  • asp.net external form loading into jquery dialog submit button issue

    I am loading an external file 'contact_us.aspx' into a jquery dialog box. the external page contains a form. When the submit button is pressed it closes the dialog box and changes the page to contact_us.aspx. is my code correct or is there a different way of doing this. see my code below, thanks.   • Why is my WCF Rest Service on IIS7 Authenticating TWICE!?!?

    Ok, if someone could shed some light on this for me, I would greatly appreciate it. So here we go. I had a rest service running fine the other day but after I accidentally overwrote the web.config all hell broke loose. I've spent the past day and a half trying to sort things out but I can't seem to figure out what is missing or misplaced. So, I've designed this service around WCF Rest Contrib (http://wcfrestcontrib.codeplex.com)'s authentication process. Now, I can get this working fine on my localhost w/ the current web.config (minus the endpoint entry) but once I upload it to discountasp and select "basic authorization" in the ISS7 Manager, it appears that I'm getting authenticated twice! Once using my discount asp.net user/pass and then the next time using the application user/pass. Unfortunately I only provide one set of credentials and don't want to hard code my discountasp account info into the app. Like I said before, this worked fine a few days ago. Please contact technical support for further assistance."/> </behavior> </serviceBehaviors> </behaviors> </system.serviceModel> </configuration> So, whenever I upload this and change the ISS setting to Basic Authentication, it looks like it is trying to use the default handler for authentication as if I try to enter my web app user/pass, I get an error screen which has the following detailed information about the moduel/handler Detailed Error Information Module: IIS Web Core Notification: AuthenticateRequest Handler: svc-ISAPI-2.0 Error Code: 0x80070005 Requested URL: http://www.mydomain.com:80/MyService.../MyService.svc Physical Path: E:\web\xxxxxx\htdocs\MyServiceBaseAddress\MyService.svc Logon Method: Not yet determined Logon User: Not yet determined Now for the fun stuff... i tried providing my discountasp.net account username/password for kicks and sure enough it responded properly for any [OperationContract] which doesn't have [OperationAuthentication] defined (which is only one or two of the operations I have). I thought this was strange, so I looked at fiddler and saw something interesting. Whenever I try request a procedure with [OperationAuthentication] defined and provide my discountasp.net username/pass I get two different "WWW-Authenticate" headers back in Fiddler: WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="MyRESTServiceRealm" WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="www.mydomain.com" On the other hand, if I try to access the same procedures with only my application's user/pass, I only get the site's header: WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="www.mydomain.com" My hypothesis is that for some reason I'm having to pass through the default "Basic Authorization" layer set by IIS before I can get to the application's "Custom Basic Authorization" layer. After verifying this by created an identical user/pass for my service that I use for my discountasp.net account, I was able to successfully pass both layers of authentication without any issues... so I think I can conclude that this is indeed the issue. Now how do I disable the default one? Do I need to do this in the IIS Manager, or in the web.config? Anyway, I have absolutely no idea how this is possible or what I need to do to resolve the issue, but I know that something is seriously out of whack. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!   • ASP.NET MVC & Silverlight development - on Ubuntu

    I recently moved my working environment from Windows 7 to Ubuntu, and enjoy this every minute of my working day. My work is currently to develop ASP.NET MVC and Silverlight applications. Thus, important Windows stuff is being still run in VirtualBox (such as IIS, MSSQL, Silverlight 3, and legacy COM stuff). For now, I use Visual Studio under VirtualBox as editor/IDE/debugger. But since I prefer Ubuntu fonts and UI much more I'd like to move at least editor (and better IDE) to native Ubuntu. Things I have already done: I store project files in my home folder and run Visual Studio from \vboxsvr share. With few tricks for ASP.NET it works. I use svn on Ubuntu. I test my ASP.NET MVC site using FireFox/FireBug on Ubuntu. What I need on Ubuntu: SQL client to manage MSSQL. I mostly need querying, but I would miss SQL intellisense support. I enjoy command-line svn a lot, but there're times when it's not enough (e.g. view files / check diffs / selectively commit at the sames time) so I wonder if there're any addons - I don't mean replacement for svn, just addons for rare cases like above. I wonder if there're editors that can provide some C# intellisense. Yes I know about MonoDevelop, but will it provide intellisense without compiling (since I'm going to compile remotely in Win box)? And pretty big topic, what's the best way (editor/IDE) to do "folder-based" development? What I mean: The project is /trunk. Everything is there. I don't want to manually add files to project or like that. The project is the folder and files down there. Main task is to edit files of course. I need a quick way to open / search for files in the project. Like in Resharper, I can click Ctrl-Shift-T (IIRC) and just type file name, a list of matching files in the project folder and below is shown. For example, gedit has file tree browser, but I can't quickly type XYZ to find all XYZ files there; moreover it doesn't automatically switch focus to/from editor; so it's more mouse-oriented; I need 100% keyboard way. I need syntax highlighting for C#/HTML/JS. Most importantly, I need HTML tags autocompletion. I can live without it, but I'll be sorry. I need to run compilation remotely (via ssh I think, invoking NAnt script which does MSBuild) and grab results such as errors and warnings, and I'd prefer to quickly go to error line/file. In short, I need to edit/search/open/svn/compile/run files in some folder. Looks like a case for command-line, but imaging I'm in /trunk and want to open file.cs inside /trunk/foo/bar/boo/far, I wouldn't want to type all this path even with bash autocompletion help. I'd prefer to enter :open file.cs, and maybe then select from list of file.cs and file1.cs. Well, maybe I'll add more soon. Actually, I don't have exact requirements; for example, I don't even know if I need to ask for IDE or editor; or should it have svn support integrated or I need to use it from console; do people work with files from console (search/commit/delete/etc) and open editor from there, or they work from editor/IDE and manage files (search/commit/delete) from there? What's better? I have a feeling that vim might have everything I need. I'd like to confirm that, before I spend a lot of time learning it. No I don't want Emacs. Any other IDE? I like Eclipse, but is it good for such stuff? And after all, do you feel like it's a good way to go? I enjoy Ubuntu, enjoy learning new stuff, and Ubuntu + Windows in VirtualBox actually runs faster than Windows7 on my mahcine, but maybe I need to keep development (editor/files management/etc) in Windows/VirtualBox only, leaving other stuff for Ubuntu?

    I'm trying to do a rich text editor for a web application, and I need to be able to mark some elements in the text as uneditable by the user. The reason for this is they're placeholders for dynamic content (like created date) that I want to have a live preview for. However, since there is no text before the element marked as 'notype', it gets inserted inside the same element. This is double bad when the user presses "enter", as a new tag is genrated, and the "notype" tag is duplicated, obviously not required. I want the behaviour as follows: * If the user types while the cursor is in the 'notype' tag, the cursor is moved to front and the text goes there * If the cursor is at the last position inside the 'notype' tag, then the text appears after the tag * If the user types anywhere else, it's inserted as always. The link at the bottom tries to manually put the cursor at the front and insert the html. Obviously fails. I know this one can work by doing something like $(g.iDoc.body).prepend("before!"), but this obviously won't work in a real scenario (using keyup).

  • Django doesn't refresh my request object when reloading the current page.

    I have a Django web site which I want ot be viewable in different languages. Until this morning everything was working fine. Here is the deal. I go to my say About Us page and it is in English. Below it there is the change language button and when I press it everything "magically" translates to Bulgarian just the way I want it. On the other hand I have a JS menu from which the user is able to browse through the products. I click on 'T-Shirt' then a sub-menu opens bellow the previously pressed containing different categories - Men, Women, Children. The link guides me to a page where the exact clothes I have requested are listed. BUT... When I try to change the language THEN, nothing happens. I go to the Abouts Page, change the language from there, return to the clothes catalog and the language is changed... I will no paste some code. You don't have to understand it or even look at all of it. I've published it just in case because I really can't understand the origins of the bug. Now this is how I have narrowed the problem. I am debuging with "raise Exception(request)" every time I want to know what's inside my request object. When I place this in my aboutUs method, the language cookie value changes every time I press the language button. But NOT when I am in the displayClothes method. There the language stays the same. Also I tried putting the exception line in the beginning of the @base method. It turns out the situation there is exactly the same. When I am in my About Us page and click on the button, the language in my request object changes, but when I press the button while in the catalog page it remains unchanged. That is all I could find, and I have no idea as to how Django distinguishes my pages and in what way. P.S. The JavaScript I think works perfectly, I have tested it in multiple ways.     I am having a hard time with ADO.NET Data Services (formerly code-named Astoria) as it gives me a bogus exception when I try to insert a new entity from the silverlight client and trying in a clean project (the same code) doesn't. In both cases, however, data is correctly inserted into the database. Using Fiddler (an HTTP debugger I could see that there is no problem in the HTTP communication as I will show later in this question.   • Spring security - Reach users ID without passing it through every controller

    I have a design issue that I don't know how to solve. I'm using Spring 3.2.4 and Spring security 3.1.4. I have a Account table in my database that looks like this: create table Account (id identity, username varchar unique, password varchar not null, firstName varchar not null, lastName varchar not null, university varchar not null, primary key (id)); Until recently my username was just only a username but I changed it to be the email address instead since many users want to login with that instead. I have a header that I include on all my pages which got a link to the users profile like this: <a href="/project/users/<%= request.getUserPrincipal().getName()%>" class="navbar-link"><strong><%= request.getUserPrincipal().getName()%></strong></a> The problem is that <%= request.getUserPrincipal().getName()%> returns the email now, I don't want to link the user's with thier emails. Instead I want to use the id every user have to link to the profile. How do I reach the users id's from every page? I have been thinking of two solutions but I'm not sure: Change the principal to contain the id as well, don't know how to do this and having problem finding good information on the topic. Add a model attribute to all my controllers that contain the whole user but this would be really ugly, like this.     I have an HTML (App) file that reads another HTML (data) file via jQuery.ajax(). It then finds specific tags in the data HTML file and uses text within the tags to display sort-of tool tips. I have tried to re-upload on IO error trigger, but it stops at the same place. Any solution regarding this error? By the way, i was watching process via debugging proxy and figured out, that responce headers doesn't come at all on this IO error. And sometimes shows socket error. If need, i will post serverside php script as well. But it stops at if(isset($_FILES['Filedata'])) { so it won't help :) as all processing comes after this check.

    I cant figure out whats wrong. Its working when i tried to refresh only topics but it doesnt works when tried to refresh topics and page-links. ie. topics table's refreshing, and 'pagelinks' disappearing, i thought pure cannot reach - read second template node. By the way, i tested their code, first message box show up all of nodes - includes 'pagelinks' node, but second one - in function only show up topic rows. Its look like a bug.   • How to capture live camera frames in RGB with DirectShow

    I'm implementing live video capture through DirectShow for live processing and display. (Augmented Reality app). I can access the pixels easily enough, but it seems I can't get the SampleGrabber to provide RGB data. The device (an iSight -- running VC++ Express in VMWare) only reports MEDIASUBTYPE_YUY2. After extensive Googling, I still can't figure out whether DirectShow is supposed to provide built-in color space conversion for this sort of thing. Some sites report that there is no YUV<-RGB conversion built in, others report that you just have to call SetMediaType on your ISampleGrabber with an RGB subtype. Any advice is greatly appreciated, I'm going nuts on this one. Code provided below.   • Getting overflow-y:scroll to work with fixed positioning html & css

    I have a Jquery tools scrollable thats set to be fixed to the bottom of the browser window. Ideally i would just like to get a overflow-y:scroll; working for the page as a whole when the browser is < 700px. (so no content gets hidden, as its all fixed place). This feels like it should be simple but its causing me huge headaches. js solutions are fine at this point.   • XHTML / CSS help?

    Basically on GunChester my project I have an few pixel wide gap between #login_top (top image holder) and the 3 CSS col's below, #login_left, #login_centre and #login_right so that my first question why? and how can I fix this, this is in FF, Chrome and IE. Secondly the BG image seems to be overlaying twice as in its stretched at the top then the full picture does display as it should. I did have it working but when trying to fix the pixel gap I must of messed something up but no idea what, so it is now going pear shape, lease help with both these situations :)?   • Need guidance on a Google Map application that has to show 250 000 polylines.

    I am looking for advice for an application I am developing that uses Google Map. Summary: A user has a list of criteria for searching a street segment that fulfills the criteria. The street segments will be colored with 3 colors for showing those below average, average and over average. Then the user clicks on the street segment to see an information window showing the properties of that specific segment hiding those not selected until he/she closes the window and other polyline becomes visible again. This looks quite like the Monopoly City Streets game Hasbro made some month ago the difference being I do not use Flash, I can’t use Open Street Map because it doesn’t list street segment (if it does the IDs won’t be the same anyway) and I do not have to show Google sketch building over. Information: I have a database of street segments with IDs, polyline points and centroid. The database has 6,000,000 street segment records in it. To narrow the generated data a bit we focus on city. The largest city we must show has 250,000 street segments. This means 250,000 line segment polyline to show. Our longest polyline uses 9600 characters which is stored in two 8000 varchar columns in SQL Server 2008. We need to use the API v3 because it is faster than the API v2 and the application will be ported to iPhone. For now it's an ASP.NET 3.5 with SQl Server 2008 application. Performance is a priority. Problems: Most of the demo projects that do this are made with API v2. So besides tutorial on the Google API v3 reference page I have nothing to compare performance or technology use to achieve my goal. There is no available .NET wrapper for the API v3 yet. Generating a 250,000 line segment polyline creates a heavy file which takes time to transfer and parse. (I have found a demo of one polyline of 390,000 points. I think the encoder would be far less efficient with more polylines with less points since there will be less rounding.) Since streets segments are shown based on criteria, polylines must be dynamically created and cache can't be used. Some thoughts: KML/KMZ: Pros: Since it is a standard we can easily load Bing maps, Yahoo! maps, Google maps, Google Earth, with the same KML file. The data generation would be the same. Cons: LineString in KML cannot be encoded polyline like the Google map API can handle. So it would probably be bigger and slower to display. Zipping the file at the size it will take more processing time and require the client side to uncompress the data and I am not quite sure with 250,000 data how an iPhone would handle this and how a server would handle 40 users browsing at the same time. JavaScript file: Pros: JavaScript file can have encoded polyline and would significantly reduce the file to transfer. Cons: Have to create my own stripped version of API v3 to add overlays, create polyline, etc. It is more complex than just create a KML file and point to the source. GeoRSS: This option isn't adapted for my needs I think, but I could be wrong. MapServer: I saw some post suggesting using MapServer to generate overlays. Not quite sure for the connection with our database and the performance it would give. Plus it requires a plugin for generating KML. It seems to me that it wouldn't allow me to do better than creating my own KML or JavaScript file. Maintenance would be simpler without. Monopoly City Streets: The game is now over, but for those who know what I am talking about Monopoly City Streets was showing at max zoom level only the streets that the centroid was inside the Bounds of the window. Moving the map was sending request to the server for the new streets to show. While I think this was ingenious, I have no idea how to implement something similar. The only thing I thought about was to compare if the long was inside the bound of map area X and same with Y. While this could improve performance significantly at high zoom level, this would give nothing when showing a whole city. Clustering: While cluster is awesome for marker, it seems we cannot cluster polylines. I would have liked something like MarkerClusterer for polylines and be able to cluster by my 3 polyline colors. This will probably stay as a “would have been freaking awesome but forget it”. Arrow: I will have in a future version to show a direction for the polyline and will have to show an arrow at the centroid. Loading an image or marker will only double my data so creating a custom overlay will probably be my only option. I have found that demo for something similar I would like to achieve. Unfortunately, the demo is very slow, but I only wish to show 1 arrow per polyline and not multiple like the demo. This functionality will depend on the format of data since I don't think KML support custom overlays. Criteria: While the application is done with ASP.NET 3.5, the port to the iPhone won't use the web to show the application and be limited in screen size for selecting the criteria. This is why I was more orienting on a service or page generating the file based on criteria passed in parameters. The service would than generate the file I need to display the polylines on the map. I could also create an aspx page that does this. The aspx page is more documented than the service way. There should be a reason. Questions: Should I create a web service to returns the street segments file or create an aspx page that return the file? Should I create a JavaScript file with encoded polyline or a KML with longitude/latitude based on the fact that maximum longitude/latitude polyline have 9600 characters and I have to render maximum 250,000 line segment polyline. Or should I go with a MapServer that generate the overlay? Will I be able to display simple arrow on the polyline on the next version. In case of KML generation is it faster to create the file with XDocument, XmlDocument, XmlWriter and this manually or just serialize the street segment in the stream? This is more a brainstorming Stack Overflow question than an actual code problem. Any answer helping narrow the possibilities is as good as someone having all the knowledge to point me out a better choice.

  • Optimizing a lot of Scanner.findWithinHorizon(pattern, 0) calls

    I'm building a process which extracts data from 6 csv-style files and two poorly laid out .txt reports and builds output CSVs, and I'm fully aware that there's going to be some overhead searching through all that whitespace thousands of times, but I never anticipated converting about about 50,000 records would take 12 hours. My Scanner id is scanning a java.util.String, figured buffering it to memory would reduce I/O since the search here is being performed thousands of times on a relatively small file. The performance increase compared to scanning a BufferedReader(FileReader(File)) was probably less than 1%, the process still looks to be taking a LONG time. I've also traced execution and the slowness of my overall conversion process is definitely between the first and last like of the lookup method. In fact, so much so that I ran a shortcut process to count the number of occurrences of various identifiers in the .csv-style files (I use 2 lookup methods, this is just one of them) and the process completed indexing approx 4 different identifiers for 50,000 records in less than a minute. Compared to 12 hours, that's instant. Some notes (updated): I don't necessarily need the pattern-matching behaviour, I only get the first field of a line of text so I need to match line breaks or use Scanner.nextLine(). All ID numbers I need start at position 0 of a line and run through til the first block of whitespace, after which is the name of the corresponding object. I would ideally want to return a String, not an int locating the line number or start position of the result, but if it's faster then it will still work just fine. If an int is being returned, however, then I would now have to seek to that line again just to get the ID; storing the ID of every line that is searched sounds like a way around that. Anything to help me out, even if it saves 1ms per search, will help, so all input is appreciated. Thankyou! Usage scenario 1: I have a list of objects in file A, who in the old-style system have an id number which is not in file A. It is, however, POSSIBLY in another csv-style file (file B) or possibly still in a .txt report (file C) which each also contain a bunch of other information which is not useful here, and so file B needs to be searched through for the object's full name (1 token since it would reside within the second column of any given line), and then the first column should be the ID number. If that doesn't work, we then have to split the search token by whitespace into separate tokens before doing a search of file C for those tokens as well. What's ending up happening in file C is, every single line is being checked, even the 95% of lines which don't contain an ID number and object name at the start. Would it be quicker to use ^[\r\n]+.*(objectname) instead of two separate regexes? It may reduce the number of _match executions. The more general case of that would be, concatenate all tokensBefore with all tokensAfter, and put a .* in the middle. It would need to be matching backwards through the file though, otherwise it would match the correct line but with a huge .* block in the middle with lots of lines. The above situation could be resolved if I could get java.util.Scanner to return the token previous to the current one after a call to findWithinHorizon. I have another usage scenario. Will put it up asap.

In the real world example this is based on, there are many more attributes to a "bicycle" than just color, and I want to make this XSL easy to change to include or exclude fields without having to change the XSL in multiple places.

    I'm trying to build my first website from scratch. I mocked up the design in Photoshop, and have been trying to convert into code for a few hours. But I haven't got far. In fact, I'm stuck on the header's navigation bar. It looks right, but it doesn't work. I'm using an unordered-inline list, and trying to link different rectangles in the header.   • jQuery CSS Custom Flyout Menu Styling Issue

    I'm close to nailing this flyout menu I have been working on, just have a couple of current pain points. I'm trying to get left/right padding on my submenu items, as you can see I am not quite there. Also when the first submenu is displayed, I want to create a bit of a gap between the first row of list items and the child. Below is my current code and a screen shot displaying what I want. In this code i am not able to see the benefit. 2) How should i decide how many threads should i create ? 3) Are their any opensource libraries which does that 4) The file which file receiver receives is valid and not corrupted but checksum (i used FileUtils of common-io) does not match. Whats the problem? 5) This code gives out of memory when used with large file(above 100 Mb) i.e. because byte array which is created. How can i avoid? Or do I really have to grab back to document.createElement? Note: I know that I can use just the same name for each input element and retrieve them as an array, but the above is just a basic example, in real I really need to have the name attribute changed, because it not only contains the index, but also other information such as parentindex, ordering, etc. It's been used to add/rearrange/remove (sub)menu items. Edit: this is related to this bug, The jQuery (I'm using 1.3.2) does thus not seem to create inputs that way? Even a simple $('<input>').attr('name', 'foo') doesn't work in IE6/7. Isn't jQuery as being a crossbrowser library supposed to cover this particular issue under the hoods?
