• Rails3 server and bundler error: uninitialized constant Bundler (NameError)

  I just install rails 3 and all gems that it need, but when I try to start server, it says about problem in boot script. • Manually setting breakpoints in WinDBG

  I am trying to examine the assembly for an executable using WinDBG, but I am having a hard time getting to it. I want to set a breakpoint at the first instruction in my program, but when I try to do that manually (using the address of the module), WinDBG tells me that it is "unable to insert breakpoint" at that location due to an "Invalid access to memory location." I notice that when I create a breakpoint through the source code GUI, the address is not the same as the first part of my module (In my example: "Win32FileOpen", a simple program I wrote.) Is there a header of some sort that requires adding an offset to the address of my module? In another question, I saw the suggestion: "I would attempt to calculate the breakpoint address as: Module start + code start + code offset" but was unsure where to obtain those values. Can somebody please elaborate on this? The reason I don't just use the source GUI is that I want to be able to do this with a program that I may not have the source/symbols for. If there is an easier way to immediately start working with the executable I open, please let me know. • AutoCompleteTextView with custom list: how to set up onClick Listeners and getting the selected item

  Hi everyone, I am working on an app which uses tags. Accessing those should be as simple as possible. Working with an AutoCompleteTextView seems appropriate to me. What I want: existing tags should be displayed in a selectable list with a CheckBox on each item's side existing tags should be displayed UPON FOCUS of AutoCompleteTextView (i.e. not after typing a letter) What I've done so far is storing tags in a dedicated sqlite3 table. Tags are queried resulting in a Cursor. Behaviour of the list should be the following: tapping a CheckBox item should insert/append the corresponding tag into the AutoCompleteTextView (tags will be semicolon-seperated) tapping a TextView item should insert/apped the corresponding tag into the AutoCompleteTextView AND close the list. • Add a row to UITableView for adding new item?

  In order to provide UI for user to add new items to my table view, I would like to add a new row in my table at a specified location (last row for example) when the view is in edit mode (I have a edit button on the view's navigation bar right side). This new row will have a add button indicator on the left side and disclosure accessory arrow on the right. When the view is not in edit mode, this add row should not be displayed. I am not sure if I should overwrite: - (void)setEditing:(BOOL)editing animated:(BOOL)animated{...} where I call the UITableView's method: insertRowsAtIndexPaths:(NSArray *)indexPaths withRowAnimation: (UITableViewRowAnimation)animation to insert a new row? My understanding is that this call may add a new row into the table view. The table view's data source is from CoreData storage. Not sure this may cause inconsistent numbers of data in the data store and table view? If it is OK and I have to manage rows in the table view, how can I add left add indicator and left disclosure arrow to the new row? Another question is that if I can do it to insert a new row as Add row, should I remove it when the table view not in edit mode? Just want to know if I am on the right track.

• Convert NSMutableArray to string and back

  Hello, in my current project I'm facing the following problem: The app needs to exchange data with my server, which are stored inside a NSMutableArray on the iPhone. The array holds NSString, NSData and CGPoint values. Now, I thought the easiest way to achieve this, was to convert the array into a properly formatted string, send it to my server and store it inside some mySQL database. At this point I'd like to request my data from my server, receive the string, which represents contents of my array and then actually convert it back into a NSMutablArray. So far, I tried something like this: NSString *myArrayString = [myArray description]; Now I send this string to my server and store it inside my mySQL database. That part works really well. However, when I receive the string from my server, I have trouble converting it back into a NSMutableArray. Is there a method, which can easily convert array description back into an array? Unfortunately I couldn't find anything on that so far. Maybe my way of "serializing" the array is wrong right from the start and there is a smarter way to do this. Any help appreciated. • Common Table Expressions slow when using a table variable

  I have been experimenting with the following (simplified) CTE. When using a table variable () the query runs for minutes before I cancel it. Any of the other commented out methods return in less than a second. If I replace the whole WHERE clause with an INNER JOIN it is fast as well. Any ideas why using a table variable would run so slowly? FWIW: The database contains 2.5 million records and the inner query returns 2 records. • Embedding SWF in Powerpoint VSTO

  hi guys, I was wondering if there is someway to embed a Flash Shockwave Object or .SWF file in MS Powerpoint (Presentation) 2007 and higher version. ie inside ".pptx" formats . by embed i mean when i save the presentation,close it . i wont be needing the the .swf file again.that way i can share the Presentations with others. If i use this link Insert-Flash-Into-PowerPoint-2007,it works but when i save and close the presentation,the swf file doesnt get embeded. (Note:if i do the same with a .ppt file,it works correctly.) I know we can embed the swf inside powerpoint presentation version 2003 ie.".ppt" format. but couldn't do the same in .pptx format. Also is it possible to embed .swf file in .pptx using OpenXML format? I tried to rename the ".pptx" file to ".zip" and added the ".swf" in media folder. and then renamed it back to ".pptx",but when opened in Powerpoint,it gave error about unreadable content or corruption. I had read somewhere that its kind of strategy from MS not to provide this kind of support for Adobe Swf file / ActiveX object. and as of now the feature is not supported. Flashppt PPTX Embed not supported I tried the same with office 2010 and still the same result.it doesnt work. Anyone has any workarounds etc? • DOM: element created with cloneNode(true) missing element when added to DOM

  I'm creating a tree control and I'm attempting to use a parent element as a template for its children. To this end I'm using the element.cloneNode(true) method to deep clone the parent element. However when I insert the cloned element into the DOM it is missing certain inner elements despite having an outerHTML value identical to its parent. Surprisingly I observe the same behavior is in IE, Firefox, and Chrome leading me to believe that it is by design. • Sphinx PHP Geodist problems

  Below is my PHP function to call nearby points using Sphinx for MySQL. There are hundreds of thousands of nearby points which to what I can tell, are being indexed by Sphinx, but simply fails silently when searching with Sphinx.   I've got a problem with the Entity Framework and the ForeignKeys. I've got a table "BC_Message_Assets" which has 3 FK's (MessageId, AssetId and StatusId). I create my "MessageAsset" like this MessageAsset messageAsset = new MessageAsset(); messageAsset.MessageStatusReference.EntityKey = new EntityKey("MyEntities.MessageStatusSet", "Id", 1); messageAsset.AssetReference.EntityKey = new EntityKey("MyEntities.AssetSet", "Id", 1); messageAsset.MessageReference.EntityKey = new EntityKey("MyEntities.MessageSet", "Id", messageId); context.AddToMessageAssetSet(messageAsset); context.SaveChanges(); But I got the following exception : The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint \"FK_BC_Message_Assets_BC_Assets\". The conflict occurred in database \"Test\", table \"dbo.BC_Assets\", column 'Id'.\r\nThe statement has been terminated. When I look at the query, I notice that the parameter value for AssetId is "0" despite that I provided "1" to the EntityKey. • Storing info in a PostgreSQl database issue

  Ok I am making a registry for my website. • django-mptt fields showing up twice, breaking SQL

  I'm using django-mptt to manage a simple CMS, with a model called Page, which looks like this (most presumably irrelevant fields removed): class Page(mptt.Model, BaseModel): title = models.CharField(max_length = 20) slug = AutoSlugField(populate_from = 'title') contents = models.TextField() parent = models.ForeignKey('self', null=True, blank=True, related_name='children', help_text = u'The page this page lives under.') removed fields are called attachments, headline_image, nav_override, and published All works fine using SQLite, but when I use MySQL and try and add a Page using the admin (or using ModelForms and the save() method), I get this: ProgrammingError at /admin/mycms/page/add/ (1110, "Column 'level' specified twice") where the SQL generated is: 'INSERT INTO `kaleo_page` (`title`, `slug`, `contents`, `nav_override`, `parent_id`, `published`, `headline_image_id`, `lft`, `rght`, `tree_id`, `level`, `lft`, `rght`, `tree_id`, `level`) VALUES (%s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s, %s)' for some reason I'm getting the django-mptt fields (lft, rght, tree_id and level) twice. It works in SQLite presumably because SQLite is more forgiving about what it accepts than MySQL. get_all_field_names() also shows them twice: >>> Page._meta.get_all_field_names() ['attachments', 'children', 'contents', 'headline_image', 'id', 'level', 'lft', 'nav_override', 'parent', 'published', 'rght', 'slug', 'title', 'tree_id'] Which is presumably why the SQL is bad. What could I have done that would result in those fields appearing twice in get_all_field_names()?

• JavaScript variable to ColdFusion variable

  I have a tricky one. By means of a <cfoutput query="…"> I list some records in the page from a SQL Server database. By the end of each line viewing I try to add this in to a record in a MySQL database. As you see is simple, because I can use the exact variables from the output query in to my new INSERT INTO statement. BUT: the rsPick.name comes from a database with a different character set and the only way to get it right into my new database is to read it from the web page and not from the value came in the output query. • ASP MVC C#: LINQ Foreign Key Constraint conflicts

  I'm having a problem with LINQ. I have 2 tables (Parent-child relation) Table1: Events (EventID, Description) Table2: Groups (GroupID, EventID(FK), Description) Now i want to create an Event an and a child. Event e = new Event(); e.Description = "test"; Datacontext.Events.InsertOnSubmit(event) Group g = new Group(); g.Description = "test2"; g.EventID = e.EventID; Datacontext.Groups.InsertOnSubmit(g); Datacontext.SubmitChanges(); When i debug, i can see that after inserting the event. the EventID has gotten a new value (auto increment). But when Datacontext.SubmitChanges(); gets called. I get the following exception "The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint ... I know this can be solved by creating a relation in the LINQ diagram between Events and groups. And then setting the entity itself. But i don't want to load the events everytime i ask a list of groups. All i need is some way that when inserting the group fails, the event insert won't be comitted in the database. Sorry if this is a bit unclear, My english isn't really good. Thanks in advance!

• Microsoft Sync Framework with Mutliple Client and Server Database

  I'm working on changes to an application to have a local data store instead of connecting directly to the database server. The client app will then sync changes both ways between the server database and its local data store. I'm trying to implement the syncing solution using Microsoft Sync Framework. To be clear there is no server application, only the database server, but there are multiple clients. I have started implementing two classes that implement FullEnumerationSimpleSyncProvider, one called LocalSyncProvider and one called ServerSyncProvider. The LocalSyncProvider knows how to enumerate, insert, update, delete items from the local data store, and the ServerSyncProvider knows how to enumerate, insert, update, delete items from the database server. They each use the provided SqlMetadataStore and store the two metadata stores (one for the local and one for the server) on the local drive of the client. This means that each client will have its own metadata store for its local data store and its own metadata store for the server database. Is this actually going to work, does there need to exists only one server metadata store, or do I need to be using the Sync Framework differently?

• C++/CLI managed thread cleanup

  Hi. I'm writing a managed C++/CLI library wrapper for the MySQL embedded server. The mysql C library requires me to call mysql_thread_init() for every thread that will be using it, and mysql_thread_end() for each thread that exits after using it. Debugging any given VB.Net project I can see at least seven threads; I suppose my library will see only one thread if VB doesn't explicitly create worker threads itself (any confirmations on that?). However, I need clients to my library to be able to create worker threads if they need to, so my library must be thread-aware to some degree. The first option I could think of is to expose some "EnterThread()" and "LeaveThread()" methods in my class, so the client code will explicitly call them at the beginning and before exiting their DoWork() method. This should work if (1) .Net doesn't "magically" create threads the user isn't aware of and (2) the user is careful enough to have the methods called in a try/finally structure of some sort. However, I don't like it very much to have the user handle things manually like that, and I wonder if I could give her a hand on that matter. In a pure Win32 C/C++ DLL I do have the DllMain DLL_THREAD_ATTACH and DLL_THREAD_DETACH pseudo-events, and I could use them for calling mysql_thread_init() and mysql_thread_end() as needed, but there seem to be no such thing in C++/CLI managed code. At the expense of some performance (not much, I think) I can use TLS for detecting the "usage from a new thread" case, but I can imagine no mechanism for the thread exiting case. So, my questions are: (1) could .net create application threads without the user being aware of them? and (2) is there any mechanism I could use similar to DLL_THREAD_ATTACH / DLL_THREAD_DETACH from managed C++/CLI? • EJB3 - @Column(insertable="false") question

  Hi All, I'm building a J2SE application with EJB3 and an Oracle Express Edition DB. My problem is like that - I set an EntityBean in my project which matches a table in the DB. The table contains a column which is not nullable and has a default value. All I want is that when persisting a new data to this table using the EJB, the column's value will get its default value. This is how I set it in the project: //holds user's first name @Basic(optional = true) @Column(name = "FIRST_NAME", insertable = false, updatable = true, nullable = false) private String m_firstName; I also set it in the ORM.XML file: <basic name="firstName"> <column name="FIRST_NAME" insertable="false" updatable="true" nullable="false"/> </basic> But for some reason, when creating a new EntityBean and not setting the first name field, and then trying to persist it, i get the following exception: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("TSDB"."USERS"."FIRST_NAME") Which means that the persistence manager tries to insert the first name field although I told it not to. Am I doing something wrong here ? Thanks!
