  • Memory leak found with clang but cant release and autorelease crashes

    - by Rudiger
    I have a class that builds a request based on a few passed in variables. The class also has all the delegate methods to receive the data and stores it in a property for the calling class to retrieve. When the class initializes it creates a connection and then returns itself: NSURLConnection *connection; if (self = [super init]) { self.delegate = theDelegate; ...some code here... connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:theRequest delegate:self startImmediately:YES]; } return self; So I can't release it normally and if I autorelease it crashes. Is it the job of the calling class to release? And if so does just releasing the initilised object also release connection or do you have to release it specifically? If so how would you? Thanks

  • CUDA: Memory copy to GPU 1 is slower in multi-GPU

    - by zenna
    My company has a setup of two GTX 295, so a total of 4 GPUs in a server, and we have several servers. We GPU 1 specifically was slow, in comparison to GPU 0, 2 and 3 so I wrote a little speed test to help find the cause of the problem. //#include <stdio.h> //#include <stdlib.h> //#include <cuda_runtime.h> #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <sstream> #include <string> #include <cutil.h> __global__ void test_kernel(float *d_data) { int tid = blockDim.x*blockIdx.x + threadIdx.x; for (int i=0;i<10000;++i) { d_data[tid] = float(i*2.2); d_data[tid] += 3.3; } } int main(int argc, char* argv[]) { int deviceCount; cudaGetDeviceCount(&deviceCount); int device = 0; //SELECT GPU HERE cudaSetDevice(device); cudaEvent_t start, stop; unsigned int num_vals = 200000000; float *h_data = new float[num_vals]; for (int i=0;i<num_vals;++i) { h_data[i] = float(i); } float *d_data = NULL; float malloc_timer; cudaEventCreate(&start); cudaEventCreate(&stop); cudaEventRecord( start, 0 ); cudaMemcpy(d_data, h_data, sizeof(float)*num_vals,cudaMemcpyHostToDevice); cudaMalloc((void**)&d_data, sizeof(float)*num_vals); cudaEventRecord( stop, 0 ); cudaEventSynchronize( stop ); cudaEventElapsedTime( &malloc_timer, start, stop ); cudaEventDestroy( start ); cudaEventDestroy( stop ); float mem_timer; cudaEventCreate(&start); cudaEventCreate(&stop); cudaEventRecord( start, 0 ); cudaMemcpy(d_data, h_data, sizeof(float)*num_vals,cudaMemcpyHostToDevice); cudaEventRecord( stop, 0 ); cudaEventSynchronize( stop ); cudaEventElapsedTime( &mem_timer, start, stop ); cudaEventDestroy( start ); cudaEventDestroy( stop ); float kernel_timer; cudaEventCreate(&start); cudaEventCreate(&stop); cudaEventRecord( start, 0 ); test_kernel<<<1000,256>>>(d_data); cudaEventRecord( stop, 0 ); cudaEventSynchronize( stop ); cudaEventElapsedTime( &kernel_timer, start, stop ); cudaEventDestroy( start ); cudaEventDestroy( stop ); printf("cudaMalloc took %f ms\n",malloc_timer); printf("Copy to the GPU took %f ms\n",mem_timer); printf("Test Kernel took %f ms\n",kernel_timer); cudaMemcpy(h_data,d_data, sizeof(float)*num_vals,cudaMemcpyDeviceToHost); delete[] h_data; return 0; } The results are GPU0 cudaMalloc took 0.908640 ms Copy to the GPU took 296.058777 ms Test Kernel took 326.721283 ms GPU1 cudaMalloc took 0.913568 ms Copy to the GPU took[b] 663.182251 ms[/b] Test Kernel took 326.710785 ms GPU2 cudaMalloc took 0.925600 ms Copy to the GPU took 296.915039 ms Test Kernel took 327.127930 ms GPU3 cudaMalloc took 0.920416 ms Copy to the GPU took 296.968384 ms Test Kernel took 327.038696 ms As you can see, the cudaMemcpy to the GPU is well double the amount of time for GPU1. This is consistent between all our servers, it is always GPU1 that is slow. Any ideas why this may be? All servers are running windows XP.

  • Memory leak with NSData

    - by Kamchatka
    I'm having a leak with this code without being able to find where it's coming from. This function get called within an autorelease pool. I release the IplImage* image argument. When I run the ObjAlloc tool, it tells me that "NSData* data" is leaking. If I try to manually release the UIImage returned by this function, I get an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error, probably because this UIImage is autoreleased. I'm a bit confused, any hint would be appreciated. Thanks! UIImage *UIImageFromIplImage(IplImage *image) { NSLog(@"IplImage (%d, %d) %d bits by %d channels, %d bytes/row %s", image->width, image->height, image->depth, image->nChannels, image->widthStep, image->channelSeq); CGColorSpaceRef colorSpace = CGColorSpaceCreateDeviceRGB(); NSData *data = [NSData dataWithBytes:image->imageData length:image->imageSize]; CGDataProviderRef provider = CGDataProviderCreateWithCFData((CFDataRef)data); CGImageRef imageRef = CGImageCreate(image->width, image->height, image->depth, image->depth * image->nChannels, image->widthStep, colorSpace, kCGImageAlphaNone|kCGBitmapByteOrderDefault, provider, NULL, false, kCGRenderingIntentDefault); UIImage *ret = [UIImage imageWithCGImage:imageRef]; CGImageRelease(imageRef); CGDataProviderRelease(provider); CGColorSpaceRelease(colorSpace); return ret; }

  • [SOLVED] Iphone NSXMLParser NSCFString memory leak

    - by atticusalien
    I am building an app that parses an rss feed. In the app there are two different types of feeds with different names for the elements in the feed, so I have created an NSXMLParser NSObject that takes the name of the elements of each feed before parsing. Here is my code: NewsFeedParser.h #import @interface NewsFeedParser : NSObject { NSInteger NewsSelectedCategory; NSXMLParser *NSXMLNewsParser; NSMutableArray *newsCategories; NSMutableDictionary *NewsItem; NSMutableString *NewsCurrentElement, *NewsCurrentElement1, *NewsCurrentElement2, *NewsCurrentElement3; NSString *NewsItemType, *NewsElement1, *NewsElement2, *NewsElement3; NSInteger NewsNumElements; } - (void) parseXMLFileAtURL:(NSString *)URL; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *NewsItemType; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *NewsElement1; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *NewsElement2; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSString *NewsElement3; @property(nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *newsCategories; @property(assign, nonatomic) NSInteger NewsNumElements; @end NewsFeedParser.m #import "NewsFeedParser.h" @implementation NewsFeedParser @synthesize NewsItemType; @synthesize NewsElement1; @synthesize NewsElement2; @synthesize NewsElement3; @synthesize newsCategories; @synthesize NewsNumElements; - (void)parserDidStartDocument:(NSXMLParser *)parser{ } - (void)parseXMLFileAtURL:(NSString *)URL { newsCategories = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; URL = [URL stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@" " withString:@""]; URL = [URL stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@"\n" withString:@""]; URL = [URL stringByReplacingOccurrencesOfString:@" " withString:@""]; //you must then convert the path to a proper NSURL or it won't work NSURL *xmlURL = [NSURL URLWithString:URL]; // here, for some reason you have to use NSClassFromString when trying to alloc NSXMLParser, otherwise you will get an object not found error // this may be necessary only for the toolchain [[NSURLCache sharedURLCache] setMemoryCapacity:0]; [[NSURLCache sharedURLCache] setDiskCapacity:0]; NSXMLNewsParser = [[NSXMLParser alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:xmlURL]; // Set self as the delegate of the parser so that it will receive the parser delegate methods callbacks. [NSXMLNewsParser setDelegate:self]; // Depending on the XML document you're parsing, you may want to enable these features of NSXMLParser. [NSXMLNewsParser setShouldProcessNamespaces:NO]; [NSXMLNewsParser setShouldReportNamespacePrefixes:NO]; [NSXMLNewsParser setShouldResolveExternalEntities:NO]; [NSXMLNewsParser parse]; [NSXMLNewsParser release]; } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser parseErrorOccurred:(NSError *)parseError { NSString * errorString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Unable to download story feed from web site (Error code %i )", [parseError code]]; NSLog(@"error parsing XML: %@", errorString); UIAlertView * errorAlert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Error loading content" message:errorString delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"OK" otherButtonTitles:nil]; [errorAlert show]; [errorAlert release]; [errorString release]; } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser didStartElement:(NSString *)elementName namespaceURI:(NSString *)namespaceURI qualifiedName:(NSString *)qName attributes:(NSDictionary *)attributeDict{ NewsCurrentElement = [elementName copy]; if ([elementName isEqualToString:NewsItemType]) { // clear out our story item caches... [NewsItem setObject:NewsCurrentElement1 forKey:NewsElement1]; [NewsItem setObject:NewsCurrentElement2 forKey:NewsElement2]; if(NewsNumElements == 3) { [NewsItem setObject:NewsCurrentElement3 forKey:NewsElement3]; } [newsCategories addObject:[[NewsItem copy] autorelease]]; [NewsCurrentElement release]; [NewsCurrentElement1 release]; [NewsCurrentElement2 release]; if(NewsNumElements == 3) { [NewsCurrentElement3 release]; } [NewsItem release]; } } - (void)parser:(NSXMLParser *)parser foundCharacters:(NSString *)string { //NSLog(@"found characters: %@", string); // save the characters for the current item... if ([NewsCurrentElement isEqualToString:NewsElement1]) { [NewsCurrentElement1 appendString:string]; } else if ([NewsCurrentElement isEqualToString:NewsElement2]) { [NewsCurrentElement2 appendString:string]; } else if (NewsNumElements == 3 && [NewsCurrentElement isEqualToString:NewsElement3]) { [NewsCurrentElement3 appendString:string]; } } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; [newsCategories release]; [NewsItemType release]; [NewsElement1 release]; [NewsElement2 release]; [NewsElement3 release]; } When I create an instance of the class I do like so: NewsFeedParser *categoriesParser = [[NewsFeedParser alloc] init]; if(newsCat == 0) { categoriesParser.NewsItemType = @"article"; categoriesParser.NewsElement1 = @"category"; categoriesParser.NewsElement2 = @"catid"; } else { categoriesParser.NewsItemType = @"article"; categoriesParser.NewsElement1 = @"category"; categoriesParser.NewsElement2 = @"feedUrl"; } [categoriesParser parseXMLFileAtURL:feedUrl]; newsCategories = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:categoriesParser.newsCategories copyItems:YES]; [self.tableView reloadData]; [categoriesParser release]; If I run the app with the leaks instrument, the leaks point to the [NSXMLNewsParser parse] call in the NewsFeedParser.m. Here is a screen shot of the Leaks instrument with the NSCFStrings leaking: http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/3997/leaks.png For the life of me I can't figure out where these leaks are coming from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Malloc corrupting already malloc'd memory in C

    - by Kyte
    I'm currently helping a friend debug a program of his, which includes linked lists. His list structure is pretty simple: typedef struct nodo{ int cantUnos; char* numBin; struct nodo* sig; }Nodo; We've got the following code snippet: void insNodo(Nodo** lista, char* auxBin, int auxCantUnos){ printf("*******Insertando\n"); int i; if (*lista) printf("DecInt*%p->%p\n", *lista, (*lista)->sig); Nodo* insert = (Nodo*)malloc(sizeof(Nodo*)); if (*lista) printf("Malloc*%p->%p\n", *lista, (*lista)->sig); insert->cantUnos = auxCantUnos; insert->numBin = (char*)malloc(strlen(auxBin)*sizeof(char)); for(i=0 ; i<strlen(auxBin) ; i++) insert->numBin[i] = auxBin[i]; insert-numBin[i] = '\0'; insert-sig = NULL; Nodo* aux; [etc] (The lines with extra indentation were my addition for debug purposes) This yields me the following: *******Insertando DecInt*00341098->00000000 Malloc*00341098->2832B6EE (*lista)-sig is previously and deliberately set as NULL, which checks out until here, and fixed a potential buffer overflow (he'd forgotten to copy the NULL-terminator in insert-numBin). I can't think of a single reason why'd that happen, nor I've got any idea on what else should I provide as further info. (Compiling on latest stable MinGW under fully-patched Windows 7, friend's using MinGW under Windows XP. On my machine, at least, in only happens when GDB's not attached.) Any ideas? Suggestions? Possible exorcism techniques? (Current hack is copying the sig pointer to a temp variable and restore it after malloc. It breaks anyways. Turns out the 2nd malloc corrupts it too. Interestingly enough, it resets sig to the exact same value as the first one).

  • Objective C selector memory managment (does this leak memory)?

    - by James Jones
    - (IBAction) someButtonCall { if(!someCondition) { someButtonCallBack = @selector(someButtonCall); [self presentModalViewController:someController animated:YES]; } else ... } //Called from someController - (void) someControllerFinished:(BOOL) ok { [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; if(ok) [self performSelector:someButtonCallBack]; else ... } I'm wondering if the user keeps getting into the !someCondition clause if the selector is leaked by assigning a new selector each time (the code above is hypothetical and not what i'm doing). Any help is appreciated. Thanks, James Jones

  • Oracle T4CPreparedStatement memory leaks?

    - by Jay
    A little background on the application that I am gonna talk about in the next few lines: XYZ is a data masking workbench eclipse RCP application: You give it a source table column, and a target table column, it would apply a trasformation (encryption/shuffling/etc) and copy the row data from source table to target table. Now, when I mask n tables at a time, n threads are launched by this app. Here is the issue: I have run into a production issue on first roll out of the above said app. Unfortunately, I don't have any logs to get to the root. However, I tried to run this app in test region and do a stress test. When I collected .hprof files and ran 'em through an analyzer (yourKit), I noticed that objects of oracle.jdbc.driver.T4CPreparedStatement was retaining heap. The analysis also tells me that one of my classes is holding a reference to this preparedstatement object and thereby, n threads have n such objects. T4CPreparedStatement seemed to have character arrays: lastBoundChars and bindChars each of size char[300000]. So, I researched a bit (google!), obtained ojdbc6.jar and tried decompiling T4CPreparedStatement. I see that T4CPreparedStatement extends OraclePreparedStatement, which dynamically manages array size of lastBoundChars and bindChars. So, my questions here are: Have you ever run into an issue like this? Do you know the significance of lastBoundChars / bindChars? I am new to profiling, so do you think I am not doing it correct? (I also ran the hprofs through MAT - and this was the main identified issue - so, I don't really think I could be wrong?) I have found something similar on the web here: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=2860681 Appreciate your suggestions / advice.

  • JVM memory initializazion error after windows update

    - by Pier Luigi
    Hi all, I have three Windows Server 2003 with 2 GB RAM. Server1 tomcat 5.5.25 jvm version SUN 1.6.0_11-b03 Server2 tomcat 5.5.25 jvm version SUN 1.6.0_14-b08 Server3 tomcat 6.0.18 jvm version SUN 1.6.0_14-b08 For the three servers JVM parameters are: -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Dcatalina.base=C:\Apache Group\apache-tomcat-5.5.25 -Dcatalina.home=C:\Apache Group\apache-tomcat-5.5.25 -Djava.endorsed.dirs=C:\Apache Group\apache-tomcat-5.5.25\common\endorsed -Djava.io.tmpdir=C:\Apache Group\apache-tomcat-5.5.25\temp vfprintf -Xms512m -Xmx1024m For some months everithing worked fine. Last friday we installed some windows updates. After the reboot tomcat doesn't start anymore, with error: Error occurred during initialization of VM Could not reserve enough space for object heap We reduced the parameter -Xmx1024m to -Xmx768m and now tomcat starts. But we need greater max heap size What happened to our servers ? Thanks in advance.

  • iphone - memory leaks in separate thread

    I create a second thread to call a method that downloads several images using: [NSThread detachNewThreadSelector:@selector(downloadImages) toTarget:self withObject:nil]; It works fine but I get a long list of leaks in the log similar to: 2010-04-18 00:48:12.287 FS Companion[11074:650f] * _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0xbec2640 of class NSCFString autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking Stack: (0xa58af 0xdb452 0x5e973 0x5e770 0x11d029 0x517fa 0x51708 0x85f2 0x3047d 0x30004 0x99481fbd 0x99481e42) 2010-04-18 00:48:12.288 FS Companion[11074:650f] * _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0xbe01510 of class NSCFString autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking Stack: (0xa58af 0xdb452 0x5e7a6 0x11d029 0x517fa 0x51708 0x85f2 0x3047d 0x30004 0x99481fbd 0x99481e42) 2010-04-18 00:48:12.289 FS Companion[11074:650f] * _NSAutoreleaseNoPool(): Object 0xbde6720 of class NSCFString autoreleased with no pool in place - just leaking Stack: (0xa58af 0xdb452 0x5ea73 0x5e7c2 0x11d029 0x517fa 0x51708 0x85f2 0x3047d 0x30004 0x99481fbd 0x99481e42) Can someone help me understand the problem?

  • Memory leak using (void) alloc

    - by Rudiger
    I have seen a similar line of code floating about in Apples code: (void)[[URLRequest alloc] initializeRequestWithValues:postBody url:verifySession httpHeader:nil delegate:self]; URLRequest is my own custom class. I didn't write this and I think the guy that did just grabbed it from Apple's example. To me this should leak and when I test it I'm pretty sure it leaks 16 bytes. Would it? I know how to fix it if it does but wasn't sure as it was taken from Apple's code.

  • NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS (OBJ-C/iPhone)

    - by Michael Bordelon
    I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple days and need some help. I have a feeling that I am doing something really silly here, but I cannot find the issue. This is the controller for a table view. I put the SQL in line to simplify it as part of the troubleshooting of this error. Normally, it would be in an accessor method in a model class. It gets through the SQL read just fine. Finds the two objects, loads them into the todaysWorkout array and then builds the cells for the table view. The table view actually comes up on the scree and then it throws the EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I ran instruments and it shows the following: 0 CFString Malloc 1 00:03.765 0x3946470 176 Foundation -[NSPlaceholderString initWithFormat:locale:arguments:] 1 CFString Autorelease 00:03.765 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSRecordAllocationEvent 2 CFString CFRelease 0 00:03.767 0x3946470 0 Bring It -[WorkoutViewController viewDidLoad] 3 CFString Zombie -1 00:03.917 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSPopAutoreleasePool Here is the source code for the controller. I left it all in there just in case there is something extraneous causing the problem. I have a 2D dynamic array. I enter a line of 0's after line which has a biggest number: void InsertZero(int **a, int pos){ int i, j; a = (int**)realloc(a, n * sizeof(*a)); a[n-1] = (int*)calloc(n, sizeof(**a)); d = 0; for(i = n-1; i > pos; i--){ for(j = 0; j < n; j++){ a[i][j] = a[i-1][j]; printf("%d ", a[i][j]); } } for(i = 0; i < n; i++){ a[pos][i] = 0; } } If i make a size of array 3, 5, 7, 9, ... it works correctly. But if a number of lines is 2, 4, 6, ... , it is an access violation error, when i try to print my array: void Print(void){ int i, j; for(i = 0; i < (n-d); i++){ for(j = 0; j < n; j++){ printf("%d\t", arr[i][j]); } printf("\n"); } } code: http://codepad.org/JcUis6W4

  • Memory cleanup on returned array from static method (objective-c)

    - by Michael Bordelon
    In objective-c, I have a utility class with a bunch of static methods that I call for various tasks. As an example, I have one method that returns an NSArray that I allocate in the static method. If I set the NSArray to autorelease, then some time later, the NSArray in my calling method (that is assigned to the returned pointer) losses it's reference because the original form the static method is cleaned up. I can't release the NSArray object in the static method because it needs to be around for the return and assignment. What is the right way to return an object (like the NSArray) from a static class, and have it hang around for the calling class, but then get cleaned up later when it is no longer needed? Do I have to create the object first in the caller and pass in a pointer to the object and then return that same object form the static method? I know this is a basic O-O problem, I just never had this issue in Java and I do not do much C/C++. Thanks for your help.

  • Spreadsheet::WriteExcel Memory Usage

    - by Stomped
    Hi; I'm trying to create a multi-sheet excel document, and thus far I'd been doing it in PHP - but using PHPExcel was eating up 70MB of RAM for about 60,000 spreadsheet cells total. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with Spreadsheet::WriteExcel and if it has problems with creating very large documents. I'd just give it a shot but I'm very inexperienced with Perl and it could take me quite a bit of time to get this up and rolling even if for a test, and I thought someone here might have insight for me.

  • C++ stack memory still valid?

    - by jbu
    Hi all, If I create an object on the stack and push it into a list, then the object loses scope (outside of the for loop in the example below) will the object still exist in the list? If the list still holds the object, is that data now invalid/possibly corrupt? Please let me know, and please explain the reasoning.. Thanks, jbu class SomeObject{ public: AnotherObject x; } //And then... void someMethod() { std::list<SomeObject> my_list; for(int i = 0; i < SOME_NUMBER; i++) { SomeObject tmp; my_list.push_back(tmp); //after the for loop iteration, tmp loses scope } my_list.front(); //at this point will my_list be full of valid SomeObjects or will the SomeObjects no longer be valid, even if they still point to dirty data }

  • NSMutableDictionary memory / address problem, release does not work?

    - by phil
    I am trying to create a NSMutableDictionary(dictA) with objectA. When I try to view my dictionary(NSLog), each key is pointing to the same address. I have an objectA_1 which is type objectA and used to setup the dictionary. Also, if I try to getObject, I always get the last key/value that was added to the dictionary. I tried setValue and got the same results. Is there something wrong with my objectA? Is the release method not working properly? Am I retaining when I shouldn't? Thank you. dictA = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; objectA *objectA = [[objectA alloc] init]; [dictA setObject:objectA_1 forKey:@"apple"]; [objectA_1 release]; [dictA setObject:objectA_1 forKey:@"japan"]; [objectA_1 release]; [dictA setObject:objectA_1 forKey:@"paris"]; [objectA_1 release]; [dictA setObject:objectA_1 forKey:@"pizza"]; [objectA_1 release]; //NSlog: apple = ""; japan = ""; paris = ""; pizza = "";

  • UINavigationController and memory management

    - by Dan Ray
    - (void)launchSearch { EventsSearchViewController *searchController = [[EventsSearchViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"EventsSearchView" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:searchController animated:YES]; //[searchController release]; } Notice the [searchController release] is commented out. I've understood that pushing searchController onto the navigation controller retains it, and I should release it from my code. I did just alloc/init it, after all, and if I don't free it, it'll leak. With that line commented out, navigation works great. With it NOT commented out, I can navigate INTO this view okay, but coming back UP a level crashes with a *** -[CFArray release]: message sent to deallocated instance 0x443a9e0 error. What's happening here? Is the NavigationController releasing it for me somehow when it goes out of view? The boilerplate that comes on a UINavigationController template in XCode has the newly-pushed controller getting released. But when I do it, it fails.

  • NOOB Memory Problem - EXC_BAD_ACCESS

    - by Michael Bordelon
    I have been banging my head against the wall for a couple days and need some help. I have a feeling that I am doing something really silly here, but I cannot find the issue. This is the controller for a table view. I put the SQL in line to simplify it as part of the troubleshooting of this error. Normally, it would be in an accessor method in a model class. It gets through the SQL read just fine. Finds the two objects, loads them into the todaysWorkout array and then builds the cells for the table view. The table view actually comes up on the scree and then it throws the EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I ran instruments and it shows the following: 0 CFString Malloc 1 00:03.765 0x3946470 176 Foundation -[NSPlaceholderString initWithFormat:locale:arguments:] 1 CFString Autorelease 00:03.765 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSRecordAllocationEvent 2 CFString CFRelease 0 00:03.767 0x3946470 0 Bring It -[WorkoutViewController viewDidLoad] 3 CFString Zombie -1 00:03.917 0x3946470 0 Foundation NSPopAutoreleasePool Here is the source code for the controller. I left it all in there just in case there is something extraneous causing the problem. I sincerely appreciate any help I can get: #import "WorkoutViewController.h" #import "MoveListViewController.h" #import "Profile.h" static sqlite3 *database = nil; @implementation WorkoutViewController @synthesize todaysWorkouts; @synthesize woNoteCell; @synthesize bi; //@synthesize woSwitchCell; - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; bi = [[BIUtility alloc] init]; todaysWorkouts = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; NSString *query; sqlite3_stmt *statement; //open the database if (sqlite3_open([[BIUtility getDBPath] UTF8String], &database) != SQLITE_OK) { sqlite3_close(database); NSAssert(0, @"Failed to opendatabase"); } query = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"SELECT IWORKOUT.WOINSTANCEID, IWORKOUT.WORKOUTID, CWORKOUTS.WORKOUTNAME FROM CWORKOUTS JOIN IWORKOUT ON IWORKOUT.WORKOUTID = CWORKOUTS.WORKOUTID AND DATE = '%@'", [BIUtility todayDateString]]; if (sqlite3_prepare_v2(database, [query UTF8String], -1, &statement, nil) == SQLITE_OK) { while (sqlite3_step(statement) == SQLITE_ROW) { Workout *wo = [[Workout alloc] init]; wo.woInstanceID = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 0); wo.workoutID = sqlite3_column_int(statement, 1); wo.workoutName = [NSString stringWithUTF8String:(char *)sqlite3_column_text(statement, 2)]; [todaysWorkouts addObject:wo]; [wo release]; } sqlite3_finalize(statement); } if(database) sqlite3_close(database); [query release]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { //todaysWorkouts = [BIUtility todaysScheduledWorkouts]; static NSString *noteCellIdentifier = @"NoteCellIdentifier"; UITableViewCell *cell; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:@"OtherCell"]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero reuseIdentifier: @"OtherCell"] autorelease]; cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; } if (indexPath.row == 0) { Workout *wo = [todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section]; [cell.textLabel setText:wo.workoutName]; } else { [cell.textLabel setText:@"Completed?"]; [cell.textLabel setFont:[UIFont fontWithName:@"Arial" size:15]]; [cell.textLabel setTextColor:[UIColor blueColor]]; } } else { cell = (NoteCell *)[tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:noteCellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { NSArray *nib = [[NSBundle mainBundle] loadNibNamed:@"NoteCell" owner:self options:nil]; cell = [nib objectAtIndex:0]; } } return cell; //[cell release]; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSUInteger row = [indexPath row]; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count]) && (row == 0)) { MoveListViewController *moveListController = [[MoveListViewController alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewStylePlain]; moveListController.workoutID = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutID]; moveListController.workoutName = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutName]; moveListController.woInstanceID = [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] woInstanceID]; NSLog(@"Workout Selected: %@", [[todaysWorkouts objectAtIndex:indexPath.section] workoutName]); Bring_ItAppDelegate *delegate = [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [delegate.workoutNavController pushViewController:moveListController animated:YES]; } else { UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:indexPath]; if (indexPath.section < ([todaysWorkouts count]) && (row == 1)) { if (cell.accessoryType == UITableViewCellAccessoryNone) { cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryCheckmark; } else { cell.accessoryType = UITableViewCellAccessoryNone; } } } [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; } - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSInteger h = 35; return h; } - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return ([todaysWorkouts count] + 1); //return ([todaysWorkouts count]); } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { return 2; } else { return 1; } } - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { if (section < ([todaysWorkouts count])) { return @"Workout"; } else { return @"How Was Your Workout?"; } } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview.   • Obj-C memory management: why doesn't this work?

    - by igul222
    Why doesn't the following code work? MyViewController *viewController = [[MyViewController alloc] init]; [myWindow addSubview:viewController.view]; [viewController release]; As I understand, myWindow should be retaining viewController.view for as long as the window needs it. So why does this cause my app to crash on launch? (commenting out the last line fixes the problem, as expected)

  • ruby memory leak Gdk::PixbufLoader

    - by Reed Debaets
    So I'm beginning to wonder how leaky the gnome2 libraries for ruby1.8.6 are. #!/usr/bin/env ruby require 'gtk2' while true sleep 0.1 pixbuf = Gdk::PixbufLoader.new pixbuf = nil end this leaks about 16kb/sec according to watch -n 1 ps -o rss -p <process id> This is compounded if you start trying to write a chunk of large chunks of image data to it using pixbuf.last_write img_data Any ideas how to get around this (and the second issue)? I need to update image data within my code but it seems like anything that ends up using a pixbuf leaks like a sieve.
