  • Unicode replacement characters for text matching

    I have some fun with unicode text sources (all correct encodet) and I want to match names. The classic problem, one source comes correctly, an other has more flatten names: "Elblag" vs. "Elblag" (see the character a) How can I "flatten" a, á, â or à to a for better matching? Are there unicode to ascii- matching tables?

  • Oracle sample data problems

    So, I have this java based data trasformation / masking tool, which I wanted to test out on Oracle 10g. The good part with Oracle 10g is that you get a load of sample schemas with half a million records in some. The schemas are : SH, OE, HR, IX and etc. So, I installed 10g, found out that the installation scripts are under ORACLE_HOME/demo/scripts. I customized these scripts a bit to run in batch mode. That solves one half of my requirement - to create source data for my testing my data transformation software. The second half of the requirement is that I create the same schemas under different names (TR_HR, TR_OE and so on...) without any data. These schemas would represent my target schemas. So, in short, my software would pick up data from a table in a schema and load it up in to the same table in a different schema. Now, I have two issues in creating my target schema and emptying it. I would like this in a batch job. But the oracle scripts you get, the sample schema names are not configurable. So, I tried creating a script, replacing OE with TR_OE, HR with TR_HR and so on. However, this approach is kind of irritating coz the sample schemas are kind of complicated in the way they are created; Oracle creates synonyms, views, materialized views, data types and lot of weird stuff. I would like the target schemas (TR_HR, TR_OE,...) to be empty. But some of the schemas have circular references, which would not allow me to delete data. The only work around seems to be removing certain foreign keys, deleting data and then adding the constraints back. Is there any easy way to all this, without all this fuss? I would need a complicated data set for my testing (complicated as in tables with triggers, multiple hierarchies.. for instance.. a child table that has children up to 5 levels, a parent table that refers to an IOT table and an IOT table that refers to a non-IOT table etc..). The sample schemas are just about perfect from a data set perspective. The only challenge I see is in automating this whole process of loading up the source schemas, and then creating the target schemas and emptying them. Appreciate your help and suggestions.

  • Can standard Sun javac do incremental compiling?

    Recently I started to use Eclipse's java compiler, because it is significantly faster than standard javac. I was told that it's faster because it performs incremental compiling. But I'm still a bit unsure about this since I can't find any authoritative documentation about both - eclispse's and sun's - compilers "incremental feature". Is it true that Sun's compiler always compiles every source file and Eclipse's compiler compile only changed files and those that are affected by such a change?

  • How to start / stop internet sharing using apple script

    i dont have a wifi router, so when at home i need to turn my laptop into a wifi source so that both myself and my partner can access the internet. however during the days i work at a coffee shop and require the use of their wifi. i'm running snow leopard and i find it stupidly cumbersome to constantly be turning off and on, first internet sharing and then my wifi. any ideas for a quick n dirty applescript solution? thanks a bajillion! I have found Lemmon but it seems to be a dead project. The last checkin was in mid 2009... :-/ There is also a eclipse blog entry from april 2009, but it's not a real success story. Has anyone successfully used OSGI in a GAE app?

    Hi, I am using jqueryui autocomplete widget for autocompleting a 'country' field but I am facing an issue. Suppose the user enters "in", I want the jqueryui to list countries like 'india', 'indonesia' which start with 'in', but it also lists the countries which have 'in' somewhere in the name (like: argentina).   • AudioQueue in-memory playback example

All the examples I can find play from files (using AudioFileReadPackets) but in my particular case I am generating the data myself in realtime so ideally, I want to enqueue the data myself rather than sucking it out of a file using the callback.   • Consuming SharePoint Web Services fails when behind Proxy server

    Hi All, I've seen a number of post about consuming Web Services from behind a proxy server, but none that seams to address this problem. I'm building a desktop application, using Java, JAX-WS in NetBeans. I have a working prototype, that can query the server for authentication mode, successfully authenticate and retrieve a list of web site. However, if I run the same app from a network that is behind a proxy server (the proxy does not require authentication), then I'm running into trouble. The normal -dhttp.proxyHost ... settings does not seam to help any. But I have found that by creating a ProxySelector class and setting it as default, I can regain access to the authentication web service, but I still can't retrieve the list of web sites from the SharePoint server. Anyone have any experience on how to make this work? I have put the source text java class files of a demo app up, showing the issue at the following urls (it's a bit to long even in the short demo form to post here). link text When running the code from a network behind a proxy server, I successfully retrieve the Authentication mode from the server, but the request for the Web Site list generates an exception originating at: com.sun.xml.internal.ws.transport.http.client .HttpClientTransport.readResponseCodeAndMessage(HttpClientTransport.java:201) The output from the source when no proxy is on the network is listed below: Successfully retrieved the SharePoint WebService response for Authentication SharePoint authentication method is: WINDOWS Calling Web Service to retrieve list of web site.   • Speed Problem with Wireless Connectivity on Cisco 877w

    Having a bit of a weird one with my local LAN setup. I recently installed a Cisco 877W router on my DSL2+ connection and all is working really well.. Upgraded the IOS to 12.4 and my wired clients are streaming connectivity superfast at 1.3mb/s. However, there seems to be an issue with my wireless clients - I can't seem to stream any data across the local wireless connection (LAN) and using the Internet, whilst responsive enough isn't really comparable with the wired connection speed.   • Good places to share and showcase software on the web?

    Quite simply: is there a place such as DeviantArt, but purely for the purpose of sharing software (and source if preferred)? I'm aware that DA has plenty of software, but only related to customisations and UI hacks. I recently came across some really useful apps I had made from way back and besides posting it on an online code hosting site or a personal portfolio that no one will ever find, is there some more community-ish places on the internet I've missed out on where coding mercenaries share and show off?

I would like to use BDB-Java Edition but the product is closed source and my company doesn't want to buy BDB-JE License.   • json-framework error in iPhone static library

    I have an iPhone app that uses the json-framework. I moved some of the code, including the json-framework source, from the main project to a static library. When I did this, the json-framework stopped getting compiled into the binary (double checked with class dump). This causes a nasty error: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** -[NSCFString JSONValue]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x43897f0' Everything else in the static library continues to function properly.

  • Shut down windows service based on load

    Hello, I was wondering if there are any free / open source solutions that will start and stop a windows service based on load? I have some pubsub subscriber services that do background work which is not critical. Ideally i would like tot be able to automate things so that these services could start if memory/cpu/disk i/o was under a certain threshold and stop gracefully if that threshold was met.
