  • How to setup Android sdk from command-line on headless server ?

    So far Ive managed to download and install the SDK and its in my PATH. Problem now is that I can't run "android update sdk" since it expects to be connected to a display and Im connected to a remote headless server through ssh (its a build server so there's no desktop env). Is there a command-line option for the android tool that tells it to run without X ?

  • Cannot open database "DataDir" requested by the login. The login failed

    Hi, I have a single user software that uses SQL Server database 2005. My computer was crushed while my software was on. I saved a copy of my database after I rescued my computer. However my software gives my following message. ( I don't know anything about SQL) However, I guess my database has the last login information. Since software was not shot down properly, it still thinks that I am logged in doesn't allow me to login again. How can I solve the problem? Can you help me?   • open iphone google maps with back button

    Hi, i have a webview in my iphone app where a google map location is opened like; Directions now the google map native app opens fine, but how could i add a RETURN button so it would jump back to my html page. Now i have to click my home button and the app close back to the desktop, so i have to start my webview again. in android its more easy, because there is always a back button and after viewing my gmap i simply back in my webview. thx chris

  • Creating directory?

    When iam creating directory using sytem as user create directory emp_dir1 AS "'C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\vin.txt"; vin.txt is my file it creates it. same when i do using user Scott it gives an error for path of file that "Identifier is too long" but when i put this file path in single quotes instead of double quotes for scott, it creates it. What is the reason behind?

  • Using Reachability for Internet *or* local WiFi?

    I've searched SO for the answer to this question, and it's not really addressed, at least not to a point where I can make it work. I was originally only checking for Internet reachability, using: self.wwanReach = [Reachability reachabilityWithHostName:@"www.apple.com"]; [wwanReach startNotifer]; I now need to support a local WiFi connection (in the absence of reaching the Internet in general), and when I found +reachabilityForLocalWiFi, I also noticed there was +reachabilityForInternetConnection. I figured I could use these, instead of hard-coding "www.apple.com" in there, but alas, when I use self.wwanReach = [Reachability reachabilityForInternetConnection]; [wwanReach startNotifer]; self.wifiReach = [Reachability reachabilityForLocalWiFi]; [wifiReach startNotifer]; the reachability callback that I've set up "never" gets called, for values of "never" up to 10, 12, 15 minutes or so (which was as long as my patience lasted. (User's patience will be much less, I'm sure.) Switching back to +reachabilityWithHostName: works within seconds. I also tried each "pair" individually, in case there was an issue with two notifiers in progress simultaneously, but that made no difference. So: what is the appropriate way to determine reachability to either the Internet/WWAN or a local Wifi network (either one, or both)? [This particular use case is an iPhone or iPad connecting to a Mac mini computer-to-computer network; I'm sure other situations apply.]

    OK, so I know what a code smell is, and the Wikipedia Article is pretty clear in its definition: In computer programming, code smell is any symptom in the source code of a computer program that indicates something may be wrong. It generally indicates that the code should be refactored or the overall design should be reexamined. The term appears to have been coined by Kent Beck on WardsWiki. Usage of the term increased after it was featured in Refactoring. Improving the Design of Existing Code. I know it also provides a list of common code smells. But I thought it would be great if we could get clear list of not only what code smells there are, but also how to correct them. Some Rules Now, this is going to be a little subjective in that there are differences to languages, programming style etc. So lets lay down some ground rules: ** ONE SMELL PER ANSWER PLEASE! & ADVISE ON HOW TO CORRECT! ** See this answer for a good display of what this thread should be! DO NOT downmod if a smell doesn't apply to your language or development methodology We are all different. DO NOT just quickly smash in as many as you can think of Think about the smells you want to list and get a good idea down on how to work around. DO downmod answers that just look rushed For example "dupe code - remove dupe code".     Dear All, I need to parallelize a CPU intensive Java application on my multicore desktop but I am not so comfortable with threads programming. I looked at Scala but this would imply learning a new language which is really time consuming. I also looked at Ateji PX Java parallel extensions which seem very easy to use but did not have a chance yet to evaluate it. Would anyone recommend it? Other suggestions welcome.   • Accepting more simultaneous keyboard inputs

    Sometimes, a normal computer keyboard will only accept user's inputs up to a certain key simultaneously. I got a logitech keyboard that can accept up to 3-4 key presses at the same time. The computer does not accept any more input if you press more than 4 keys for this keyboard. And it also depends on certain areas of your keyboard as well. Some locations allow more key to be pressed (like the arrow keys), while some locations permit you to press only 1-2 keys. This also differs from keyboard to keyboard as well. Some older keyboards only accept up 1-2 keys. This isn't problematic with usual office work, but when it comes to gaming. For instance, imagine a platform game, where you have to jump, attack, and control direction at the same time. This implies several key presses and some keyboards cannot accept such simultaneous input. However, I've tried this on several games and the amount of possible keyboard inputs seem to be also different. Therefore, we have two issues: Keyboards have different amount of simultaneous inputs. Some games can accept more keyboard inputs than other games. At first, I thought this is hardware only problem, but why do some programs behave differently? Why some programs can accept more keyboard inputs than other programs? So how can we write our programs to accept more keyboard inputs?

  • Should a g_object_new have a matching g_object_unref?

    I'm using libnotify to show desktop notifications in my application; notify_notification_new() returns a NotifyNotification*, which should be passed as the first param to further function calls of the notification library. There is no notify_notification_free() which frees the pointer it returns. I looked up the source of notify_notification_new() and internally it does a g_object_new(), gets a GObject* and returns it as a NotfiyNotification*, so when my application does the clean up, should I call a g_object_unref() on the pointer returned by notify_notification_new()?

  • automate operations within a Virtualbox machine

    Hi, I'm Having some trouble in a vm that seems to occur only once in a hundred during shutdown/reboot. To help the debug, I'm thinking to write a script that runs on my desktop, which starts the vm and automate operations for a huge number of times (keyboard key pressed) whithin it. (VirtualBox preferred). It's just exactly how a script using the expect lib would do with a program in command line. I'm not sure it's possible, but anyway, if anyone has an idea... Cheers

  • Javascript Mp3 Player, NONE FLASH

    I currently have a simple flash Mp3 player on my site which works lovely. The issue is, most cell phones do not support flash and a large portion of my visitors come through via a mobile device. The alternative to this is to replace the flash player with a javascript player. I found a JQuery one but it only works on HTML5 compatible browsers. Does anyone know of a good alternative that would work on mobile devices as well as most desktop web browsers?

  • Simple startup on boot of misc application (Java based) on Ubuntu Linux 8+ as a daemon

    What is the easiest way to have an application launch at startup on Ubuntu server as daemon? This is a java application (java com.run.run.Run) etc. How would I have it launch as a user and possibly have access to write to some log file where the user has permissions to write? And if I don't end up doing that, how would I launch the application as the root user at startup. Edited: It is a headless server, I don't have access to the desktop applications.

    When i click a button my main window i want it to become transparent to keyboard and mouse events, i.e. all keyboard and mouse events should pass to any windows below it as if that window is not present there. "Qt::WA_TransparentForMouseEvents" does not work here as this only make child windows transparent to keyboard and mouse events i guess. And my window is main window and i want to pass all event to any window on desktop not just parent window.

  • Using boost asio for pub/sub style tcp in a game loop

    I have been reading through the boost asio documentation for a couple of hours now, and while I think the documentation is really great, I am still left a bit confused on how to implement the system that I need. I have to stream info, from a game engine, to a list of computers over tcp. One snag is that, unlike traditional pub/sub, the computer that does the distribution of info is actually the computer that has to connect to the subscribers as well (instead of the subscribers registering with the publisher). This is done via a config file - a list of ip's/ports along with the data that they each require. The subscribers listen, but do not know the ip of the publisher. (As a side note, I'm quite new to network programming, so maybe I'm missing something .. but it's strange that I do not find much information regarding this style of "inverted" client-server model..) I am looking for suggestions for the implementation of such a system using boost asio. Of course I have to integrate the networking into an already existing engine, so with regards to that: What would be a good way to handle messages being sent to multiple computers every frame? Use async_write, call io_service.run and then reset every frame? Would having io_service.run have its own thread be better? Or should I just use threads and use blocking writes?
