  • jquery xml slideshow using ajax

    - by Codemaster Snake
    Hi all, I am trying to create a JQuery based slider using ajax to load images url from a xml file and then creating a html li list dynamically. Till now I am able to append and create DOM structure using Jquery. But I am not able to access the dynamically created list. I have also tried custom events using bind but not able to successfully implement it. Following is my jquery plugin code: (function($){ $.fn.genie = function(options) { var genie_dom = "<div class='genie_wrapper'><ul class='genie'></ul></div>"; var o, base; var genie_styles = "<style>.genie_wrapper{overflow:hidden}.genie{position: relative;margin:0;padding:0}.genie li {position: absolute;margin:0;padding:0}</style>"; var defaults = { width : '960px', height : '300px', background_color : '#000000', xml : 'genie.xml', speed : 1000, pause: 1000 }; base = $(this); o = $.extend(defaults, options); return this.each(function() { create_elements(); }); function create_elements() { $(base).html(genie_dom); $('head').append(genie_styles); $('.genie_wrapper').css({'background-color' : o.background_color, width : o.width, height: '300px', overflow: ''}); $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: o.xml, dataType: "xml", success: function(xml) { var slides = $(xml).find('slide'); var count = 0; $(slides).each(function(){ $('.genie').append('<li class="slide" id="slide'+count+'"><img src="' + $(this).text() + '" /></li>'); $('.genie li:last').css({'z-index' : count}); count++; }); } }); } } })(jQuery); In my html file: There is only one empty div to which I am calling my plugin like $(document).ready(function() { $('.slideshow').genie(); }); I have also tried using following everywhere in JS: $(".slide").bind("start_animation", function(e){ $(this).fadeOut(1000); alert($(this).html()); }); $(".slide").trigger("start_animation"); I want to animate li list using animate function, Can anyone please tell me how to implement it... It would be of great help... Regards, Neeraj Kumar EDIT: Can Anyone help me out please????

  • PHP, what is the better choice for removing a known string?

    - by Brook Julias
    I am looking to search for and replace a known string from within another string. Should I use str_replace() or ereg_replace()? The string to be replaced would be something similar to [+qStr+], [+bqID+], or [+aID+] and it would be being searched for in a code chunk similar to this: <li> [+qStr+] <ol class="mcAlpha"> <li><input type="radio" name="[+bqID+]" id="[+bqID+]_[+aID+]" value="[+aID+]" /><label for="[+bqID+]_[+aID+]">[+aStr+]</label></li> </ol> </li> I would be replacing the strings with the results from a MySQL query, and be performing this action or similar up to 200 times at a time. Which function str_replace() or ereg_replace() would be the easiest and/or quickest method to take.

So when I GM_log li value as a string , instead of HTML object, I am getting [object XrayWrapper [object HTMLLIElement]]. How can I convert it or how I can access its related elements and value ? $("#result-set li").each(function(index) { var $currentLi = $(this); var $class1link = $currentLi.find("class1"); var $class1href = $class1link.attr("href"); }

  • JSoup - Select only one listobject

    - by Zyril
    I'm trying to extract some certain data from a website using JSoup and Java. So far I've been successful in what I'm trying to achieve. <ul class="beverageFacts"> <li><span>Årgång</span><strong>**2009**&nbsp;</strong></li> I want to extract what is inside the ** in the above HTML. I can do this by using the code that follows in JSoup: doc.select("ul.beverageFacts li:lt(1) strong"); I'm using the lt(1) because there are several more list items following that I want to omit. Now to my problem; there's an optional information tab on the site I'm extracting data from, and it also has a class called "beverageFacts". My code will at the moment extract that data too, which I don't want it to do. The code is further down in the source of the website, and I've tried to use the indexer :lt(1) here aswell, but it wont work. <div id="beverageMoreFacts" style="display: block"> <ul class="beverageFacts"><li class="half"> <span> Färg</span><strong> Ljusgul färg.</strong> My overall result is that I extract "2009 Ljusgul färg." instead of only "2009". How can I write my code so it will only extract the first part, which it succesfully does, and omits the rest? EDIT: I get the same result using: doc.select("ul.beverageFacts li:eq(0) strong"); Thanks, Z

  • JQuery set img src depending on where you click

    - by Anna
    Hello ! I used javascript for loading a picture on my website depending on which "small" photos in ul you clicked... I had something like that : <script type="text/javascript"> function viewImage(src, legende) { document.getElementById("imageBig").src = "images/photos/"+src; document.getElementById("legend").innerHTML = legende; } </script> and in html simply : things like that : <li><a href="#centre" onclick="javascript:viewImage('flute.jpg','La Reine de la Nuit au Comedia')"><img src="images/photos/carre-09.jpg" alt="" /></a> <a href="#centre" onclick="javascript:viewImage('perichole.jpg','Manuelita - <em>La P&eacute;richole</em> &agrave; l&#8217;Op&eacute;ra Comique')"><img src="images/photos/carre-03.jpg" alt="" /></a></li> <li><a href="#centre" onclick="javascript:viewImage('12.png','R&eacute;cital &agrave; Carnac, septembre 2008')"><img src="images/photos/carre-12.jpg" alt="Marion Baglan Carnac R&eacute;" /></a> <a href="#centre" onclick="javascript:viewImage('01.jpg','')"><img src="images/photos/carre-01.jpg" alt="" /></a></li> so you see, I could, depending on which small photos in the unordered list you clicked, load some particular photos, by passing the src string in argument... but I decided to use Jquery to get some fade-in effect. But I can't find a way to pass an argument that would tell my JQuery function which photo to load depending on where I clicked... stuck here : $(document).ready(function(){ $('#ulPhotos').click(function() { var newSrc= $('#imageBig').attr("src", "images/photos/11.jpg"); }); }); I don't want the 11.jpg to be hardcoded, I need to pass it through argument when I click on a special li element in my ul element of id #ulPhotos... I hope I'm clear enough sorry !

  • What's wrong with this code? Values not saved to db

    - by Scott B
    Been trying to get this code to work for several days now to no avail. I'm at wits end. I've managed, with the code below, to create a customized category picker widget that appears on the PAGE editor. However, for the life of me, I cannot get the checked categories to save. function my_post_options_box() { if ( function_exists('add_meta_box') ) { //add_meta_box( $id, $title, $callback, $page, $context, $priority ); add_meta_box('categorydiv', __('Page Options'), 'post_categories_meta_box_modified', 'page', 'side', 'core'); } } //adds the custom categories box function post_categories_meta_box_modified($post) { $noindexCat = get_cat_ID('noindex'); $nofollowCat = get_cat_ID('nofollow'); if(in_category("noindex")){ $noindexChecked = " checked='checked'";} else {$noindexChecked = "";} if(in_category("nofollow")){ $nofollowChecked = " checked='checked'";} else {$noindexChecked = "";} ?> <div id="categories-all" class="ui-tabs-panel"> <ul id="categorychecklist" class="list:category categorychecklist form-no-clear"> <li id='category-<?php echo $noindexCat ?>' class="popular-category"><label class="selectit"><input value="<?php echo $noindexCat ?>" type="checkbox" name="post_category[]" id="in-category-<?php echo $noindexCat ?>"<?php echo $noindexChecked ?> /> noindex</label></li> <li id='category-<?php echo $nofollowCat ?>' class="popular-category"><label class="selectit"><input value="<?php echo $noindexCat ?>" type="checkbox" name="post_category[]" id="in-category-<?php echo $nofollowCat ?>"<?php echo $nofollowChecked ?> /> nofollow</label></li> <li id='category-1' class="popular-category"><label class="selectit"><input value="1" type="checkbox" name="post_category[]" id="in-category-1" checked="checked"/> Uncategorized</label></li> </ul> </div> <?php }

  • Class not overwriting with addClass

    - by scatteredbomb
    I'm using jQuery's addClass to add a class to an tab so when clicked it'll change the class so it's obvious the tab is highlighted. My HTML <div id="mainNav"> <ul> <li id="LinktheBand" onclick="nav('theBand')">The Band</li> <li id="linkTheMusic" onclick="nav('theMusic')">The Music</li> My CSS #mainNav li { float:left; margin-right:5px; color:white; font-family:Tahoma; font-weight:bold; padding: 10px 8px 0px 8px; background:url('../images/transparent-65.png'); height:40px; height: 25px !important; border:1px solid #000; } #mainNav li:hover { float:left; margin-right:5px; color:white; font-family:Tahoma; font-weight:bold; padding: 10px 8px 0px 8px; background: #660000; height:40px; height: 25px !important; border:1px solid #660000; } .mainNavSelected { float:left; margin-right:5px; color:white; font-family:Tahoma; font-weight:bold; padding: 10px 8px 0px 8px; background: #660000; height:40px; height: 25px !important; border:1px solid #660000; } My Javascript function nav(a) { $('#'+a).show(); $('#Link'+a).addClass('mainNavSelected'); } This works properly, I check firebug and can see the class="mainNavSelected" is added, but the list element doesn't take any properties of the new class. Firebug lists all the class items for mainNavSelected, but has them all crossed out. What am i missing to replace the class of this element?

  • Multiple checkbox values search javascript

    - by JV10
    I have a list of keywords, and I've created a checkbox for each. My template has a form wrapping the content, so I can't have a nested form around the checkbox list. How can I send the selected checkbox values to my search results page? The form that wraps the content doesn't have any actions or methods applied: <form id="BoostMasterForm" runat="server"> This the HTML markup of my checkbox list: <div class="checkboxes"> <ul> <li> <input type="checkbox" name="search" class="options" value="one"> <label>one</label> </li> <li> <input type="checkbox" name="search" class="options" value="two"> <label>two</label> </li> <li> <input type="checkbox" name="search" class="options" value="three"> <label>three</label> </li> </ul> <input type="submit" value="Submit"/> </div> How can I use javascript or jQuery to submit the values of the multiple checkbox selections and on submit action them to the following URL: '/imagery/image-search.aspx' The resulting URL for a search where option 1 and 3 are submitted should be: '/imagery/image-search.aspx?search=one%20three' I'm using this javascript that I found on another post, however I need it to append the form an the action and the method. My website is ASP, where this post is for a PHP site: Sending multiple checkbox options $('.options').click(function() { var selectedItems = new Array(); $(".checkboxes input:checkbox[name=search]:checked").each(function() {selectedItems.push($(this).val());}); var data = selectedItems.join('|'); $("#opts").val(data); }); If anyone can help, it'd be greatly appreciated. • jQuery: one-liner for removing all children but one

    - by user1352530
    HTML code is: <li> <a href="#" /> <ul> <li> <a href="#"/> </li> </ul> </li> I want to delete any node under $(this) = li that is not a link. If there are more than one link, just the first one is saved, and if there are links inside the ul tag, they are not included because they are descendants and no childrens. Something like this (I am cloning and outputting html): $(this).clone().remove('not(a:first)').html(); //Assuming remove looks for "a" as a first child Does not work, so I try with this: $(this).clone().children().remove('not(a:first)').parent().html(); Does not work so I try with this: $(this).clone().remove('not(>a:first)').html(); I need the original element as a reference after removal for chaining more operations EDIT: Ok! Second one works with a little syntax correction as some appointed (:not( instead of not() but I would like to know if there is any other solution similar to the third line so I don't have to do children().remove().parent(). Thank you!

    I have this code, that checks some ids and enable others, the javascript is pretty clear about what it does, but since it corresponds to some specific id ranges, I cant do just a look until it finishes, but I'm looking a way to do this dynamic and save 40 lines of code (or more), since its not the best way. function loopGroup1() { var a = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-3_' + a).each(function(chk1) { // watch for clicks chk1.observe('click', function(evt) { dynamicCheckbox1(); }); dynamicCheckbox1(); }); a++; } while (a < 4); } function dynamicCheckbox1() { // count how many of group_first are checked, // doEnable true if any are checked var doEnable = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-3_0:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; var doEnable1 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-3_1:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; var doEnable2 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-3_2:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; // for each in group_second, enable the checkbox, and // remove the cssDisabled class from the parent label var i = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-4_' + i).each(function(item) { if (doEnable || doEnable1 || doEnable2) { item.enable().up('li').removeClassName('cssDisabled'); } else { item.disable().up('li').addClassName('cssDisabled'); } }); i++; } while (i < 4); }; /* * * Loop Group 2 * * */ function loopGroup2() { var a = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-5_' + a).each(function(chk1) { // watch for clicks chk1.observe('click', function(evt) { dynamicCheckbox2(); }); dynamicCheckbox2(); }); a++; } while (a < 4); } function dynamicCheckbox2() { // count how many of group_first are checked, // doEnable true if any are checked var doEnable3 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-5_0:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; // for each in group_second, enable the checkbox, and // remove the cssDisabled class from the parent label var i = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-6_' + i).each(function(item) { if (doEnable3) { item.enable().up('li').removeClassName('cssDisabled'); } else { item.disable().up('li').addClassName('cssDisabled'); } }); i++; } while (i < 4); }; /* * * Loop Group 3 * * */ function loopGroup3() { var a = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-6_' + a).each(function(chk1) { // watch for clicks chk1.observe('click', function(evt) { dynamicCheckbox3(); }); dynamicCheckbox3(); }); a++; } while (a < 4); } function dynamicCheckbox3() { // count how many of group_first are checked, // doEnable true if any are checked var doEnable4 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-6_0:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; var doEnable5 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-6_1:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; // for each in group_second, enable the checkbox, and // remove the cssDisabled class from the parent label var i = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-7_' + i).each(function(item) { if (doEnable4 || doEnable5) { item.enable().up('li').removeClassName('cssDisabled'); } else { item.disable().up('li').addClassName('cssDisabled'); } }); i++; } while (i < 4); }; /* * * Loop Group 4 * * */ function loopGroup4() { var a = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-9_' + a).each(function(chk1) { // watch for clicks chk1.observe('click', function(evt) { dynamicCheckbox4(); }); dynamicCheckbox4(); }); a++; } while (a < 4); } function dynamicCheckbox4() { // count how many of group_first are checked, // doEnable true if any are checked var doEnable6 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-9_0:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; var doEnable7 = ($$('.selectedAuthorities-9_1:checked').length > 0) ? true : false; // for each in group_second, enable the checkbox, and // remove the cssDisabled class from the parent label var i = 0; do { $$('.selectedAuthorities-10_' + i).each(function(item) { if (doEnable6 || doEnable7) { item.enable().up('li').removeClassName('cssDisabled'); } else { item.disable().up('li').addClassName('cssDisabled'); } }); i++; } while (i < 4); };

  • How do I remove elements from a jQuery wrapped set

    - by Bungle
    I'm a little confused about which jQuery method and/or selectors to use when trying to select an element, and then remove certain descendant elements from the wrapped set. For example, given the following HTML: <div id="article"> <div id="inset"> <ul> <li>This is bullet point #1.</li> <li>This is bullet point #2.</li> <li>This is bullet point #3.</li> </ul> </div> <p>This is the first paragraph of the article</p> <p>This is the second paragraph of the article</p> <p>This is the third paragraph of the article</p> </div> I want to select the article: var $article = $('#article'); but then remove <div id="inset"></div> and its descendants from the wrapped set. I tried the following: var $article = $('#article').not('#inset'); but that didn't work, and in retrospect, I think I can see why. I also tried using remove() unsuccessfully. What would be the correct way to do this? Ultimately, I need to set this up in such a way that I can define a configuration array, such as: var selectors = [ { select: '#article', exclude: ['#inset'] } ]; where select defines a single element that contains text content, and exclude is an optional array that defines one or more selectors to disregard text content from. Given the final wrapped set with the excluded elements removed, I would like to be able to call jQuery's text() method to end up with the following text: This is the first paragraph of the article.This is the second paragraph of the article.This is the third paragraph of the article. The configuration array doesn't need to work exactly like that, but it should provide roughly equivalent configuration potential. Thanks for any help you can provide!

  • Rails editing multiple records at once

    - by Joseph Silvashy
    I feel like this might be really simple but I'm just not getting it right, so I have like a settings page in my app and I want each setting to be like a key value store, for example: +-------------------+--------------------------------+ | setting | value | +-------------------+--------------------------------+ | twitter_username | something | +-------------------+--------------------------------+ | facebook_url | http://facebook.com/someguy | +-------------------+--------------------------------+ My form looks something like this: <% form_tag set_admin_settings_path, :method => :put do %> <ol> <% for setting in @settings %> <li class="field"> <label><%= setting.setting_name.humanize %></label> <%= text_field_tag "[setting_value][]", setting.setting_value %> </li> <% end %> <li class="submit"> <%= submit_tag "Update settings" %> </li> </ol> <% end %> Everything renders fine but when I try to save the form, nothing is saved :(

  • is it possible to make a child element visible if the parent is hidden

    - by amir
    Hi just wondering if its possible to have a hidden parent and a visible child with css or jQuery, basically on some certain pages I'm trying to make a child element visible even though the parents are hidden, var bodyClass = jQuery('body').attr('class'); //alert (bodyClass); var searchTerm = 'category-mens'; var searchTerm2 = 'category-ladies'; if((bodyClass.search(searchTerm) || bodyClass.search(searchTerm2)) != -1) { jQuery('.nav-container ul.level0 li.level1 ul.level1 li.level2 ul.level2 li.first a span').css({ 'display':'block', 'position':'absolute', 'top':'500px', 'left':'500px' }); } at the moment it doesn't work because the li.level2 is hidden. Thanks for the help.
