• How do I use Perl's WWW::Facebook::API to publish to a user's newsfeed?

  We use Facebook Connect on our site in conjunction with the WWW::Facebook::API CPAN module to publish to our users newsfeed when requested by the user. So far we've been able to successfully update the user's status using the following code: use WWW::Facebook::API; my $facebook = WWW::Facebook::API->new( desktop => 0, api_key => $fb_api_key, secret => $fb_secret, session_key => $query->cookie($fb_api_key.'_session_key'), session_expires => $query->cookie($fb_api_key.'_expires'), session_uid => $query->cookie($fb_api_key.'_user') ); my $response = $facebook->stream->publish( message => qq|Test status message|, ); However, when we try to update the code above so we can publish newsfeed stories that include attachments and action links as specified in the Facebook API documentation for Stream.Publish, we have tried about 100 different ways without any success. I'm hoping some other perl developer out there has this working and can explain how to create the attachment and action_links variables appropriately in Perl for posting to the Facebook news feed through WWW::Facebook::API. • Single Form with Multiple Dynamic Buttons

  I've spent hours/days trying to figure this out and now I'm completely perplexed so I thought I'd give stackoverflow a try. I'm (a newb) working in Java/JSP using Eclipse hosting on Google App Engine trying to develop an app for a volunteer organization I'm a member of. Rather than embarrass myself by showing my current code I'd love just a nudge in the right direction. I have a form (which doubles as a report basically) showing "people" grouped under the "task" they are currently working on. I would like to select multiple people from multiple tasks and reassign them to another task e.g. Bill and Jane are Gardening, Jeff is Painting. I want to select Jane and Jeff (all people have an associated checkbox in the form) and re-assign them to Sweeping (which is a task on the form but has no people assigned to it yet). Ideally, the re-assignment to Sweeping would be via a Sweeping button (each task would have a dynamically-created task button) that would pass the "Sweeping" value to a servlet along with an array or list of people whose checkbox has been checked. The servlet would handle the request (creating an Assignment "object/entity" with timeStamp, personId, taskId) and then re-direct back to the form/report which would then repaint with the current tasks/people generated from the Assignments class in the datastore. All the tasks are user-defined and retrieved from the database when building the form. Ditto the people. I've been trying to keep the jsp for presentation and the servlets for the processing but I'm no purist and would just like to get unstuck. Many thanks in advance for your assistance.

• Best approach, Dynamic OpenXML in T-SQL

  hello, i'm storing XML values to an entry in my database. Originally, i extract the xml datatype to my business logic then fill the XML data into a DataSet. I want to improve this process by loading the XML right into the T-SQL. Instead of getting the xml as string then converting it on the BL. My issue is this: each xml entry is dynamic, meaning it can be any column created by the user. • Get remote image using cURL then resample.

  I want to be able to retrieve a remote image from a webserver, resample it, and then serve it up to the browser AND save it to a file. But how do I then, efficiently, serve this up to the browser. I currently, later in the code, do this readfile("$filename"); along with some header information but that means I'm reading the file back in again which seems inefficient.

• GET params in ruby-on-rails project - best practices?

  I've inherited a little rails app and I need to extend it slightly. It's actually quite simple, but I want to make sure I'm doing it the right way... If I visit myapp:3000/api/persons it gives me a full list of people in XML format. I want to pass param in the URL so that I can return users that match the login or the email e.g. yapp:3000/api/persons?login=jsmith would give me the person with the corresponding login. Here's the code: def index if params.size > 2 # We have 'action' & 'controller' by default if params['login'] @person = [Person.find(:first, :conditions => { :login => params['login'] })] elsif params['email'] @persons = [Person.find(:first, :conditions => { :email => params['email'] })] end else @persons = Person.find(:all) end end Two questions... Is it safe? Does ActiveRecord protect me from SQL injection attacks (notice I'm trusting the params that are coming in)? Is this the best way to do it, or is there some automagical rails feature I'm not familiar with?

  I have this situation: interface MessageListener { void onMessageReceipt(Message message); } class MessageReceiver { MessageListener listener; public MessageReceiver(MessageListener listener, other arguments...) { this.listener = listener; } loop() { Message message = nextMessage(); listener.onMessageReceipt(message); } } and I want to avoid the following pattern: (Using the this in the Client constructor) class Client implements MessageListener { MessageReceiver receiver; MessageSender sender; public Client(...) { receiver = new MessageReceiver(this, other arguments...); sender = new Sender(...); } . . . @Override public void onMessageReceipt(Message message) { if(Message.isGood()) sender.send("Congrtulations"); else sender.send("Boooooooo"); } } The reason why i need the above functionality is because i want to call the sender inside the onMessageReceipt() function, for example to send a reply. But I dont want to pass the sender into a listener, so the only way I can think of is containing the sender in a class that implements the listener, hence the above resulting Client implementation. Is there a way to achive this without the use of 'this' in the constructor? It feels bizare and i dont like it, since i am passing myself to an object(MessageReceiver) before I am fully constructed. On the other hand, the MessageReceiver is not passed from outside, it is constructed inside, but does this 'purifies' the bizarre pattern? I am seeking for an alternative or an assurance of some kind that this is safe, or situations on which it might backfire on me.

• Sort on DataView does not work if DataTable has zero rows

  We have a WPF app that has a DataGrid insode a ListView. private DataTable table_; We do a bunch or dynamic column generation ( depending on the report we are showing ) We then do the a query and fill the DataTable row by row, this query may or may not have data.( not the problem, an empty grid is expected ) We set the ListView's ItemsSource to the DefaultView of the DataTable. lv.ItemsSource = table_.DefaultView; We then (looking at the user's pass usage of the app, set the sort on the column) Sort Method below: private void Sort(string sortBy, ListSortDirection direction) { var dataView = CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(lv.ItemsSource); dataView.SortDescriptions.Clear(); var sd = new SortDescription(sortBy, direction); dataView.SortDescriptions.Add(sd); dataView.Refresh(); } In the Zero DataTable rows scenario, the sort does not "hold"? and if we dynamically add rows they will not be in sorted order. If the DataTable has at-least 1 row when the sort is applied, and we dynamically add rows to the DataTable, the rows com in sorted correctly. I have built a standalone app that replicate this... It is an annoyance and I can add a check to see if the DataTable was empty, and re-sort... Anyone know whats going on here, and am I doing something wrong?   I am writing D2 bindings for Lua. • Render action return View(); form problem

  I'm new to MVC, so please bear with me. :-) I've got a strongly typed "Story" View. This View (story) can have Comments. I've created two Views (not partials) for my Comments controller "ListStoryComments" and "CreateStoryComment", which do what their names imply. These Views are included in the Story View using RenderAction, e.g.: <!-- List comments --> <h2>All Comments</h2> <% Html.RenderAction("ListStoryComments", "Comments", new { id = Model.Story.Id }); %> <!-- Create new comment --> <% Html.RenderAction("CreateStoryComment", "Comments", new { id = Model.Story.Id }); %> (I pass in the Story id in order to list related comments). All works as I hoped, except, when I post a new comment using the form, it returns the current (parent) View, but the Comments form field is still showing the last content I typed in and the ListStoryComments View isn’t updated to show the new story. Basically, the page is being loaded from cache, as if I had pressed the browser’s back button. If I press f5 it will try to repost the form. If I reload the page manually (reenter the URL in the browser's address bar), and then press f5, I will see my new content and the empty form field, which is my desired result. • Obj-C: ++variable is increasing by two instead of one

  I am writing a program that asks users yes/no questions to help them decide how to vote in an election. I have a variable representing the question number called questionnumber. Each time I go through the switch-break loop, I add 1 to the questionnumber variable so that the next question will be displayed. This works fine for the first two questions. But then it skips the third question and moves on to the fourth. When I have more questions in the list, it skips every other question. Somewhere, for some reasons, the questionnumber variable is increasing when I don't want it to. Please look at the code below and tell me what I'm doing wrong. Thank you! • emacs: x-popup-menu max size constraints?

  I'm working on an intellisense or code-completion capability for C#. So far, so good. Right now I have basic completion working. There are 2 ways to request completion. The first cycles through all the potential matches. The second presents a popup menu of the matches. It works for types: And also for local variables: I'm confronting two problems with x-popup-menu: the popup menu can expand to consume all available screen space, when the number of choices is large. Literally it can obscure the entire screen. The silly thing is, it's scrollable. First it expands to consume all available space, then it also becomes scrollable. Is there a way I can limit the maximum size of x-popup-menu? To specify the position of the popup menu, I pass in a position, and x-popup-menu uses that as the *middle*, not the left, of the top line of the menu. Why middle? who knows. What this means is, if I specify (40 . 60) for the location of the menu, and the menu happens to be 100 pixels wide, the menu will extend beyond the left border of the emacs window. You can see this in the 2nd image above. If I knew how wide the popup would be before specifying the position, I could compensate. But I don't. Is there a workaround? Is there a way to get x-popup-menu to take its position as the LEFT rather than the middle.

• ASP.NET MVC 2 DisplayFor()

  I'm looking at the new version of ASP.NET MVC (see here for more details if you haven't seen it already) and I'm having some pretty basic trouble displaying the content of an object. In my control I have an object of type "Person", which I am passing to the view in ViewData.Model. All is well so far, and I can extact the object in the view ready for display. What I don't get, though, is how I need to call the Html.DisplayFor() method in order to get the data to screen. I've tried the following... <% MVC2test.Models.Person p = ViewData.Model as MVC2test.Models.Person; %> // snip <%= Html.DisplayFor(p => p) %> but I get the following message: CS0136: A local variable named 'p' cannot be declared in this scope because it would give a different meaning to 'p', which is already used in a 'parent or current' scope to denote something else I know this is not what I should be doing - I know that redefining a variable will producte this error, but I don't know how to access the object from the controller. So my question is, how do I pass the object to the view in order to display its properties? (I should add that I am reading up on this in my limited spare time, so it is entirely possible I have missed something fundamental) TIA

• AdornedElement Properties in a Trigger

  I have an Adorner in XAML that I'm using for ErrorValidation. Basically I have a grid that I want to display on two conditions (if the "AdornedElement" IsFocused or IsMouseOver). Below is a code snippet where I'm binding - successfully - to the IsFocused of the AdornedElement, but as you can tell that only solves 1/2 the conditions. Now I can't pass another binding into the converter, nor can I create a property that handles both (needs to be XAML only solution). <AdornedElementPlaceholder x:Name="errorAdorner" /> ... <Grid x:Name="ErrorDetails" Visibility="{Binding ElementName=errorAdorner, Path=AdornedElement.IsFocused, Converter={StaticResource BooleanToVisibilityConverter}}" /> ... What I want to do is use triggers to handle this, the only problem is I can't access the AdornedElement's properties on a trigger. Something like this ... <Trigger SourceName="errorAdorner" Property="AdornedElement.IsFocused" Value="True"> <Setter TargetName="ErrorDetails" Property="Visibility" Value="Visible" /> </Trigger> This would also help as part of what I want to do is trigger animations, rather than just setting the visibility. Any help would be great.

• How do I Emit Escaped XML representation of a Node in my XSLT's HTML Output

  I'm transforming XML to an HTML document. In this document I want to embed XML markup for a node that was just transformed (the HTML document is a technical spec). For example, if my XML was this: <transform-me> <node id="1"> <stuff type="floatsam"> <details>Various bits</details> </stuff> </node> </transform-me> I'd want my XSLT output to look something like this: <h1>Node 1</h1> <h2>Stuff (floatsam)</h2> Various bits <h2>The XML</h2> &lt;stuff type=&quot;floatsam&quot;&gt; &lt;details&gt;Various bits&lt;/details&gt; &lt;/stuff&gt; I'm hoping there is an XSLT function that I can call in my <stuff> template to which I can pass the current node (.) and get back escaped XML markup for <stuff> and all its descendants. I have a feeling unparsed-text() might be the way to go but can't get it to work.

• QueryString malformed after URLDecode

  I'm trying to pass in a Base64 string into a C#.Net web application via the QueryString. When the string arrives the "+" (plus) sign is being replaced by a space. It appears that the automatic URLDecode process is doing this. I have no control over what is being passed via the QueryString. Is there any way to handle this server side? Example: http://localhost:3399/Base64.aspx?VLTrap=VkxUcmFwIHNldCB0byAiRkRTQT8+PE0iIHBsdXMgb3IgbWludXMgNSBwZXJjZW50Lg== Produces: VkxUcmFwIHNldCB0byAiRkRTQT8 PE0iIHBsdXMgb3IgbWludXMgNSBwZXJjZW50Lg== People have suggested URLEncoding the querystring: System.Web.HttpUtility.UrlEncode(yourString) I can't do that as I have no control over the calling routine (which is working fine with other languages). There was also the suggestion of replacing spaces with a plus sign: Request.QueryString["VLTrap"].Replace(" ", "+"); I had though of this but my concern with it, and I should have mentioned this to start, is that I don't know what other characters might be malformed in addition to the plus sign. My main goal is to intercept the QueryString before it is run through the decoder. To this end I tried looking at Request.QueryString.toString() but this contained the same malformed information. Is there any way to look at the raw QueryString before it is URLDecoded? After further testing it appears that .Net expects everything coming in from the QuerString to be URL encoded but the browser does not automatically URL encode GET requests.

  I have a model Sensor with has_many and accepts_nested_attributes_for relationships to another model Watch. In a form to update a Sensor, I have something like the following <%= sensor_form.fields_for :watches do |watches_form| %> <%= watches_form.label :label %><br /> <%= watches_form.text_field :label %> <% end %> This is indended to allow editting of the already-created Watches belonging to a Sensor. This call spits form inputs as so: <input name="sensor[watches_attributes][0][label]" ... /> <input name="sensor[watches_attributes][0][id]" ... /> When this gets submitted, the params object in the Sensor controller gets an assoc like "sensor" => { "id"=>"1", "watches_attributes"=> { "0"=>{"id" => "1", "label" => "foo"}, "1"=>{"id" => "2", "label" => "bar"} } } For a has_many, accepts_nested_attributes_for update to work upon the @sensor.update_attributes call, it seems that that attributes key really must map to an Array. From what I've seen in the examples, the combination of has_many, accepts_nested_attributes_for, and sensor_form.fields_for should allow me to pass the resulting params object directly to @sensor.update_attributes and update each related object as intended. Instead the Sensor takes place, with no errors, but the Watch objects are not updated (since "watches_attributes" maps to a Hash instead of an Array?) Have I missed something?

  Hi. I'm having trouble deserializing a ruby class that I wrote to YAML. Where I want to be I want to be able to pass one object around as a full 'question' which includes the question text, some possible answers (For multi. choice) and the correct answer. One module (The encoder) takes input, builds a 'question' class out of it and appends it to the question pool. Another module reads a question pool and builds an array of 'question' objects. Where I am currently Sample Question Pool --- | --- !ruby/object:MultiQ a: "no" answer: "no" b: "no" c: "no" d: "no" text: "yes?" Encoder dump to YAML file. Object is a MultiQ filled up with input. • Use external datasource with NUnit's TestCaseAttribute

  Is it possible to get the values for a TestCaseAttribute from an external data source such as an Excel Spreadsheet, CSV file or Database? i.e. Have a .csv file with 1 row of data per test case and pass that data to NUnit one at a time. Here's the specific situation that I'd like to use this for. I'm currently merging some features from one system into another. This is pretty much just a copy and paste process from the old system into the new one. Unfortunately, the code being moved not only does not have any tests, but is not written in a testable manner (i.e. tightly coupled with the database and other code.) Taking the time to make the code testable isn't really possible since its a big mess, i'm on a tight schedule and the entire feature is scheduled to be re-written from the ground up in the next 6-9 months. However, since I don't like the idea of not having any tests around the code, I'm going to create some simple Selenium tests using WebDriver to test the page through the UI. While this is not ideal, it's better than nothing. The page in question has about 10 input values and about 20 values that I need to assert against after the calculations are completed, with about 30 valid combinations of values that I'd like to test. I already have the data in a spreadsheet so it'd be nice to simply be able to pull that out rather than having to re-type it all in Visual Studio.

• python __import__() imports from 2 different directories when same module exists in 2 locations

  Hi, I have a python application , which has directory structure like this. -pythonapp -mainpython.py -module1 -submodule1 -file1.py -file2.py -submodule2 -file3.py -file3.py -submodule3 -file1.py -file2.py -file5.py -file6.py -file7.py when I try to import the python utilities(from mainpython.py) under submodule3 , I get the initial 2 files from submodule1.(please note that submodule1 and 3 have 2 different files with the same name). However the same import works fine when there is no conflict i.e it correctly imports file 5,6,7 from submodule3. Here is the code : name=os.path.splitext(os.path.split("module1\submodule3\file1.py")[1])[0] -- file1.py name here is passed dynamically. module = import(name) //Here is name is like "file1" it works(but with the above said issue, though, when passes the name of the file dynamically), but if I pass complete package as "module1.submodule1.file1" it fails with an ImportError saying that "no module with name file1" Now the question is how do we tell the interpreter to use only the ones under "module1.submodule3.file2"? I am using python This is really urgent one and I have run out of all the tries. Hope some experienced python developers can solve this for me?

• passing java mail message object from between applications

  I'm using java mail api 1.4.1 to obtain new emails. Two classes are being used to obtain emails and then parsing it. "GetMail" class communicates with mail server(Gmail,yahoo etc) and obtains the message object. Then the message object is passed to yet another class "MailFormatter" class, which then parses the message object, obtains the email headers (From,To,Subject etc) and then it parses the Multipart content to obtain the main body and attachments.Since both "Mail getting" and "Mail formatting" process are very resource intensive, these classes are going to be implemented as separate web applications.This application is going to monitor new emails for numerous email ids.If these ("GetMail" and "MailFormatter") are implemented as separate web applications, how can I pass the message object from "GetMail" app to "MailFormatter" app ? Is there a way through which I can persist the obtained message object in a certain location (a location which is common to both "GetMail" and "MailFormatter" applications), so that "GetMail" can persist the message object in that location, and then "MailFormatter" app can read "Message" objects from that location and carry out the parsing process. Message objects cannot be serialized. If they cannot be serialized how can I persist the state of java mail message object? please do help me to resolve this issue.

• Autologin for web application

  We want to AutoLogin feature to allow user directly login using link into our Web Application. What is the best way achieve this? We have following approches in our mind. 1) Store user credentials(username/password) in cookie. Send cookie for authentication. e.g. http: //www.mysite.com/AutoLogin (here username/password will be passed in cookie) OR Pass user credentials in link URL. http: //www.mysite.com/AutoLogin?userid=<&password=< 2) Generate randon token and store user random token and user IP on server side database. When user login using link, validate token and user IP on server. e.g. http: //www.mysite.com/AutoLogin?token=< The problem with 1st approach is if hacker copies link/cookie from user machine to another machine he can login. The problem with 2nd approach is the user ip will be same for all users of same organization behind proxy. Which one is better from above from security perspective? If there is better solution which is other than mentioned above, please let us know.
