  Is there an easy way to set the Localizable property to true for newly created usercontrols / forms? The scope of the setting should ideally be a solution or a project. In other words I want to say that this project/solution should be localizable, and then if I add a new form or control VS should automatically set the property to true.

• .Net Com Interop Create Instance Slow

  I have a .net 4 application that uses a Com Dll to send SMS messages. I used TlbImp to create the interop assembly and that is what is referenced in the application. When I try to create an instance of this class, it takes a really long time (2-5 seconds). I ran performance profile in VS 2010 and the call that takes the longest by far is System.Activator.CreateInstance(). I am looking for tips on how to debug or gotchas with using Com Interop.

• Why isnt sql management studio integrated in visual studio?

  I have both SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 installed and think it would be really nice to have SQL Management Studio integrated directly within Visual Studio. Is there a way to make that happen? What about in VS 2010 with SQL Server 2008? I find the Visual Studio Server Explorer window to be much slower too than the Object Browser in SQL Server's Management Studio... it would be nice to never really need to use the Server Explorer.

I would like to have slightly different behaviour in the CacheMetaData override depending on if the Activity is in Design or Execution mode.   Hi, I just upgraded to VS 2010 and MVC 2.0 and I noticed the web.config has two additional files attached to it? Are thee files used to specify debug and release specific settings, so you don't clutter up the main web.config? Does it even make sense to place a connection string in the root web.config file if I have have a local and remote one in the debug and release web.configs respectively. Thanks!

I like the VS syntax highlighting and auto-indentation features but additionally would like advanced features like: contextual info and help, collapsible JavaScript blocks, implicit symbol understanding for searching, refactoring and that kind of thing; also warnings and errors for the js code.   Hi all, When you embed a reosurce into a .NET assembly using Visual Studio, it is prefixed with the assembly name. However, assemblies can have embedded resources that are not assembly-name-prefixed. The only way I can see to do this is to disassemble the assembly using ildasm, then re-assemble it, adding the new resource -- which works, but... do I really need to finish that sentence?   Can I user mono's AOT (Ahead of Time compilation) feature to natively "pre-compile" all or part of some of my own .NET DLLs (and or EXEs) to make them harder to reverse engineer? I'm using Windows (7 / x64 but I have an x86 XP machine as well) and .NET 3.5 (VS 2008) and I'm curious if mono/AOT can be/has been used for this purpose? (Tying them to x86 is acceptable at this point.) See also this question where I tried this and had no luck.

  I'm investigating smart pointers with "shared" functionality for Windows CE and Mobile, where the VS 2008 tr1 std::shared_ptr cannot be used (due to linkage to a v.9 dll not present on CE, obviously, if I understand it correctly). This paves the way for Javascript minifiers/combiners that take into account proper ordering of script includes. The only thing that might bother some is that it's VS-Doc. Are there any competing standards that are designed to be vendor-neutral? And how widely is the VSDoc standard used by non-Microsoft IDEs such as Eclipse, etc?

  I've been using using F5 (Start Debugging) for years to build the code (if its out of date), and then debug. This was working on VS 2010 also, however today it just start debugging without a build. Say I do a clean on the project, and then hit F5 instead of building it so it can run it throws an error message saying that the exe doesn't exist to run. How do I make it build first? What could have changed?
