• SEO: Duplicated URLs with and without dash "/" and ASP.NET MVC

  Hello guys, after reading this article "Slash or not to slash" (link: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/04/to-slash-or-not-to-slash.html) on Google Webmaster Central Blog (the oficial one) I decided to test my ASP.NET MVC app. For example: http://domain.com/products and http://domain.com/products/ (with "/" in the end), return the code 200, which means: Google understands it as two different links and likely to be a "duplicated content". They suggest to choose the way you want... with or without dash and create a 301 permanent redirect to the preferred way. So if I choose without dash, when I try to access http://domain.com/products/ it will return a 301 to the link without dash: http://domain.com/products. The question is, how can I do that with ASP.NET MVC? Thanks, Gui

• Redirect console input and output to a textbox.

  Hi there and thanking in advance I am trying (very hard) to redirect Console input and output into a textbox. So far output is working fine but the trouble is with input. For example I cannot execute a simple program that will do the following: Console.WriteLine("Please enter your name: "); string name = Console.ReadLine(); Console.WriteLine("Hi there " + name); The reason I can't achieve this is because that the program has to stop while waiting for user to type his/her name and press enter. If I wait for user input on a new thread then the main GUI thread freezes and the textbox can never receive the KeyPress. This thing has me totally stumped. Any advice (or better still code) would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  Hello, I have a site at blog.foobar.com that I have closed down, and I want any page requested there to be forwarded to www.foobar.com I want my VirtualHost config to do this for me. I currently have the following lines that does nearly what I want but not exactly: redirect permanent / http://www.foobar.com Unfortunately what happens is that if I ask for blog.foobar.com instead of forwarding to www.foobar.com it serves the pages on blog.foobar.com instead. Is there a way doing this in the VirtualHost config or should I use a .htaccess file instead? Regards Steve

  I have Pecl OAuth with PHP5 on a Debian box and I try to authenticate to LinkedIn. When calling; OAuth-getAccessToken('https://api.lin...')\n#1 I get; PHP Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'OAuthException' with message 'Invalid auth/bad request (got a 400, expected HTTP/1.1 20X or a redirect)' I have tried it from scratch and I have tried the PHP API wrappers that are available and (ofcourse, because they use OAuth Pecl ext) have all the same problem. I read somewhere it might be the timestamp on the server, but I synched that up with ntpdate; it does that quite often now, so the offset with the timeservers is almost 0. What else can it be? I'm using the Braintree API and their transparent redirect, which means that the form data is posted directly to Braintree. How can I store and later retrieve the non-payment related information provided by the user from that form e.g. account name, username?   Hi, I am redirecting a POST request to ensure the URL is correct along with other things. Also if you see any glaring errors or code mishaps let me know as I am just starting out. EDIT: I should mention this is what I get back from Safari when a real town is entered: Safari can’t open the page.Safari can’t open the page “http://localhost:3000/” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again. Thanks!

  I'm hoping to reach someone with some experience using a service like Amazon's S3 with this question. On my site we have a dedicated image server. And on this server, we have an automatic 404 redirect through Apapche so that, if a user tries to access an image that doesn't exist, they'll see a snazzy "Image Not Available" image. We're looking to move the hosting of these images to a cloud storage solution (S3 or Rackspace's CloudFiles), and I'm wondering if anyone's had any success replicating this behavior on a cloud storage service and if so how they did it.

• Rogue black-box java application not responding to standard input redirect

  I have an external java application (blackbox), which requires authentication. I need to run this application in a batch setting, but it seems to be reading from standard input in some nonstandard way. That is, if I set the calling of the program to redirect STDIN to a file (... <password.txt) or pipe data to it (echo mypasword | ...), it does not recognize the input. As I run it, also, it seems to intercept Cntrl+c and Cntrl+d and Cntrl+z as legitimate password characters, so it must be doing something odd and not just reading from standard in. Any idea what this application could be doing to read in input? I need to be able to send it information programmatically, and I'm stumped for the moment.

  i do all instruction for use prettyPhoto in https://github.com/hiq5/prettyphoto-rails. and i do this to show a single photo( not gallery ) =link_to image_tag(photo.photo_url(:thumb).to_s, :alt => photo.name ,:class => "img-polaroid"), photo.photo_url, :rel => 'prettyPhoto' but still redirect to photo url and show photo, and doesn't use jQuery to show it on the current page. i check it with chrome development tools, there isn't any error. i use haml to generate views (instead erb), and carrierwave to upload photos. by the way I use twitter bootstrap. any help is appreciated.

Now I need to add error message like index.php?form=newcustomer&Itemid=1&msg=".$msg after submitting this form. In this case it is not displaying as sef and showing "index.php?form=newcustomer&Itemid=1&msg=New Customer Received". I cld not use custom redirect also,becoz msg are dynamically generated. But now I'm writing several apps that will sit on the same server and I need them to each have individual domains. The apps live at www.myserver.com/app/app1 (app2...) and I would like to access it using www.someawesomedomain.com. I don't want a redirect since I do not want to expose the underlying path. What is the best way to do this, in the context of 5 - 10 sites? I'm using Apache2.

  I have several sites that I want to link back to the main site which hosts the contact form (using contact form 7). I would like to capture the request parameter "site-url" on incoming links to the contact form. Then when the user submits the form, I would like to redirect them back to the site specified in the site-url. Any ideas if this is possible with contact form 7? I would also like to add a special field in the contact form which would insert the site-url into the email that i get so that I know which site they were referred from.

Now, I want one of my clients which uses this assembly (version 1.3) to point to the newest version (1.4) without opening the source and recompiling the client. I saw an article demonstrating a technique for doing so using the application config file (winform application) here is the config file content : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> <configuration xmlns:asm="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"> <runtime> <asm:assemblyBinding> as you can see, there is a binding redirect from version 1.3.0.0 to 1.4.0.0 for assembly named MyFacade.   I have an existing web site and I would like to create a mobile version of it that is more suitable. For instance, the main site uses drop-down menus and we all know those are quite the fail on mobile devices. I would like to redirect to my mobile version (it will be a subdomain of the current site) if I detect a request from a mobile browser. So when they Google something and come to my site, they will automatically see the mobile version (just like Wikipedia). Does ASP.NET provide an easy way of doing this? If not, how can I do it?

  Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to get the URL of the returned resource after a AJAX call in JavaScript? I want to use this with a form, which is in "mysite.com/users/add.html". This is a Spring MVC controller. If the validation of the form fails the controller will return the "users/add" view, but if the validation is OK it will do a redirect to "mysite.com/users/index.html", using return new ModelAndView(new RedirectView("/users/index.html")); Is there a way in JavaScript to find the URL of the returned page?   I need to intercept LPT output traffic. After a couple of hours of research, I've come to understand that the only way to do this is by writing a kernel-mode driver, more precisely a "filter driver"...? I've downloaded the WDK, but the terminology and vast number of driver types is a little overwhelming. I'm basically trying to understand what kind of driver I should be writing; my target environment is Windows XP SP2 and 3 only. Some background info, if it matters: I have a bunch of legacy DOS apps that print to LPT1. I'd like to be able to capture this output and redirect this data (after GDI calls) to a modern USB (network) printer. Fortunately, the latter part of the problem's easy. I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction. TIA.

  We had some content restructure recently and I'd like to put in some redirect rules into web.config so bookmarks to the old pages can get routed to their new locations/pages. I tried using this approach: <location path="~/product/productA.aspx"> <system.webServer> <httpRedirect enabled="true" destination="~/product/category/productA.aspx" exactDestination="false" childOnly="true" httpResponseStatus="Permanent" /> </system.webServer> </location> But all I'm getting when I go to "http://www.oursite.com/product/productA.aspx" is our http 404 page. Am I doing something wrong, or is the httpRedirect tag in web.config not supported in mono? worked, but not ideal for what we want to achieve. Thank you :)

  I've read heaps of pages of people trying to implement some kind of tracking system similar to the way Google reroutes search link. Eg: Search "Facebook" in Google, open in a new window, and the link changes to something like: "http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBkQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2F&rct=j&q=Facebook&ei=sksZTZexJobJccXnxZYK&usg=AFQjCNHTTNi-O4Qgrg6kvGVfKJuRqbuOKw&cad=rja" I'm guessing Google tracks that click and then redirects to the actual site by reading the url parameter. What I wanted to know is if there was a simple way that you can make this kind of functionality work using an onclick event - just change the link href after being clicked to redirect? There's a few threads, but from what I could find, nobody has actually succeeded without problems or limitations. Thanks in advance.

• Firefox redirect response on xhr request

  Suppose we have the xhr 'POST' request that returns 'redirect' status code. In that case browser is sending additional xhr 'GET' by the given URL. I am not sure who is doing that call chain: browser itself or js library(using MooTools). The problem is that the second 'GET' request is not recognized as xhr by the server: It doesn't have "X-Requested-With" header contains "XMLHttpRequest" The problem appears only on Firefox, but not on Webkit. So, believe it is not related to js library bug. Does anyone have ideas how to fix it?

  I can't seem to get google to redirect to the callback url after obtaining the auth token. By redirecting the user to the following url, the user can click grant or deny access. After that the user clicks on one of the choices, the user is not redirected back to the callback url. https://www.google.com/accounts/OAuthAuthorizeToken?oauth_token=4%2F5ETLZ84rGmRxE_yx0b-_IFDReUxe&oauth_callback=http://blahblahblah.com/user_sessions/create&oauth_version=1.0&hd=default I'm wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be. Also does google require I use something like openssl.

  I'm having hard time getting my head wrapped around this one - and it should be trivial. I would like to redirect one URL with a specific query string to another URL. I want to send any requests that contain the query string in the URL http://mysite.com/index.php?option=com_user&view=register To: http://mysite.com/index.php?option=com_regme&view=form&regme=4&random=0&Itemid=6 If they add anything to the end of the first URL, it should still go to the second URL so that they cannot bypass the redirection. Nothing in the first query string needs to be preserved and passed to the second - all I want to do is change the URL completely. I'm tearing my hair out trying to get this to work yet it should be trivial. Suggestions? Thanks, -Tim

  I am trying to redirect /folder to / using .htaccess but all am I getting is the Apache HTTP Server Test Page. My root directory looks like this: / .htaccess -/folder -/folder2 -/folder3 My .htaccess looks like this: RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/folder/ RewriteRule ^(.*)$ folder/$1 [L] What am I doing wrong? I checked my httpd.conf (I'm running Centos 5.3) and the mod_rewrite library is being loaded. As a side note, my server is not a www server, its simply a virtual machine so its hostname is centosvm. Addition: I have found that the mod_rewrite module is loaded, but none of my .htaccess redirects seem to be working.
