Problem with javascript in firefox when moving google ads

hi. i have a website with google ads on it. i would like to make it load faster. thus i moved all the google scripts to the bottom of the page. i also have a placeholder at the location where the ad(s) should be displayed and other divs that (initially) get the ads. finally (in window.onload) i'm moving the ads that have just be fetched from google to their target locations. (a simple example page is here: http://www.nickles.de/temp/ads.html ) this works in ie, but it doesn't work in ff. (that is, in firefox, non-text ads show up fine, while text-ads don't. [or at least, not in a reliable way.]) any ideas what would be causing this? Thanks! -thomas woelfer

I am writing a piece of code in Java that needs to take a time sent from a bash script and parse the time to milliseconds. When I check the millisecond conversion on the date everything is correct except for the month I have sent which is January instead of March. Which JavaScript MVC framework to use for wysiwyg editing and floating context-sensitive settings pa

I'm developing a cms that allows editing everything on the page (generated server-side with a template engine) by just clicking on it — the area turns into input field, textarea or a full-featured tinyMCE editor, Template defines editable elements like "page heading", "copyright footer text", "image", "rich text block" etc. Along with that there's always a flotaing panel with several tabs, some of which contain general settings like page bacground color, font settings etc, but some are context sensitive (e.g., the clicking on "image" editable field triggers to display uploading/cropping/captioning interface in the floating panel). All settings in the panel are either simple inputs or sliders or checkboxes. I'm new to using MVC with javascript, and in fact haven't used it much before. jQuery is used as code library for the project. Should i use JavascriptMVC, SproutCore or anything else? Does any of them allow some kind of sandboxing (within bounds of commmon sense) to allow some javascript code by user-generated skins on my cms? thank you!

Mvc relative path using virtual directory..help!

When i drag and drop my image/script/css file into my view, relative path will automatically use to refer on the files. example: <link href="../../Content/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> <script src="../../Scripts/jquery-min.js" type="text/javascript"></script> <img src="../../Images/logo.jpg" /> It is working fine when i host it on my root directory, but if i'm using virtual directory then only my css file able to refer correctly, the rest will return 404...as it will refer to http://{root}/Images/logo.jpg rather than http://{root}/{virtual directory}/Images/logo.jpg But why css file is working? and how to specify the relative path correctly for both root & virtual directory cases?

Get list of users belonging to a role using Authorization Manager (AzMan)

Using ASP.NET (C#) I have set up Authorization Manager to allow me to handle roles on a website. Added users to roles is simple Roles.AddUserToRole("DOMAIN\\UserName", "role"). However I want to list the users belonging to a role, but since they are stored as SID's, displaying them would not be that helpful. To get the users, I am thinking XML would have to be used, although is it possible to use COM Interop to both do that and get the user name? Either way, how can I get the users belonging to a role? I am attaching handlers to the KeyDown and KeyUp events of a Silverlight 3 TextBox as so: _masterTextBox.KeyDown += (s, args) => { CheckForUserEnteredText(MasterTextBox.Text); args.Handled = false; }; _masterTextBox.KeyUp += (s, args) => { UpdateText(MasterTextBox.Text); }; When I comment out the KeyDown handler, then the KeyUp will trap the event, otherwise, only the KeyDown handler is triggered. Microsft Jet oledb connection to excel loses formulae

I have a dataset and I write it's values to an excel file using Microsoft Jet 4.0 Oledb provider. I want to put hyperlinks into the excel, for this I write "=HYPERLINK("http://www.abc.org/x.pdf")" in DS and then write it to excel. But when the excel is opened it prefixes a ' (quote/apostrophe) before the formula and there it comes as a text, not link. Can you help me removing that quote so that my excel file has hyperlinks instead of that as text? I need to use Microsoft Jet 4.0 provider (not excel component) as the client machine may or may not have MS-Excel installed on his machine.

Drop target - where do I register the COleDropTarget variable if the view class doesn't have OnCreat

The MSDN site says: From your view class's function that handles the WM_CREATE message (typically OnCreate), call the new member variable's Register member function. Revoke will be called automatically for you when your view is destroyed. But I don't have an OnCreate function in the ChildView class. I do have OnCreate in the CMainFrame class. Can I register it there? What are the ramifications? PLEASE NOTE: I have it working for dropping files but I want to drop the text as a file, not at a cursor location like a text cut and paste, but rather I want the application to make a buffer to hold it, and I will treat it like a file. Mibble MIB Parser - extracting comments from the mib.

I am using the Mibble MIB Parser to extract all simple data types from an MIB file. I've been successful until my attempt to extract comment text. Take the following module as an example: invBookList OBJECT-TYPE SYNTAX INTEGER { mobydick(1), -- call me ishmael paradiselost(2), -- aComment 1984(3), -- aComment solaris(4) -- aComment } MAX-ACCESS read-only STATUS current DESCRIPTION "A few Books for an example." ::= { invMasterList 43 } According to Mibble's API, the OBJECT-TYPE can be accessed by extracting an SnmpObjectType and then calling the appropriate getter method. Which I have done, and can successfully extract all of the text except the comments in the INTEGER syntax. I have tried calling getSyntax().getComment() on the SnmpObjectType, but always returns null. getSyntax() will extract the INTEGER syntax, e.g.: mobydick(1),paradiselist(2),1984(3),solaris(4) but unfortunately strips out the comments. Any one out there have experience with Mibble Parser who knows how to extract the comments? Many Thanks.

JavaScript: Doing some stuff right before the user exits the page

I have seen some questions here regarding what I want to achieve and have based what I have so far on those answer. But there is a slight misbehavior that is still irritating me. What I have is sort of a recovery feature. Whenever you are typing text, the client sends a sync request to the server every 45 seconds. It does 2 things. First, it extends the lease the client has on the record (only one person may edit at one time) for another 60 seconds. Second, it sends the text typed so far to the server in case the server crashes, internet connection fails, etc. In that case, the next time the user enters our application, the user is notified that something has gone wrong and that some text was recovered. Think of Microsoft or OpenOffice recovery whenever they crash! Of course, if the user leaves the page willingly, the user does not need to be notified and as a result, the recovery is deleted. I do that final request via a beforeunload event. Everything went fine until I was asked to make a final adjustment... The same behavior you have here at stack overflow when you exit the editor... a confirm dialogue. This works so far, BUT, the confirm dialogue is shown twice. Here is the code. YUI Calendar: Skinning and CSS

I'm using YUI 2's calendar in YUI 3. I want to make a few minor changes to the default sam skin. What is the best way to do that? Also, how does it load Sam's skin CSS? I didn't manually include it (though it seems like I should so the user can download it in the one request I make to the combo loader for css?). Note: The script does include more than I need for just YUI 2's calendar, but that's because I use YUI 3 for other things irrelevant to this question.

How to create a compiler in vb.net

Before answering this question, understand that I am not asking how to create my own programming language, I am asking how, using vb.net code, I can create a compiler for a language like vb.net itself. Essentially, the user inputs code, they get a .exe. By NO MEANS do I want to write my own language, as it seems other compiler related questions on here have asked. I also do not want to use the vb.net compiler itself, nor do I wish to duplicate the IDE. The exact purpose of what I wish to do is rather hard to explain, but all I need is a nudge in the right direction for writing a compiler (from scratch if possible) which can simply take input and create a .exe. I have opened .exe files as plain text before (my own programs) to see if I could derive some meaning from what I assumed would be human readable text, yet I was obviously sorely disappointed to see the random ascii, though it is understandable why this is all I found. I know that a .exe file is simply lines of code, being parsed by the computer it is on, but my question here really boils down to this: What code makes up a .exe? How could I go about making one in a plain text editor if I wanted to? (No, I do not want to do that, but if I understand the process my goals will be much easier to achieve.) What makes an executable file an executable file? Where does the logic of the code fit in? This is intended to be a programming question as opposed to a computer question, which is why I did not post it on SuperUser. I know plenty of information about the System.IO namespace, so I know how to create a file and write to it, I simply do not know what exactly I would be placing inside this file to get it to work as an executable file. I am sorry if this question is "confusing", "dumb", or "obvious", but I have not been able to find any information regarding the actual contents of an executable file anywhere. One of my google searches Something that looked promising EDIT: The second link here, while it looked good, was an utter fail. I am not going to waste hours of my time hitting keys and recording the results. "Use the "Alt" and the 3-digit combinations to create symbols that do not appear on the keyboard but that you need in the program." (step 4) How the heck do I know what symbols I need??? Thank you very much for your help, and my apologies if this question is a nooby or "bad" one. To sum this up simply: I want to create a program in vb.net that can compile code in a particular language to a single executable file. What methods exist that can allow me to do this, and if there are none, how can I go about writing my own from scratch?

convert string to float without silent NaN/Inf conversion

I'd like convert strings to floats using Python 2.6 and later, but without silently converting things like 'NaN' and 'Inf'. Before 2.6, float("NaN") would raise a ValueError. Now it returns a float for which math.isnan() returns True, which is not useful behaviour for my application. Here's what I've got at the moment: import math def get_floats(source): for text in source.split(): try: val = float(text) if math.isnan(val) or math.isinf(val): raise ValueError yield val except ValueError: pass This is a generator, which I can supply with strings containing whitespace-separated sequences representing real numbers. I'd like it to yield only those fields which are purely numeric representations of floats, as in "1.23" or "-34e6", but not for example "NaN" or "-Inf". Test case: assert list(get_floats('1.23 -34e6 NaN -Inf')) == [1.23, -34000000.0] Please suggest alternatives you consider more elegant, even if they involve "look before you leap" (which is normally considered a lesser approach in Python).

IE and Content-disposition inline vs. extension-token

Preamble So IE does Mime-Type sniffing. That part's old news. Suggestions of how to combat it tend to be along the lines of 'supply a content-type IE trusts' (i.e. anything that isn't text/plain or application/octet-stream) or 'add extraneous data at the start of the file that is definitely of the type you're serving'. Now, I'm working on an application that has to allow message attachments (like in e-mails), and we want to close up XSS vectors. IE's mime sniffing is one of those vectors - a text/plain file with html content will trigger as html. Recoding isn't an option at this point, changing the attachments the user has provided can only happen if there is absolutely no doubt about the maliciousness of the file - and someone might want to send HTML as text. Now, Microsoft's MSDN article implies the situation might be easier to fix than advertised: If Internet Explorer knows the Content-Type specified and there is no Content-Disposition data, Internet Explorer performs a "MIME sniff," [...] Great! Except I don't have IE nor current means to reliably install it (I realise this is a fairly sad state for a webdeveloper to be in, I hope to fix this soon) and this is grey theory that I can't quite seem to get confirmed one way or the other. Local sources say that line is hogwash - IE will mime sniff anything that is Content-Disposition: inline / <default> and not specific enough for its tastes in -Type. But what about x-* ('extension-token' in the RFC)? Trying to google for how browsers handle Content-Disposition: <extension-token> hasn't yielded anything (though I may just be doing it wrong, my understanding of Google is seriously slipping lately). I found one question that looked promising, but turned out to be a misunderstanding on side of the thread author, meaning that the train of thought was never actually addressed there. Question(s) Does IE really Mime sniff if you expressly pass Content-Disposition: inline? If so: Does anyone here know how browsers handle Content-Disposition: <extension-token>? If they do this in a way that is for my purposes benign, by presuming it to be synonymous with the default (effectively 'inline', though I hear it's not defined anywhere?), is it specific enough for IE not to Mime sniff? Or am I actually shooting myself in the foot by thinking of pursuing this avenue?

editing a file with vim that has no EOL marker on the last line but has CRLF line endings

I often have to edit script files, the interpreter for which treats files that have an EOL marker on the last line of the file as an error (i.e. the file is treating CRLF as "newlines", not as "line endings"). Currently, I open these files in Vim using binary mode (-b on the command line). It autodetects the lack of EOL on the final line and sets the "noeol" option appropriately, which prevents it from writing an EOL on the last line. Because the file has CRLF line endings, I get lots of ^Ms at the end of my lines (because it interprets only Unix-style line endings in binary mode, it seems). I can't open it in text mode because the "noeol" option is ignored for non-binary files. This is very annoying, and I always have to remember to manually type the ^M at the end of each line! Is there some way I can force it to accept DOS-style line endings in binary mode, or force it to listen to the EOL option in text mode?
