• why does the gingerbread emulator orientation gets stuck in apps?

  At first I thought this was a problem with my app, but it seems to be happening in any app (though interestingly, not the home screen) in the gingerbread emulator. To replicate my issue, open eclipse and fire up the android emulator for gingerbread (I'm using the "Google APIs - API Level 9" as my target) So the procedure to duplicate once the emulator loads is press LCtrl-F11 to shift orientation to landscape, then again to switch to portrait Result: In the homescreen: The view rotates to landscape, and then back to portrait, as expected In any app (i've tried browser, calculator, maps, and the app i'm currently working on): the view rotates to landscape, and then nothing, it stays in landscape even the emulator is displaying the phone in landscape mode (see below) http://i54.tinypic.com/2ake06v.jpg Has anyone else had this issue, or have I installed the emulator in some incorrect way - this hasn't been an issue with any of the previous emulators

• Hiding "Print to file" in a Java print dialog

  I'm maintaining this Swing app that has a "print" option. Users need to be kept from interacting in any way with the underlying file system, but the print dialog offers "print to file" as one printer, and that of course allows selecting a directory and file from the file system. Is there a painless way to override/modify the print dialog to hide the "to file" printer from this dialog? I understand the API will let me do this piecemeal but I'd rather not have to re-create most of the dialog GUI and functionality to do this.

  Is it possible to programmatically change settings on a Netgear wireless router using C#? I have settings that I change often and I would like to create my own interface for making those changes. Currently I navigate to the admin web page (10.0.0.1) and it prompts me for a username and password. After I authenticate I can use the web interface to change the router's configuration. If this isn't possible with Netgear, do any outher wireless routers have an API for developers? Thanks! Darvis

• How can I get the name of the Lead Owner in a Lead custom formula field?

  I've got an application that reads Lead records from Salesforce via the API and I want to link the Lead Owner field to an attribute in the application. The Lead Owner field doesn't up in the list of available fields but all the custom fields do. So, my first attempt at a solution was to create a custom field that displayed the Lead Owner name. In the SF formula editor, as far as I can tell, it doesn't display the actual data field but instead displays the ID string. Which is pretty meaningless in the context that I need it for. Is there a way that we can get at the data in the object that the ID string references? I have the RED BOX but need the GREEN BOX.

  Hi! I'm searched adobe and android developers sites, but can't find any details on this. Is it possible to use Flash as a part of my app? E.g. like a widget/GUI element? Or it's integrated in browser only and can't be simple accessible? I know, Adobe AIR apps are supported as standalone .apk. So it must be some API/SDK (from Google) to connect with Flash player. Is there any details, how to program it (more clear: launch swf from my app and interact with it)? Thank you!

However, how do you specify this specific 'click' registration AND pass in a local variable as the _onClick parameter at the same time? As an aside, why do you even have to specify 'click', when the API states that handler always pertains to a click? Is this additional information not unnecessary?

• Mysterious logging.basicConfig problem (Python)

  I'm writing a Python script to retrieve data from Flickr. For logging purposes, I have the following setup function: def init_log(logfile): format = '%(asctime)s - %(levelname)s - %(message)s' logging.basicConfig(filename=logfile,level=logging.DEBUG,format=format) I've tested this using the python shell and it works as expected, creating a file if one doesn't already exist. But calling it from within my program is where it stops working. The function is definitely being called, and the logfile parameter is working properly – logging.basicConfig just isn't creating any file. I'm not even getting any errors or warnings. My use of the Python Flickr API may be the culprit, but I doubt it. Any ideas?

  Problem I'm currently stuck trying to figure out what "iPhone OS Deployment Target" setting to use. I do not want to write conditional code right now, so I'd like the lowest version that runs my application fine. At first I thought it would be 2.0 as I wasn't using any 3.0 features, but then i realized that AVAudioRecorder is a 3.0 API. I don't want to be manually checking EVERY function I use in the documentation. Question Is there a tool that will check the OS availability of each functions you call in your code to figure out what the Deployment Target should be? That tool could be a good old compiler, but the latest version of the iPhone SDK does not come with the PRE-3.0 SDKs.

  RFC1123 defines a number of things, among them, the format of Dates to be used in internet protocols. HTTP (RFC2616) specifies that date formats must be generated in conformance with RFC1123. It looks like this: Date: Wed, 28 Apr 2010 02:31:05 GMT How can I generate an RFC1123 time string from C code, running on Windows? I don't have the use of C# and DateTime.ToString(). I know I could write the code myself, to emit timezones and day abbreviations, but I'm hoping this already exists in the Windows API. Thanks.

I'm trying to develop a thread abstraction (POSIX thread and thread from the Windows API), and I would very much like it to be able to start them with a method pointer, and not a function pointer. What I would like to do is an abstraction of thread being a class with a pure virtual method "runThread", which would be implanted in the future threaded class. I don't know yet about the Windows thread, but to start a POSIX thread, you need a function pointer, and not a method pointer. And I can't manage to find a way to associate a method with an instance so it could work as a function. I probably just can't find the keywords (and I've been searching a lot), I think it's pretty much what Boost::Bind() does, so it must exist. Can you help me ?

  I want to know whether a control is valid or not in javascript. Is there a direct client side API available in Asp.Net which can tell me whether a control is valid or not? Eg. If I have 2 validators attached to a textbox, I need a function that can tell me whether the textbox is valid or not. If even 1 validator is not valid then it should return false. I can't seem to find a function that can give me this. In the jQuery API page for the .animate() function, the user "fbogner" says: Just if anyone is interested: Animations are "rendered" using a setInterval with a time out of 13ms. This is quite fast! Chrome's fastest possible interval is about 10ms. All other browsers "sample" at about 20-30ms. Any idea how jQuery determined to use this specific number?

Since I am coding in python, I tried importing the python wrapper for Google Maps (found here); however, performing the import will cause my web app to crash. Are there any suggestions for how I can fix this problem?   I've been trying to keep this little project entirely within Google docs, but I may have hit a wall. The spreadsheet is being used as a way for multiple users to record individual events with a Template they duplicate. I want to be able to compile a list of names of those attended onto a "report" sheet from all of the unique sheets, which should be after a certain sheet index [3] to [infinite].   I am working with the sample Home application project on http://developer.android.com/resources/samples/Home/index.html I've added another value to the THUMBS_IDS and IMAGE_IDS Integer arrays in the Wallpaper class for a total of four wallpaper options. When I run the application with Device API version 7, Skin: HVGA, hw.lcd.density: 160, in portrait layout, the fourth wallpaper option is not shown. I need to use the directional keys in the emulator to see the 4th wallpaper option, because the first option is centered. I have modified only the wallpaper.xml file with a variety of android:layout_* options with no success at this point. How do I show all four of my wallpaper options?

• C++ new line not translating

  First off, I'm a complete beginner at C++. I'm coding something using an API, and would like to pass text containing new lines to it, and have it print out the new lines at the other end. If I hardcode whatever I want it to print out, like so printInApp("Hello\nWorld"); it does come out as separate lines in the other end, but if I retrieve the text from the app using a method that returns a const char then pass it straight to printInApp (which takes const char as argument), it comes out as a single line. Why's this and how would I go about to fix it?

  I am using dataTables plugin for a table on a page I am working on. Its basically fetching rows through an ajax call and in this ajax call, I send the search params that the user selects and the page number required. I need the Next, Previous, First and Last buttons to also fire the same ajax call, but with different page numbers, as the back-end interceptor depends on the page number. This api call would return total no. of rows(say 1000) belonging for these search params and the rows with the page size( say 50). Is there any way, I can use data table to do this?
