  • loading data into rails applicaton

    Hi, I have a list of rows in an excel sheet which I need to load as historical transactions into a table in my rails applications. I saved the excel file as a csv file. I tried using csv from the standard library but keep getting the following exception CSV::IllegalFormatError. Not sure how to even figure out where the problem lies.     I've installed just about every library/gem that I could find for memcached/memcache, but everytime I attempt to run my application I get this error: Error message: uninitialized constant Rails::Initializer::MemCache Exception class: NameError I have tried $ telnet localhost 11211 and memcached is definitely running. Any ideas? (I'm running Apache2/Passenger)

    For the life of me I cannot deserialize the protobuf file from Open Street Maps. I am trying to deserialize the following extract: http://download.geofabrik.de/osm/north-america/us-northeast.osm.pbf to get Nodes and I am using http://code.google.com/p/protobuf-net/ as the library. I have tried to deserialize a bunch of different objects but they all come up null. The proto files can be found here: http://trac.openstreetmap.org/browser/applications/utils/export/osm2pgsql/protobuf Any suggestions?

  • Can I make ruby send network traffic over a specific iface?

    I am writing a script that grabs the external IP address along with some other information about each iface. I can't figure out how to make ruby send traffic over a specific iface(eth0 and wlan0 for example). I am currently using the open-uri library to open http://whatismyip.org and read it into a variable. def get_external_ip begin open("http://whatismyip.org") { |f| return f.read } rescue return "none" end end Is there any way to specify this at runtime of the script or from within the script itself(ideally)?

I am using C++ under windows and I would like to generate a mpeg-4 VBR video from that stream but I dont know where I should start... I was thinking of using a concurrentskiplistset or concurrentskiplist map. Also I was thinking of deleting the items from inside a newSingleThreadScheduledExecutor.   • checksum in raw sockets and pcap [closed]

    i am using pcap library to sniff some packets, change their tcp data , and then inject my packet on the network. my question is: if i changed in the tcp data, should i recalculate the length field in the tcp header? should i also change the checksum? i read in a page on how to create raw sockets that if you set the tcp_checksum to 0, the kernel will automatically calculate it and fill it, is this true for windows machines also?

    I'm looking to find a way to in real-time find the shortest path between nodes in a huge graph. It has hundreds of thousands of vertices and millions of edges. I know this question has been asked before and I guess the answer is to use a breadth-first search, but I'm more interested in to know what software you can use to implement it. For example, it would be totally perfect if it already exist a library (with python bindings!) for performing bfs in undirected graphs.
