For example, you can add a method (with a default implementation) to an abstract class without breaking old implementations of the class". What does it mean (especially what means "breaking old implementations of the class")?   Hello everyone, I am designing a transportation agency/workflow system, and it including 3 types of people, customer who requests to transport some stuff, drivers who deliver the stuff, and truck manager who manages transport source/destination truck coordination and communicates/organizes drivers. The system is expected to be a web site, and 3 kinds of people could use the web site to submit request, accept request, monitor status of specific stuff transportation, etc. The web site is more like an open agency or a workflow system. I am wondering whether there are any existing technologies, tools or projects (better to be open source, but not a must) which I could build my application faster based on?   I am using BizTalk 2009 and I have a flat file that is similar to the following "0162892172","TIM ","LastName ","760 "," ","COMANCHE ","LN " "0143248282","GEORGE ","LastName ","625 "," ","ENID ","AVE " When I parse it and start mapping it I need to get rid of the quotation marks. I have marked the Wrap Character attribute for the schema as a quotation mark but it doesn't remove it when BizTalk is parsing the file. Is there an easy way to specify the removal of a wrap character or am I going to have to run it through a script functiod every time? Also I would like to be able to remove the trailing spaces as well, if at all possible.

• I'm having a problem identifying a floating point exception.

  I'm using c++ in visual studio express to generate random expression trees for use in a genetic algorithm type of program. Because they are random, the trees often generate (I'll call them exceptions, I'm not sure what they are) Thanks to a suggestion by George, I turned the mask _MCW_EM on so that hardware interrupts are turned off. (the default) So, the program runs uninterrupted, but some of the values returned are: -1.#INF, -1.#NAN, -1.#INV. I don't know how to identify these so that I can throw an exeption: if ( variable == -1.#INF) ?? DigitalRoss in this post seemed to have the solution, but as I understood it I couldn't make it work. I've been looking all over the place for this simple bit of code, that I assumed would be used all the time, but have had no luck. thanks

  Dont ask how this works but currently it does ("^\|(.?)\|*$")....kinda. This removes all extra pipes...part one....I have searched all over no anwser yet. I am using VB2011 beta...asp web form......vb coding though! I want to capture special character pipe (|) which is used to seperate words...i.e. car|truck|van|cycle problem is users lead with, trail with, use multiple, and use spaces before and after...i.e. |||car||truck | van || cycle. another example: george bush|micheal jordon|bill gates|steve jobs <-- this would be correct but when I do remove space it takes correct space out. so I want to get rid of whitespace leading, trailing, any space before | and space after | and only allow one pipe (|)....in between alphanumeric of course.

  Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise. I am wondering whether dead lock issue is only caused by cross dependencies (e.g. task A has lock on L1 but waits on lock on L2, and at the same time, task B has lock on L2 but waits on lock on L1)? Are there any other reasons and scenarios which will cause deadlock? Are there any other way which will causes dead lock -- e.g. timeout (a S/I/D/U statement do not return for a very long time, and deadlock error will be returned) or can not acquire lock for a long time but not caused by cross-dependencies (e.g. task C needs to get lock on table T, but another task D acquire the lock on table T without releasing the lock, which causes task C not be able to get lock on table T for a long time)? thanks in advance, George

I want to transfer update from a table in source database to a table in destination database (two tables are of the same schema, both of them are using a single column as unique primary key). The transfer rule is (in short, the rule is keeping the destination database the same as source database because of the update of the source database), if there is a new row in source database but not in destination database, insert the row in destination database; if a row not exists in source database but exists in destination database, delete the row in destination database; if a row's content (i.e. columns other than primary key columns) changes in source database, update the new content into destination database. thanks in advance, George

I have a table and one of its column is referring to another column in another table (in the same database) as foreign key, here is the related SQL statement, in more details, column [AnotherID] in table [Foo] refers to another table [Goo]'s column [GID] as foreign key. [GID] is primary key and clustered index on table [Goo]. My question is, in this way, if I do not create index on [AnotherID] column on [Foo] explicitly, will there be an index created automatically for [AnotherID] column on [Foo] -- because its foreign key reference column [GID] on table [Goo] already has primary clustered key index? I am wondering why even a single delete statement of this store procedure will cause deadlock if executed by multiple threads at the same time? For the delete statement, Param1 is a column of table FooTable, Param1 is a foreign key of another table (refers to another primary key clustered index column of the other table). There is no index on Param1 itself for table FooTable.   Hello everyone, I need to develop an instant messenger (like MSN Messagner, but only simple and basic function is fine), based on .Net (C#). I want to integrate the instant messenger with my current web site user. I want to know any open source (better C#) instant messenger to reference? BTW: some of the users are using internal IP address (behind a gateway or proxy, like 10.10.xxx.xxx) -- so in this scenario two users can not use point to point message transfer if both of them are behind a gateway?   Hello everyone, I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise with VSTS 2008, and I am developing a simple web application using ASP.Net and Forms Authentication. When I am using the configuration tool/menu of VSTS of my ASP.Net project (I want to use this tool to manually add some Forms authentication users), I met with the following error (SqlException), Trying to attach file D:\Projects\MyTest\App_Data\aspnetdb.mdf to automatically named database failed. It may be caused by existing the same name database, or may be caused by specified file can not be opened or caused by the specified file exists in UNC share. In my computer, there is no aspnetdb.mdf under dir D:\Projects\MyTest\App_Data, and I have used aspnet_regsql to generate database successfully before I run the configuration tool. When we met with such error message from stored procedure, Message 1205, Level 13, State 52, the process Pr_FooV2, Line 9 Services (Process ID 111) and another process is deadlock in the lock | communication buffer resources, and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction. I am wondering whether such messages are stored in log files? I searched log folder of my SQL Server 2008 installation root (in my environment, it is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log), but can not find such files. thanks in advance, George

• deep zoom is not displayed

  I am using VSTS 2008 + C# + .Net 3.5 + Windows Vista Enterprise x86. I have used Silverlight Deep Zoom composer tool to export my composed images into Siverlight type. Everything is previewed fine after export successful message (I select browse from browser). But when I click the Test.html in the exported project to show Deep Zoom effects from browser, nothing is displayed. Here is my screen snapshot. Any ideas what is wrong? http://i41.tinypic.com/2dac561.jpg EDIT 1: to my surprise, there is no clientbin folder in my exported project. I have made two screen snapshots for, my project folder generated by Deep Zoom Composer under Exported Data folder; the content of GeneratedImages folder under my project folder. • Why is firefox 4 not HW accelerated?

  At first i thought it was my computer but then i tried chrome. Why isnt firefox not hardware accelerated? The first screenshot shows chrome at 23% usage. The 2nd shows 59%. I have 2 cpus which is why it isnt 100% usage.   The problem I have been trying to install SQL Server 2012 on Windows Server 2012. All the software seems to be there by default on Server 2012 and my hardware meets the reqs. Copy the installation media to the local drive and try to install from that (rather than a DVD). This produced the same error. Based on another error message, I installed .NET 4.0 (which apparently is not on Server 2012 out of the box). Same error. Install from command line.   I have tried to setup PerformancePoint Services on SharePoint 2010, but every time I try to use the dashboard designer, I get this error: “An error has occurred attempting to contact the specified SharePoint site” I have tried these steps but it hasn't helped. • Motherboard HDDPWR1 connector

  I need help identifying the name of a connector. I have a Gateway DX4870-UB318 computer, I opened the case and wanted to attach another hard drive, but to my surprise one existing SATA hard drive was connected to the motherboard with this connector: And here is the spot on the Motherboard where the power was supplied. What is the name of this adapter and where can I get another one? Clues: This computer was bought new October 2013 from best buy, box number: DX4870-UB318. The gateway folks won't divulge the type of motherboard it has nor give specs on it. On the wire itself is an identification code: H.35090NJ01-000 Next to the connector on the motherboard it says: HDDPWR1 and the second one says HDDPWR2. This cable has two SATA power connectors and one mystery connector. The power supply has no molex power cables and no SATA power connectors! This is the most bizarre hard drive power system I've seen. I guess the motherboard folks are trying to remove the burden for desktop power supplies to provide adapters (molex, SATA, other) to CD's and hard drives. Can someone put a name on that white flat 6 pin HDD Power Connector? My Solution I can buy a "SATA Power Y Splitter Cable" to provide more spaces to power sata devices.

  Hi, I migrated a site from IIS6 to Windows Server 2008 R2 IIS7.5. It has an asmx web service, which is working fine locally, but returns this 500 error when called from another machine: Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in /myMethodName The solution in previous versions is to add this to the web.config for the protocols needed (typically omitting HttpGet for production): <system.web> <webServices> <protocols> <add name="HttpGet" /> <add name="HttpPost" /> <add name="HttpSoap" /> </protocols> </webServices> </system.web> This is posted everywhere, including http://stackoverflow.com/questions/657313/request-format-is-unrecognized-for-url-unexpectedly-ending-in For IIS7.5, this throws a configuration error; I understand this section doesn't belong, but tried it anyway. I also boiled down the asmx call to a simple hello world. I tested with POST also, just to eliminate any issues with GET.   I'm trying to get an mac mini running snow leopard server to join a windows domain here. The windows domain server is running Windows server 2008. When I go to "Accounts" in my System Preferences, and lick on "Join", I get this error: "Unable to add server. Node name wasn't found. (2000)" In my console messages I find this: 10-04-06 11:42:25 AM System Preferences1452 -[ODCAddServerSheetController handleOtherActionError: gotError: Error Domain=com.apple.OpenDirectory Code=2000 UserInfo=0x2004f2f80 "Custom call 82 to Active Directory failed.", Node name wasn't found. I specified a FQDN for the domain server, so I am totally confused as to why it would list "domain = com.apple...." in that error. I've tried firing up the Directory Utility and trying to join a domain via the Active Directory option there. Again I fill in the FQDN, and the proper administrator/password acount info. Now I get a different error: "Invalid Domain An invalid Domain and Forest combination was specified. You should enter a fully qualified DNS name for the domain and forest (e.g., ads.company.com)." If anyone has any pointers or suggestions this would be appreciated.
