  • Detecting the onload event of a window opened with window.open

    - by Chris T
    window.popup = window.open($(this).attr('href'), 'Ad', 'left=20,top=20,width=500,height=500,toolbar=1,resizable=0'); $(window.popup).onload = function() { alert("Popup has loaded a page"); }; This doesn't work in any browser I've tried it with (IE, Firefox, Chrome). How can I detect when a page is loaded in the window (like an iframe onload)?

  • How should I port this Prototype to JQuery?

    - by blu
    There is currently this Prototype code that does a PUT: new Ajax.Request(someUrl, { method: 'put', parameters: { 'foo': bar }, onSuccess: function(response) { } .bind(this) }); I found this post but the solution uses an extra parameter supported by RoR, however I am targeting an ASP.NET backend. I searched a bit and found that not all browsers support PUT operations so apparently this could fail in certain browsers? This is already in prod, so a direct port would be fine for now I suppose. As an aside, what is the deal with the bind(this) in the onSuccess function?

  • Maximizing Adobe Air windows on multiple monitors

    - by Andrew
    In an Adobe Air AJAX application with multiple windows running on a system with multiple (three or more) monitors, can you maximize the windows in each monitor? I've seen posts by others trying to do this, but I've not seen anyone saying how it worked out. I basically need to build a 'status monitor' system (similar to, say, an airport departures monitor) in which there are public-facing displays that need to look and feel like single-purpose, embedded applications -- no window chrome and no visible desktop. I don't think this should be any different from any other windows application, but I don't know about Air. I have a dual-monitor Mac setup right now, but I can't easily test Windows and I likely will never be able to test three monitors at once. This application will be run as an AJAX Air application written in Aptana (or DW if it makes a difference).

  • Call a KeyDown Event

    - by Doug
    All I need is to be able to click a button and have it do the KeyDown event for Enter, I've tired doing KeyDownCheck(13); and similar things, and I can get into the KeyDown event, but I can't get it to recognize that I want Enter, and it doesn't go to any specific key. Is there a specific way to put this in? Thanks in advance

  • Typing Text effect not working

    - by Anthony Garand
    I'm writing a script to take an array of strings, split them by characters, and print them out to the screen. This is what I have and for some reason it is not doing anything. Any ideas? function autowrite() { var write_text=["Your Memories","Your Thoughts","Your Photos"]; var split_text = Array(); var i; var c; for(i=0; i < write_text.length; i++) { split_text[i] = write_text[i].split(""); for(c=0; i < split_text.length[i]; i++) { alert(split_text[i][c]); } } }

  • Using jsAnim.js

    - by mark
    I've been trying to set up a basic test animation using jsanim.js and using their example site to set up my html, css and js. However, I just can't figure it out (not a developer...designer!) and there isn't just a simple html, css, js file to download showing how to say animate a DIV left to right. The examples of how the library works are clear but I'm lacking something in the set up and looking at their source on the site is nuts...too much going on in there. Thanks to anyone with experience with jsAnim.js http://www.jsanim.com Best, Mark

  • Jquery Retrieving data from webpage and entering it in database.

    - by user279321
    Hello Everyone. I am new to Jquery. I want to read specific data(some div's only) from a webpage and store it in my database. Now I am not able to do so as load functions loads the data into the current page id. My goal is to read specific data and store them in database. So which Jquery function should I use for this? if someone can throw some light on it, it would be really helpful for me. I am using JSP,MySQL,Java.

  • jQuery > Update inline script on form submission

    - by Andrew Kirk
    I am using the ChemDoodle Web Components to display molecules on a web page. Basically, I can just insert the following script in my page and it will create an HTML5 canvas element to display the molecule. <script> var transform1 = new TransformCanvas('transform1', 200, 200, true); transform1.specs.bonds_useJMOLColors = true; transform1.specs.bonds_width_2D = 3; transform1.specs.atoms_useJMOLColors = true; transform1.specs.atoms_circles_2D = true; transform1.specs.backgroundColor = 'black'; transform1.specs.bonds_clearOverlaps_2D = true; transform1.loadMolecule(readPDB(molecule)); </script> In this example, "molecule" is a variable that I have defined in an external script by using the jQuery.ajax() function to load a PDB file. This is all fine and good. Now, I would like to include a form on the page that will allow a user to paste in a PDB molecule definition. Upon submitting the form, I want to update the "molecule" variable with the form data so that the ChemDoodle Web Components script will work its magic and display molecule defined by the PDB definition pasted into the form. I am using the following jQuery code to process the the form submission. $(".button").click(function() { // validate and process form here //hide previous errors $('.error').hide(); //validate pdb textarea field var pdb = $("textarea#pdb").val(); if (pdb == "") { $("label#pdb_error").show(); $("textarea#pdb").focus(); return false; } molecule = pdb; }); This code is setting the "molecule" variable upon the form submission but it is not being passed back to the inline script as I had hoped. I have tried a number of variations on this but can't seem to get it right. Any clues as to where I might be going wrong would be much appreciated.

  • How to parse (infinite) nested object notation?

    - by kyogron
    I am currently breaking my head about transforming this object hash: "food": { "healthy": { "fruits": ['apples', 'bananas', 'oranges'], "vegetables": ['salad', 'onions'] }, "unhealthy": { "fastFood": ['burgers', 'chicken', 'pizza'] } } to something like this: food:healthy:fruits:apples food:healthy:fruits:bananas food:healthy:fruits:oranges food:healthy:vegetables:salad food:healthy:vegetables:onions food:unhealthy:fastFood:burgers food:unhealthy:fastFood:chicken food:unhealthy:fastFood:pizza In theory it actually is just looping through the object while keeping track of the path and the end result. Unfortunately I do not know how I could loop down till I have done all nested. var path; var pointer; function loop(obj) { for (var propertyName in obj) { path = propertyName; pointer = obj[propertyName]; if (pointer typeof === 'object') { loop(pointer); } else { break; } } }; function parse(object) { var collection = []; }; There are two issues which play each out: If I use recurse programming it looses the state of the properties which are already parsed. If I do not use it I cannot parse infinite. Is there some idea how to handle this? Regards

  • CSS3 image rotation and reposition to fit in div

    - by blid
    I'll start with JS Fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/zy2xy/4/ <div id="page" style="position: relative; background: #ccc; width: 500px; height: 600px;"> <div id="container" style="top: 50px; left: 100px; width: 200px; height: 200px; position: absolute; background: #fff;"> <img src="http://lorempixel.com/200/100/"> </div> </div>????????? I've got a whole page div #page, and inside that another div #container positioned absolute against #page. What I want to achieve, is to rotate image inside it 90deg, 180deg or 270deg but always move that image to top left corner of #container. I tried a little bit with transform-origin but I couldn't find any solution.

  • jQuery, Animate opacity to 1 then remove the opacity property to make it better looking on IE

    - by Emily
    Hi everyone, I tried the jQuery fadeIn animation in all browsers and it work good, but not that much on IE. the Alpha png images are so creepy after appending the CSS opacity, but i have an idea and i don't know how to implement it using jQuery. The idea is to fadeIn the element and when the animation is finished it will automatically remove the opacity property in order to make the picture quality better. How to do that? Note: i'm using Animate and not FadeIn. Thanks

  • How to implement conditional render in JS?

    - by mare
    Below is the JS (jQuery) code of autocomplete's result function. You can see there's some lines where I print out <li>s containing some data properties (that come in as a result of automcomplete's AJAX call). How could I rewrite this so that <li> would be conditionally rendered based on whether the property contains any value being either int or string (not empty string or whitespace) or something else that can be represented as string? $(".clients-dropdown").result(function (event, data, formatted) { if (data) { // set the hidden input that we need for Client entity rematerialize $(".client-id").val(data.client_id); if (data.ClientName && data.Address1 && data.postalcode && data.postname) { $(".client-address").html( "<li>" + data.ClientName + "</li>" + "<li>" + data.Address1 + "</li>" + "<li>" + data.postalcode + " " + data.postname + "</li>" ); $(".client-details").html( "<li>" + data.PrettyId + "</li>" + "<li>" + data.VatNo + "</li>" + "<li>" + data.Phone + "</li>" + "<li>" + data.Mobile + "</li>" + "<li>" + data.Email1 + "</li>" + "<li>" + data.Contact + "</li>" ); } } Also, for the AJAX call, should my server side action return null when there's a null for a property in the database or empty string?

  • How to find scrollable elements in DOM using XPath?

    - by ak.
    Basically I need to find all elements on the page that have a scrollbar (vertical or horizontal) How to tell if an element has a scrollbar and can actually be scrolled? I found this code snippet on jsperf. Is it possible to capture the logic behind the code into and XPath expression? Or are there any other ways to check for scrollbars? Added: Just to explain what I'm trying to do: I'm developing extension for Firefox. Basically it introduces Vim-style mouseless shortcuts (I know there is Vimperator and Pentadactyl...). One of the features I'd like to implement is to allow the use to select the container that's scrolled with j/k keys. That's why I need to discover all scrollable elements on any given random page.

  • Is there a default way to get hold of an internal property in jQueryUi widget?

    - by prodigitalson
    Im using an existing widget from the jquery-ui labs call selectmenu. It has callback options for the events close and open. The problem is i need in these event to animate a node that is part of the widget but not what its connected to. In order to do this i need access to this node. for example if i were to actually modify the widget code itself: // ... other methods/properties "open" : function(event){ // ... the original logic // this is my animation $(this.list).slideUp('slow'); // this is the orginal call to _trigger this._trigger('open', event, $this._uiHash()); }, // ... other methods/properties However when in the scope of the event handler i attach this is the orginal element i called the widget on. I need the widget instance or specifically the widget instance's list property. $('select#custom').selectmenu({ 'open': function(){ // in this scope `this` is an HTMLSelectElement not the ui widget } }); Whats the best way to go about getting the list property from the widget?

  • running requestAnimationFrame from within a new object

    - by JVE999
    I'm having trouble running an animation. This is inside var ob1 = function() {};. When called, it runs for a while and then I get the error Uncaught RangeError: Maximum call stack size exceeded. However, this same structure has no problems running outside of the object. /////////////// Render the scene /////////////// this.render = function (){ renderer.render(scene,camera); if(isControls == true) controls.update(clock.getDelta()); this.animate(); //console.log(true); requestAnimationFrame(this.render()); } /////////////// Update objects /////////////// this.animate = function (){ console.log("!"); }
