THere are a lot of wrappers for toolkits like Qt, Cocoa or WxWidgets for D, Python, Ruby and other languages.
I wonder if anyone has ever written a binding for MFC ?
I'm profiling an app that has a boat load of functions in many files and I'm trying to isolate functions that don't get called ever.
Any ideas before I proceed?
I've got a WinForms project that I've had for quite some time, and now suddenly, I can't open the designer anymore and when I try to open the designer I get an error that says
could not find type 'System.Collections.Generic.List'
All of the code builds just fine, but I can't use the designer anymore, and I don't know what happened, nor do I have any idea where to look to solve the problem. Has anyone ever run into this or have any insight?
I am trying to attach an 8M .wav file to a "story" in drupal. I can attach similar smaller files, but when i try this one and larger sizes i get in HTTP Error 0 message after a minute or to. I have checked all my max upload, Max Mem sizes they are set at well over 8M at 64M and 256M. Anyone else have this issue uploading files ever?
I need to write a daemon that supposed to have one TCP socket and one named pipe. Usually if I need to implement a multi IO server with "pure" sockets, the select based multi-IO model is always the one I will choose. so does anyone of you have ever used named pipe in select or you
can just tell me it is impossible. thanks in advance.
I need a way to detect if this is the first time the user is ever opening the application, if so, start an activity. Then all previous application launches wouldn't start that activity. I've read in a few places about using preferences to accomplish this. Anyone got any ideas?
I'm using Apache Commons Logging and SLF4J with log4j, but I also want to use the log4j.properties in a custom place like conf/log4.properties. Here is the problem:
If i use
PropertyConfigurator.configure("conf/log4j.properties");
then my app is tied to log4j and defets the purpose of having ACL and SLF4J.
What is the best way to configure it withouth the app ever knowing what the logging implementation is?
Why do this:
// If parameter cannot be cast to Point return false.
TwoDPoint p = obj as TwoDPoint;
if ((System.Object)p == null)
{
return false;
}
Instead of this:
// If parameter cannot be cast to Point return false.
TwoDPoint p = obj as TwoDPoint;
if (p == null)
{
return false;
}
I don't understand why you'd ever write ((System.Object)p)?

Dan
I currently have two buttons that say left and right, and I want them to move a square object left and right respectively.
What its currently doing when i press left is moving the square to the left, and if I press left again, it resets from the center and goes left.
I want it so that when I press left, from where ever it is currently to go left and right.
I know the principle is something like get current objects position and add the canvas coordinates respectively but how do I do this?
I'm wondering if this kind of thing will ever be possible in PHP (and whether it already is and I'm just missing something...)
<?php
function test() {
return array(
'id'=>10,
'name'=>'John'
);
}
echo 'Your name is: '.test()['name'];
?>
I'd really like to be able to use returned arrays directly instead of first assigning them to a var... possible?
Ever since I started programming this has been something I have been curious about. But seems too complicated for me to even attempt.
I'd love to see a solution.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 // returns 6 (n + 1)
10, 20, 30, 40, 50 //returns 60 (n + 10)
10, 17, 31, 59, 115 //returns 227 ((n * 2) - 3)
i published an application in vb.net. the user will be able to install the application anywhere they choose on the computer (or perhaps not anywhere they choose but where ever the default location is). how can i programmatically get the location where the user installed the application? another words i need the application to know where it is running from. how do i detect that?
I have some textbox and submit button.
When ever I click the submit button the div should be added dynamically in my aspx page.
Also the information which is available in the text box also displayed in the page default.
Use:Without using database i need to display the user suggestion in my page...
I've long been under the impression that 'goto' should never be used if possible. While perusing libavcodec (which is written in C) the other day, I noticed multiple uses of it. Is it ever advantageous to use 'goto' in a language that supports loops and functions? If so, why?
Our development cycle rarely requires a branch so we have what tfs appears to consider a single, never-ending development cycle. Our problem is that each build includes an ever increasing long "Generating list of changesets and updating work items" step that includes all changesets/work items back to day 1.
What is the proper step that we need to perform to formally lock and label (wrong terms I'm sure) the source tree so that a new cycle of changesets and work items can begin.
Thanks!
There are great .NET libraries and components. What is, for your opinion the most useful, effective, well wrriten open source C# library you've ever seen?
Mines, is the great Html Agility Pack.
Please post one library per answer.
Is there a color picker dialog for Qt like the following?
Also it needs to have a OnColorChanged signal which is called when ever the selected color changes. I want to give a live preview when they are changing the colors, that is why.
Using google I could only find this one that was a triangle in side of a circle and personally I think it looks ugly.
How common is it for coding style guidelines to include a requirement that all functions include a return statement (including functions which return void)?
To avoid being subjective or argumentative, I'd like answers which can name specific companies or open-source projects which have this requirement. If you haven't ever come across this coding style guideline, or you have a resource (book, online article) which discusses it, that would be useful as well.
Thanks!

Hello.
I'm tuning documentation generator for internal purpose that generates HTML documentation for C++ classes and methods. Is it any example available of good HTML documentation design? MSDN ( like this ) looks kinda outdated, same is doxygen / javadoc / sphinx results. Anyone ever see an documentation that looks REALLY good?
I want to add a very simple bit of code to a jsfiddle, but when ever I do it breaks everything else. This is the code I'd like to add:
$("#launcher").click(function(){
$("#profile_850_HEADER").animate({
margin-top: "10px"
}, 1500 );
});
and this is the jsfiddle http://jsfiddle.net/loriensleafs/F3wjg/3/ , I'm sure this is beyond simple but I can't figure it out, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I have a web browser in my access form. I am embedding a gif file on it. but how ever i re size it there is a white border coming in the top and left side. The adjustments take place only at the bottom and right side. So when i embed a gif file with black background i end up getting a white background on the top and left sides, how do i make this go.
thanks

Today, I had a training on "Microsoft Workflow Foundation".
While I think the idea is neat, I still see it as a Proof Of Concept and not as a real-life solution. Building an entire application without having to type a single line of code (or only a few of them) seems just wrong.
Have you ever used this technology and if so, can it really fit to big company projects ? What drawbacks/advantages have you got using it ?
Is it possible to attach Visual Studio to a remote instance of IE7 and debug Javascript? I have enabled script debugging in IE7 and I can attach to the process, but my breakpoints are ignored. Have anyone ever done this?
