• Screen gets garbled on some web sites

  I have a Gateway notebook with graphics card 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS690M [Radeon X1200 Series] with open source driver Linux version 2.6.32 -28 - generic. No other operating system on the computer. When I am using firefox to browse the web, everything normally works just fine except that when I attempt to access some particular web pages the screen completely messes up going mostly white with various streaks, etc., although I can access other pages of the same site without problems. When I run the cursor over the garbled screen, bits of the image recompose themselves, at least partially, and I can continue to open the applications window, or turn the computer off, or open the terminal, or take screen shots, etc., although all menus are unreadable. Also, when I zoom in on Google Earth the screen completely messes up. At all other times, there are no apparent problems. Any ideas?

  Hi guys i am stuck with filling up the data of all the blocks which are empty like the ones in the image. As you can see there i have a pacman like object where i will be moving around. But when you are in the empty space where there are no Blue boxes available i should be able to add new blocks in the path of my pacman and when it touches any other blue boxes like in the below case if my pacman touches the top row of the blue box i should be able to fill all the empty boxed inside the border of the path created by pacman. For now i am using a 2d bool array to store all the filled boxed info like if there is a box inside i am making that cell in an array as true. But how to fill the area with blue boxes after player finishes his path ? Any help would be great thank you. Specifically when it comes to image sizes, what's the total file size for a webpage which includes several images. I tend to compress images down as much as possible before it starts to visually lose quality. We run several CMS website's and the clients tend to ask this question a lot! I'd love to hear another view on it.

• What is the difference from the push and pull development models?

  I was reading Extreme Programming Explained, Second Edition and in the chapter 11 "The Theory of Constraints" the authors talk about the old and obsolete "push" development model and the XP way, the "pull" development model. It looks like a quite important concept, but it takes only a very small paragraph and two images that are mere illustrations of the "waterfall" and iterative process, nothing specific about these models except by the image caption. I searched and it doesn't go any further about it in the rest of the book. I couldn't find any further explanations or discussions about it in the Internet either. If the only difference about those is that one is "waterfall" and the other is iterative, them why push and why pull? Does anyone understand what is really the difference between those two and give some good examples?

  I'm interested in reasons for disallowing content editors on medium to large sites, from using various forms of WYSIWYG editors. A common problematic scenario I can think of is that with the use of a WYSIWYG, an editor uploads an image "somewhere" to the file-system, inserts it directly into the text, and publishes the article. Shortly afterwards, someone wants to pull out "The last 10 uploaded images", and display them on the frontpage. Good luck parsing all the content. Taking a look around at some large international online magazines, such as http://www.time.com/, and some local ones, I see that the editors seem to produce articles that are almost only consisting of raw text. Images are usually at the top of the article, and otherwise the most complex content are usually links. What are some common reasons for refusing editors access to WYSIWYG tools?

  Right now my video card isn't responding after the Ubuntu Logo is shown, (I see a black screen and that's it) I have installed ubuntu 12.04 AMD64 and if I remove the video card and use the VGA from the MOBO then I can use it with no problems, other data: 4 GB of ram 1333 500 GB WD AMD APU A6 3500 2,1 GHZ I forgot a couple of details, everything was working great until last night, when the light went off (I don't know if I'm explaining myself I'm from Argentina and english isn't my first language there was a power cut I meant) and then when it got back I used my pc until I went to bed (after upgrading) and this morning, when I woke up I had this problem for breakfast, I've been reading a little and I had a similar problem before and fixed it, but it was a system problem, a missing package or something, I don't remember, but here the only issue is that the video card doesn't give me image after the ubuntu logo.

  I have two images of the same dimensions. One is represents the game board in a user-appealing way, the other represents it in a computer-friendly way where each game area is painted in a unique, uniform color. When the user clicks the board, we get the click coordinates, find the color of the pixel at the same coordinates in our second image, and that color is directly translatable to a game area, since each area is painted in its own color. Is that a good implementation? Can you suggest better, if it isn't? Best regards.

  I would like to have an SDL_Surface representing the contents of the window, just like in the old days with SDL1.2. What is the best and fastest way to do it in SDL2? What I found is that I need an SDL_Window, an SDL_Renderer for that window, an SDL_Texture to render, and an SDL_Surface to create a texture from. This seems a bit too much to me, since I just want to display a single image on the screen. Not to mention the impact on the performance. On my machine (Lenovo Y510p laptop) this whole procedure takes 9ms, without any memory allocation, only using pre-allocated variables and totally black SDL_Surface. Is there a way I could speed up things?

• Dual booting Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10 on UEFI laptop

  I have a notebook pre-installed with Windows7 and I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on it following the standard installation steps in the installation image. The only problem is that on reboot the machine continues to boot Windows ignoring the presence of Ubuntu (Grub never comes up). My partition scheme is this sda1: NTFS 612MB sda2: NTFS 50GB (after resizing during Ubuntu installation. This is the main windows partition) sda4: extended sda5: ext4 /boot sda6: btrfs / I have tried Boot-repair and it didn't help. Tried rEFInd boot manager but it doesn't support NTFS partitions. I don't know what else to try. My next attempt is to try to install GRUB by hand to the MBR. Any other Ideas?

• How would I go about updating my electronic circuit simulator's 'electricity'?

  I have made an application which allows the user to place down wires, power sources, and inverters on a virtual circuit board. All connections between tiles are automatic, as shown here: As you can see in the last image, the updating of power throughout this grid is not yet functioning. I think I understand how to do this updating conceptually, but getting it to work in my program is appearing to be much more difficult than I first imagined. My source code can be found here. If you have any tips as to how to I might approach this monstrous task, please let me know. EDIT The goal here is to simply get a working application. Getting tiles to pass on power to their neighbors is quite easy, but the tricky part is getting wires to "unpower" after the removal of a power source. The size of the grid is just 18x18, so efficiency really isn't a factor, for those wondering.

  Hi I am getting ready to create my first web aplication.I have some knowledge of databases but I have never used databases with relationship created beetween them and also I am not sure how to acces the data in the relationship.My experience is limited to basic CRUD applications and working on simple tables with no realtionship using PHP and MySql. For example I will be creating a login system and for each user I would like to create a profile page that store different data(name , address , profile image etc.).Some of the info will be the same in both tables so there is no point in creating the same table twice. What I would like is if anyone can tell of some tutorials so I can better understand the concept?

  I have put my elasticsearch server behind a Apache reverse proxy that provides basic authentication. Authenticating to Apache directly from the browser works fine. However, when I use Kibana 3 to access the server, I receive authentication errors. Obviously because no auth headers are sent along with Kibana's Ajax calls. There are quite a few posts available regarding that topic but it appears that in order to solve my problem, it would be necessary to to make some very granular configurations on apache and also make sure that the right stuff is sent from the browser. So I reconsidered the strategy and found a much simpler solution. Just modify the vhost reverse proxy config to move the elastisearch server AND kibana on the same http port. This also adds even better security to Kibana. • How to simulate browser form POST method using PHP/cURL

  I'm trying to simulate browser with POST method using PHP/cURL. When I looked at that live Http header it shows Content-Type: multipart/form-data. I checked on the internet where it was suggested that cURL will send multipart/form-data when a custom headers is specified to Content-Type: multipart/form-data. $headers = array( 'Content-Type' => 'multipart/form-data; boundary='.$boundary ); This didn't work for me either when I print_r(curl_getinfo()) it showed [content_type] => text/html; charset=UTF-8 Which means cURL sent a default headers I also read that sending/uploading a file with cURL will cause data to be send as multipart/form-data.   I have two instances of Tomcat 7.0.8 running in the same machine (Tomcat7A and Tomcat7B) and IIS 7.5 acting as front-end load-balancer with isapi-redirector 1.2.31, running on Windows 2008 R2. In my app I try to get a token from the Google Play services, as described on https://developers.google.com/android/google-play-services/authentication. The Google Play services component is delivered as an APK through the Google Play Store, so updates to Google Play services are not dependent on carrier or OEM system image updates. Newer devices will also have Google Play services as part of the device's system image, but updates are still pushed to these newer devices through the Google Play Store. Isn't "Google Play services" app the same as the "Google Play" app? Another question I have, due to lack of documentation: what is the scope parameter for? The documentation just says the following, but not defining what an 'authentication scope' exactly is: scope String representing the authentication scope.
