  • Simple "Long Polling" example code?

    I can find lots of information on how Long Polling works (For example, this, and this), but no simple examples of how to implement this in code. All I can find is cometd, which relies on the Dojo JS framework, and a fairly complex server system.. Basically, how would I use Apache to serve the requests, and how would I write a simple script (say, in PHP) which would "long-poll" the server for new messages? The example doesn't have to be scaleable, secure or complete, it just needs to work!

  • how to merge stripped symbols with binary?

    I compiled the Qt Framework with debugging enabled, but the script stripped the debugging symbols from the libraries and saved them as *.debug files -- just like here. Sadly I need these symbols inside the .so files, so I can continue working with them. There seems no way to teach my debugger to load external (non-PDB) symbols. So another way of solving my problem might be converting the .debug files to PDB format, which might also be a problem. Thank you very much!

You were able to create interactive boxes which relates to html elements and you were able to change to color of these boxes to red. It's also possible that it was "just" a javascript script and not a jquery plugin.

  • PHP: Can pcntl_alarm() and socket_select() peacefully exist in the same thread?

    I have a PHP CLI script mostly written that functions as a chat server for chat clients to connect to (don't ask me why I'm doing it in PHP, thats another story haha). My script utilizes the socket_select() function to hang execution until something happens on a socket, at which point it wakes up, processes the event, and waits until the next event. Now, there are some routine tasks that I need performed every 30 seconds or so (check of tempbanned users should be unbanned, save user databases, other assorted things). From what I can tell, PHP doesn't have very great multi-threading support at all. My first thought was to compare a timestamp every time the socket generates an event and gets the program flowing again, but this is very inconsistent since the server could very well sit idle for hours and not have any of my cleanup routines executed. I came across the PHP pcntl extensions, and it lets me use assign a time interval for SIGALRM to get sent and a function get executed every time it's sent. This seems like the ideal solution to my problem, however pcntl_alarm() and socket_select() clash with each other pretty bad. Every time SIGALRM is triggered, all sorts of crazy things happen to my socket control code. My program is fairly lengthy so I can't post it all here, but it shouldn't matter since I don't believe I'm doing anything wrong code-wise. My question is: Is there any way for a SIGALRM to be handled in the same thread as a waiting socket_select()? If so, how? If not, what are my alternatives here? Here's some output from my program. My alarm function simply outputs "Tick!" whenever it's called to make it easy to tell when stuff is happening.   • Why use a whitelist for HTML sanitizing?

    I've often wondered -- why use a whitelist as opposed to a blacklist when sanitizing HTML input? How many sneaky HTML tricks are there to open XSS vulnerabilities? Obviously script tags and frames are not allowed, and a whitelist would be used on the fields in HTML elements, but why disallow most of everything?

  • Unable to use JConsole with Tomcat running as windows service

    I am running tomcat 6.0.18 as a windows service. In the service applet the jvm is configured default, i.e. it is using jvm.dll of the JRE. I am trying to monitor this application with JConsole but cannot connect to it locally. I added the parameter -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote (which works when starting tomcat with the start.bat script). But the jvm does not seem to pick up the parameter.

What works on Linux and Netbsd there is a symlink _mymodule.so --> ../.libs/libmymodule.so but on osx, python's import mymodule won't find _mymodule.dylib --> ../.libs/libmymodule.dylib I've tried adding export DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=.:$DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH to the script env, nogo.   • Prevent Apache from logging 404 Errors, logging all other errors

    I would like to disable 404 errors from appearing in my Apache error logs. The reason for this is that I have a custom page that handles 404 errors, performing any necessary redirects. If no valid redirect is found in this 404 page, then a nice page appears and the url and other information are logged by the script. Because of this, I do not need 404 errors in my Apache error log. Is there any way to just disable 404s short of doing a custom pipe?

One common structure in method calls in ObjC leaves me a bit puzzled. -(id) initWithPressure: (float) pressure treadDepth: (float) treadDepth; (in ECMAscript)Would this be most similar to 1 method call with multiple arguments OR 2 method calls, each with a single argument?

  • Cruisecontrol.NET & IIS7 Static File Handler Problem

    I'm trying to get Cruisecontrol.NET running with Server 2008/IIS7 and when I try and navigate to the dashboard I get the following error: HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler. I'm a bit lost in IIS7 so it could be something pretty straightforward. They (cc.net) do some funny stuff with http handlers in the web.config which may be related to the problem: Anyone have any pointers?
