doing something like The initial mysql> is just the prompt I get after logging in. mysql> mysqldump -u user -p pass myDBName | NewDBName.out; But when I do this I get You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds ... to use near 'mysqldump -u user -p pass myDBName | NewDBName.out' Since I have already logged in do I need to use -u and -p? Not doing so gives me the same error. Can you see what is wrong?

• IIS 8 - PHP Manager - Enabling php_oci8.dll for Oracle Connection

  I would need to connect to Oracle DB in my PHP codes. I'm using Windows Server 2012, IIS 8 with PHP Manager. I opened IIS PHP Manager, then go to PHP Extensions, then I enabled "php_oci8.dll" extension. However when I tried to connect to Oracle DB I'm getting the following PHP error: PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function oci_connect() I just restarted the IIS using the IIS Manager, but didn't done computer reboot. Do I need to reboot? Do I also need to download "instantclient-basic-windows.x64-12.1.0.1.0.zip"? If yes, do I just need to set it to classpath "Path" where I extracted? • Missing DLL Problem

  Hi everyone. I have a C++ native application that was built under VS2005 (sp1),On machine A. (Debug Mode) Now,I need to run this application on a "clean" computer, Clean means it has no VS installed on. When i copy the runtime folder from machine A to the "clean" machine and try to activate the application it demands to reinstall the application. obviously missing DLLs are causing this problem cause on machine A the app works just fine, Is there any "clean" solution for this kind of problem besides gessing which DLLs are missing ? maybe a smart tool or installer that indicates which DLLs are missing at the runtime ? • Can't compile grails Tomcat plugin

  I'm using Netbeans to build a Grails app, while I have used this fine before on this new computer I can not get even the basic project to compile and run. I am getting errors around compiling the Tomcat plugin. If I uninstall the plugin it and use Jetty instead it will compile but the project isn't set up for Jetty and is missing files. Below is the error I'm getting I'm thinking it is some issue with my classpath but I just don't know where to start any help would be much appreciated. java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/catalina/startup/Tomcat$ExistingStandardWrapper

• How can I deploy a Perl/Python/Ruby script without installing an interpreter?

  I want to write a piece of software which is essentially a regex data scrubber. I am going to take a contact list in CSV and remove all non-word characters and such from the person's name. This project has Perl written all over it but my client base is largely non-technical and installing Perl on Windows would not be worth it for them. Any ideas on how I can use a Perl/Python/Ruby type language without all the headaches of getting the interpreter on their computer? Thought about web for a second but it would not work for business reasons.

• Is it better to adopt the same technologies used at work to be effective on your home projects ?

  Is it better to start developing an home project using the same technologies used at work to be more productive and effective? I'm not talking about a simple hello world web page but an home project with all bells and whistles that one day, maybe, you could sell on internet. This dilemma is often subject of flames between me and a friend. He thinks that if you want to make a great home-made project you need to use the same technologies used daily at work staying in the same scope too; for example, a c++ computer game programmer should develope an home-made c++ game. I'm pretty sure that developing using the same technologies used at work can be more productive at beginning, but surely less exciting and stimulating of working with other languages\ides\libraries out of your daily job. What's your opinion about that?

• Is there a Javascript library for editing PDFs?

  Based on my Google and stackoverflow search I'm guessing no, but it can't hurt to ask. The goal is: store some blank forms on my server. Then present these to the user, who edits the form in the browser with Javascript and submits the form back to the server. The client wants to reuse parts of an old system (the forms) in which users would download an editable PDF, edit it, and email it back to a secretary. Our users aren't very computer savvy and many don't realize they need to email the forms back, assuming instead the forms somehow get submitted when they save their local changes (or something). I haven't seen the forms yet, so I cannot assess the viability of an alternative.

  Hi, In my application I need to display items to the user. He can mark some items as favorites. I need to display those differently. How can I save the favorites on the user's computer? I need something like a config entry ... but I need to change that as the user add/remove the favorites. Do you think that I should save that in registry ... or on the disk in a separate file?   I have a .NET project that uses Crystal Reports. The application is distributed using ClickOnce. Things work great if the user has Crystal installed on their computer. However, not all of the end users have Crystal Reports installed on their computers. These users are receiving the following error... "Unable to install or run the application. The application requires that assembly CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.XmlSerialize Version 10.5.3700.0 be installed in the Global Assembly Cache (GAC) first." Is there a way to force ClickOnce installs to ensure that a prerequisite is installed?

Ad random computers are added and removed. Is there any open source project or algorithm that could help us visualising this in VB.net? Or would you suggest us to switch to java.   I'm new to cookies, and im trying to set a cookie where to store the referrer (the org ref). But when i use this and lets say i go to another page in my site and then go back to the homepage its sets a new cookie with the exact same name and with the ref of the previous page. Is there away to avoid this?

• Where do Java Applets live?

  I'm trying to figure out where java Applets that I run from the browser get downloaded to. I'm using Firefox 3.0 on Windows XP with Java 1.6 if that makes any difference. From the Java Control Panel on the toolbar, I can access "Temporary Internet Files - Settings" to find the Java cache. From there I can show the resources and see a file called "dws2010066.dat". Does this resource correspond to a file on disk? I did a search in the Java cache (and my whole computer) but came up empty handed.

• SSL: can the secret key be sniffed before the actual encryption begins?

  I was looking into SSL and some of the steps that are involved to set up an encrypted connection between a server and a client computer. I understand that a server key and certificate is sent to the browser, and that a secret code is being calculated, like they say in the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQsKdtjwtYI around 5:22, they talk about a master secret code that is being calculated to start talking in an encrypted way. My question now is: before the connection is actually encrypted (the handshake phase), all communication between the server and the client can be sniffed by a packet sniffer. Isn't it then possible to sniff the encryption key or other data that is used to set up a secure connection?

• defining information out of class

  is there a way to define a value within a class in the __init__ part, send it to some variable outside of the class without calling another function within the class? like class c: def __init__(self, a): self.a = a b = 4 # do something like this so that outside of class c, # b is set to 4 automatically when i use class c def function(self): ... # whatever. this doesnt matter i have multiple classes that have different values for b. i could just make a list that tells the computer to change b, but i would rather set b within each class

  I'm designing a programming language, purely for fun, and want to add as many experimental features as I can, just to make programming in it something completely different, and that not in a bad way like Brainf*ck or Malbolge. However, I seem to be quite bad at coming up with new things for it but I'm sure that there are tons of things out there that have been talked about but never really tried out. What experimental language features or concepts not implemented in mainstream languages are there at the moment? E.g: If I asked this in, let's say, 1960, an answer could be "Object-oriented programming". I'm sure that there are a lot of unimplemented ideas computer-scientists have (recently) come up with, at least I was told so.

• Discovering the default gateway without DHCP

  A crazy question, but is there anyway to discover the default gateway without DHCP? This would be for a device on a network which does not use DHCP which does not have an IP address as yet. I was thinking if I could discover the default gateway, then i could try to guess an unused ip address then broadcast on the network to see if it's being used. I may be asking for trouble i understand. E.g. if there is already a computer which has a static IP and is shutdown.

• PC reboots spontaenously: debugging tips [closed]

  I swapped my core 2 duo for a quad core recently, and generally things run fine, but every now and then my computer just restarts. I don't even get a blue screen (Vista 32). Core temp isn't a problem. My thinking is that my power supply is inadequate, but I haven't been able to test that (one idea was to under clock the cpu to see if that helped, but going up in speed was the only simple thing to do in the BIOS) Two cases where I semi-consistanly get problems: - Borderlands windowed after some period of time (and some other games, but Borderlands does it pretty regularly) - watching a video (e.g. quicktime/vlc) and having another video running Another thought is non-cpu heat? Maybe the graphics card? Any thoughts on how to track this down appreciated. Thanks!

• Cant get Tomcat6.0 to work with Windows 7 Environment

  Prior to upgrading to windows 7, I was able to use Tomcat 6.0, but when I upgraded to the new Windows, and downloaded Eclipse EE, and downloaded the apache content, I am unable to get Apache to run. When I attempt to start my apacher server through either system tray, or even windows services, it gives the followign error screen. "Windows could not start the Apache Tomcat 6 on local computer. For more information review the system event log. Refer to server specific error code 0." I have been able to locate some forums about error code 0, and some other documentation on this problem, but none of the solutions seems to work. One of the solutions I came across said to take the msvcr71.dll (mscvrt.dll on new platforms) and put it into the bin folder of apache. This also did not work. Does anybody know a fix for this problem, or a way to get around it so I can get my server up and running thanks.
