• Newbie: Render RGB to GTK widget -- howto?

  Hi All, Big picture: I want to render an RGB image via GTK on a linux box. I'm a frustrated GTK newbie, so please forgive me. I assume that I should create a Drawable_area in which to render the image -- correct? Do I then have to create a graphics context attached to that area?   I'm trying to display a grid of items, with each item having a photo on the left and a description on the right, something like this: ---------------------------- | photo | item description | ---------------------------- I want to display these items in a 3x3 grid on the page. I have the grid part worked out, what I'm having trouble with is alignment of the photo and description. When the height of the description exceeds the height of the photo, I don't want the text to wrap under the photo. I essentially want to maintain two separate columns. I have tried this: .item{ padding-left: 60px; // size of photo + 5px margin background-position: 5px 0px; } <div class="item" style="background-image: url('/img/photo123.jpg');"> Here is the item description </div> That has worked very well. the markup is clean and I don't have to mess around with absolute/relative, however, now I can't add a border to the image. • Manually Trigger or Prevent Javascript Lazy Loading in Website from Bookmarklet

  One of the problems with using a bookmarklet for grabbing images on a page is that if a website uses lazy loading, the bookmarklet won't detect the image because it will have a placeholder, e.g. "grey.gif" and not the actual source of the image. Javascript on page load, is run to replace these urls. I'm looking for a solution to retrieve those images that are not being displayed by either triggering or preventing Lazy Loading from running. This bookmarklet isn't limited to one specific domain. So far some ideas I've had are: Ping the domain and retrieve the page html if no images are found the first time around: Problem: this then requires parsing the actual html. Problem: with lazy loading, a few images will always show, just none below the fold. Scroll page to initiate lazy loading when bookmarklet is clicked, then scroll back to top. Trigger Lazy Loading from inside bookmarklet using script. Lazy Loader adds the "original" attribute, potentially could check if attribute exists w/ value. Problem: ???

• iOS Switching an embedded view in storyboard

  I have been trying to figure this out all day and I know it should be able to be done, but being new to iOS development using Objective-C and not Appcelerator I'm having newbie issues. What I am trying to accomplish is to have an embedded view in one of my other views, but to be able to switch which view is embedded through programming. I am using storyboards. When I tried to use the view container it displays the attached view, but I cannot attach multiple views to the container in the storyboard. I drew up an image, but to my annoyance I cannot post an image on here because I don't have enough "rep" points, so I posted it on my site: http://static.c6gx.com/images/iphone-embedded-views-diagram.jpg Later on I would like what appears to be a push segue, within that view container, but first I just want to be able to switch between embedded view 1, 2, 3, etc. Am I supposed to be using a view container to accomplish this, or some other type of controller? Then how would I call the transition to change the view? Thank you for any help you can provide.

  I have a VPS running Centos with Kloxo on and I was wondering how I would upgrade the PHP to 5.3 - It's currently running 5.2.6. • Improve heavy work in a loop in multithreading

  I'm trying to upload a picture to a specific website using php cURL but I don't really understand what parameters do I need to send because the data looks a bit weird . The issue that I have is that I don't understand what is the boundary, where do I get it from (because it doesn't appear in the html document that generates the POST and how should I make the post . • WPF - Transparency - Stream Desktop Content

  Greetings I'm in the process of making a Scoreboard for a game (Starcraft II). This scoreboard is being made as a WPF Application with a C# code-behind. I already have a version which works for 90% in WinForms but I lacked the support to easily make it look a lot nicer which are available in WPF. The point of this application will be to form a kind of overlay on top of a running game. This game is in Fulscreen(Windowed Mode) so when in WinForms I coded it so that it should always be on top. It would do so and that was no problem. Since the main look of the app in WPF is based on an image with a transparent background I have set most Background values to Transparent. However when I do this the entire application does not get registered by streaming software. For example it just shows my Desktop or the game I'm playing but not my application even though it IS there. I can see it with my own eyes but the audience on the stream cannot. Does anyone have any experience with this matter because it's really doing my head in. My entire application will be useless if it is not visible on streams. If I have to put the background on a color rather than transparent the UI will be completely demolished as well in terms of looks. I'm basically trying to make a game-overlay in C# & WPF. I have read you can do this on different ways as well but I have little to no knowledge of C++ nor do I know anything about DirectX Thank you for your time reading and your possible insights. Edit: The best solution would be an overlay similar to that one of Steam/Xfire/Dolby Axon. Edit 2: I've had no luck with all the suggestions so I basically made the transparent bits of my image non transparent and let the user decide which one to use depending on what streaming software they would be using.

• How to make flash movie to scale proportunatly to div width?

  I have put together an example page detailing my problem My website is going to have a main wrapper that is set to a max-width property for compatible browsers. It will stretch to 940px across at max. When scaled down I would like the swf to scale proportionately with it. Like an image with width percent applied. The flash movie has the dimensions of 940 × 360 pixels. I can't seem to figure out the correct attributes to add to the embed tag to get it to do this. I am currently using jquery flash embed, but am open to other options, though this is my ideal. In the example I have set the flash background to black. When resize the browser window the flash movie doesn't scale proportionately to the div, only the photo does, leaving a blank canvas (black), while the div height stays the same. I can't add a height value in the CSS. How do I make this scale correctly? Adding a noscale param only crops the image. The swf's height doesn't scale also. All of my code can be viewed in the linked examples source.

  I have an image stack of 500 images (jpeg) of 640x480. I intend to make 500 pixels (1st pixels of all images) as a list and then send that via COM1 to FPGA where I do my further processing. I have a couple of questions here: How do I import all the 500 images at a time into python and how do i store it? How do I send the 500 pixel list via COM1 to FPGA? I tried the following: Converted the jpeg image to intensity values (each pixel is denoted by a number between 0 and 255) in MATLAB, saved the intensity values in a text file, read that file using readlines(). But it became too cumbersome to make the intensity value files for all the 500 images! Used NumPy to put the read files in a matrix and then pick the first pixel of all images. But when I send it, its coming like: [56, 61, 78, ... ,71, 91]. Is there a way to eliminate the [ ] and , while sending the data serially? Thanks in Advance! :)

• Determine process using a port, without sudo

  I'd like to find out which process (in particular, the process id) is using a given port. The one catch is, I don't want to use sudo, nor am I logged in as root. The processes I want this to work for are run by the same user that I want to find the process id - so I would have thought this was simple. Both lsof and netstat won't tell me the process id unless I run them using sudo - they will tell me that the port is being used though. As some extra context - I have various apps all connecting via SSH to a server I manage, and creating reverse port forwards. Once those are set up, my server does some processing using the forwarded port, and then the connection can be killed. If I can map specific ports (each app has their own) to processes, this is a simple script. Any suggestions? This is on an Ubuntu box, by the way - but I'm guessing any solution will be standard across most Linux distros.

  Hi there! So I'm making something for which users need to upload images from a canvas element (on the front end) using Wordpress's in-built Media Upload API. I need to output the followng HTML code: <li><a href="images/resize_FILENAME.ext"><img src="images/thumb_FILENAME.ext"></a></li> The 'resize_' and 'thumb_' use a timestamp to identify, so they have the same ending, just a different prefix. So, for example, if I search the directory for an image with a prefix of 'resize_', I need to insert that into the a tag, and then remove the '_resize' prefix, and add the '_thumb' prefix for the img tag. I then need to be able to do that for each image in the directory. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I should add: I'm assuming php would be easiest for this, but if an alternative exists that would work too. I'm also using jQuery if javascript would be better.

• jCarousel - achieving an active state AND wrap:circular

  Hey folks A while back I implemented the jCarousel image solution for a client that required a numbered active state. After a bit of googling a found the answer but noticed that the preferred circular option would not work. What would happen is that once the carousel had cycled through all its (5) images, upon the return to the first, the active state would be lost, because, according to jcarousel it was actually the 6th (the index just keeps on incrementing). I just went ahead and instead used wrap:'both' which at least had a correctly functioning active state. However now the client says they dont like this effect and simply want the animation to return to position 1 after the final image. This means I need to get'wrap: 'both' working somehow. Below is my current code. • Custom UIProgressView drawing weirdness

  I am trying to create my own custom UIProgressView by subclassing it and then overwrite the drawRect function. Everything works as expected except the progress filling bar. I can't get the height and image right. The images are both in Retina resolution and the Simulator is in Retina mode. The images are called: "[email protected]" (28px high) and "[email protected]" (32px high). • What are possible/good ways to prototype iPhone applications?

  This is intentionally left broad. If you wanted to show users what iPhone/mobile applications could to for them. The more interactive the better, but it must be quick to build as you can't code up every idea. Let us assume real-time games are out of scope. Throw out ideas or state which approach would be best. Here are some of my ideas, what are yours? Hack a app that loads mostly web or image content, but has hyperlinks to get around in. This would mean static data. Build screens which look great but can only be navigated in a story board type fashion. Load the web version or equivalent on the iPhone and say: now image the buttons and navigation is better. A paper based prototype. Flash or video walk through running on the phone. String existing iPhone apps and web pages together with minimal glue just to convey the idea. Can anyone share prototyping methods for other mobile devices? Ex: The palm prototype was just a block of wood and note pad that was carried around.
