• gem install cannot find a header file

  Following along the github README for talib_ruby: sudo port install ta-lib Complete. Next is where the trouble begins. sudo env ARCHFLAGS="-arch PLATFORM" gem install talib_ruby -- --with-talib-include=ABSOLUTE_PATH_TO_TALIB_HEADERS --with-talib-lib=ABSOLUTE_PATH_TO_TALIB_LIBS This install fails I believe because apparently it cannot find the ta_abstract.h file talib.c:2:25: error: ta_abstract.h: No such file or directory . . . many more errors I have included in my .bash_profile file the following: export ABSOLUTE_PATH_TO_TALIB_HEADERS=/opt/local/var/macports/software/ta-lib/0.4.0_0/opt/local/include/ta-lib export ABSOLUTE_PATH_TO_TALIB_LIBS=/opt/local/var/macports/software/ta-lib/0.4.0_0/opt/local/lib And indeed the ta_abstract.h file is located where I'm saying in the ABSOLUTE_PATH variable assignment. What gives?

• How can I change the filename of a shared library after building a program that depends on it?

  I have a program that depends on a shared library it expects to find deep inside a directory structure. I'd like to move that shared library out and into a better place. On OS X, this can be done with install_name_tool. I'm unable to find an equivalent for Linux. For reference, readelf -d myprogram spits out the following paraphrased output: Dynamic section at offset 0x1e9ed4 contains 30 entries: Tag Type Name/Value 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [this/is/terrible/library.so] 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libGL.so.1] 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libGLU.so.1] 0x00000001 (NEEDED) Shared library: [libstdc++.so.6] and I would like to errata "this/is/terrible/library.so" to be "shared/library.so". I know about RPATH and it isn't what I'm looking for, I don't need to change search paths globally.

• deploying flex on tomcat

  Hello, I am using Flash builder 4 (SDK3.5) to create my flex program. I want to deploy this program and load it to a tomcat server. I configure my "flex server" root folder and other parameters in the project properties. The problem is, that i don't know how to make it generic. e.g. my friend's tomcat is installed in other directory on the computer. I know that in eclipse i can run the server and tomcat from the IDE. I can't see how i do it in Flash builder plugin for eclipse 4. There is a server configuration, but there isn't adapter for tomcat. Any ideas? thanks.

• UNIX-style RegExp Replace running extremely slowly under windows. Help?

  I'm trying to run a unix regEXP on every log file in a 1.12 GB directory, then replace the matched pattern with ''. Test run on a 4 meg file is took about 10 minutes, but worked. Obviously something is murdering performance by several orders of magnitude. Find: ^(?!.*155[0-2][0-9]{4}\s.*).*$ -- NOTE: match any line NOT starting 152[0-2]NNNN where in is a number 0-9. Replace with: ''. Is there some justifiable reason for my regExp to take this long to replace matching text, or is the program I am using (this is windows / a program called "grepWin") most likely poorly optimized? • Visual Studio creating bin/ folder in wrong location.

  In Visual Studio 2008, I have a solution with a number of projects. Each project has the same build output path of "..\bin\Debug\" for debug, and "..\bin\Release\" for release. So the directory structure looks like this: solution\ bin\ project1\ project2\ project3\ This all works fine, all the assemblies go to the correct location when I build the project, etc. Howevever, when I first open the solution in Visual Studio, an empty bin folder is created one level up from where it should. So I am getting: bin\ solution\ bin\ project1\ project2\ project3\ This folder is only created when I first open the solution. Never when I build. I have looked through the .sln and every .csproj file, and I cannot work out why this folder is being created. So, my questions are: a) Why is this bin folder being created? b) How do I stop Visual Studio from creating this bin folder?

• Test for external undefined references in Linux

  Is there a built in linux utility that I can use to test a newly compiled shared library for external undefined references? Gcc seems to be intelligent enough to check for undefined symbols in my own binary, but if the symbol is a reference to another library gcc does not check at link time. Instead I only get the message when I try to link to my new library from another program. It seems a little silly to get undefined reference messages in a library when I am compiling a different project so I want to know if I can do a check on all references internal and external when I build the library not when I link to it. But I didn't figure out how to do this with OpenNetCF and mapitdotnet isn't available anymore on the sourceforge site (http://sourceforge.net/projects/mapidotnet/). I only found it on the svn directory, but there are no dlls.

• Multithreaded FTP upload. Is it possible?

  I need to upload multiple files from directory to the server via FTP and SFTP. I've solved this task for SFTP with python, paramiko and threading. But I have problem with doing it for FTP. I tried to use ftplib for python, but it seems that it doesn't support threading and I upload all files one by one, which is very slow. I'm wondering is it even possible to do multithreading uploads with FTP protocol without creating separate connections/authorizations (it takes too long)? Solution can be on Python or PHP. Maybe CURL? Would be grateful for any ideas.

• ant - trying to copy to /lib/endorsed, library is not available in windows 7 to the next task

  On Windows 7 I have an ant target that copies a xalan library into the jdk endorsed directory so that the next xslt transformation task can occur. The first time that the ant target runs, the xslt transformation fails. The second time it runs the jar file is already in the correct place and the xslt tranformation succeeds. The first time that the ant target runs, it looks like the file copied successfully. It feels like a timing issue, but I don't know what I can do to get around it. Here is my copy task: <mkdir dir="${java.home}\lib\endorsed"/> <copy file="${basedir}\xalan.jar" tofile="${java.home}\lib\endorsed\xalan.jar"/> Has anyone seen anything like this before?

  ok, so what i'm trying to do is to scan the "previous" folder. $scanned = scandir(".."); foreach($scanned as $file){ if(is_file($file)){ print $file."<br />"; } } even though in my ".." directory i have 20+ files i get just three rows index.jpg index.php template.dtd i noticed that if i don;t use that is_file if clause it returns all file names; but i really need that if clause.

• Issuing native system commands in Scala

  I want to issue a native system command from a Scala program, and perhaps trap the output. ("ls" comes to mind. There may be other ways to get directory information without issuing the command, but that's beside the point of my question.) It would correspond to os.system(...) in Python. I've looked in "Programming in Scala". I've looked in O'Reilly's "Programming Scala". I've Googled several combinations of terms. No luck yet. Can someone out there give me an example, or point me at a resource where I can find an example?

• File modified date/time changes when uploaded via FTP

  Hey /g/, FTP/PHP question here. On one of my pages I load .txt files from a directory. Pretty simple. I also display the modified date of the text file using this: date('m/d/Y', filemtime($file)); This works fine on my WAMP server but when I upload the files via FTP, the modified date is changed to when they were uploaded. I'm currently hosting on a free hosting provider (freehostia to be exact). Is there any way to keep the modified date/time from changing when it's uploaded? Or is there perhaps an alternative way to go about this? Any ideas are appreciated.

• How do you unpack gems using jruby on rails 2.3?

  I'm trying to unpack all the system gems to end up with a standalone Rails directory including all the rails gems and all the system gems. I'm starting with a bare rails setup; just did a jruby -S rails and a 'generate jdbc'. I then add a config.gem 'jdbc-mysql' to environment.rb and do the jruby -S rake gems:unpack:dependencies. After unpacking, if I do a rake I get: no such file to load -- jdbc-mysql Is there something else you need to do to get the jdbc gem unpacked? I'm using jruby 1.4.0 (and moving to 1.5 is on my todo list) and rails 2.3.8.

  I have a git alias (git undo) that undoes everything in the working directory, including new files, changed files, and deleted files: !git reset --hard && git ls-files -d | xargs -0 git rm --ignore-unmatch && git clean -fq On OS X, this works great. On Linux, however, I run into the following issue: if no files have been deleted from the repository, the git ls-files -d | xargs -0 git rm --ignore-unmatch command will fail (xargs will be passed nothing). Is there a way to have xargs silently move on if it receives nothing from git ls-files?

• Localizing other pages in Settings.bundle

  I have other pages within my app preferences which are stored as separate files within the settings.bundle. It has come time to localize my app and I can only seem to get the Root values to localize. I was wondering whether there was a trick? The following image shows that my second screen is stored within a file called "MyPrefs.plist" and I have created a corresponding named file "MyPrefs.strings" in the en.lproj directory. Mirroring the same naming and location as the Root.plist and Root.strings. The values with the Root.plist are converted as expected but not in the extra screen. Is there any trick to localizing secondary screens with the settings.bundle?

• classic asp & .net 2 site not working on windows 7

  I am receiving the following error message: An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator. If you are the system administrator please click here to find out more about this error. I have my site in the inetpub directory in a subfolder called website. I have also gone to add/remove windows compononents and had asp installed. In iss manager I have asp listed with defult settings. The initial website page is a classic asp page Has anyone else encountered this issue? Please help! • What could cause ASP.NET's executionTimeout to not be enforced running under IIS?

  I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem, but I'm unable to reproduce it locally under IIS because no matter how low I set executionTimeout, the requests never time out. I've tried setting this via the web.config (, via code (Page.Server.ScriptTimeout = 5;). I'm running with binaries that were compiled in release mode, and debug=false is set in the compilation element. FWIW, under Cassini (the standalone development webserver), everything works as expected, running out of the same directory off of the exact same assemblies/config files. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

  I'm running into a few problems with adding gae-sessions to a relatively mature GAE app. I followed the readme carefully and also looked at the demo. First, just adding the gaesesions directory to my app causes the following error when running tests with nose and nose-gae: Exception ImportError: 'No module named threading' in <bound method local.__del__ of <_threading_local.local object at 0x103e10628>> ignored All the tests run fine so not a big problem but suggests that something isn't right. • git can I speed up committing?

  I have a big repository in a shared folder. I use git from within a VM on that folder. Everything works nice, but the repository is big and git's searching through all directories and files when committing is slow. I cannot move this repository out of the shared folder. I tried to git add specific files and directories, but when I do git commit -m "something" it still goes off onto it's oddyssey through the directory tree. Can I do commits that ignore the rest of the tree?

  I decided to use Dynamic Data Entities website in vs2012. So, I created this website,then added App_Code directory and added a new edmx to it and named it myDB.edmx. After that I uncommented the code line in global.asax which registers the entity context : DefaultModel.RegisterContext(typeof(myDBEntities), new ContextConfiguration() { ScaffoldAllTables = true }); But when I run the website this error occurs : The context type 'myDBEntities' is not supported. how can I fix it? p.s: You now there are some differences between using L2S by Dynamic Data L2S website AND using entity framework by Dynamic Data Entities website.

• SQL decimal conversion error

  Hey, my app parses numerous txt files in a directory that are almost all formatted identically, then inserts the values into columns of my sql db. However, there are a few files that the app has come across where a value is 'blank' instead of '0.0', so the application fails stating that it cannot convert that value to numeric.   I'm trying to set up a simple clojure project, and I'm not sure how to load files between the project. I'm sure that the answer is in the documentation, but I can't find a simple answer any where and I'm not sure where to look. Essentially, my directory looks like this: Clojure/ clojure/ clojure.jar other clojure files clojure-contrib/ clojure-contrib.jar other contrib files project/ main.clj utils.clj And I want main.clj to be something like this: (ns project.main (:require project.utils)) (greet) and utils.clj to be something like this: (ns project.utils) (defn greet [] (println "Hello, World!")) But that fails with: Exception in thread "main" java.io.FileNotFoundException: Could not locate project/utils__init.class or project/utils.clj on classpath: (main.clj:1) When I attempt to run it. How do you set up a simple clojure project?
