• jQuery Week Calendar overlapping problem

  Hi, I'm developing an application with uses this calendar for resource reservation, but I have a problem when creating a new event. I don't want events to overlap, so I set allow allowCalEventOverlap to false. However, it still overlaps in a transparent way. But the biggest problem is that I can't drag an event if there's another on the same day, even if their start and end dates don't overlap. • Quick to develop web app in Java

  Hi all, I need to develop a basic web app very quickly (1 week) for a demo. My requirements are Java (I need to make use of existing Java libraries to access the relevant data) 2 screens One for static data view, maybe some search parameters Other for basic form entry No fancy AJAX required Ideally easy for a web designer to come in and tart it up as necessary, without having to rewrite everything My first stop was going to be to checkout Wicket as I've heard good things about it. I don't have the time right now to dive into anything heavy, which probably writes off JSF in my mind (I played with JSF1, steep learning curve which I've now slid back down). I'm happy to treat the result as throwaway so if there's a framework which starts of well but then doesn't scale up to bigger projects, that would be ok. Any suggestions appreciated on frameworks/approach.

• Help creating a dll for a custom control

  I'm going to ask a newbie question here. I need to use a control I found online in my code, but it was written in the wrong language. It is in C# and I am using VB.net for work. I have all of the code for the control which works beautifully in C#, but I had issues with it not working very well in VB. The source code and a demo project are available here, but I am not sure exactly which files I should use to build the dll for VB. It seems a lot to ask, but would someone mind taking a look and pointing me in the right direction? Cheers

• What tools do people use to make programming tutorial videos?

  Hi folks, I'm wanting to make some yee-run-o-the-mill tutorial video's about some programming concepts and stuff i've been doing. Nothing special ... lots of peeps been doing it. What tools are people using to record and edit these videos? What resolutions / fonts / sizes do people generally use/set? The only tool I've had experience with is Camtasia - and i didn't mind it. But i've seen vid's (or live demo's) where people zoom in to code sections.. how do they do that? For final editing, do most people just do some simple power point presentation with some video snippets mashed in. cheers!

• Is there a tool that will show diagrams of my SQL database in real-time?

  I've created some diagrams of SQL tables using the "Reverse Engineer" feature of Microsoft Office Visio. I like being able to visualize my relational databases in this manner. However, what I get is just a static document that I can print, e-mail to colleagues, and click widgets on. Earlier this year, I saw at a demo that the new version of Visual Studio 2010 has a new feature called the "Architect Explorer", which allows developers to view relationships among .net classes on the fly. It has many features for filtering the data that the developer is interested in. It would be really awesome if I could visually browse my tables and stored procedures and see what is related to what by primary key, foreign key, and referenced in stored procedures. I realize that I'm talking about two entirely different technologies and it's not a perfect analogy, but is there some similar tool that would allow me to visualize tables in my SQL database?

• HTML5 Search Input: No Background Image in Chrome?

  I have been pulling my hair out trying to get Chrome to style my search input with a background image. Firefox has no problem, but I fear it's because it treats the input as a regular text input. Is this simply not possible? Try this as a demo: <input type="search" /> ?input[type="search"] { background: transparent url(http://google.com/intl/en_ALL/images/srpr/logo1w.png) no-repeat 0 0; }?????? If it worked correctly, it should put Google's logo (or part of it) as the background image for the "Search" input. But as you will see when you look at this in Chrome, it DOES NOT WORK. Any ideas, or is this just one of HTML5's quirks? :\

• jQuery - Drag of elements in areas - then not draggable any more

  Hello! I have three div areas. Creating an element, which is draggable() with jQuery UI, I can drag it all over the screen. Dropping it in a special area, then I can not drag it any more. I created a full working demo: http://jsbin.com/enusu4/2/ There you can create a draggable element which is placed into the left green area. Dragging it to the middle or right green area, I can not drag the element. I increment the zIndex of the elements, but it does not work. Does anyone can help me, what's wrong? Best Regards.

  I want to arrange plots with grid.arrange to make more complex coplots and then use grid.arrange to combine these complex coplots. Class A{ private B b; } Class B{ private C c; } Class C{ private Long val; } assume these are the hibernate persistence classes i am not writing all annotations of mapping with database. now my problem is i want to retrieve results of Class A according to the value of Class C's val property. i tried to fetch it using, Criteria c = Restrictions.eq("b.c.val", value); List l = c.list; it shows could not resolve property. i searched and came to know criteria wont work up to this much depth. i don't want shift to HQL. any idea??

• How can I get rid of horizontal padding or indent in html5 search inputs in webkit?

  In webkit only, the text in a search input is indented from the left side. Here's a demo. Even after stripping all padding, text-indent, and setting -webkit-appearance to textfield or none, the text is still indented. It looks to be around 10px or so, but the inspector doesn't show any CSS rules (even browser defaults) that seem to apply this style. • jquery scroll to a px count from top and then set a div to be fixed from the top for the rest of the scroll

  I am looking to change a div's css when i scroll to a certain point down the page, a certain amount of pixels from the top of the page. On page load i would have a div positioned statically. Once I started to scroll down the page and i hit a point from the top (say 100px for demo purposes) i want to change that static div to become fixed like 20px from the top. Which would be done via the css() property of jquery. THis would allow it to stay at that fixed 20px all the way down the page. What jquery property can i use to know when i hit that 100px mark. I want this to also revert once someone gets back to the top so that the div is put back to where it was when the page loaded and not 20px from the top. Any ideas?

• Android GPS app not closing connection

  Hi there, Fairly new to Android, so just trying to work out: I have a simple Maps app that plots a couple of locations. It's a demo for a potentially bigger app later. The one thing I would like to do is make it exit correctly. I want to assume that when a user hits the "Home" or "Back" button on the phone, that they have exited the app. I want when this has happened for the GPS process to shut down. I can't seem to find any examples of how to do this correctly. I have an onDestroy() subclass with a super.onDestroy() method but this doesn't seem to cut it. I've tested on my phone and while everything else seems to work fine, this is bugging me. I keep seeing the GPS icon in the notifications bar. To give you an example, this doesn't happen when you leave GoogleMaps. Anyone any ideas or know what I'm missing? T

• Third party library not working with angular js

  I am using navgoco.js and angular js in an application and I have following html <div id="demo"> <ul > <li ng-repeat ... > <a href="#"> ... </a> ...... </li> </ul> </div> js code $j("#demo1").navgoco({accordion: false}); It is supposed to do some expand-collapse of menus. the problem is that navgoco events are not performing on clicking on anchor. It simply adds # to url. In the rendered html of anchor tag, anuglar is adding ng-binding that may be the problem. Please help.

  This is working fine, but I'm looking for any feedback on how to do it better. Right now I think it's better than nested loops, but it starts to get Perl-one-linerish when you have a generator in a list comprehension. • Enable vertical scrolling on textarea

  I have a textarea that I want to enable vertical scrolling. When I exceed the height of the textarea, it increases in size. The scroll bar does not appear. • Why isn't this button firing the anchor tag?

  My idea is to press a button that takes me to a web page. I've created a thing that dynamically creates a button and an anchor tag. When the button is clicked, I want it to "click"/fire up the anchor tag.. I've uploaded a demo to my site, when you try it out just leave everything as it is. Click the first button then the add button right away.. then try to click the dynamically created button. Nothing happens, but if you watch the source you can find an anchor tag with the ID FL1000, I've set it up so that the anchor tag gets the ID from the value of the created button + 1000 just incase I need to use that ID.. Thanks guys... edit: this is optimized for google chrome, haven't tried it out with other browser.
