    My O2 dongle seems to connect to my Work VPN only after 10.30pm??? I cant understand why it doesnt work during the day, same laptop, same connection settings, same location? Is it possible the provider limits VPN ports or service during the day?

I can't change the cached password for peanuts. I can't find an option in NetScreen remote to connect to the VPN before logging in, as suggested here. How do I change the cached password?

    I've set up Squid proxy, and I confirmed it's working on my PC. Note: To be able to use the Internet with better speed, I have to forward to another parent proxy (my university's proxy). Now I'm using HideMyAss VPN (OpenVPN protocol), but without the squid, since I don't know how to configure them to work correctly. Note: I'm using the university's proxy in HideMyAss VPN software so that I get good Internet connection, but if I use squid's proxy, it doesn't work.

  • custom route not working on windows

    My windows laptop is directly connected to 192.168.1.0/24 (wireless lan). I access 10.21.0.0/16 though a router that is connected to both networks. The routing works fine with this configuration. I have a VPN, that connects to 10.0.0.0/8. The VPN network doesn't actually use any IPs in the 10.21.0.0/16 range. So I should be able to configure my routing table to route all the 10.21.0.0/16 IPs through the wireless lan, and all other 10.0.0.0/8 through the VPN. My understanding is that I can do this if the metric for the 10.21.0.0 is lower than that of the 10.0.0.0. The VPN (10.0.0.0) is automatically assigned metric 20. I have manually assigned the WLAN a metric of 1. I manually add an entry to the routing table with this command: route add 10.21.0.0 mask 255.255.0.0 192.168.1.201 metric 1 The route is then assigned a metric of 2 (which is expected). The problem is that it doesn't work. I can't ping any machine on the 10.21.0.0 network. But I can access other stuff on the 10.0.0.0. I can also access stuff on the 192.168.1.0. To debug this i've done the following. Run tcpdump on the router (192.168.1.201). I can verify that no packets for 10.21.0.0 arrive on that interface. Disable iptables on the router. Disable the windows firewall. Run wireshark on my laptop, to try and see which interface the ping requests go to. But I can't see them go anywhere!! The ping command doesn't receive any 'destination unreachable' messages. Here is the relevant section of the routing table.   • How can I forward all web traffic from my Cisco ASA 5100 to a checkpoint firewall?

    Hi, I currently have two Cisco ASA 5100 routers setup with a site-to-site VPN at different physical locations. They are successfully configured so that all traffic at our remote site is forwarded over this VPN tunnel to our router here, which is fine, however I need the web traffic that comes here to then be forwarded onto our Check Point firewall router.   • What's the advantage of OpenVPN over SSTP?

    If considering Windows only environment, what's the advantage of introducing OpenVPN as the company VPN service, instead of Windows built-in protocols? Especially the new SSTP protocol already overcome the one of the weakness of PPTP, which may not go over firewall/NAT. I'm wondering is there any reason not to use Windows integrated solution. The strength of the security can be an issue but I'm not sure how different they are (I know MS VPN was vulnerable but is it still?) Thanks.

    I am using the Connection Manager Administration Kit (CMAK) to create vpn connections for my users, if it is possible how do I create a custom action that launches an executable that runs synchronously? In the help file it says Only DLLs run synchronously, meaning that Connection Manager starts the action and then waits for the function to return before continuing Is there any way around this? I have seen something similar called VPN-Q which from the screen shots appear to do just that.

When I have to create an iptables rule to allow proper routing of VPN subnet, with this command: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.8.0.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE It throws this error: iptables: No chain/target/match by that name I was searching and I've found that this error is usually thrown when you misspell something, but as far as I understand, the rule is correct...

  • Cisco Routing through VPN

    I am looking for a way to allow a client Win7 computer, which connects to our California office's Cisco ASA 5510 over an IPSec VPN connection to then be able to connect to a computer in our chicago office which is itself connected through another Cisco ASA router to california. It appears that we are unable to route client vpn connections between each other, and I cannot find any guidance on how to enable this. Let me know if this is possible / what needs to be done.

Is there a straightforward way to do this? This is my /etc/network/interfaces # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet static address 192.168.48.16 netmask 255.255.248.0 wireless-essid mynet auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address xx.xx.xx.xx netmask 255.255.255.224 gateway xx.xx.yy.yy When I restart /etc/init.d/networking, I can access the eth0 ip address from the internet and I can ping the machines in my wifi network mynet. Everything works fine and I have one default gateway. But after some time if I check again the route I just find two default gateways: one is correct and is the previous one, but the other is the one of the wifi network. I have a quite low signal of mynet where my server is and sometimes the wifi just disconnect and then reconnect again. Then I think that this can be a problem and the dhcp of the wifi net, when reconnecting it also add a default gateway. Any idea on how to resolve this issue?

    There is DHCP server in network (isc-dhcpd-server-3.0 on FreeBSD 7.2) than gives one IP per switch port to every user via Option 82 The problem appears when user disconnects one of his computers and connects another(i.e notebook with different MAC address) then DHCPD puts to log "...network net1: no free leases", because there is record in leases file that this IP is already owned by another MAC. That second computer will have his IP only after default-lease-time (that is IIRC minimum 10min, and after 3min he usually calling support) or after deletion of dhcpd.leases file and restart of dhcpd. Is there a way to turn leases off at all, because we have strict binding between switch-port-ip?

My clients are Debian Linux Distro's, and I have to modify my DHCLIENT.CONF file on it to send his Full Qualified Hostname. BUT I've about 1600 computers and I don't want to modify each client one by one, then, Could I for exemple use a System Variable on the Config file? Exemple: #DHCLIENT CONF; send "$hostname" where $hostname variable is the alias write on BASHRC for the hostname -f command. If you need any more informations just tell me.

  • Can I issue wireless clients with IP address on different subnet?

    We have a very standard setup with a Windows Server 2003 domain controller issuing IP addresses using DHCP. This works fine. Internet access is managed via Microsoft ISA Server 2006 Standard. Clients are required to authenticate and this works fine. We now need to provide wireless internet access to visitors for laptops, iPhones etc. We've bought a couple of Netgear access points so I was thinking we might be able to issue wireless clients connected to it with an IP address on a different subnet and then allow non-authenticated Internet access via the ISA Server for that IP range. Does that sound plausible? I'm not even sure if I can issue a different subnet to wireless clients.
