• How can I give some basic text editing functionality to a firefox plugin?

  Hello. I'm writing a plugin to Firefox, which is basically a sidebar, that is filled with yaml-formatted information based on what user does on the page (just another web testing solution). I want to enable user to change generated text manually right in the sidebar and: Add code-folding (folding click: \n text: some text to a single line) Add highlighting of registered actions (click, fill and so on) and unregistered actions (syntax errors) How do I do that? Is placing an iframe to the sidebar and trying to do that with html/js the best solution (seen it in a similar one)? As you may have noticed, I'm a newbie in plugin writing, so please excuse if anything.

• What is the best practice for reading a large number of custom settings from a text file?

  So I have been looking through some code I wrote a few years ago for an economic simulation program. Each simulation has a large number of settings that can be saved to a file and later loaded back into the program to re-run the same/similar simulation. Some of the settings are optional or depend on what is being simulated. The code to read back the parameters is basically one very large switch statement (with a few nested switch statements). I was wondering if there is a better way to handle this situation. One line of the settings file might look like this: #RA:1,MT:DiscriminatoryPriceKDoubleAuction,OF:Demo Output.csv,QM:100,NT:5000,KP:0.5 //continues... • Is it possible to implement a lightweight database using Blackberry Persistance options?

  First I would like to explain why I want to use alternate Blackberry Persistance options rather than a Blackberry database itself, say SQLite. The reason is that the application i'm designing, I want it to be used in all the previous versions of Blackberry rather than just the ones having OS 5.0 or greater. Now, coming back to the actual question, I have got a database that I want to replicate to be used in the Blackberry application. The database has 8 tables and each table has approximately 12 different columns. One of the table has 1000 rows. Now if I was to implement this DB for a Blackberry application , keeping in mind that it will work on all the versions of Blackberry, what would be the best way to implement it?

On this website, I want the user to input in multiple text fields (sort of like they take a quiz) and then the program will make a text file based on the user input which the user can download.   For some strange reason, in iPhone OS 3.0 this doesn't work: I made a big fullscreen UILabel with numberOfLines = 0 and baselineAdjustment = UIBaselineAdjustmentNone. It refuses to show the text in the upper left. It's always in the center of the bounding box, aligned to the left. The documentation says: UIBaselineAdjustmentNone Adjust text relative to the top-left corner of the bounding box. This is the default adjustment. Available in iPhone OS 2.0 and later. Probably a framework bug? I started with shiny new labels to test it. Text is centered.

  Hi! I want to upload a large file of size 10M max to my mysql database. Using .htaccess i changed the PHP's own file upload limit to "10485760" = 10M, i am able to upload files upto 10M size without any problem. But i can not insert the file in database if it is more that 1M in size. i am using file_get_contents to read all file data and pass it to the insert query as a string to be inserted into a LONGBLOB field. But files with more than 1M size is not being added to database, though i can use print_r($_FILES) to examine that the file uploaded correctly. Any help will be appreciated and i will need it within next 6 hours. • How to configure default text selection behavior in Windows XP, 7? (eg. mouse click selects entire word vs. mouse click inserts an active cursor)

  I find the mouse click behavior of Windows XP and Windows 7 annoying and intrusive. I don't remember Windows NT being quite this bad, or MacOS 7 - 10 which I used in the nineties. When I'm using a browser and I click on a text field - for example, the address bar, or a search box - the first thing which happens is the entire field is selected.Subsequent clicks seem to select parts of words, often deciding arbitrarily to exclude or include adjacent punctuation. The same in Excel and other apps, and when trying to rename files, so I'm assuming this behavior comes from a system-wide text handling routine. I frequently want to edit text, cut out or replace odd parts of the insides of words or chunks of sentences, and often find that to get a simple cursor to insert I have to click the mouse up to 4 times in succession. I've had to do a lot of this recently and it has been driving me insane. Is there a place at the system level where this can be configured? In a perfect world, I'd like a single click on a new text area to insert a cursor point, and a rapid double click to select the entire area. Words or text within the area could be selected by inserting a cursor, holding down the mouse button and dragging to the exact point where I want the selection to end - even if that's in the middle of a word. No, I don't need or want Windows to "smart select" a word or sentence for me. I've looked in the Mouse and Accessibility Options control panels (Windows XP). Haven't found anything even close. • Why don't the keyboard shortcuts (e.g. hotkeys like Ctrl-C) work in a SharePoint rich-text field?

  I use SharePoint 2010 via Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP. I have a standard input mask for a task consisting of text fields, rich-text fields et al. In text fields, I can use keyboard shortcuts (a.k.a. hotkeys) for editing (Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V) and formatting (Ctrl-B/Ctrl-I), but in the richtext field, none of them work. If I click on the appropriate button, however, the expected function is executed properly - but that is a tedious workaround. What could be the cause? Could it be that the Ctrl key is not recognized at all? (BTW: The problem is not reproducible in Firefox, because it doesn't show the rich-text controls at all. Why is another question.)
