  I have a WF service with a custom activity and a custom designer (WPF). I want to add a validation that will check for the presence of some value in the web.config file. At runtime I can overload void CacheMetadata(ActivityMetadata metadata) and thus I can do the validation happily there using System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager to read the config file. Since I also want to do this at design time, I was looking for a way to do this in the designer.

The problem is that the height doesn't behave like the height of an image.   When I try to select the following "File Open Web Site" or use the shortcut key "Shift + Alt + O" (which does the same), Visual Studio 2008 hangs with the loading mouse icon for about 8-10 seconds then the file. But if I do "File Open Project/Solution.." or "File Open File..." the explorer window comes up in under a second, instantly most times.   The use case: to sign a electronic document, users view the document, and if they agree take a picture of themselves with their webcam (done through Flash from the browser). Then a PDF is generated containing the document and the picture in place of signature. This is a biometric signature, which is not as strong as a digital (cryptographic) signature, but stronger than having users draw their signature, as a photo is harder to forge than a drawn signature. Has anyone seen this technique being used on an existing web site?
