  my laptop has nvidia GT540m yesterday i install nvidia-current after updating fromsudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates then i write sudo nvidia-xconfig and then reboot my desktop visual effect changes and it look good like nvidia is working but still glx i not working and nvidia-setting tells me that You do not appear to be using the NVIDIA X driver my dkms status is nvidia-current, 304.43, 3.2.0-30-generic-pae, i686: installed lspci |grep VGA output : 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09) 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 540M] (rev a1) also i can not login to my admin account but when i login to standard user or guest it works but still NVIDIA X driver is not working can any one suggest something so that NVIDIA X Driver start working as i seen many forum but none worked for me earlier i tried nvidia-173 ,nvidia-current(before x-swat/updates reprository) but none works for me

• glx not working, optirun works, gnome in fallback mode

  It all started when I installed nvidia's own driver. Uninstalling it and reverting back to nvidia-current didn't solve the problem, so I have been playing with this for a while. Now nvidia-current seems to be functional. It seems glx support is missing, and my intel graphics is not responding. gnome loads only in fallback mode. • SSIS 2008 Configuration Settings Handling Logic for Variables Visualized

  There are many articles discussing the specifics of how the configuration settings are applied including the differences between SSIS 2005 and 2008 version implementations, however this topic keeps resurfacing on MSDN’s SSIS Forum. I thought it could be useful to cover the logic aspect visually. Below is a diagram explaining the basic flow of a variable setting for a case when no parent package is involved.   As you can see the run time stage ignores any command line flags for variables already set in the config file, I realize this is not stressed enough in many publications. Besides, another interesting fact is that the command line dtexec tool is case sensitive for the portion following the package keyword, I mean if you specify your flag to set a new value for a variable like dtexec /f Package.dtsx -set \package.variables[varPkgMyDate].value;02/01/2011 (notice the lover case v in .value) You will get errors. By capitalizing the keyword the package runs successfully.

  I just upgraded to 12.10 on my Lenovo B570 laptop. NetworkManager isn't displaying a submenu for wireless connections at all, even though I downloaded the update through the wireless connection. This displeases me. • Ubuntu 14.04 doesn't detect my discrete GPU

  I recently purchased a laptop with an Nvidia GeForce 860m, and have installed Ubuntu 14.04. On my old laptop I had 12.04, which automatically filled Additional Drivers with Nvidia drivers. But on this computer, the only thing in Additional Drivers is Qualcomm. So I manually installed Nvidia, but X Server Settings doesn't seem to detect any GPU... lspci | grep VGA reports only my integrated Intel GPU, but lspci -v reports many things, including the Nvidia GPU: 01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM107M [GeForce GTX 860M] (rev a2) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.   Brand new user to Ubuntu and Linux. Quick question that I think already know the answer to: Does Ubuntu 11.10 have an updated driver for my graphics card? • Boot splash broken by "SP5100 TCO timer: mmio address 0xyyyyyyy already in use"

  I have ubuntu 11.04 with all the latest updates. I have an ATI HD 4350 graphics card and the "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver" activated. The reported behaviour does not affect the functionality, its just an optical thing. When I booted up using the desktop CD, the ubuntu boot splash was shown correctly in high resolution. • Animating isometric sprites

  I'm having trouble coming up with a way to animate these 2D isometric sprites. The sprites are stored like this: < Game Folder Root /Assets/Sprites/< Sprite Name /< Sprite Animation /< Sprite Direction /< Frame Number .png So for example, /Assets/Sprites/Worker/Stand/North-East/01.png Sprite sheets aren't really viable for this type of animation. The example stand animation is 61 frames. 61 frames for all 8 directions alone is huge, but there's more then just a standing animation for each sprite. Creating an sf::Texture for every image and every frame seems like it will take up a lot of memory and be hard to keep track of that many images. Unloading the image and loading the next one every single frame seems like it will do a lot of unnecessary work. What's the best way to handle this?

  I have just installed Ubuntu 13.10 on my Toshiba Satellite Pro L650. After several reboots, installing/ uninstalling the broadcom driver I still can't connect. It detects the wi fi signals and the icon flashes as if it's trying to connect but never actually does. • Trouble with 12.10 lag

  Well basicly lately I have been having lag problems with 12.10. I will post my specs, but before the update to 12.10, it said that I had intel graphics. Now it says I have Gallium. • Cannot get Atheros AR9285 to work on 12.10

  I've already went through all possible advices and still cannot start my Atheros AR9285 wireless card. I have a laptop Toshiba Portege Z830 where the WiFi already worked under Windows 7. • aticonfig detects all graphics cards, but amdcccle shows the cards as disabled

  I been having the strangest problem since few days ago. I have 3 ATI graphics cards and the aticonfig --list-adapter shows the following output * 0. 01:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series 1. 02:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series 2. 05:00.0 AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series when i do aticonfig --adapter=all --initial -f it generates the correct X config also. but after rebooting the output only show on primary monitor and when i look in amdcccle it shows the other 2 adapters as disabled. I tried with monitors attached and dummy plugs both but the situation doesn't change. Any idea whats causing this? also right clicking and making the adapter enabled in amdcccle and saving changes causes the X config to only have the adapter section and no screen section. after reboot the situation stays the same.

  I upgraded my Ubuntu 10.10 for Ubuntu 12.04. I have a Emachines E625 With Ubuntu 12.04 my wireless always disconnects every 10 sec. It didn't do that with 10.10. Every thing works fine except I'm getting no wireless network options in the network drop down menu. I'm using a cable at the moment. • KDE fonts not rendering bold in Ubuntu 12.04

  I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with some KDE programs: kate and yakuake. Neither of these programs will render bold font. Instead, the font appears as "Regular". How can I fix this? The image below shows an example of Kate rendering python with the stock python highlighting (the colors are inverted using CompizConfig Settings Manager's Negative option). The following words should have appeared bold: class def __init__ lambda + print Similarly Yakuake (or perhaps, the underlying Konsole) is not rendering bold. My LS_COLORS includes: di=01;34 (bold blue) Below is my gnome-terminal rendering bold fonts just fine.

  I have very strange problem. After suspending to ram notebook doesn't wakes up, only leds and fan switches on, no HDD activity and display stays off(without backlights-completly off). If I press numlock- led doesn't switches, all buttons are not warkable. I have installed uswsusp and tryed to use s2ram, but result is exactly similar. I tryed to remove fglrx, but useless.
