  I have a problem when attempting to serialize class on a server, send it to the client and deserialize is on the destination. On the server I have the following two classes: [XmlRoot("StatusUpdate")] public class GameStatusUpdate { public GameStatusUpdate() {} public GameStatusUpdate(Player[] players, Command command) { this.Players = players; this.Update = command; } [XmlArray("Players")] public Player[] Players { get; set; } [XmlElement("Command")] public Command Update { get; set; } } and [XmlRoot("Player")] public class Player { public Player() {} public Player(PlayerColors color) { Color = color; ... } [XmlAttribute("Color")] public PlayerColors Color { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("X")] public int X { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("Y")] public int Y { get; set; } } (The missing types are all enums). This generates the following XML on serialization: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <StatusUpdate> <Players> <Player Color="Cyan" X="67" Y="32" /> </Players> <Command>StartGame</Command> </StatusUpdate> On the client side, I'm attempting to deserialize that into following classes: [XmlRoot("StatusUpdate")] public class StatusUpdate { public StatusUpdate() { } [XmlArray("Players")] [XmlArrayItem("Player")] public PlayerInfo[] Players { get; set; } [XmlElement("Command")] public Command Update { get; set; } } and [XmlRoot("Player")] public class PlayerInfo { public PlayerInfo() { } [XmlAttribute("X")] public int X { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("Y")] public int Y { get; set; } [XmlAttribute("Color")] public PlayerColor Color { get; set; } } However, the deserializer throws an exception: There is an error in XML document (2, 2). <StatusUpdate xmlns=''> was not expected. • How to read from an XmlReader without moving it forwards

  hey guys, I've got this scenario: while (reader.Read()) { if (reader.NodeType == XmlNodeType.Element && reader.Name == itemElementName) { XElement item = null; try { item = XElement.ReadFrom(reader) as XElement; } catch (XmlException ex) { //log line number and stuff from XmlException class } } } In the above loop I'm transforming a certain node (itemElementName) into an XElement. Some nodes will be good XML and will go into an XElement, however, some will not. In the CATCH, I'd like to now only catch the standard XmlException stuff... I'd also like to catch an extract of the current Xml and a string. However, if I do any kind of READ operation on the node before I pass it to the XElement, it moves the reader forward. How can get a "snapshot" of the contents of the OuterXml of the reader without interfering with it's position?

• Stop node containing subnodes and text in schema

  If I have some xml like this: <mynode> <mysubnode> <mysubsubnode>hello world</mysubsubnode> some more text </mysubnode> </mynode> As you can see, mysubnode contains both a subnode and some text data. What I want to know is, is it possible to prevent this happening in a schema? I don't want nodes to contain subnodes and text, just subnodes or text. Is there an option in my xsd I can specify to force this? My program to that uses this xml is written in .NET, so I'll tag it as well incase there's anything of use in .net that I can utilise for this, though I'd much rather that the issue was fixed in the schema itself. • XDocument + IEnumerable is causing out of memory exception in System.Xml.Linq.dll

  Basically I have a program which, when it starts loads a list of files (as FileInfo) and for each file in the list it loads a XML document (as XDocument). The program then reads data out of it into a container class (storing as IEnumerables), at which point the XDocument goes out of scope. The program then exports the data from the container class to a database. After the export the container class goes out of scope, however, the garbage collector isn't clearing up the container class which, because its storing as IEnumerable, seems to lead to the XDocument staying in memory (Not sure if this is the reason but the task manager is showing the memory from the XDocument isn't being freed). As the program is looping through multiple files eventually the program is throwing a out of memory exception. To mitigate this ive ended up using System.GC.Collect(); to force the garbage collector to run after the container goes out of scope. this is working but my questions are: Is this the right thing to do? (Forcing the garbage collector to run seems a bit odd) Is there a better way to make sure the XDocument memory is being disposed? Could there be a different reason, other than the IEnumerable, that the document memory isnt being freed? Thanks. Anyway that's the basic structures really. The Custom Classes are populated through the container class from the XML document. The filled structures themselves use very little memory.   Hi, I have been busy creating an app for Red5. Imagine what was my surprise when I tried to configure basic/digest authentication and I couldn't. What struck me as strange is that I have a running tomcat instance that works and authenticates correctly with the following xmls: web.xml (part of) <security-constraint> <web-resource-collection> <web-resource-name>A Protected Page</web-resource-name> <url-pattern>/stats.jsp</url-pattern> </web-resource-collection> <auth-constraint> <description/> <role-name>tomcat</role-name> </auth-constraint> </security-constraint> <login-config> <auth-method>DIGEST</auth-method> <realm-name>BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA</realm-name> </login-config> <security-role> <description/> <role-name>tomcat</role-name> </security-role> and a tomcat-users.xml in /conf that looks kinda like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <tomcat-users> <role rolename="tomcat"/> <user username="ide" password="bogus" roles="tomcat"/> </tomcat-users> The annoying thing is that configuration authenticates correctly when on tomcat's servlet container, but on the red5's modified one, it just keeps asking for authentication. Am I becoming mad or it should work like a charm? Red5 is version 0_9_1 The stats.jsp is accessible in both servlet containers, the only difference is that when you input the correct password and username in tomcat, you are logged in, and in red5 you are not, it just keeps asking you for the password. Any pointers? Am I missing something?
