• Replacing specific HTML tags using Regex

  Alright, an easy one for you guys. We are using ActiveReport's RichTextBox to display some random bits of HTML code. The HTML tags supported by ActiveReport can be found here : http://www.datadynamics.com/Help/ARNET3/ar3conSupportedHtmlTagsInRichText.html An example of what I want to do is replace any match of <div style="text-align:*</div> by <p style=\"text-align:*</p> in order to use a supported tag for text-alignment. I have found the following regex expression to find the correct match in my html input: <div style=\"text-align:(.*?)</div> However, I can't find a way to keep the previous text contained in the tags after my replacement. Any clue? • ExecutionEngineException thrown when loading native dll in c#

  Hi there. I have a 32-bit .net application that uses a native 32-bit DLL via DllImport(). The native DLL is our internal file analysis library, and I need to use it as porting it to C# would be a problem if people update it (other software uses it). The problem is that when I try to execute any method in the native DLL I get a System.ExecutionEngineException thrown. In fact, I've reduced the managed application to a simple tester that just calls a native method, but it still fails. I am on 64-bit Windows 7, but that should not matter as I'm compiling everything as 32-bit binaries. What is also interesting, when I look at the native DLL in the Dependency Walker, it shows that it can't find msvcr90.dll - but when I open any other of our native DLLs in the Dependency Walker, it can find their referenced msvcr90.dll just fine. Can there by some wrongness in the compilation of native DLL that messss up its DLL references?

• How UIWindow#addSubview can make memory leak?

  Hello, I started to learn using Instrument, but I cannot figure it out. After I start my application, the UI shows up, I do nothing and after few seconds I can see memory leak detected: When I have a look at the second leak I can see the following stack: When I double click on the cell related to my code I can see that it is pointing to the following line of code: [window addSubview:newPostUIViewController.view]; from the method: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { //creating view controller newPostUIViewController = [[NewPostUIViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"NewPostView" bundle:nil]; newPostUIViewController.title = @"Post it!"; [window addSubview:newPostUIViewController.view]; // Override point for customization after application launch [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } I wonder, how this can be a reason of a leak? • error working with wsdl files in visual studio 2008

  Hi. I got a wsdl file in email. At first I didn't know how to use it. I've simply saved the file to my disk. Opened visual studio...added a service reference...provided path to file, and service was discovered. I opened the object browser to see the types and methods that got imported. I figure anything that ends with the name 'Client' is a good place to start using the web service. I've tried using a simple method to get data but it has run into and expception. Need help in resolving it. • multiple records using the select_tag

  I'm attempting to display multiple records, with each record displaying its own selection box. I would like to submit this form and pass a hash, having the Add.id function as the key of the hash, and the selection box option pass as the information in the hash. • java - call web service operation - wrong return type

  i have a simple web service with one method that returns List<org.company.data.mp> i've created a simple web service client and specified a web service with wsdl. in netbeans i try to call a web service operation: right click, insert code, ... and i pick my web service operation. the code gets inserted but the method's return type is not List<org.company.data.mp> but it is List<org.company.server.mp>! i don't get it.. in the package "server" there is no class called mp! i check the implementation class of my web service - it says the return type is ...data.mp not ...server.mp

• JAVA Classes in Game programming.

  I'm doing a little strategy game to help me learn Java in a fun way. The thing is I visioned the units as objects that would self draw on the game map (using images and buffering) and would react to the mouse actions with listeners attached to them. Now, based on some tutorials I've been reading regarding basic game programming, all seems to be drawn in the Graphics method of my Map class. If a new unit emerges, i just update the Map.Graphics method, it's not as easy as making a new Unit object which would self draw... In this case, I'd be stuck with a whole bunch of Map methods instead of using classes for rendering new things. So my question is, is it possible to use classes for rendering units, interface objects, etc, or i'll have to create methods and just do some kind of structural programming instead of object oriented? I'm a little bit confused and I'd like to have a mental blueprint of how things would be organized. Thanks!

  Is is possible to set the Max length of a ComboBox in wxruby? I have looked in the documentation but find nothing http://wxruby.rubyforge.org/doc/combobox.html But if i do my_combobox.methods.sort I get set_max_size and set_min_size in the list. But When I call it my_combobox.set_max_length(100) I only get undefined method 'set_max_length' for #<Wx::ComboBox:0x4d4a914> I've also tried to call it as a private method def my_combobox.max(i) set_max_length(i) end my_combobox.max(100) But with the same result. The issue I want to avoid is that if somebody pastes 6000+ characters in my Combobox the text becomes white.

• Extending the RoleProvider GetRolesForUser()

  The GetRolesForUser() method in the RoleProvider takes the user login name and returns the list of roles for that user. But in my application this is not enough, I need a few more pieces of information to be able to get the user's roles. How can I get this extra information into the method? I have it in the Session, but I found out that Session is not available in the RoleProvider. What I had in mind was putting this extra info in some class that extends MembershipUser, assuming I can get to it inside the RoleProvider. But I don't know how to create the CustomMembershipUser and make it part of the MembershipProvider. Is this even possible? The easy way out would be using cookies, but I'm trying to keep away from it.

• Entity Framework in n-layered application - Lazy loading vs. Eager loading patterns

  Hi all. This questions doesn't let me sleep as it's since one year I'm trying to find a solution but... still nothing happened in my mind. Probably you can help me, because I think this is a very common issue. I've a n-layered application: presentation layer, business logic layer, model layer. Suppose for simplicity that my application contains, in the presentation layer, a form that allows a user to search for a customer. Now the user fills the filters through the UI and clicks a button. Something happens and the request arrives to presentation layer to a method like CustomerSearch(CustomerFilter myFilter). This business logic layer now keeps it simple: creates a query on the model and gets back results. Now the question: how do you face the problem of loading data? I mean business logic layer doesn't know that that particular method will be invoked just by that form. So I think that it doesn't know if the requesting form needs just the Customer objects back or the Customer objects with the linked Order entities. I try to explain better: our form just wants to list Customers searching by surname. It has nothing to do with orders. So the business logic query will be something like: (from c in ctx.CustomerSet where c.Name.Contains(strQry) select c).ToList(); now this is working correctly. Two days later your boss asks you to add a form that let you search for customers like the other and you need to show the total count of orders created by each customer. Now I'd like to reuse that query and add the piece of logic that attach (includes) orders and gets back that. How would you front this request? Here is the best (I think) idea I had since now. I'd like to hear from you: my CustomerSearch method in BLL doesn't create the query directly but passes through private extension methods that compose the ObjectQuery like: private ObjectQuery<Customer> SearchCustomers(this ObjectQuery<Customer> qry, CustomerFilter myFilter) and private ObjectQuery<Customer> IncludeOrders(this ObjectQuery<Customer> qry) but this doesn't convince me as it seems too complex.   Hi all, I've been working on some code in js/html and it works great. I'm now trying to package it into an add-on for Firefox, and having some issues getting the XUL document correct. PLAIN OLD HTML/JS In my html test file between the <head></head> I have: <script type="text/javascript" src="js/MyCode.js"></script> At the end of the test file before the </body> I have: <script type="text/javascript">MyCode.Static.Init();</script> FIREFOX ADD-ON: OVERLAY.XUL In an overlay.xul file in the extension package I have : <?xml version="1.0"?> <overlay id="mycode" xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"> <script type="application/x-javascript" src="chrome://mycode/content/MyCode.js"></script> <script> window.addEventListener("load", function () { gBrowser.addEventListener("load",MyCode.Static.Init,true); }, false); </script> </overlay> This does not seem to enter the method, but then again I'm not even sure if I've got the listeners firing properly. Would this be the correct way to duplicate what I was doing in plain old html/js ?

• Strange behaviour of code inside TransactionScope?

  We are facing a very complex issue in our production application. We have a WCF method which creates a complex Entity in the database with all its relation. public void InsertEntity(Entity entity) { using(TransactionScope scope = new TransactionScope()) { EntityDao.Create(entity); } } EntityDao.Create(entity) method is very complex and has huge pieces of logic. During the entire process of creation it creates several child entities and also have several queries to database. During the entire WCF request of entity creation usually Connection is maintained in a ThreadStatic variable and reused by the DAOs. Although some of the queries in DAO described in step 2 uses a new connection and closes it after use. Overall we have seen that the above process behaviour is erratic. Some of the queries in the inner DAO does not even return actual data from the database? The same query when run to the actaul data store gives correct result. What can be possible reason of this behaviour?

  Tools: Air 2, Flex SDK 4.1, Flash Builder, Halo component set (NO Spark being used at all) Fonts work perfectly when running the appliction, but not in design view. This effectively makes design view WORTHLESS because it's impossible to properly position components or labels without knowing what the true size is (it changes depending on font...) ... CSS included in root component like so: <fx:Style source="style.css"/> CSS file: /* CSS file */ @namespace mx "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"; global { font-family:Segoe; font-size:14; color:#FFFFFF; } mx|Application, mx|VBox, mx|HBox, mx|Canvas { font-family:Segoe; background-color:#660000; border-color:#222277; color:#FFFFFF; } mx|Button { font-family:Segoe; fill-colors:#660000, #660000, #660000, #660000; color:#FFFFFF; } .... Interestingly (or buggily?), when I try pasting the style tag into a subcomponent (lower than the top level container), I get a bunch of warnings in the subcomponent editor view stating that CSS type selectors are not supported in.. (all the components in the style sheet). Yet, they do work when the application is executed. Huh? • semi dynamic cdn

  i'm developing couple of websites using php (directory script, etc.) and wordpress as cms. i need to improve its performance, by using cdn for static files (css, js, images). the problem is, css and javascript files are generated on the fly. i did that due to yahoo and some expert advice to combine the files into one file. also changing basic color of css files. for the time being, i use couple of small vps but still its not fast enough. i already contact maxcdn and the support guy said that they dont have such kind of services. what i need is: a cdn that will serve the request from user/visitor and there's no file in local disk, the cdn will redirect/fetch it from another domain/server. in vps, it could be done easily using combination of .htaccess and php, but NOT in the cdn. most of cdn only support purely static files. is there any such cdn that will server semi-dynamic files?

• Posting source code in blogger- fails with C# containers

  I tried the solutions that are posted in this related SO question and for the most part the code snippets are working, but there are some cases that are still getting garbled by Blogger when it publishes the blog. In particular, declaring generic containers seems to be most troublesome. Please see the code examples on my blog and in particular the section where I define the dictionary (http://mlai-lirik.blogspot.com/). I want to display this: static Dictionary<int, List<Delegate>> _delegate = new Dictionary<int,List<Delegate>>(); But blogger publishes this: static Dictionary<int, list=""><delegate>> _delegate = new Dictionary<int, list=""><delegate>>(); And it caps the end of my code section with this: </delegate></delegate></int,></delegate></int,> Apparently blogger thinks that the <int and <delegate> portion of the dictionary are some sort of HTML tags and it automatically attempts to close them at the end of the code snippet. Does anybody know how to get around this problem?

• Does C# have an equivalent to Scala's structural typing?

  In Scala, I can define structural types as follows: type Pressable { def press(): Unit } This means that I can define a function or method which takes as an argument something that is Pressable, like this: def foo(i: Pressable) { // etc. The object which I pass to this function must have defined for it a method called press() that matches the type signature defined in the type - takes no arguments, returns Unit (Scala's version of void). I can even use the structural type inline: def foo(i: { def press(): Unit }) { // etc. It basically allows the programmer to have all the benefits of duck typing while still having the benefit of compile-time type checking. Does C# have something similar? I've Googled but can't find anything, but I'm not familiar with C# in any depth. If there aren't, are there any plans to add this?

• Convert function to read from string instead of file in C

  I've been tasked with updating a function which currently reads in a configuration file from disk and populates a structure: static int LoadFromFile(FILE *Stream, ConfigStructure *cs) { int tempInt; ... if ( fscanf( Stream, "Version: %d\n",&tempInt) != 1 ) { printf("Unable to read version number\n"); return 0; } cs->Version = tempInt; ... } to one which allows us to bypass writing the configuration to disk and instead pass it directly in memory, roughly equivalent to this: static int LoadFromString(char *Stream, ConfigStructure *cs) A few things to note: The current LoadFromFile function is incredibly dense and complex, reading dozens of versions of the config file in a backward compatible manner, which makes duplication of the overall logic quite a pain. The functions that generate the config file and those that read it originate in totally different parts of the old system and therefore don't share any data structures so I can't pass those directly. I could potentially write a wrapper, but again, it would need to handle any structure passed in in a backwards compatible manner. I'm tempted to just pass the file as is in as a string (as in the prototype above) and convert all the fscanf's to sscanf's but then I have to handle incrementing the pointer along (and potentially dealing with buffer overrun errors) manually. This has to remain in C, so no C++ functionality like streams can help here Am I missing a better option? Is there some way to create a FILE * that actually just points to a location in memory instead of on disk? Any pointers, suggestions or other help is greatly appreciated.

Here is what I have done so far - Run mksdcard 8192K C:\android-dev\emu_sdcard\emu_logFile - Create a new AVD, when assign emu_logFile to it so that when I view the AVD Details it says C:\android-dev\emu_sdcard\emu_logFile against the field "SD Card" - Here is the relevant code public class ZLogger { static PrintWriter zLogWriter = null; private static void Initialize() { try { File sdDir = Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory(); if (sdDir.canWrite()) { : File logFile = new File (sdDir, VERSION.RELEASE + "_" + ".log"); FileWriter logFileWriter = new FileWriter(logFile); zLogWriter = new PrintWriter(logFileWriter); zLogWriter.write("\n\n - " + date + " - \n"); } } catch (IOException e) { Log.e("ZLogger", "Count not write to file: " + e.getMessage()); } } sdDir.canWrite returns false - please note it not the exception from adb shell when I do ls I see sdcard as link to /mnt/sdcard. When I do ls -l /mnt here is what I see ls -l /mnt ls -l /mnt drwxr-xr-x root system 2010-12-24 03:41 asec drwx------ root root 2010-12-24 03:41 secure d--------- system system 2010-12-24 03:41 sdcard whereas if I go to the directory where I created emu_sdcard - I see a lock has been issued, as shown here C:dir android-dev\emu_sdcard Volume in drive C is Preload Volume Serial Number is A4F3-6C29 Directory of C:\android-dev\emu_sdcard 12/24/2010 03:41 AM . 12/24/2010 03:41 AM .. 12/24/2010 03:17 AM 8,388,608 emu_logFile 12/24/2010 03:41 AM emu_logFile.lock 1 File(s) 8,388,608 bytes 3 Dir(s) 50,347,704,320 bytes free I have looked at these and other SO questions Android Emulator sdcard push error: Read-only file system (2) Not able to view SDCard folder in the FileExplorer of Android Eclipse I have added the following to AndroidManifest.xml **uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" ** Please let me know your thoughts - what am I missing here? Why does canWrite return false? What should I do to add permissions to sdcard?

• ShowDialog won't run

  I've come across a situation where I try to run a simple line of code in a method Dim res As DialogResult = frmOptions.ShowDialog() but nothing happens. The dialog box will not appear. If I run this method from another location in the code it executes fine (i.e. displays the form in dialog mode and code executes fine thereafter). Hence, it may be the way in which I arrive at this code that is causing my problem, but I cannot see to find what is wrong. When I pause the debugger the line of code is highlighted in green but I can't see to step over it or into it. Any idea what may cause this to happen, or what I should be looking for that might be causing the problem?? Thanks for the help!

• Retrieve input and output parameters for SQL stored procs and functions?

  For a given SQL stored proc or function, I'm trying to obtain its input and output parameters, where applicable, in a Winforms app I'm creating to browse objects and display their parameters and other attributes. So far I've discovered the SQL system function object_definition, which takes a given sysobjects.id and returns the text of that object; also discovered via search this post which describes extracting the parameters in the context of a app using the ADO.NET method DeriveParameters in conjunction with some caching for better performance; and for good measure found some helpful system stored procs from this earlier post on Hidden Features of SQL Server. I'm leaning towards implementing the DeriveParameters method in my C# app, since parsing the output of object_definition seems messy, and I haven't found a hidden feature in that post so far that would do the trick. Is DeriveParameters applicable to both functions and stored procs for purposes of retreiving their parameters, and if so, could someone please provide an example?

• UIImages on UITableView?

  what is the best method to display about 300 png images into a UITableView.. i dont wanna display them at the same time... i have 3 tableViewControllers that will each display about 100 imgaes.. (its for a catalog so the images are important to display) i used [uiimage imageNamed:] but that method caches the images and they dont get released so the memory usage is big.... is there any way to release the cache when the nav controller pushes a different view controller? i also tried [uiimage alloc] initWithContentsOfFile] but the images wont display.... any help?
