• Creating an OpenGL texture with alpha using NSBitmapImageRep

  I am loading a PNG using: theImage = [NSBitmapImageRep imageRepWithContentsOfFile:imagePath]; from which I can successfully create a gl texture and render correctly without any transparency. However, when I switch blending on using: glEnable(GL_BLEND); glBlendFunc(GL_SRC_ALPHA, GL_ONE); The texture renders with the correct transparent background, but the image colours are incorrect. I have tried several options in the blend function, GL_SRC_ALPHA, GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA, GL_ONE, GL_DST_ALPHA, etc. I was taught maybe I need to reorder the bits in the image data, maybe the channels have been mixed up, but I would not expect it to render correctly when blending is off in that case. Alternatively, I could use libPNG I guess, but I would like to try using a NSBitmapImageRep if it is possible.

  I'm attempting to call LinkedIn's API and store Network Updates. Each update has a Unix timestamp that I'm retrieving as a string variable from the REST XML response. I want to convert the string timestamp to a mysql datetime format. The date() function accepts an integer as the second argument for time to be converted. However, I'm on Windows 32 bit PHP and the integer type for this platform is limited to 2147483647. $timestamp = '1293714626675'; // sample pulled from linkedin $timestamp = (int) $timestamp; // timestamp now equals 2147483647 $mysqlDatetime = date('Y-m-d H:i:s', $timestamp); // produces incorrect time Is there a better method of creating the mysql datetime in PHP? I realize that I can convert it upon insert into MySQL however, that would require changing other dependent code.

• Best way to access a sqlite database file in a web service.

  First question from me on stack overflow. I have created a java web application containing a web service using netbeans (I hope a web application were the correct choice). I use the web application as is with no extra frameworks. This web service use a sqlite JDBC driver for accessing a sqlite database file. My problem is that the file path end up incorrect when I try to form the JDBC connection string. Also, the working directory is different when deploying and when running JUnit tests. I read somewhere about including the file as a resource, but examples of this were nowhere to be seen. In any case, what is the best way to open the sqlite database, both when the web service is deployed and when I test it "localy"? I don't know much about web services, I just need it to work, so please, help me with the technicalities.

• Do I need the text "_size" in the my.cnf file for mysql 5.1?

  This is a pretty simple question about setting parameters in the my.cnf file for mysql 5.1. This page gives me the parameters I can tune: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/server-parameters.html and so I think I would need to write key_buffer_size = 256M But when I open my current my.cnf, it has the line: key_buffer = 16M My question is, do I need "key_buffer_size" or "key_buffer" or does it not matter which I use? And, how would I know if something in the my.cnf is incorrect? Where's the daemon start log file? I am running ubuntu; I think version 8.04 LTS

Now I'm struggling creating this on Pylons with sqlalchemy I tried to do the following picture = Session.query(model.Picture) sub_q = picture.filter_by(albumid = model.Album.id).limit(1).subquery() album_q = Session.query(model.Album, sub_q) result = album_q.all() but it creates the following statement displaying the incorrect picture beacuse the table albums is included in the subquery select albums.name,(select pictures.path from pictures,albums where pictures.albumid=albums.id) from albums where ... Am I doing it wrong?, is this even possible in sqlalchemy?.

  I have a sql script that is set to roll to production. I've wrapped the various projects into separate transactions. In each of the transactions we created stored procedures. I'm getting error messages Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Line 4 Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'procedure'. • Error comparing hash to hashed mysql password (output values are equal)

  Im trying to compare a hashed password value in a mysql database with the hashed value of an inputted password from a login form. However, when I compare the two values it says they aren't equal.   I'm working on an academic project which simulates a rather large queuing procedure in java. The core of the simulator rests within one package where there exist 8 classes, each one implementing a single concept. Every class in the project follows SRP. These classes encapsulate the behavior of the simulator and inter-connect every other class in the project. The problem that has arisen is that most of these 8 classes are, as is logical i think, tightly coupled and each one has to have working knowledge of every other class in this package in order to be able to call methods from it when needed. The application needs only one instance of each class so it might be better to create static fields for each class in a new class and use that to make calls -instead of preserving a reference in each class for every other class in the package (which I'm certain that is incorrect)-, but is this considered a correct design solution? or is there a design pattern maybe that better suits my needs?

  Hello all, First of all, I'd like to thank the good people who helped me around on this site. Thanks. I'm trying to detect a failed authentication attempt in my app... I'm using the didReceiveAuthenticationChallenge method, and the checking if [challenge previousFailureCount] is equal to 0. The problem is that it's always stays on zero, even if the username and password that I send with the credentials are incorrect. I couldn't find any info about this kind of issue, any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is there a way using sql 2008 Management Studio to look at the queries that hit the server? I'm trying to debug a program and I get messages like "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'AND'".   Hello all, I am using Linq 2 Sql in VS 2010, and I have the following stored procedure to check a username and password ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.CheckUser ( @username varchar(50), @password varchar(50) ) AS SELECT * FROM Users Where UserName=@username AND Password=@password The problem I'm having is that it throws an exception if the username and password are incorrect. I'd like to perform a check to see if there is a return value, rather than using try/catch to determine whether the procedure returned a value. Should I do this check in code (C#)? Or is there a way to do it in SQL? Thanks.
