  • Declaring a function inside a function?

    - by nunos
    I have came across the following code, and being a c beginner, I came here for your help. This function is from a c implmentation of a queue. Bool queuePut(Queue *q, char c) { void beep(); if (queueFull(q)) { beep(); return false; } //do stuff return true; } So, I am getting a strange error with gcc on the void beep(). Can someone please explain me what is this, declaring a function inside a function. Or is it the void beep() simply out of place? I was given this code and there's always the possibility that it isn't correct. Thanks.

  • closing MQ connection

    - by OakvilleWork
    Good afternoon, I wrote a project to Get Park Queue Info from the IBM MQ, it has producing an error when attempting to close the connection though. It is written in java. Under application in Event Viewer on the MQ machine it displays two errors. They are: “Channel program ended abnormally. Channel program ‘system.def.surconn’ ended abnormally. Look at previous error messages for channel program ‘system.def.surconn’ in the error files to determine the cause of the failure. The other message states: “Error on receive from host rnanaj (10.10.12.34) An error occurred receiving data from rnanaj (10.10.12.34) over tcp/ip. This may be due to a communications failure. The return code from tcp/ip recv() call was 10054 (X’2746’). Record these values.” This must be something how I try to connect or close the connection, below I have my code to connect and close, any ideas?? Connect: _logger.info("Start"); File outputFile = new File(System.getProperty("PROJECT_HOME"), "run/" + this.getClass().getSimpleName() + "." + System.getProperty("qmgr") + ".txt"); FileUtils.mkdirs(outputFile.getParentFile()); Connection jmsConn = null; Session jmsSession = null; QueueBrowser queueBrowser = null; BufferedWriter commandsBw = null; try { // get queue connection MQConnectionFactory MQConn = new MQConnectionFactory(); MQConn.setHostName(System.getProperty("host")); MQConn.setPort(Integer.valueOf(System.getProperty("port"))); MQConn.setQueueManager(System.getProperty("qmgr")); MQConn.setChannel("SYSTEM.DEF.SVRCONN"); MQConn.setTransportType(JMSC.MQJMS_TP_CLIENT_MQ_TCPIP); jmsConn = (Connection) MQConn.createConnection(); jmsSession = jmsConn.createSession(false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE); Queue jmsQueue = jmsSession.createQueue("PARK"); // browse thru messages queueBrowser = jmsSession.createBrowser(jmsQueue); Enumeration msgEnum = queueBrowser.getEnumeration(); commandsBw = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(outputFile)); // String line = "DateTime\tMsgID\tOrigMsgID\tCorrelationID\tComputerName\tSubsystem\tDispatcherName\tProcessor\tJobID\tErrorMsg"; commandsBw.write(line); commandsBw.newLine(); while (msgEnum.hasMoreElements()) { Message message = (Message) msgEnum.nextElement(); line = dateFormatter.format(new Date(message.getJMSTimestamp())) + "\t" + message.getJMSMessageID() + "\t" + message.getStringProperty("pkd_orig_jms_msg_id") + "\t" + message.getJMSCorrelationID() + "\t" + message.getStringProperty("pkd_computer_name") + "\t" + message.getStringProperty("pkd_subsystem") + "\t" + message.getStringProperty("pkd_dispatcher_name") + "\t" + message.getStringProperty("pkd_processor") + "\t" + message.getStringProperty("pkd_job_id") + "\t" + message.getStringProperty("pkd_sysex_msg"); _logger.info(line); commandsBw.write(line); commandsBw.newLine(); } } Close: finally { IO.close(commandsBw); if (queueBrowser != null) { try { queueBrowser.close();} catch (Exception ignore) {}} if (jmsSession != null) { try { jmsSession.close();} catch (Exception ignore) {}} if (jmsConn != null) { try { jmsConn.stop();} catch (Exception ignore) {}} }

  • Naming selenium grid nodes. Spawning a specific node

    - by ???? ????
    I'm trying to implement a kind of default queues in selenium hub. There is a possibility to specify node's name (actually its environment, smth like "firefox on ubuntu" or "chrome on windows"). Selenium grid itself has a default queue, it works according to 'First In, First Out' principle. But I want to prioritize some of my tasks given to selenium server. I have no possibility to introduce custom queue (seems like there is no API for that), that's why I decided to separate queue's logic from selenium server. I'll only call a specific node with specific name (environment) for example "firefox important node" or smth like that. So, I want to know how to directly tell selenium which node to use for my task? And generally, am I thinking in a right way? Here are my configs: hubConfig.json.erb { "host": null, "port": <%= node[:selenium][:server][:port] %>, "newSessionWaitTimeout": -1, "servlets" : [], "prioritizer": null, "capabilityMatcher": "org.openqa.grid.internal.utils.DefaultCapabilityMatcher", "throwOnCapabilityNotPresent": true, "nodePolling": <%= node[:selenium][:server][:node_polling] %>, "cleanUpCycle": <%= node[:selenium][:server][:cleanup_cycle] %>, "timeout": <%= node[:selenium][:server][:timeout] %>, "browserTimeout": 0, "maxSession": <%= node[:selenium][:server][:max_session] %> } nodeConfig.json.erb { "capabilities": [ { "browserName": "firefox", "maxInstances": 5, "seleniumProtocol": "WebDriver" }, { "browserName": "chrome", "maxInstances": 5, "seleniumProtocol": "WebDriver" }, { "browserName": "phantomjs", "maxInstances": 5, "seleniumProtocol": "WebDriver" } ], "configuration": { "proxy": "org.openqa.grid.selenium.proxy.DefaultRemoteProxy", "maxSession": <%= node[:selenium][:node][:max_session] %>, "port": <%= node[:selenium][:node][:port] %>, "host": "<%= node[:fqdn] %>", "register": true, "registerCycle": <%= node[:selenium][:node][:register_cycle] %>, "hubPort": <%= node[:selenium][:server][:port] %> } } And my Driver class: ... def remote_driver @browser = Watir::Browser.new(:remote, :url => "http://myhub.com:4444/wd/hub", :http_client => client, :desired_capabilities => capabilities ) end def capabilities Selenium::WebDriver::Remote::Capabilities.send( "firefox", :javascript_enabled => true, :css_selectors_enabled => true, :takes_screenshot => true ) end def client client = Selenium::WebDriver::Remote::Http::Default.new client.timeout = 360 client end ... I still don't know how to use specified node for my task. If I try to start a driver adding :name => "firefox important node" and extend nodeConfig.json.erb's configuration with environments: - name: "firefox important node" browser: "*firefox" - name: "Firefox36 on Linux" browser: "*firefox" selenium just starts random firefox browser on a random node. How can I control it?

  • Configuring the expiry time for the messages destined to the "Expired message address" in Hornetq

    - by Rohit
    I have configured a message expiry destination in Hornetq as below <address-setting match="#"> <dead-letter-address>jms.queue.error</dead-letter-address> <expiry-address>jms.queue.error</expiry-address> <max-delivery-attempts>3</max-delivery-attempts> <redelivery-delay>2000</redelivery-delay> <max-size-bytes>10485760</max-size-bytes> <message-counter-history-day-limit>10</message-counter-history-day-limit> <address-full-policy>BLOCK</address-full-policy> <redistribution-delay>60000</redistribution-delay> </address-setting> And the messages do get redirected to the expiry address once the expiration time is exceeded. These messages live indefinitely on the expiry address, Is there a way to provide a expiry time for these messages so they live only limited time on the expiry address?

  • Symfony2 and RabbitMqBundle. Can`t publish a message

    - by Gabriel Filipiak
    I am trying to use syfmony2 framework with RabbitMqBundle from here: https://github.com/videlalvaro/RabbitMqBundle I am sure that my rabbitmq server is up and running and I am doing the configuration and publishers code accordingly to the docs delivered on github. Unfortunately I can`t add any message to the queue. I am sure that my rabbitmq server is up and running. I have queue named accordingly to the symfony configuration file. Have anyone got any clue what is wrong? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Sending SMTP e-mail at a high rate in .NET

    - by Martin Liversage
    I have a .NET service that processes a queue on a background thread and from the items in the queue sends out a large number of small e-mail messages at a very high rate (say 100 messages per second if that is even possible). Currently, I use SmtpClient.Send() but I'm afraid that it may hamper performance. Each call to Send() goes through a full cycle of opening the socket, performing the SMTP conversation (HELO, MAIL FROM, RCPT TO, DATA) and closing the socket. In pseudo code: for each message { open socket send HELO send MAIL FROM send RCPT TO send DATA close socket } I would think that the following pseudo code would be more optimal: open socket send HELO for each message { send MAIL FROM send RCPT TO send DATA } send QUIT close socket Should I be concerned about the performance of SmtpClient.Send() when sending e-mail at a high rate? What are my options for optimizing the performance?

  • Growable data structure in MATLAB

    - by rlbond
    I need to create a queue in matlab that holds structs which are very large. I don't know how large this queue will get. Matlab doesn't have linked lists, and I'm worried that repeated allocation and copying is really going to slow down this code which must be run thousands of times. I need some sort of way to use a growable data structure. I've found a couple of entries for linked lists in the matlab help but I can't understand what's going on. Can someone help me with this problem?

  • Is ActiveMQ unreliable?

    - by user122991
    Hello, We have been using ActiveMQ 5.2 in our distributed enterprise application for about 3 months. During that time, we have experienced debilitating failures at least twice weekly. In particular, we see: 1) Topic publisher has its connection arbitrarily closed and experiences EOF on attempt to publish. Note well that this issue is not a function of some timeout. It does not correlate reliably with any inactivity. 2) Queue listeners never receive message. Message simply sits on Queue. 2) is much rarer (hardly ever) than 1). In both cases, the failures are highly intermittent-- they cannot be reliably reproduced through any testing usage pattern. Also, there are no errors or warning in the AMQ logs. Have others experienced similar problems? Is there an opinion that some other JMS provider is more reliable? thanks, Joe

    i want to know... how can i send a file to a rabbitmq queue from php. i have gone through many examples most of them didnt work. below is a consumer producer example which is near to working. Below is a the publisher.php <?php require_once('../php-amqplib/amqp.inc'); include('../config.php'); $conn = new AMQPConnection(HOST, PORT, USER, PASS, VHOST); $channel = $conn->channel(); $channel->exchange_declare('upload-pictures','direct', false, true, false); $metadata = json_encode(array( 'image_id' => $argv[1], 'user_id' => $argv[2], 'image_path' => $argv[3] )); $msg = new AMQPMessage($metadata, array('content_type' => 'text/plain','delivery_mode' => 2)); $channel->basic_publish($msg, 'upload-pictures'); $channel->close(); $conn->close(); ?> consumer.php <?php require_once('../php-amqplib/amqp.inc'); include('../config.php'); $conn = new AMQPConnection(HOST, PORT, USER, PASS,VHOST); $channel = $conn->channel(); $queue = 'add-points'; $consumer_tag = 'consumer'; $channel->exchange_declare('upload-pictures','direct', false, true, false); $channel->queue_declare('add-points',false, true, false, false); $channel->queue_bind('add-points', 'upload-pictures'); $consumer = function($msg){}; $channel->basic_consume($queue,$consumer_tag,false,false,false,false,$consumer); ?> according to the example provided in the rabbitmq manual, i need to run consumer(php consumer.php) first in one terminal and the publisher (php publisher.php 1 2 file/path.png) in another terminal, i will get a "Adding points to user: 2" message in the consumer terminal. iam not getting this message at all. can you suggest where iam going wrong

  • call multiple c++ functions in python using threads

    - by wiso
    Suppose I have a C(++) function taking an integer, and it is bound to (C)python with python api, so I can call it from python: import c_module c_module.f(10) now, I want to parallelize it. The problem is: how does the GIL work in this case? Suppose I have a queue of numbers to be processed, and some workers (threading.Thread) working in parallel, each of them calling c_module.f(number) where number is taken from a queue. The difference with the usual case, when GIL lock the interpreter, is that now you don't need the interpreter to evaluate c_module.f because it is compiled. So the question is: in this case the processing is really parallel?

  • Android 2.1: Muliple Handlers in a Single Activity

    - by Soumya Simanta
    Hi, I've more than one Handlers in an Activity. I create all the handlers in the onCreate() of the main activity. My understanding is the handlerMessage() method of each handler will never be called at the same time because all messages are put in the same queue (the Activity thread MessageQueue). Therefore, they will be executed in the order in which are put into the Queue. They will also be executed in the main activity thread. Is this correct ? public void onCreate() { this.handler1 = new Handler() { @Override public void handleMessage(Message msg) { //operation 1 : some operation with instanceVariable1 super.handleMessage(msg); } }; this.handler2 = new Handler() { @Override public void handleMessage(Message msg) { //Operation 2: some operation with instanceVariable1 super.handleMessage(msg); } }; this.handler3 = new Handler() { @Override public void handleMessage(Message msg) { //Operation 3: some operation with instanceVariable1 super.handleMessage(msg); } }; }

  • some OVERLAPS using WSASend not returning in a timely manner using GetQueuedCompletionStatus?

    - by Geoffrey
    Background: I'm using CreateIoCompletionPort, WSASend/Recv, and GetQueuedCompletionStatus to do overlapped socket io on my server. For flow control, when sending to the client, I only allow several WSASend() to be called when all pending OVERLAPs have popped off the IOCP. Problem: Recently, there are occassions when the OVERLAPs do not get returned to the IOCP. The thread calling GetQueuedCompletionStatus does not get them and they remain in my local pending queue. I've verified that the client DOES receive the data off the socket and the socket is connected. No errors were returned when the WSASend() calls were made. The OVERLAPs simply "never" come back without an external stimulus like the following: Disconnecting the socket from the client or server, immediately allows the GetQueuedCompletionStatus thread to retrieve the OVERLAPs Making additional calls to WSASend(), sometimes several are needed, before all the OVERLAPs suddenly pop off the queue. Question: Has anyone seen this type of behavior? Any ideas on what is causing this? Thanks, Geoffrey

  • How does Linux blocking I/O actually work?

    - by tgguy
    In Linux, when you make a blocking i/o call like read or accept, what actually happens? My thoughts: the process get taken out of the run queue, put into a waiting or blocking state on some wait queue. Then when a tcp connection is made (for accept) or the hard drive is ready or something for a file read, a hardware interrupt is raised which lets those processes waiting to wake up and run (in the case of a file read, how does linux know what processes to awaken, as there could be lots of processes waiting on different files?). Or perhaps instead of hardware interrupts, the individual process itself polls to check availability. Not sure, help?

  • MSSQL 2005: Update rows in a specified order (like ORDER BY)?

    - by JMTyler
    I want to update rows of a table in a specific order, like one would expect if including an ORDER BY clause, but MS SQL does not support the ORDER BY clause in UPDATE queries. I have checked out this question which supplied a nice solution, but my query is a bit more complicated than the one specified there. UPDATE TableA AS Parent SET Parent.ColA = Parent.ColA + (SELECT TOP 1 Child.ColA FROM TableA AS Child WHERE Child.ParentColB = Parent.ColB ORDER BY Child.Priority) ORDER BY Parent.Depth DESC; So, what I'm hoping that you'll notice is that a single table (TableA) contains a hierarchy of rows, wherein one row can be the parent or child of any other row. The rows need to be updated in order from the deepest child up to the root parent. This is because TableA.ColA must contain an up-to-date concatenation of its own current value with the values of its children (I realize this query only concats with one child, but that is for the sake of simplicity - the purpose of the example in this question does not necessitate any more verbosity), therefore the query must update from the bottom up. The solution suggested in the question I noted above is as follows: UPDATE messages SET status=10 WHERE ID in (SELECT TOP (10) Id FROM Table WHERE status=0 ORDER BY priority DESC ); The reason that I don't think I can use this solution is because I am referencing column values from the parent table inside my subquery (see WHERE Child.ParentColB = Parent.ColB), and I don't think two sibling subqueries would have access to each others' data. So far I have only determined one way to merge that suggested solution with my current problem, and I don't think it works. UPDATE TableA AS Parent SET Parent.ColA = Parent.ColA + (SELECT TOP 1 Child.ColA FROM TableA AS Child WHERE Child.ParentColB = Parent.ColB ORDER BY Child.Priority) WHERE Parent.Id IN (SELECT Id FROM TableA ORDER BY Parent.Depth DESC); The WHERE..IN subquery will not actually return a subset of the rows, it will just return the full list of IDs in the order that I want. However (I don't know for sure - please tell me if I'm wrong) I think that the WHERE..IN clause will not care about the order of IDs within the parentheses - it will just check the ID of the row it currently wants to update to see if it's in that list (which, they all are) in whatever order it is already trying to update... Which would just be a total waste of cycles, because it wouldn't change anything. So, in conclusion, I have looked around and can't seem to figure out a way to update in a specified order (and included the reason I need to update in that order, because I am sure I would otherwise get the ever-so-useful "why?" answers) and I am now hitting up Stack Overflow to see if any of you gurus out there who know more about SQL than I do (which isn't saying much) know of an efficient way to do this. It's particularly important that I only use a single query to complete this action. A long question, but I wanted to cover my bases and give you guys as much info to feed off of as possible. :) Any thoughts?

  • [C#] Problems with implementing generic IEnumerator and IComparable

    - by r0h
    Hi all! I'm working on an AVL Tree. The tree itself seems to be working but I need a iterator to walk through the values of the tree. Therefore I tried to implement the IEnumerator interace. Unfortunately I get a compile time error implementing IEnumerator and IComparable. First the code and below that the error. class AvlTreePreOrderEnumerator<T> : IEnumerator<T> where T :IComparable<T> { private AvlTreeNode<T> current = default(T); private AvlTreeNode<T> tree = null; private Queue<AvlTreeNode<T>> traverseQueue = null; public AvlTreePreOrderEnumerator(AvlTreeNode<T> tree) { this.tree = tree; //Build queue traverseQueue = new Queue<AvlTreeNode<T>>(); visitNode(this.tree.Root); } private void visitNode(AvlTreeNode<T> node) { if (node == null) return; else { traverseQueue.Enqueue(node); visitNode(node.LeftChild); visitNode(node.RightChild); } } public T Current { get { return current.Value; } } object IEnumerator.Current { get { return Current; } } public void Dispose() { current = null; tree = null; } public void Reset() { current = null; } public bool MoveNext() { if (traverseQueue.Count > 0) current = traverseQueue.Dequeue(); else current = null; return (current != null); } } The error given by VS2008: Error 1 The type 'T' cannot be used as type parameter 'T' in the generic type or method 'Opdr2_AvlTreeTest_Final.AvlTreeNode'. There is no boxing conversion or type parameter conversion from 'T' to 'System.IComparable'. For now I've not included the tree and node logic. I anybody thinks is necessary to resolve this probleem, just say so! Thx!

  • Using delayed_job to process file uploads across multiple servers

    - by Steve Klabnik
    Does anyone have any good resources on how to do this? Basically, I'm working on a project (in Rails) where people can upload files. They might be big. I'd like to process them using delayed_job before sending them to S3. I'd also like to do this processing on a separate job queue server, rather than on the webserver itself. I'd rather not have to upload the files to the webserver, then transfer them to the job queue server, and then upload them to S3 if I don't have to. Thanks.

  • Setting application affinity in gdb

    - by Marcus Ahlberg
    Is there a simple way of setting the affinity of the application I'm debugging without locking gdb to the same core? The reason why I'm asking is that the application is running with real time priority and it needs to run on a single core. At the moment I use this command line taskset -c 3 gdbserver :1234 ./app.out but the application stops responding and freezes the gdb server, making debugging impossible. I suspect that the real time priority of the application prevents gdb from executing. If I start the application and then start gdb without affinity setting, then I can attach and debug the application without gdb freezing. Is there a simple way to start gdb and the application with different affinities? Or preferably: Is there a gdb command to set affinity of the child process?

  • Windows desktop gadget RSS Feed colour coding items

    - by padjo
    I have a desktop gadget that pulls RSS Feeds from a website. The Feed contains information about issues - ie. Priority, Time, Description. The Feed items are displayed on the desktop - however I need to colour code them according to their priority ie 1 = red etc. using the substr function - is there a better way to do this using JavaScript / HTML? At the moment I've hacked together this - but is there a more elegant solution? if (feed.item.description.substr(10,1) == "1") { document.write "<a href colour="red"" + item + ">"; else if (feed.item.description.substr(10,1) == "2") { document.write "<a href colour="yellow"" + item + ">"; else { document.write "<a href colour="green"" + item + ">";

  • audio power on AudioQueue

    - by Tomoyuki
    Hi everyone. I'm now creating an Application using speech recognition.To check the Audio Power coming in through the microphone, I wrote a method as follows. -(void)checkPower(AudioqueRef)queue{ UInt32 expectedSize= sizeof(AudioQueueLevelMeterState); AudioQueueGetProperty(queue, kAudioQueueProperty_CurrentLevelMeter, audioLevels, expectedSize); NSLog(@"average:%f peak:%f",audioLevels.mAveragePower,audioLevels.mPeakPower); } I found that sometimes mAveragePower was larger than mPeakPower, and when mAveragePower was 1.0, in other words, averagePower is regarded as max, mPeakPower was lower than 1.0. I think that generally this result is inpossible. please Let me know if you have any information about sound power on CoreAudio. thanks.

  • Caching using hibernate

    - by Subhendu Mahanta
    I have 2 applications.First one is a web application through which we provision reference data.Second one is an ESB based application where the reference data is used.The reference data changes but not very frequently.We needed to cache the reference data.The web application( I am not the owner) used hibernate. But my ESB based application did not.We only used EHCache. When reference data is changed by the independent web application that needs to be reflected in ESB application.We implemented using message queue - that is when reference data changes web application sends a message to the message queue.Our ESB application listens to that message & clears the cache & caches the data once again.This works.But it is time intensive.How can I use Hibernate to improve the situation? Regards, Subhendu

  • Regular expression: who's greedier?

    - by polygenelubricants
    My primary concern is with the Java flavor, but I'd also appreciate information regarding others. Let's say you have a subpattern like this: (.*)(.*) Not very useful as is, but let's say these two capture groups (say, \1 and \2) are part of a bigger pattern that matches with backreferences to these groups, etc. So both are greedy, in that they try to capture as much as possible, only taking less when they have to. My question is: who's greedier? Does \1 get first priority, giving \2 its share only if it has to? What about: (.*)(.*)(.*) Let's assume that \1 does get first priority. Let's say it got too greedy, and then spit out a character. Who gets it first? Is it always \2 or can it be \3? Let's assume it's \2 that gets \1's rejection. If this still doesn't work, who spits out now? Does \2 spit to \3, or does \1 spit out another to \2 first?

  • Injecting relationships in DBIx::Class

    - by Carl
    I have a handful of DBIx::Class::Core objects that model various database tables. For some of those models (those that have a 'queue' column), I have another class inject subs (basically, to 'move' the model object along it's queue states). I'd like to also have that class inject has_many relationships ala class($name)->has_many('queue_history','MySchema::Result::QueueHistory', { 'foreign.record_id'=>'self.id' }, { where => { type => $name }} ); but I can't seem to get the relationships to register properly (keep getting "No Such Relationship" errors - however, when calling the relationship method on the sources provides back the relationship). Any clues as to what's wrong?

  • Lazy evaluation with ostream C++ operators

    - by SavinG
    I am looking for a portable way to implement lazy evaluation in C++ for logging class. Let's say that I have a simple logging function like void syslog(int priority, const char *format, ...); then in syslog() function we can do: if (priority < current_priority) return; so we never actually call the formatting function (sprintf). On the other hand, if we use logging stream like log << LOG_NOTICE << "test " << 123; all the formating is always executed, which may take a lot of time. Is there any possibility to actually use all the goodies of ostream (like custom << operator for classes, type safety, elegant syntax...) in a way that the formating is executed AFTER the logging level is checked ?

  • When to stop following the advice of static code analysis?

    I do use static code analysis on a project with more than 100.000 lines of Java code for quite a while now. I started with Findbugs, which gave me around 1500 issues at the beginning. I fixed the most severe over time and started using additional tools like PMD, Lint4J, JNorm and now Enerjy. With the more severe issues being fixed, there is a huge number of low severity issues. How do you handle these low priority issues? Do you try fixing all of them? Or only in newly written code? Do you regularly disable certain rules? (I found that I do on nearly any of the available tools). And if you ignore or disable rules, do you document those? What do your managers say about "leaving some thousand low priority issues not fixed"? Do you use (multiple) tool specific comments in the code or is there any better way?
