Re-Convert timestamp DATE back to original format (when editing) PHP MySQL

Ok so I have managed to get the format of the date presented in HTML (upon display) to how I want (dd/mm/yyy)...However, the user also can change the date via a form. So this is how it's setup as present. Firstly, the conversion from YYYY-MM-DD to DD/MM/YYYY and then display in HTML: $timestamp = strtotime($duedate); echo date('d/m/Y', $timestamp); Now when the user selects to update the due date, the value already stored value is drawn up and presented in my text field (using exactly the same code as above).. All good so far. But when my user runs the update script (clicks submit), the new due date is not being stored, and in my DB its seen as '0000-00-00'. I know I need to convert it back to the correct format that MySQL wants to have it in, in order for it to be saved, but I'm not sure on how to do this. This is what I have so far in my update script (for the due date): $duedate = $_POST['duedate']; $timestamp = strtotime($duedate); date('Y/m/d', $timestamp); $query = "UPDATE films SET filmname= '".$filmname."', duedate= '".$duedate; Can somebody please point me in the right direction to have the new date, when processed, converted back to the accepted format by MySQL. Handling Incoming Mail to Multiple Recipients in PHP

Alright, this may take a moment or two to explain: I'm working on creating an Email<SMS Bridge (like Teleflip). I have a few set parameters to work in: Dreamhost Webhosting PHP 5 (without PEAR) Postfix What I have right now, is a catch-all email address that forwards the email sent to a shell account. The shell account in turn forwards it to my PHP script. The PHP script reads it, strips a few Email Headers in an effort to make sure it sends properly, then forwards it to the number specified as the recipient. [email protected] of course sends an SMS to +1 (555) 123-4567. This works really well, as I am parsing the To field and grabbing just the email address it is sending to. However, what I realized that I did not account for is multiple recipients. For example, an email sent to both 5551234567 and 1235554567 (using the To line, the CC line, or any combination of those). The way email works of course, is I get two emails received, end up parsing each of them separately, and 5551234567 ends up getting the same message twice. What is the best way to handle this situation, so that each number specified in TO and CC can get one copy of the message. In addition, though I doubt its possible: Is there a way to handle BCC the same way?

VSTS Test Edition or HP's LoadRunner?

I have had this debate with some peers off and on for a while. I am certified in the HP tools, but have been spending more and more time with VSTS Test Edition 2008. I am looking for opinions on what people think of the future of both products and how they compete. LoadRunner's strengths include its vast array of protocols supported. Unfortunately since HP took over from Mercury, they are beginning to lag behind, especially in the new internet spaces. VSTS Test, once very limited, is now quite impressive, especially in 2010. I don't know if it makes business sense, but I would love for VSTS Test to take on some additional protocols. Many of my clients would like to move away from HP and their licensing costs. Finally, I am looking for good resources for VSTS Test. I have been playing with it, but would like to see some dedicated courses/material, instead of just a part of the larger VSTS. Thanks!

Why would some $_POST variables go missing for a form with PHP?

Sometimes, multiple times a day in fact, users of my web application are submitting a certain form which has about a dozen form fields, half of which are hidden fields, and half of the $_POST data is simply not present in the processing script. Note that the fields that are not present are at the very bottom of the form. I know this because this raises a fatal error, and an email is dispatched to me which includes the post data. And of course, neither I nor any of the developers on my team can reproduce the problem. Flash is involved in the process, as I'm using a library called Uploadify to display a progress meter. Here is the flow...does anyone have ANY ideas at all why some of the post data would be getting wiped out? User visits edit screen for a page in the CMS I am using. Record id for the page is put into a form as a hidden value. User clicks the Uploadify browse button and selects a file (only single file selection is allowed). User clicks Submit button for my form. jQuery intercepts the form submit action, triggers Uploadify to start uploading, and returns false for the submit action (manually cancelling the form submit event so that Uploadify can take over). Uploadify uploads to a custom process script. Uploadify finishes uploading and triggers the Javascript completion callback. The Javascript callback calls $('#myForm').submit() to submit the form. This happens on multiple browsers (Firefox 3.5, 3.6, Safari, Internet Explorer 7, 8) and multiple platforms (Mac OS 10.5, 10.6 and Windows XP, 7).

PHP get "Application Root" in Xampp on Windows correctly

Hi all: I found this thread on StackOverflow about how to get the "Application Root" from inside my web app. However, most of the approaches suggested in that thread can hardly be applied to my Xampp on Windows. Say, I've got a "common.php" which stays inside my web app's app directory: / /app/common.php /protected/index.php In my common.php, what I've got is like this: define('DOCROOT', $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT']); define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__)); define('COMMONSCRIPT', $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']); After I required the common.php inside the /protected/index.php, I found this: C:/xampp/htdocs //<== echo DOCROOT; C:\xampp\htdocs\comic\app //<== echo ABSPATH /comic/protected/index.php //<== echo COMMONSCRIPT So the most troublesome part is the path delimiters are not universal, plus, it seems all superglobals from the $_SERVER[] asso array, such as $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'], are relative to the "caller" script, not the "callee" script. It seems that I can only rely on dirname(__FILE__) to make sure this always returns an absolute path to the common.php file. I can certainly parse the returning values from DOCROOT and ABSPATH and then calculate the correct "application root". For instance, I can compare the parts after htdocs and substitute all backslashes with slashes to get a unix-like path I wonder is this the right way to handle this? What if I deploy my web app on a LAMP environment? would this environment-dependent approach bomb me out? I have used some PHP frameworks such as CakePHP and CodeIgniter, to be frank, They just work on either LAMP or WAMP, but I am not sure how they approached such a elegant solution. Does anybody know of a free flash obfuscator? All I can find are commercial ones with free trials. I have done numerous google searches, and have been unable to find what I am looking for. I know that obfuscators do not make your swf hack proof, but they make things harder. Things I am looking for in an obfuscator: Unlimited obfuscations No time limit No watermark (or on the left side only! Right side is no good, same with center) Able to publish work (no special player needed other than standard flashplayer) I really was surprised to see how hard it was to find a good obfuscator (tried encoder, protection, etc. instead as well) and how easy it is to find a decompiler.... It is imperative that my code be protected, at least partially, to discourage the hacking of my game.

My second try was to set width for list of choices after creating Ajax.Autocompleter $("isearch_choices").setStyle({width: "320px"}); but it didn't work too :(. No more ideas :(. What would it be like? Yes, I'm just looking for a list of product / technology names. For example, in the J2EE world, I might describe a stack that includes: J2EE 6 standard JavaServer Faces Glassfish 3 MySQL 5.1.x I'm guessing this stack includes some combination of .NET, SQL Server, ASP.NET, IIS, etc. but I am not familiar with this world. Looking for ideas on the equivalent in Microsoft-land.

A dynamic array of class "landmark", inside another single class "landmarks"

I'm working on a robot localization simulator and I created a class called "landmark". The end result is going to be a robot that is always centered and always faces the top of the screen. As it turns, the birds eye view map will rotate around the robot. To accomplish this, I'm assuming I can rotate one class and have all elements inside rotate as well. So, the landmark class has properties x,y, label, and radius. This is suppose to simulate a tree location in a forest. To test everything, I need "forest data," and I wrote a script to generate 100 trees in a 100m x 100m area. The script automatically generates values within an acceptable range for x,y, radius. The generated data is stored in an object called tempForest and is 100x3. Ideally, I want to create a class called "landmarks" (plural) that has 100 landmark instances inside. How would I instantiate 100 instances of landmark in one instance of landmarks using that randomly generated data? Ideally, I'd just type treeBeacons = landmarks(); and it would randomly populate 100 (user definable, set in config file) instances with x, y, radius data. I'm not sure how to deal with a dynamic array of class "Landmark", inside another single class "landmarks." Any ideas?

Run ajax scripts on page with navigating with ajax?

I got a bit of an issue in my ASP.NET MVC project. I have a chat div in the bottom right corner (like facebook), and of course I do not want this to reload when navigating to all my navigation is ajax. The problem I am facing is that I use the following code on the top of the view page: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#divTS').hide(); $('a#showTS').click(function() { $('#divTS').slideToggle(400); return false; }); }); </script> The problem is that this code is only loaded with ajax and does not seem to fire? I would like to run all scripts in the newly loaded view, just as if I hadn't navigated with ajax. I cannot put this in the site.master as it only loads once and then probably the divs I am trying to hide doesn't exist. Is there a good way to run scripts in the ajax-loaded div?

In Perl, is a while loop generally faster than a for loop?

I've done a small experiment as will be shown below and it looks like that a while loop is faster than a for loop in Perl. But since the experiment was rather crude, and the subject might be a lot more complicated than it seems, I'd like to hear what you have to say about this. Thanks as always for any comments/suggestions :) In the following two small scripts, I've tried while and for loops separately to calcaulte the factorial of 100,000. The one that has the while loop took 57 minutes 17 seconds to finish while the for loop equivalent took 1 hour 7 minutes 54 seconds. security negotiation with the remote endpoint has failed. This may be due to absent or incorrectly specified EndpointIdentity in the EndpointAddress used to create the channel. Please verify the EndpointIdentity specified or implied by the EndpointAddress correctly identifies the remote endpoint. I have the following query that I'm executing using a Python script (by using the MySQLdb module). conn=MySQLdb.connect (host = "localhost", user = "root",passwd = "<password>",db = "test") cursor = conn.cursor () preamble='set @radius=%s; set @o_lat=%s; set @o_lon=%s; '%(radius,latitude,longitude) query='SELECT *, 6371*1000 * acos(cos(radians(@o_lat)) * cos(radians(lat)) * cos(radians(lon) - radians(@o_lon)) + sin(radians(@o_lat)) * sin(radians(lat))) as distance FROM poi_table HAVING distance < @radius ORDER BY distance ASC LIMIT 0, 50' complete_query=preamble+query results=cursor.execute (complete_query) print results The values of radius, latitude, and longitude are not important, but they are being defined when the script executes. What bothers me is that the snippet of code above returns no results; essentially meaning that the way that the query is being executed is wonky. I executed the SQL query (including the set variables with actual values, and it returned the correct number of results). If I modify the query to just be a simple SELECT FROM query (SELECT * FROM poi_table) it returns results. What is going on here?

How do I get a TextBox to only accept numeric input in WPF?

I'm looking to accept digits and the decimal point, but no sign. I've looked at samples using the NumericUpDown control for WinForms, and this sample of a NumericUpDown custom control from Microsoft. But so far it seems like NumericUpDown (supported by WPF or not) is not going to provide the functionality that I want. The way my app is designed, nobody in their right mind is going to want to mess with the arrows. They don't make any practical sense, in the context of my app. So I'm looking for a simple way to make a standard WPF TextBox accept only the characters that I want. Is this possible? I though returning false would be enough to cancel the link action, but apparently it isn't. When I click the link in the code below I do get the 'click' message, which is expected. Verifying the purchaser of an App Store application

Is there a way for the developer of an App Store application to tie a sale to an individual user/device ID/Apple account? In other words, a method for the developer to double-check that a specific user has legally purchased the software? I haven't been able to find a reliable answer to this yet. I'm not looking for specific code examples, just some sort of idea as to how possible (or difficult) this is. My intent isn't to penalize piracy; it's to be able to provide additional benefits to paid customers. As such, I'm not looking for a way to identify a cracked or pirated version, which I gather has already been solved. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
