  • Invalid Label Error with JSON request

    - by Oscar Godson
    I've read about this a lot and I just can't figure it out. It has nothing to do with MY code, it has to do with the feed or something because if I swap it with a Twitter feed it returns an Object object which is perfect. $.getJSON('http://rockbottom.nozzlmedia.com:8000/api/portland/?count=1&callback=?',function(json){ console.log(json) }); And i get an "invalid label" error. Any ideas?

  • small scale web site - global javascript file style/format/pattern - improving maintainability

    - by yaya3
    I frequently create (and inherit) small to medium websites where I have the following sort of code in a single file (normally named global.js or application.js or projectname.js). If functions get big, I normally put them in a seperate file, and call them at the bottom of the file below in the $(document).ready() section. If I have a few functions that are unique to certain pages, I normally have another switch statement for the body class inside the $(document).ready() section. How could I restructure this code to make it more maintainable? Note: I am less interested in the functions innards, more so the structure, and how different types of functions should be dealt with. I've also posted the code here - http://pastie.org/999932 in case it makes it any easier var ProjectNameEnvironment = {}; function someFunctionUniqueToTheHomepageNotWorthMakingConfigurable () { $('.foo').hide(); $('.bar').click(function(){ $('.foo').show(); }); } function functionThatIsWorthMakingConfigurable(config) { var foo = config.foo || 700; var bar = 200; return foo * bar; } function globallyRequiredJqueryPluginTrigger (tooltip_string) { var tooltipTrigger = $(tooltip_string); tooltipTrigger.tooltip({ showURL: false ... }); } function minorUtilityOneLiner (selector) { $(selector).find('li:even').not('li ul li').addClass('even'); } var Lightbox = {}; Lightbox.setup = function(){ $('li#foo a').attr('href','#alpha'); $('li#bar a').attr('href','#beta'); } Lightbox.init = function (config){ if (typeof $.fn.fancybox =='function') { Lightbox.setup(); var fade_in_speed = config.fade_in_speed || 1000; var frame_height = config.frame_height || 1700; $(config.selector).fancybox({ frameHeight : frame_height, callbackOnShow: function() { var content_to_load = config.content_to_load; ... }, callbackOnClose : function(){ $('body').height($('body').height()); } }); } else { if (ProjectNameEnvironment.debug) { alert('the fancybox plugin has not been loaded'); } } } // ---------- order of execution ----------- $(document).ready(function () { urls = urlConfig(); (function globalFunctions() { $('.tooltip-trigger').each(function(){ globallyRequiredJqueryPluginTrigger(this); }); minorUtilityOneLiner('ul.foo') Lightbox.init({ selector : 'a#a-lightbox-trigger-js', ... }); Lightbox.init({ selector : 'a#another-lightbox-trigger-js', ... }); })(); if ( $('body').attr('id') == 'home-page' ) { (function homeFunctions() { someFunctionUniqueToTheHomepageNotWorthMakingConfigurable (); })(); } });

  • Still cant find a solution... about ajax call

    - by booota
    Okay I have this ajax call $('.updatecom .registercomplaint').click(function(){ updatecomplaints(); }); This calls the function updatecomplaints() function updatecomplaints() { var tno = $(".updatecom #tno").val(); var status = $(".updatecom #status").val(); if(status=='DONE') { $(".updatecom #con").val(''); } var tname = $(".updatecom #tname").val(); var rg11 = $(".updatecom #crg11").val(); var rg06 = $(".updatecom #crg06").val(); var tvpins = $(".updatecom #tvpins").val(); var jointer = $(".updatecom #jointer").val(); var cquantity = $(".updatecom #conqty").val(); var nooftv = $(".updatecom #tvno").val(); var misc = $(".updatecom #misc").val(); var tcomments = $(".updatecom #tcomments").val(); var con = $(".updatecom #con").val(); //alert(tno+status+tname+rg11+rg06+tvpins+jointer+cquantity+nooftv+misc+tcomments+con); $.ajax( { type: "POST", url: "up_functions.php", data: "ticket="+ tno +"& opt=upcom" +"& status="+ status +"& tname="+ tname +"& rg11="+ rg11 +"& rg06="+ rg06 +"& tvpins="+ tvpins +"& jointer="+ jointer +"& cquantity="+ cquantity +"& nooftv="+ nooftv +"& misc="+ misc +"& tcomments="+ tcomments +"& con="+ con, success: function(response) { alert(response); } }); } here is my up_functions.php $tno = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['ticket'])); $status = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['status'])); $tname = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['tname'])); $rg11 = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['rg11'])); $rg06 = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['rg06'])); $tvpins = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['tvpins'])); $jointer = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['jointer'])); $cquantity = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['cquantity'])); $nooftv = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['nooftv'])); $misc = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['misc'])); $tcomments = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['tcomments'])); $con = htmlspecialchars(trim($_REQUEST['con'])); $result=$ptr->upcomticketinfo($tno,$status,$tname,$rg11,$rg06,$tvpins,$jointer,$cquantity,$nooftv,$misc,$tcomments,$con); echo $result; and here is my upconticketinfo() php function function upcomticketinfo($tno,$status,$tname,$rg11,$rg06,$tvpins,$jointer,$cquantity,$nooftv,$misc,$tcomments,$con) { if($con!='' || $con!=NULL) { $this->query = "update `booking discription` set `STATUS`='$status',`CLOSED ON`='$con' where `TICKET NO`='$tno'"; $this->q_result = mysql_query($this->query,$this->conn) or die(mysql_error()); if($this->q_result) { $query = "update `tech detail` set `TECH NAME`='$tname',`CABLE RG11`='$rg11',`CABLE RG06`='$rg06',`TV PINS USED`='$tvpins',`JOINTER USED`='$jointer',`CONNECTOR QTY`='$cquantity',`NO OF TV`='$nooftv',`MISC`='$misc',`TECH COMMENTS`='$tcomments' where `BOOKING`='$tno'"; $q_result = mysql_query($query,$this->conn) or die(mysql_error()); if($q_result) { $response = "updated"; } else { $response = "error"; } } else { $response = "error"; } } else { $this->query = "update `booking discription` set `STATUS`='$status' where `TICKET NO`='$tno'"; $this->q_result = mysql_query($this->query,$this->conn) or die(mysql_error()); if($this->q_result) { $query = "update `tech detail` set `TECH NAME`='$tname',`CABLE RG11`='$rg11',`CABLE RG06`='$rg06',`TV PINS USED`='$tvpins',`JOINTER USED`='$jointer',`CONNECTOR QTY`='$cquantity',`NO OF TV`='$nooftv',`MISC`='$misc',`TECH COMMENTS`='$tcomments' where `BOOKING`='$tno'"; $q_result = mysql_query($query,$this->conn) or die(mysql_error()); if($q_result) { $response = "updated"; } else { $response = "error"; } } else { $response = "error"; } } return $response; } Question is that, this code is working just fine in IE8 i.e i am using... but it is not working in FF 3.6.3... I have checked each n everything... One thing is that the code works fine on FF too only when i debug the page with firebug debugger. Otherwise the alert in ajax success shows itself with nothing in it... Help me...

  • Custom UI design in Sencha and othere touch framworks

    - by vWebby
    Can someone please guide me regarding which touch framework (javascript) I should use to make a tablet app? I am new to this area and I am looking for something which allows me to play with my own UI design comfortably. I went through sencha as I heard its apt for a tablet app environment but I am (sorry, it might sound odd) not able to make out whether I can use my own UI design to make app in sencha. Or any other framework (stable) allows to use custom UI design?? Any help regarding this is appreciated .. thanks in advance

  • JavaScript - Efficiently find all elements containing one of a large set of strings

    - by noah
    I have a set of strings and I need to find all all of the occurrences in an HTML document. Where the string occurs is important because I need to handle each case differently: String is all or part of an attribute. e.g., the string is foo: <input value="foo"> - Add class ATTR to the element. String is the full text of an element. e.g., <button>foo</button> - Add class TEXT to the element. String is inline in the text of an element. e.g., <p>I love foo</p> - Wrap the text in a span tag with class TEXT. Also, I need to match the longest string first. e.g., if I have foo and foobar, then <p>I love foobar</p> should become <p>I love <span class="TEXT">foobar</span></p>, not <p>I love <span class="TEXT">foo</span>bar</p>. The inline text is easy enough: Sort the strings descending by length and find and replace each in document.body.innerHTML with <span class="TEXT">$1</span>, although I'm not sure if that is the most efficient way to go. For the attributes, I can do something like this: sortedStrings.each(function(it) { document.body.innerHTML.replace(new RegExp('(\S+?)="[^"]*'+escapeRegExChars(it)+'[^"]*"','g'),function(s,attr) { $('[+attr+'*='+it+']').addClass('ATTR'); }); }); Again, that seems inefficient. Lastly, for the full text elements, a depth first search of the document that compares the innerHTML to each string will work, but for a large number of strings, it seems very inefficient. Any answer that offers performance improvements gets an upvote :)

  • Phonegap jqm mixing local and server html files

    - by DavidVdd
    I would like to add some online pages to an application keep them up to date without releasing a new store version. For this I taught I could use jqm ajax navigation to load the external page. (I'm aware that might not be allowed for all platforms.) I have set: $.mobile.allowCrossDomainPages = true; $.mobile.pushStateEnabled = false; This seems to work but the problem is that all my href's and $.mobile.ChangePages would have to be changed to <a href='http://mydomain.com/mypage.html'>link</a> $.mobile.changePage('http://mydomain.com/mypage.html'); in stead of <a href='mypage.html'>link</a> $.mobile.changePage('http://mydomain.com/mypage.html'); I was thinking about overriding the changepage method(found this somewhere) to add a domain when the user is online, but the problem is that this method get's called more then once. var originalChangePage = $.mobile.changePage; $.mobile.changePage = function(to, options) { var o = JSON.stringify(o); try { to = to.replace('file:///android_asset/www/', 'http://mydomain.com/'); } catch (err) { //to isn't always filled in. } originalChangePage(to, options); }; Is there a better way to load html pages locally and online using jqm ajax navigation? Extra info: Phonegap/Cordova version 3.5.0 jqm 1.3.2

  • Scope of variables inside of javascript

    - by wcpro
    I have the following code sample that im trying to wrap my head around $(document).ready(function () { test("load json", function () { length = 0; // length = 0 $.getJSON("plugins/form.json", function (data) { length = data.fields.length; // length = 4 }); ok(length == 4, "length = " + length.toString()); // length = 0? wtf? }); }); the 'length' variable does not persist when the $.getJSON runs. I cant figure out if its because its asynchronous or because the variable is out of scope.

  • Slider with buttons. How to improve?

    - by Kalinin
    I need to make slider. I have content (which should shift horizontally) and two buttons - "right" and "left". If you press the button and hold it, the content starts to move (in the appropriate direction). If you not hold the button, then the movement stops. This behavior is copies the behavior of usual window scrollbar. I wrote code: var animateTime = 1, offsetStep = 5; //event handling for buttons "left", "right" $('.bttR, .bttL') .mousedown(function() { scrollContent.data('loop', true).loopingAnimation($(this)); }) .bind("mouseup mouseout", function(){ scrollContent.data('loop', false); }); $.fn.loopingAnimation = function(el){ if(this.data('loop') == true){ var leftOffsetStr; leftOffsetInt = parseInt(this.css('marginLeft').slice(0, -2)); if(el.attr('class') == 'bttR') leftOffsetStr = (leftOffsetInt - offsetStep).toString() + 'px'; else if(el.attr('class') == 'bttL') leftOffsetStr = (leftOffsetInt + offsetStep).toString() + 'px'; this.animate({marginLeft: leftOffsetStr}, animateTime, function(){ $(this).loopingAnimation(el); }) } return this; } But it does have a few things that I do not like: Always call the function animation (loopingAnimation) - I think that this is an extra load (not good). When moving content he "twitches and trembling" - (it's not pretty). How can I solve this problem more elegantly and without the drawbacks of my code?

  • Inherit all methods of object (including "constructor"), but modify some of them.

    - by Kirzilla
    Hello, Let's imagine that we have object Animal $.Animal = function(options) { this.defaults = { name : null } this.options = $.extend(this.defaults, options); } $.Animal.prototype.saySomething = function() { alert("I'm animal!"); } Now I'd like to create Cat object. It is absolutely similar to $.Annimal, but method saySomething() will look like this one... $.Cat.prototype.saySomething = function() { alert("I'm cat!"); } How can I inherit from Animal to create new object Cat and redefine saySomething() method? Thank you.

  • Switching layouts page jumping (improvement to script)

    - by Ricardo Zea
    Hello, I'm using this script to switch layouts in a page: $("span.switcher").click(function () { $("span.switcher").toggleClass("swap"); /*!*/ $("ol.search-results").fadeOut("fast", function() { $(this).fadeIn("fast").toggleClass("grid"); }); The script works fine, the problem I have is that if the switch view is down the page, the layout changes and then the page jumps back up. If I add 'return false' right where you see the /* ! */ in the second line the script doesn't work. Also, as you can see, I'm using < span instead of < a since I was told that using other element other than < a would stop the page from jumping. Any idea how to fix the jumping of the page? Thanks.

    I'm attempting to extract the following data from a table via Android / JSOUP however I'm having a bit of trouble nailing down the process. • javascript fit image to box

    - by Manna
    I need to make my image fitting into my div, I want the picture to be only inside the div, the rest of the picture will be behind the other elements. Basically I want to achieve the same effect as here http://tommywebdesigner.com/Home%20Page.html but with the div id="background"and div id="content" i have created. As you can see first i gave margin-bottom="350px to the header in order to create a blank space, here i have the space for the img in my div id="background"which is located under (z-index: -1;) and the rest of the elements is placed over inside the the div id="content" (z-index:2;) I need now a Javascript which fit this image in the div id="background". Now the image is not located between the menu-bar and the rest of the elements Here you can look: http://fiddle.jshell.net/CGJmE/10/ Here the effect i want to achieve playing with these div : http://tommywebdesigner.com/Home%20Page.html The reason why i want to do like that is beacuse in the future maybe i will need to put a video there and i couldn do with background-image as i have done here

  • "Intercepting" user input into text box and removing it

    - by James P
    I have a text box that I would like to do some validation on. At the moment I have this code: function updateChanger() { // Validate input var likeMessage = validateInput($("#like").val()); alert(likeMessage); } function validateInput(input) { input = input.replace(/[^a-zA-Z0-9:\(\/\)\s\.,!~]/g, ""); return input; } This successfully trims out unwanted characters in the likeMessage variable, but the character still gets entered into the text box. I would like to stop that from happening. I know it will have something to do with $("#like").val() but the only thing I can think of is just chopping off the end character from the text box value, would this suffice? Thanks for any help!

  • Livevalidation: only validate when default value is changed

    - by usr122212
    Hello there! I am validating my html form with livevalidation and everything works great except for one feature. I have a input field with a default value age, I only want the livevalidation to validate when it says something other than "age". so maybe the user will type in 20 then the validation will fire checking its things but if left as "age" it won't check it all. But as of now, it just checks everything with a validation script and this is a problem for me as I have lots of fields in my form and some of them are optional so when I hit submit, the livevalidation checks the age field as well even if the user didnt touch it to begin with. Would this be possible with livevalidation ? Thanks for the help.

  • Image swap with a javascript onclick dropdown menu

    - by AzzyDude
    So I've got this code that has an image and when you click it a dropdown menu appears. Pretty simple. The code works fine but I'm trying to incorporate an image swap on click and I'm having difficulty. Here's the HTML and the JS (there's some CSS too, but I'll leave that out): HTML: <div id="header"> <dl class="dropdown"> <dt><a href="#"><img src="images/cogwheel_btn.png"/></a></dt> <dd> <ul> <li><a href="#">Favorites</a></li> <li><a href="#">History</a></li> </ul> </dd> </dl> </div> JS: $(document).ready(function() { $(".dropdown img.flag").addClass("flagvisibility"); $(".dropdown dt a").click(function() { $(".dropdown dd ul").toggle(); }); $(".dropdown dd ul li a").click(function() { var text = $(this).html(); $(".dropdown dt a span").html(text); $(".dropdown dd ul").hide(); $("#result").html("Selected value is: " + getSelectedValue("sample")); }); function getSelectedValue(id) { return $("#" + id).find("dt a span.value").html(); } $(document).bind('click', function(e) { var $clicked = $(e.target); if (!$clicked.parents().hasClass("dropdown")) $(".dropdown dd ul").hide(); }); $("#flagSwitcher").click(function() { $(".dropdown img.flag").toggleClass("flagvisibility"); }); });? I've tried adding lines like ("dt").empty(); and then ("dt").html("new_image") but it causes the dropdown functionality to stop working. Anyone any ideas?

  • It is only uploading first row's file input

    - by user1304328
    I have a application which you can access here. If you open the application please click on the "Add" button a couple of times. This will add a new row into a table below. In each table row there is an AJAX file uploader. Now the problem is that if I click on the "Upload" button in any row except the first row, then the uploading only happens in the first row so it is only uploading the first file input only. Why is it doing this and how can I get it so that when then the user clicks the "Upload" button, the file input within that row of the "Upload" button is uploaded and not the first row being uploaded? Below is the full code where it appends the file AJAX file uploaded in each table row: function insertQuestion(form) { var $tbody = $('#qandatbl > tbody'); var $tr = $("<tr class='optionAndAnswer' align='center'></tr>"); var $image = $("<td class='image'></td>"); var $fileImage = $("<form action='upload.php' method='post' enctype='multipart/form-data' target='upload_target' onsubmit='startUpload();' >" + "<p id='f1_upload_process' align='center'>Loading...<br/><img src='Images/loader.gif' /><br/></p><p id='f1_upload_form' align='center'><br/><label>" + "File: <input name='fileImage' type='file' class='fileImage' /></label><br/><label><input type='submit' name='submitBtn' class='sbtn' value='Upload' /></label>" + "</p> <iframe id='upload_target' name='upload_target' src='#' style='width:0;height:0;border:0px solid #fff;'></iframe></form>"); $image.append($fileImage); $tr.append($image); $tbody.append($tr); } function startUpload(){ document.getElementById('f1_upload_process').style.visibility = 'visible'; document.getElementById('f1_upload_form').style.visibility = 'hidden'; return true; } function stopUpload(success){ var result = ''; if (success == 1){ result = '<span class="msg">The file was uploaded successfully!<\/span><br/><br/>'; } else { result = '<span class="emsg">There was an error during file upload!<\/span><br/><br/>'; } document.getElementById('f1_upload_process').style.visibility = 'hidden'; document.getElementById('f1_upload_form').innerHTML = result + '<label>File: <input name="fileImage" type="file"/><\/label><label><input type="submit" name="submitBtn" class="sbtn" value="Upload" /><\/label>'; document.getElementById('f1_upload_form').style.visibility = 'visible'; return true; }
