• How do I get google guice to inject a custom logger, say a commons-logging or log4j logger

  Google guice has a built-in logger binding (http://code.google.com/p/google-guice/wiki/BuiltInBindings). But what if I want to use a commons-logging or log4j logger? Can I get guice to inject a Log created by LogFactory.getLog(CLASS.class) But having the same behavior as in built-in binding: The binding automatically sets the logger's name to the name of the class into which the Logger is being injected.. Does it even makes sense? Or shout I simply use the built-in java Logger? Or just use commons-logging without injections?

• Problem using yaml-cpp on OS X

• Normalize FFT magnitude to imitate WMP

  So, I've been working on a little visualizer for sound files, just for fun. I basically wanted to imitate the "Scope" and "Ocean Mist" visualizers in Windows Media Player. Scope was easy enough, but I'm having problems with Ocean Mist. I'm pretty sure that it is some kind of frequency spectrum, but when I do an FFT on my waveform data, I'm not getting the data that corresponds to what Ocean Mist displays. The spectrum actually looks correct, so I knew there was nothing wrong with the FFT. I'm assuming that the visualizer runs the spectrum through some kind of filter, but I have no idea what it might be. Any ideas?

• producing pixel-identical images of text between Sun Java and OpenJDK

  My release script produces images of the version number to save me the trouble of manually going into the MoinMoin wiki software and changing it by hand for each release. Unfortunately, since the fonts look a little different on each platform's JVM, the result is ugly. I solved the the font inconsistency by using Lucide Sans (comes with every Java system). (Loading Fonts from TTF files was another option, but was buggy on Mac Java). The result is much better, producing the exact same image on Mac/Windows (), but a slightly different one on OpenJDK (). I believe this is caused by OpenJDK having a different font rendering system (as opposed to different fonts). Is there any way I can get all three of my target platforms (Sun Windows, Mac, OpenJDK Linux) to produce images of text that look identical?

  Hi guys, my first post here :) I'm having a small trouble with a small but boring problem. I have a view, with a NavigationController. I load in the NC a simple view. Inside this view there's abutton where I fire the presentModalView... in the main view, not on NC, but it's parent view: ABVIEW NC NEWVIEW new attach a presentModalView... on ABVIEW, so [abview present...]; No problem till now. When it's the time to dismiss, after the temporary window (let's calls it NOTES) disappear, my ABVIEW with all the subviews change Y position from 0 to 20, the same height of the status bar. I was looking everywhere and I'm sure it's a stupid thing, but I miss a bit of knowledge here and I have no idea where to find the solution. thanks in advance!

  I observe that placing the following in an external script file has the desired effect in my copies of Firefox and Google Chrome: var s = document.createElement('script'); s.setAttribute('type', 'text/javascript'); s.setAttribute('src', 'http://www.example.com/external_script.js'); s.onload = function () { doSomethingNowThatExternalScriptHasLoaded } document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].appendChild(s); It adds a an external script tag to them DOM, and attaches a function to the tag for when the script has loaded. I'm having trouble testing in Internet Explorer right now, but I'm not sure if it's related to that addition in particular, or something else. Does this method work in the more modern versions of other browsers, including IE7/8? If not, how else could I go about this?

  Hello, A Facebook Sync app filled the address fields of my Mac Address Book contacts with their cities. Having tons of people who have useless addresses makes it difficult to search by people on Google Maps app (ending up scrolling through many many people- I only want to see those who have proper addresses entered). I want to clear all the home address fields in my address book using applescript. I wrote something small but couldn't get it to work, probably needs some help from somebody who knows applescript :) tell application "Address Book" repeat with this_person in every person repeat with this_address in every address of this_person if label of this_address is "home" then remove this_address from addresses of this_person end if end repeat end repeat end tell I tried to deduct the logic of multiple addresses/phones from other scripts but could only find adding them, not removing them.   We have a Java application which needs to communicate with a peripheral device over Virtual Serial COM port. We use the RS232 Java COMM API (javax.comm.properties, comm.jar, win32com.dll) to achieve the same. Currently the code works fine on Windows XP 32-bit, Vista 32-bit and Windows 7. However we are having a problem trying to communicate on Vista 64-bit. I read from the Java forums that there is no 64-bit support for the Java COMM API I was wondering if anyone was facing a similar situation and were able to resolve the same in some way?

I have a live site that navigates to a login page at http://www.monkeycalendar.com/arvindkt/login.php That login page includes a root.php file that is found at http://www.monkeycalendar.com/arvindkt/root.php Live site works great. • A very weird problem with texbox control in C# .net

  Well i know textbox is a very simple user control, perhaps the first input control ever made. I have been facing a very frustrating problem with this simple control. I programatically add a textbox in my user control. From ui i am able to edit it like a normal textbox. however, i am not able to read the user inputed value in the program. my program all the time sees the old value with which my text box was initialized. i textchange event getting triggered but the value never gets updated. This seemingly looks to be some innocuous bug in the code, but the program is very simple and it does not seem to be having any bug. Any guidelines on this issue?

• ImageView scale type not working in list activity

  I have used ImageView's before and understand the different scale types that can be set... However I am having an incredibly difficult time trying to get an ImageView to scale properly in the row of a ListActivity or an ExpandableListActivity. I have tried setting the android:scaleType property to every single value but the image never scales down. I have set the min and max sizes as well and they don't seem to have any effect. I have done both of these things in both the XMl and in code to no avail... Does anyone have any ideas or perhaps a workaround? Thanks in advance!

  I'm having a hardtime trying to install pyactivemq (link) on my osx leopard. Following a tutorial (in portuguese) on compiling it ends up ok, but when I run the tests i receive only a crypt message: "Fatal Python error: Interpreter not initialized (version mismatch?)" There is not much information on the web about using pyactivemq on osx, but what I could find is that is something related to wrong linking when boost compiles. I'm running: Mac OS 10.5.8 MacPorts 1.8.2 APR 1.3.9 Xcode 3.1.4 Boost 1.41.0 (installing for python 2.5) Activemq-cpp 2.2.6 pyactivemq 0.1.0 If someone has any info on this it would be helpful

• Vertical mouse scrolling wheel not working in VS 2010 Ultimate

  The title says it all. I tried it with two different mice- both of which work perfectly fine in all other applications. The mouse is MS Intellimouse Optical. I even tried to speed up the vertical scroll through the mouse utility and still nothing. It barely moves the code a tiny bit and then it stops. I had no problems at all with VS 2008 which is concurrently installed in the same machine. Am I the only one having this???

• jQuery UI Slider - Animation of handle and scroll content not in sync

  Im having troubles getting the jQuery UI Slider customized for my purposes. On load the slider and its content should automatically animate to a certain position. Ideally it should animate to the very right, then stop and then animate back (as a loop) as long as the user doesn't hovers over scroll content or slider. Even if I click on the slider track itself the animation of scroll content and slider handle are not in sync. Does anyone got a solution?

  Basically, what I want to do is join 4 tables together and return 1 row for each boat. Table Layouts [Boats] id, date, section, raft [Photos] id, boatid, pthurl, purl [River_Company] id, sort, company, company_short [River_Section] id, section Its very simple as far as structure, however, I've having the time of my life trying to get it to return only 1 row. No boat will ever be on the same day, the only thing that's messing this up is the photo table. If you know a better way for it to return the record table for all the boats boats and only 1 photo from the photo table, please, please post it!!

• Linq to Sql saying that item by 'Customer' already exists. Choose a different name.

  I have been going round and round with a linq to sql file while using svn for quite some time. The latest is that my dbml file shows as having an error which states that An item named "Customer" already exists. Please choose a different name. And then it repeats that again. In fact, it says it for almost every object. What is my fix? I have tried renaming the one named Customer, but that didn't fix it. I don't know where to go to fix this. I went to the .dbml file and don't see any duplication, and I went to the .dbml.layout file and didn't see any duplication there either.

  We are currently installing the latest version of Django and Python on IIS6. We have followed the instructions on the following site: http://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/DjangoOnWindowsWithIISAndSQLServer We are receiving a 403 error when trying to access our Django application via the IIS server. We have verified the python installation on IIS6 and it is working properly. We have also verified the Django installation. Our application runs fine under the built-in Django server, but we are having difficulties getting it to run under IIS. We presume we could be getting errors from "Linking Django to PyISAPIe" section of the instructions provided on the link above. Thanks.

• Php code not executing - dies out when trying to create an object of class - no error displayed

  I'm having some problems with this piece of code. I've included a class declaration and trying to create an object of that class but my code dies out. It doesn't seem to be an include issue as all the files are being included even the files called for inclusion within the class file itself. However the object is not created - I tried to put an echo statement in the __construct function but nothing it just doesn't run infact doesn't create the object and the code won't continue from there - plus no error is reported or displayed and I have error reporting set to E_ALL and display errors set to true WHats happening here :(

Scenario When customer signup at my form, I will 1. insert the customer details into my own database, 2. send them a welcome email from my system, 3. at the same time I want the email to be added into aweber (this should run in the background, so that customer no need to fill in details for second time) If I use the php curl call alone, is it a good solution? I want to submit form value to aweber, so that aweber add the new email into their system, and then response to my backend script?   Hi, I have used the excellent gskinner.com/RegExr/ tool to test my string matching regex but I cannot figure out how to implement this into my jQuery file to return true or false. The code I have is as follows: ^(http:)\/\/(.+\.)?(stackoverflow)\. on a url such as http://stackoverflow.com/questions/ask this would match (according to RegExr) http://stackoverflow. So this is great because I want to try matching the current window.location to that string, but the issue I am having is that this jQuery/js script does not work: var url = window.location; if ( url.match( /^(http:)\/\/(.+\.)?(stackoverflow)\./ ) ) { alert('this works'); }; Any ideas on what I am doing wrong here?   Hello. I am working on a PHP project. There, I often use following syntax to output text in a cluase: if($boolean){ ?> output text <? }else{ ?> alternative <? } On my computer, this works perfectly well. I use XAMPP foer Mac OS X. But when I send the files to my coworker, these outputs often do not work and the compiler complains about having reached an unexpected $end of file. This occurs especially often when there is a tag in the output. We have to replace the means of output with echo. What's the reason for this strange behavior of the compiler? Is the above-mention syntax of outputting text wrong?

  Hey folks, I've been told that I can only record streams with flash media interactive server. I already have Flash media streaming server running to stream flvs. it would seem to be trivial to set up the interactive server, and adobe obliges me by having a developer download. however, once I extracted that download, it appears to contain just standard flash media streaming server? is adobe screwing with me? the more I look into this the more it seems that nobody is actually differentiating between the two except adobe (who charge $1000 for fms, and $4000 for fmis).

  I admittedly don't know much about JQuery but I have an AJAX page where I need to trigger a click event when someone clicks a button, but because the button is not there on the initial page load, I'm having issues using the click event. As a matter of fact, with GeoDjango powered Admin application we all have a great possibility to view/edit spatial data, associated with the current object. The problem is that after the objects having been populated I need to render several objects' associated geometry at once on a single map. I might implement it as a model action, redirecting to a custom view. I just don't know, how to include the OpenLayers widget in the view and how to render there my compound geometry from my GeoQuerySet.
