  Hi there, I'm installing some tracking code into the checkout_success.php page. I need to be able to grab the coupon code/discount code name from the order, if one was used so that I can echo it out in my tracking script. I was wondering if anyone knows how to do this? I'm using this contribution of discount coupons; ot_discount_coupons.php, August 4, 2006, author: Kristen G. Thorson, ot_discount_coupon_codes version 3.0 It seems that the coupon code is not actually stored in the order_totals, but in a seperate discount_coupons_to_orders table. is there a query i can do on this table to find the matching coupon code used for this order? i tried the following but it return nothing; $coupon_query = tep_db_query("select coupons_id from discount_coupons_to_orders where orders_id = '".(int)$orders['orders_id']."'   I have a table that looks like this for about ~30 students: StudentID Course* CourseStatus 1 Math Pass 1 English Fail 1 Science Pass 2 Math Fail 2 English Pass 2 Science Fail etc. *In my actual database the 'Course' column is a CourseID e.g. (1 = Math; 2 = English etc.) which references a 'CourseName' table. I amended the table above just to make it clear the nature of the problem. I want to write a query (stored procedure) in SQL that summarises performance for a given course and returns the following: EXEC usp_GetCourseSummary 'Math' Total Students Total Pass % Pass Total Fail % Fail 25 15 60 10 40 Have been scratching my head on this one for some time. Any ideas?

I want to run a RegEx query in java that gives me the Strings 'UMLS concept ID', semantic type and match map list. Is RegEx the right tool or what is the most efficent way to accomplish this in Java?

In the home view (index.haml), I list the Questions like this: - @questions.each do |q| %tr %td =link_to q.title, q Next to each of those, I want to add a link that will create a new Answer and pass the id of the Question in that row (continued from the above Haml code) : %td #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, pass q.id here somehow?} I don't know how to properly pass it and then access it in AnswersController. I tried #{link_to 'answer me!', new_answer_path, :question_id => q.id}, but that was just a guess, and I don't know how to access that in AnswersController. I read the Rails API docs, and I know you can add query, too, but I still don't know how to access the value in AnswersController.

  What are the steps required to enable Hibernate's second-level cache, when using the Java Persistence API (annotated entities)? How do I check that it's working? I'm using JBoss 4.2.2.GA. From the Hibernate documentation, it seems that I need to enable the cache and specify a cache provider in persistence.xml, like: <property name="hibernate.cache.use_second_level_cache" value="true" /> <property name="hibernate.cache.provider_class" value="org.hibernate.cache.HashtableCacheProvider" /> What else is required? Do I need to add @Cache annotations to my JPA entities? How can I tell if the cache is working? I have tried accessing cache statistics after running a Query, but Statistics.getSecondLevelCacheStatistics returns null, perhaps because I don't know what 'region' name to use.

  I'm working on versioning our database and now searching for a way to drop all stored procedures and functions from a C# Console Application. I'd rather not create a stored procedure that drops all stored procedures and functions. I has to be some sql executed from C#. I tried to drop the stored procedure before creating it, but I get this message: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: 'CREATE/ALTER PROCEDURE' must be the first statement in a query batch. Script for one SP for example: DROP PROCEDURE [dbo].[sp_Economatic_LoadJournalEntryFeedbackByData] SET ANSI_NULLS ON SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[sp_Economatic_LoadJournalEntryFeedbackByData] @Data VARCHAR(MAX) AS BEGIN ... END So I guess before creating all SP's and functions I'll need to drop all SP's and functions first with one sql script.

• Slow insert speed in Postgresql memory tablespace

  Hi, I have a requirement where I need to store the records at rate of 10,000 records/sec into a database (with indexing on a few fields). Number of columns in one record is 25. I am doing a batch insert of 100,000 records in one transaction block. To improve the insertion rate, I changed the tablespace from disk to RAM.With that I am able to achieve only 5,000 inserts per second. I have also done the following tuning in the postgres config: Indexes : no fsync : false logging : disabled Other information: - Tablespace : RAM - Number of columns in one row : 25 (mostly integers) - CPU : 4 core, 2.5 GHz - RAM : 48 GB I am wondering why a single insert query is taking around 0.2 msec on average when database is not writing anything on disk (as I am using RAM based tablespace). Is there something I am doing wrong? Help appreciated. Prashant

Sample stored procedure looks like: insert into something values(...) from (select * from table(my_package.my_function(99, 'something, something2', 1, 50))) a other_table b where b.something1 = a.something1; open cv_1 for select count(*) from table(my_package.my_function(99, 'something, something2', 1, 50)) So I am calling the same package twice. first time to match records with other tables and other stuff and second time to get the count. Is there a way to get the count first time around and put it into a variable and second time around I just pick that variable rather than calling the whole query again? Hope it makes sense.

  The title for this question pretty much sums up what I'm asking. I've got a list of taxonomy terms, and I'm using a view to display the latest post to each one. I'd like to also display a custom field set up in CCK just under this. Currently, I'm just using "date updated" of the taxonomy term itself which was easy to set up in views. I'd like to drill a little deeper and get the custom "event date" field I've added to the content type last posted to the taxonomy term I'm "viewing". I've got a feeling I'm going to have to write my own database query for this. If (I can avoid that){ How do I set up such a view? } Else{ What's the best practice for including lower level database queries alongside views? }

• Dynamically loading Assemblies to reduce Runtime Depencies

  I've been working on a request to the West Wind Application Configuration library to add JSON support. The config library is a very easy to use code-first approach to configuration: You create a class that holds the configuration data that inherits from a base configuration class, and then assign a persistence provider at runtime that determines where and how the configuration data is store. Currently the library supports .NET Configuration stores (web.config/app.config), XML files, SQL records and string storage.About once a week somebody asks me about JSON support and I've deflected this question for the longest time because frankly I think that JSON as a configuration store doesn't really buy a heck of a lot over XML. Both formats require the user to perform some fixup of the plain configuration data - in XML into XML tags, with JSON using JSON delimiters for properties and property formatting rules. Sure JSON is a little less verbose and maybe a little easier to read if you have hierarchical data, but overall the differences are pretty minor in my opinion. And yet - the requests keep rolling in.Hard Link Issues in a Component LibraryAnother reason I've been hesitant is that I really didn't want to pull in a dependency on an external JSON library - in this case JSON.NET - into the core library. If you're not using JSON.NET elsewhere I don't want a user to have to require a hard dependency on JSON.NET unless they want to use the JSON feature. JSON.NET is also sensitive to versions and doesn't play nice with multiple versions when hard linked. For example, when you have a reference to V4.4 in your project but the host application has a reference to version 4.5 you can run into assembly load problems. NuGet's Update-Package can solve some of this *if* you can recompile, but that's not ideal for a component that's supposed to be just plug and play. This is no criticism of JSON.NET - this really applies to any dependency that might change.  So hard linking the DLL can be problematic for a number reasons, but the primary reason is to not force loading of JSON.NET unless you actually need it when you use the JSON configuration features of the library.Enter Dynamic LoadingSo rather than adding an assembly reference to the project, I decided that it would be better to dynamically load the DLL at runtime and then use dynamic typing to access various classes. This allows me to run without a hard assembly reference and allows more flexibility with version number differences now and in the future.But there are also a couple of downsides:No assembly reference means only dynamic access - no compiler type checking or IntellisenseRequirement for the host application to have reference to JSON.NET or else get runtime errorsThe former is minor, but the latter can be problematic. Runtime errors are always painful, but in this case I'm willing to live with this. If you want to use JSON configuration settings JSON.NET needs to be loaded in the project. If this is a Web project, it'll likely be there already.So there are a few things that are needed to make this work:Dynamically create an instance and optionally attempt to load an Assembly (if not loaded)Load types into dynamic variablesUse Reflection for a few tasks like statics/enumsThe dynamic keyword in C# makes the formerly most difficult Reflection part - method calls and property assignments - fairly painless. But as cool as dynamic is it doesn't handle all aspects of Reflection. Specifically it doesn't deal with object activation, truly dynamic (string based) member activation or accessing of non instance members, so there's still a little bit of work left to do with Reflection.Dynamic Object InstantiationThe first step in getting the process rolling is to instantiate the type you need to work with. This might be a two step process - loading the instance from a string value, since we don't have a hard type reference and potentially having to load the assembly. Although the host project might have a reference to JSON.NET, that instance might have not been loaded yet since it hasn't been accessed yet. In ASP.NET this won't be a problem, since ASP.NET preloads all referenced assemblies on AppDomain startup, but in other executable project, assemblies are just in time loaded only when they are accessed.Instantiating a type is a two step process: Finding the type reference and then activating it. The startup code also looks for failure and tries loading up the assembly when it fails since that's the main reason the load would fail. As you can see the code tries to create an instance and when it fails tries to load the assembly, and then re-tries loading.Once the instance is loaded some configuration occurs on it. Specifically I set the ReferenceLoopHandling option to not blow up immediately when circular references are encountered. There are a host of other small config setting that might be useful to set, but the default seem to be good enough in recent versions. Note that I'm setting ReferenceLoopHandling which requires an Enum value to be set. There's no real easy way (short of using the cardinal numeric value) to set a property or pass parameters from static values or enums. This means I still need to use Reflection to make this work. I'm using the same ReflectionUtils class I previously used to handle this for me. The function looks up the type and then uses Type.InvokeMember() to read the static property.Another feature I need is have Enum values serialized as strings rather than numeric values which is the default. To do this I can use the StringEnumConverter to convert enums to strings by adding it to the Converters collection.As you can see there's still a bit of Reflection to be done even in C# 4+ with dynamic, but with a few helpers this process is relatively painless.Doing the actual JSON ConversionFinally I need to actually do my JSON conversions. And for any other manual JSON operations (in a couple of apps I use JSON Serialization for 'blob' like document storage) this is also going to be handy.Performance?Some of you might be thinking that using dynamic and Reflection can't be good for performance. And you'd be right… In performing some informal testing it looks like the performance of the native code is nearly twice as fast as the dynamic code. Most of the slowness is attributable to type lookups. To test I created a native class that uses an actual reference to JSON.NET and performance was consistently around 85-90% faster with the referenced code. That being said though - I serialized 10,000 objects in 80ms vs. 45ms so this isn't hardly slouchy. For the configuration component speed is not that important because both read and write operations typically happen once on first access and then every once in a while. But for other operations - say a serializer trying to handle AJAX requests on a Web Server one would be well served to create a hard dependency.Dynamic Loading - Worth it?On occasion dynamic loading makes sense. But there's a price to be paid in added code complexity and a performance hit. But for some operations that are not pivotal to a component or application and only used under certain circumstances dynamic loading can be beneficial to avoid having to ship extra files and loading down distributions. These days when you create new projects in Visual Studio with 30 assemblies before you even add your own code, trying to keep file counts under control seems a good idea. It's not the kind of thing you do on a regular basis, but when needed it can be a useful tool.   Is it possible to have support for enabling DataModelSelection on a list page paginated via EntityQuery? (All the examples load the list by performing a query on the @Factory method). But, I would like to re-use the existing pagination mechanism and just enable the ability to support DataModelSelection on it. I am also assuming that DataModelSelection is capable of tracking a single row in a List, how do we extend this to support a certain action (say deletion, activation ...) of multiple rows. I am a newbie and would appreciate any help on this topic. I have already gone through the samples shipped as part of Seam (booking, message). The key has been inferred and the definition was created as a read-only table/view." And it decides that the CompletedDateTime field will be this entity primary key. We are using EdmGen to generate the model. Is there a way not to have the entity framework include any field of this view as a primary key? Thanks for help.

  Hi, I have disabled log shipping on a SQL 2005 database and deleted the log shipping DB on the secondary server. However i cannot delete the LSRestore_DB___ job, either by T-SQL (sp_delete_log_shipping_primary_secondary, sp_delete_job) or using the management studio on the secondary server. It just wont go. The query keeps on executing for a good 7 hours. Tried disabling, still doesn't delete. Restarted the server too. Also tried the Can anyone help me delete this SQL job please ? Many Thanks

Now I have to implement an app in Delphi which can manipulate MySql, Oracle, maybe MS Acess. In short, I need ODBC. I need to programatically created a database, define its structure and populate its contents, then later query its existence and programatically search. I would prefer not to use 3rd party components, unless there is a compelling reason to do so (performance ought not to be an issue for the app, it won't have much data or be run often, at least not in v1.0) .   I have a UISearchBar which acts as a live filter for a table view. When the keyboard is dismissed via endEditing:, the query text and the gray circular "clear" button remain. From here, if I tap the gray "clear" button the keyboard reappears as the text is cleared. How do I prevent this? If the keyboard is not currently open I want that button to clear the text without reopening the keyboard. There is a protocol method that gets called when I tap the clear button. But sending the UISearchBar a resignFirstResponder message doesn't have any effect on the keyboard.

  We are experiencing high volume of PageIOLatch_SH waits on our database (row counts in the Billions). However it seems that our drive Idle time Percentage hovers around 50-60 percent. CPU usage is nill. The Database Tuning Advisor gives no suggestions for optimization. The query plan (actual) from the single stored procedure used on the database puts the majority of the expense on index seek (yeah I know these should be optimial) operations. Anyone have suggestions of how to increase throughput?
