• cascading dropdown value doesn't seem to get posted to my php page?

  i am using cascading dropdownlist for showing states of a country... I get the country dropdown value but not the state dropdown value.... • Need to hide displayed div when I show others

  I am stuck. I have a page with 3 buttons, the 3 buttons do a couple things - they change the style of a div, and they also show/hide a content div. The changing of the div style works fine, but I am having issues with the content div. If you land on the page and click the "Our Brands" tab, then click the other 2 tabs, it works fine. • When Clearing an ObservableCollection, There are No Items in e.OldItems

  I have something here that is really catching me off guard. I have an ObservableCollection of T that is filled with items. I also have an event handler attached to the CollectionChanged event. When you Clear the collection it causes an CollectionChanged event with e.Action set to NotifyCollectionChangedAction.Reset. Ok, that's normal. But what is weird is that neither e.OldItems or e.NewItems has anything in it. I would expect e.OldItems to be filled with all items that were removed from the collection. Has anyone else seen this? And if so, how have they gotten around it? Some background: I am using the CollectionChanged event to attach and detach from another event and thus if I don't get any items in e.OldItems ... I won't be able to detach from that event. CLARIFICATION: I do know that the documentation doesn't outright state that it has to behave this way. But for every other action, it is notifying me of what it has done. So, my assumption is that it would tell me ... in the case of Clear/Reset as well. • Why does this Quicksort work?

  I find this Quicksort partitioning approach confusing and wrong, yet it seems to work. I am referring to this pseudocode. Note: they also have a C implementation at the end of the article, but it's very different from their pseudocode, so I don't care about that. I tested it out on a lot of random inputs, including all 0-1 arrays of length 20. I have also tried using this partition function for a selection algorithm, in which it failed to produce correct results. It seems to work and it's even very fast as part of the quicksort algorithm however. So my questions are: Can anyone post an example on which the algorithm DOESN'T work? If not, why does it work, since the partitioning part seems to be wrong? Is this another partitioning approach that I don't know about?

• Advanced Regex: Smart auto detect and replace URLs with anchor tags

  I've written a regular expression that automatically detects URLs in free text that users enter. This is not such a simple task as it may seem at first. Jeff Atwood writes about it in his post. His regular expression works, but needs extra code after detection is done. I've managed to write a regular expression that does everything in a single go. This is how it looks like (I've broken it down into separate lines to make it more understandable what it does): 1 (?<outer>\()? 2 (?<scheme>http(?<secure>s)?://)? 3 (?<url> 4 (?(scheme) 5 (?:www\.)? 6 | 7 www\. 8 ) 9 [a-z0-9] 10 (?(outer) 11 [-a-z0-9/+&@#/%?=~_()|!:,.;cšžcd]+(?=\)) 12 | 13 [-a-z0-9/+&@#/%?=~_()|!:,.;cšžcd]+ 14 ) 15 ) 16 (?<ending>(?(outer)\))) As you may see, I'm using named capture groups (used later in Regex.Replace()) and I've also included some local characters (cšžcd), that allow our localised URLs to be parsed as well. You can easily omit them if you'd like. Anyway. Here's what it does (referring to line numbers): 1 - detects if URL starts with open braces (is contained inside braces) and stores it in "outer" named capture group 2 - checks if it starts with URL scheme also detecting whether scheme is SSL or not 3 - start parsing URL itself (will store it in "url" named capture group) 4-8 - if statement that says: if "sheme" was present then www. part is optional, otherwise mandatory for a string to be a link (so this regular expression detects all strings that start with either http or www) 9 - first character after http:// or www. should be either a letter or a number (this can be extended if you'd like to cover even more links, but I've decided not to because I can't think of a link that would start with some obscure character) 10-14 - if statement that says: if "outer" (braces) was present capture everything up to the last closing braces otherwise capture all 15 - closes the named capture group for URL 16 - if open braces were present, capture closing braces as well and store it in "ending" named capture group First and last line used to have \s* in them as well, so user could also write open braces and put a space inside before pasting link. Anyway. Question I would like my links to be replaced with shortenings as well. So when user copies a very long link (for instance if they would copy a link from google maps that usually generates long links) I would like to shorten the visible part of the anchor tag. Link would work, but visible part of an anchor tag would be shortened to some number of characters. I could as well append ellipsis at the end of at all possible (and make things even more perfect). Does Regex.Replace() method support replacement notations so that I can still use a single call? Something similar as string.Format() method does when you'd like to format values in string format (decimals, dates etc...).

  My app will allow users to create a personalised list of events from a large list of events. I have a table view which simply displays these events, tapping on one of them takes the user to the event details view, which has a button "add to my events". In this detailed view I own the original event object, retrieved via an NSFetchedResultsController and passed to the detailed view (via a table cell, the same as the core data recipes sample). I have no trouble retrieving/displaying information from this "event". I don't believe its any of the ways I tried here. I need to show/edit it in another table view. Perhaps there is a better way than a boolean property on each event entity? Basically my end game is I need a table, but each row to contain the primary key of the row associated with the Active Record. I have done the following: Traced the id_color value to the create method, still got replaced by a 3 Hardcoded the value in the DAO create method, still got replaced by a 3 Called the procedure from the MySQL Workbench, it worked fined so I assume something is happening in the create method, any help is really appreciated.

• jquery dynamic select doesn't submit values

The first one is categories, and selecting a category from it will populate the variables multi-select box with values specific to the selected category. Selecting variables and then clicking "add selected" will populate the target select box will those variables. The problem is, print_r shows that the values in the target select box aren't passed upon submit, and I don't understand why... I've managed (after some reading and copying examples online) to get a plot working that updates on a timer which is great.   I'm trying to re-append a "removed option" to the appropriate select option menu. I have three select boxes: "Categories", "Variables", and "Target". "Categories" is a chained select, so when the user selects an option from it, the "Variables" select box is populated with options specific to the selected categories option. When the user chooses an option from the "Variables" select box, it's appended to the "Target" select box. I have a "remove selected" feature so that if a user "removes" a selected element from the "Target" select box, it's removed from "Target" and put back into the pool of "Variables" options. The problem I'm having is that it appends the option to the "Variables" items indiscriminately. That is, if the selected category is "Age" the "Variables" options all have a class of "age". But, if the removed option is an "income" item, it will display in the "Age Variables" option list. • Android: Having trouble creating a subclass of application to share data with multiple Activities

  Hello, I just finished a couple of activities in my game and now I was going to start to wire them both up to use real game data, instead of the test data I was using just to make sure each piece worked. Since multiple Activities will need access to this game data, I started researching the best way to pass this data to my Activities. I know about using putExtra with intents, but my GameData class has quite a bit of data and not just simple key value pairs. Besides quite a few basic data types, it also has large arrays. I didn't really want to try and pass all that, unless I can pass the entire object, instead of just key/data pairs. I read the following post and thought it would be the way to go, but so far, I haven't got it to work. Android: How to declare global variables? I created a simple test app to try this method out, but it keeps crashing and my code seems to look the same as in the post above - except I changed the names. Here is the error I am getting. • Is it safe to assert a functions return type?

  This question is related to this question. I have several models stored in a collection. I loop through the collection and validate each field. Based on the input, a field can either be successful, have an error or a warning. Is it safe to unit test each decorator and assert that the type of object returned is what you would expect based on the given input? I could perhaps see this being an issue for a language with function return types since my validation function can return one of 3 types.
