  • Windows 8.1 install error 0x80070002

    I tried to install Windows 8.1 from the Windows Store and got the error 0x80070002. It seems that this error means that the download was not completed. I tried to restart the installation, I tried to clear the windows store cache, I tried to delete every thing in the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder, I tried to do a clean boot. It always fails with the same error. As a workaround, is there a way to download windows 8.1 from somewhere else than the windows store?

  • Thomson TCM 420 internal firewall deactivation

    Hi all, I'm having a really hard time with getting a box into active torrent mode. Windows firewall etc. is done, the actual problem seems to relate to the cable modem which is used to connect the box to the net. It's a Thomson TCM 420 which 'claims' to have an internal firewall. IMHO this internal FW keeps me from using the port I opened for torrenting. To cut it short: is there a way to disable that firewall? The web administration interface of the modem does not provide that option. thanks in advance K

    Whenever I view a page with Flash on it (example www.fox.com), if I move my mouse around the page flickers intensely - like siezure inducing flicker. Is this a known issue, and is there a way to fix it? Windows 7 RTM x64 IE8 Flash Player, Acrobat Reader, Shockwave Player are all I installed Consistent across 3 very different machines (AMD ZM-82 + Radeon HD3200 laptop, Core i7 + NVidia GT220 desktop, P4D + NVidia 6400GT desktop), but all with the above software.

    I installed Snow Leopard on my Macbook Pro. I then installed Windows 7 in a Boot Camp partition. Then using Windows 7's disk management console, I resized my Windows 7partition and created a 3rd NTFS partition for data, intending for both Windows 7 and Snow Leopard to read/write this partition. I installed MacFuse and NTFS-3G in Snow Leopard, but Snow Leopard still shows I have a single Windows 7 partition. How can I get Snow Leopard to recognize my third partition?

The sender could print it. Other users on same computer are unable to print their docs but I can print from WORD. AHHHHH

  • Conversation based grouping in Outlook similar to gmail?

    I'm stuck using my employer's Outlook 2007 system for work email and don't have the option to forward to my gmail account. The only thing I really miss alot from gmail is the threaded conversations which allow me to easily see what I have sent as replies and follow the entire string of emails easily. I have seen suggestions of using adding the conversation column in outlook, but if you sort by conversation then the most recent emails are not at the top, and additionally you still do not see emails you have sent because they are in the seperate sent folder. Any ideas on how I can get more thread like organization of my emails in outlook?

  • Plugging in USB flash drive only shows error 43, "Unknown device"

    My friend saved by his works onto my flash drive which was detectable/openable, but ... The very next day, the drive wouldn't show up in My Computer and Windows gave him error code 43 (Unknown device). I tried others few systems that once detected his flash drive but the problem still persisted. I don't know whether or not his flash drive is damaged but when plug/un-plugging, there are still sounds coming out though. Tried solutions: On Vista Home Premium (his computer): Uninstalled -- Restarted computer -- Re-installed (ERROR 43) On Windows 7 (my computer): Uninstalled -- Restarted computer -- Can't install (ERROR 43) It seems that my computer (Windows 7) had the lastest drivers already but still can't detect it. Its a Kingston DataTraveller 101 (DT101) 8GB. Could unplugging the flash drive without clicking "Safely Remove Hardware" have caused the problem?

  • Is there a way to route all traffic from Android through a proxy/tunnel to my Tomato router?

    I'd like to be able to connect my Android phone to public Wi-Fi points with unencrypted connections, but People can see what I'm doing by intercepting my radio transmissions People who own the access point can see what I'm doing. There are tools like WeFi and probably others to automatically connect to access points, but I don't trust random APs. I'd like all my traffic to go through an encrypted tunnel to my home router, and from there out to the Internet. I've done such tunnels from other computers with SSH/SOCKS and PPTP before. Is there any way to do this with Android? I've asked the same question on Force Close, so I'll change this question to be about both sides of the tunnel. More specifically: My phone now has CyanogenMod 4.2.3 My router currently has Tomato Version 1.25 I'm willing to change the router firmware, but I was having issues with DD-WRT disconnecting, which is why I'm using Tomato. Some possible solutions: SSH with dynamic SOCKS proxy: Android supposedly supports this through ConnectBot, but I don't know how to get it to route all traffic. Tomato supports this natively. I've been using this with MyEntunnel for my web browsing at work. Requires setting up each app to go through the proxy, though. PPTP: Android supports this natively. Tomato does not support this, unless you get the jyavenard mod and compile it? I previously used PPTP for web browsing at work and in China because it's native in Windows and DD-WRT. After a while I started having problems with it, then I started having problems with DD-WRT, so I switched to the SSH tunnel instead. Also it supposedly has security flaws, but I don't understand how big of a problem it is. IPSec L2TP: Android (phone) and Windows (work/China) both support this natively I don't know of a router that does. I could run it on my computer using openswan, but then there are two points of failure. OpenVPN: CyanogenMod apparently includes this, and now has an entry to create a new OpenVPN in the normal VPN interface, but I have no idea how to configure it. TunnelDroid apparently handles some of this. Future versions will have native support in the VPN settings? Tomato does not support this, but there are mods that do? I don't know how to configure this, either. TomatoVPN roadkill mod SgtPepperKSU mod Thor mod I could also run a VPN server on my desktop, I guess, though that's less reliable and presumably slower than running it in the router itself. I could change the router firmware, but I'm wary of more fundamental things breaking. Tomato has been problem-free for the regular stuff.   • Throttle network bandwidth per application in Mac OS X

    I notice that iTunes seems to suck up all my bandwidth and doesn’t play nice with other applications that use the web when it's downloading. In fact, it doesn't even give itself enough bandwidth when browsing the iTunes Store while downloading large or many files (podcasts, TV shows, large apps, etc). I'm not concerned with getting all my downloads as soon as possible, they're really low priority, and I'd rather not have to do this while I'm awake, but I can't hit the refresh button if I'm in bed and forgot it already. Is there an application or tool via the Terminal to limit the download bandwidth that iTunes gets without also hindering web browsers or other applications? FOSS/GPL software is preferable, but pay software might be acceptable too.

    I've connected a USB printer to a Mac OS X (10.4) machine -- this computer is connected to a network with a registered IP address -- and enabled sharing through the System Preferences setting (under "Shared" and "Print & Fax". Is this printer shared through the Bonjour or CUPS protocol (does it matter that I know)? How do I sent a print job to this computer (also from a 10.4 OS X machine)? It does not show up in the list of printers in the Default Network when I go to "add printer"; do I need to do anything else (on either machine)? Thanks much!

    Yesterday I had received new hardware and tried to assemble all of it. But when I was installing Windows 7 x64 for two times I got a BSOD, and a error message like this: Your PC has rebooted unexpectly, installation will continue after reboot. I have checked everything and tried to install once more time. It was almost successful, Windows had installed, but I cannot format my disk, open cmd or control panel, boot from DVD etc. It's the first time I have assembled a PC, and I don't know where the problem is, in my hardware or in Windows. My components: MSI z77a-g43 Intel i5 3570k Seagate Barracuda (plug into sata3 slot 6 Gb, there I have also sata 3 Gb slot) Corsair XMS3 (4x4Gb) HIS IceQ Also in the BIOS, I have changed RAM frequency to DDR3 1600 and voltage to 1.65v

  • Core i5 Turboboost/C states Freezing computer

    I'm not sure which, but I just had a heck of a time getting my computer to boot up and not freeze. It would run until it finished booting windows, then everything would freeze. This happened until I turned off turboboost and all the c states on the processor. What could be causing this? Is the processor going bad?

drive and I get this error message whenever I try to double click c:\ drive or other drives but other than that everything seems to be working fince except that I can not access my drives.... its very   • Lightweight IRC Client

    What is a good option for somebody who wants to participate in IRC, but doesn't want to download a large application, register with any group, etc? Preferably something lite, having a nice feature-set, and easy to get up-and-running. I'm on Windows, and I'd prefer something very easy and non-esoteric to work with.
