  • set windows PATH environment variable at runtime in Java

    I have a java program that fires off an executable using the Runtime.exec() method. I'm using the variant that takes in a set of command line params as one argument, and some environment variables as another argument. The environment variable I'm tryign to set is path, so i'm passing in "PATH=C:\some\path". This does not work. Is there some trick to this or any alternatives. I am stuck to Java 1.4 unfortunately.

    A friend of mine came to me with a french Windows XP where windows had decided that keyboard would now be english-US keyboard instead of french keyboard. After a few attempts, I came to the strange conclusion that it's impossible to change it. Whatever keyboard configuration I apply, the language dialog does not complain but sticks to the english-us keyboard. I tried : setting two keyboards, with FR as default setting two keyboards, with EN-US as default one keyboard as FR It's like it was impossible to apply a new keyboard configuration. Any idea what could be wrong ?

I used element.style.cssFloat = "none", but this just added a new style property cssFloat which didn't over-ride the existing float:right. I've now fixed it using the adding/removing classes method. But is there a way of over-riding existing float rules in ie without having to use classes?

Is there a way to force it to always pick the first image in the folder as the preview image? Explorer has perfectly fine natural sort order.   • How to set CHKDSK for drive C: in Windows 7

    I recently got a 0xc000007b error whenever I tried to run some application software. I found that CHKDSK for C drive might be a solution. When I tried to do it from C drive properties, it said the drive was in use and asked to schedule CHKDSK at the next reboot. I clicked OK. When I restart, I experience a BSOD. I waited for 10 minutes but still nothing happens. So I forced a shutdown (laptop) and again booted up the computer and got a BSOD for just 5 or 10 seconds and system boots and works with no problem. I repeated all these steps four or four times and yet with the same results. Is there any other way other than CHKDSK to solve the 0xc000007b error? If not, why is CHKDSK not working at boot up? Can I force CHKDSK on drive C: to perform while the system is on? Platform: Windows 7 64-bit.

  • Access router set up as a bridge behind another router

    I have a problem my ISP is refusing to help me with, even though they put up the whole system. Specifications: There's a Thomson TG784 router through which the internet comes in to the building, Behind that (for some reason) is a Juniper NetScreen 5XT - 105 Firewall/Router? which leads to an AMX nxa-enet24 switch that carries the connections all over the building and a series of Apple AirPorts for wifi. Problem: The first router (Thomson) is required for ipTV (by Elion). The tv or ipTV box has to be connected straight to the Thomson router. My service provider cannot see the Thomson router from their side, but see the Juniper, so we might think the Thomson has been configured as a bridge. I need a way to access the Thomson router and see it's configurations, because currently, when connecting a Samsung tv to that router (with elion app for ipTV viewing) or even a computer, it cannot access the internet and even if it could, it would update the Thomson router software, losing it's configurations which I need to preserve. I'm unable to find out the Thomson routers ip address to connect to it, and when directly conencting with a cat5 cable, it doesn't give me an ip address.     I have a folder structure similar to the one shown below these paragraphs. How do I change security on every 'Photos' folder without clicking through each individually in Windows Explorer? There are about 50 top level folders (Bob, Jim, Eva, etc, etc) which have the same layout of folders inside. I am keen for any suggestions, either scripting or GUI. I am on Windows Server 2003. I chrooted some user, with this config: Match Group sftpusers ChrootDirectory /sftp/%u ForceCommand internal-sftp But if i want login with one of this chrooted users in ssh console, they get logged, but autoclose the connection. I have a server situation (Apache 2.2.3 CentOS PHP5.1.6) where I can't use .htaccess for performance reasons, but can use httpd.conf. The admin says that mod_rewrite is enabled, but AllowOverride is not, and I can't change those settings. And I need to restrict the permalinks to just the "blog" directory.
