• Will the following NHibernate interface mapping work?

  I'd like to program against interfaces when working with NHibernate due to type dependency issues within the solution I am working with. SO questions such as this indicate it is possible. I have an ILocation interface and a concrete Location type. Will the following work? • why unsigned int 0xFFFFFFFF is equal to int -1?

  perhaps it's a very stupid question but I'm having a hard time figuring this out =) in C or C++ it is said that the maximum number a size_t (an unsigned int data type) can hold is the same as casting -1 to that data type. for example see http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1420982/invalid-value-for-sizet Why?? I'm confused.. I mean, (talking about 32 bit ints) AFAIK the most significant bit holds the sign in a signed data type (that is, bit 0x80000000 to form a negative number). then, 1 is 0x00000001.. 0x7FFFFFFFF is the greatest positive number a int data type can hold. then, AFAIK the binary representation of -1 int should be 0x80000001 (perhaps I'm wrong). why/how this binary value is converted to anything completely different (0xFFFFFFFF) when casting ints to unsigned?? or.. how is it possible to form a binary -1 out of 0xFFFFFFFF? I have no doubt that in C: ((unsigned int)-1) == 0xFFFFFFFF or ((int)0xFFFFFFFF) == -1 is equally true than 1 + 1 == 2, I'm just wondering why. thanks!

  This was originally a question, but is now a code enhancement, since it's a very minor (but useful) update. When heading (or other) text is used as a link with sIFR 3, you now get the two 'open link / open link in new window' options in the right-click flash context menu for the link. When I came across sIFR for the first time yesterday, I was wanting to copy a header (h2) link to the clipboard, on a site that used sIFR 2.x, and was frustrated that I couldn't.   I'm trying to write life in F# using accelerator v2, but for some odd reason my output isn't square despite all my arrays being square - It appears that everything but a rectangular area in the top left of the matrix is being set to false. I've got no idea how this could be happening as all my operations should treat the entire array equally. • Python halts while iteratively processing my 1GB csv file

  I have two files: metadata.csv: contains an ID, followed by vendor name, a filename, etc hashes.csv: contains an ID, followed by a hash The ID is essentially a foreign key of sorts, relating file metadata to its hash. I wrote this script to quickly extract out all hashes associated with a particular vendor. It craps out before it finishes processing hashes.csv stored_ids = [] # this file is about 1 MB entries = csv.reader(open(options.entries, "rb")) for row in entries: # row[2] is the vendor if row[2] == options.vendor: # row[0] is the ID stored_ids.append(row[0]) # this file is 1 GB hashes = open(options.hashes, "rb") # I iteratively read the file here, # just in case the csv module doesn't do this. for line in hashes: # not sure if stored_ids contains strings or ints here... # this probably isn't the problem though if line.split(",")[0] in stored_ids: # if its one of the IDs we're looking for, print the file and hash to STDOUT print "%s,%s" % (line.split(",")[2], line.split(",")[4]) hashes.close() This script gets about 2000 entries through hashes.csv before it halts. What am I doing wrong? • jQueryUI Slider handle not moving

  I'm trying to implement a jQuery slider with increments. I've gone from, the actual project page, to a test page of the project with just the slider, to just the slider. In all cases I've been unable to get the handle to move. It also seems to have a width of 1px or similar. • Database design for a media server containing movies, music, tv and everything in between?

  In the near future I am attempting to design a media server as a personal project. MY first consideration to get the project underway is architecture, it will certainly be web based but more specifically than that I am looking for suggestions on the database design. So far I am considering something like the following, where I am using [] to represent a table, the first text is the table name to give an idea of purpose and the items within {} would be fields of the table. Also not, fid is functional id referencing some other table. [Item {id, value/name, description, link, type}] - this could be any entity, single song or whole music album, game, movie - almost see this as a recursive relation, ie. a song is an item but an album that song is part of is also an item or for example a tv season is an item, with multiple items being tv episodes [Type {id, fid, mime type, etc}] - file type specific information - could identify how code handles streaming/sending this item to a user [Location {id, fid, path to file?}] [Users {id, username, email, password, ...? }] - user account information [UAC {id, fid, acess level}] - i almost feel its more flexible to seperate access control permissions form the user accounts themselves [ItemLog {id, fid, fid2, timestamp}] - fid for user id, and fid2 for item id - this way we know what user access what when [UserLog {id, fid, timestamp}] -both are logs for access, whether login or last item access [Quota {id, fid, cap}] - some sort of way to throttle users from queing up the entire site and letting it download ... Suggestions or comments are welcome as the hope is that this project will be a open source project once some code is laid out.

• AJAX Submit to PHP still loading page after preventDefault()

  I have a webpage that I am using .ajax to send variables to a php script. The php page is loading into the browser as if I was navigating to it. The script is loading the data correctly, so my issue is stopping the navigation and keeping the user on the original page. • ASP.NET MVC 2 VB, Not recognising my import.

  I had a problem with a project I converted from C# to VB, in that the VB version it cannot seem to find an object even though I declared it with an Import statement at the top. I created a new, default MVC 2 VB project, and the same problem occurs there. I create a new MVC 2 application, I then add a reference to System.Data.Services.Client, and in my Index.aspx, in the Content area, I type <% Dim x As DataServiceQueryContinuation %> which is what I want to use. It gives me a blue squiggly line and says Type 'DataServiceQueryContinuation' is not defined. At the top of the page, I add this: <%@ Import Namespace="System.Data.Services.Client" %> The error persists. My original C# version has no such error. I also get this warning: Warning 2 Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'System.Data.Services.Client' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. e:\ASPNETDEBUG\MvcApplication1\MvcApplication1\Views\Home\Index.aspx 10 9 MvcApplication1 Examining the DLL using the tool provided shows that it does have a public member. Also when typing the above, System.Data. provides intellisense but there is no 'Services'. Any ideas?

  I am working on zend framework, PHP and jQuery. I am working on popups sometimes. When any popup is open on the screen, we can still clicks links on webpage behind popup which causes some unexpected behaviour. How can I disable a webpage behind popup. I have seen some web application in which when popup appears then webpage behind popup become shady. I have read some tutorial about this. In each tutorial a link is used to open a dialog and an special attribute is added in for modal. But I have a different case I have to open dialog on some condition in action. • How to determine if a registry key is redirected by WOW64?

  Is it possible to determine whether or not a given registry key is redirected? My problem is that I want to enumerate registry keys in both the 32-bit and 64-bit registry views in a generic manner from a 32-bit application. I could simply open each key twice, first with KEY_WOW64_64KEY and then with KEY_WOW64_32KEY. However, if the key is not redirected this gives you exactly the same key and you end up enumerating the exact same content twice; this is what I am trying to avoid. I did find some documentation on it, but it looks like the only way is to examine the hive and do a bunch of string comparisons on the key. Another possibility I thought of is to try to open Wow6432Node on each subkey; if it exists then the key must be redirected. I.e. if I am trying to open HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows I would try to open the following keys: HKCU\Wow6432Node, HKCU\Software\Wow6432Node, HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Wow6432Node, and HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Wow6432Node. Unfortunately, the documentation seems to imply that a child of a redirected key is not necessarily redirected so that route also has issues. So, what are my options here?

• How do I reset a form in an ajax callback?

  I am sending a form using simple ajax and returning the results in a div above the form. The problem is that after the form is submitted and validated, I display a thank you and want to reset the form so they don't just press the submit button again...
