    We are using Twitter Bootstrap for my application. I have situation where I have to pull the data from server and show it to popup/model div. We are using dialog2.js for it but it does work. We not want to use .load functionality as we are not using any single url call. We want it to do with “URL” by ajax call and response send back to popup/model content area.   • Get client timezone (not GMT offset amount) in JS

    I need to determine the client timezone (e.g. CET, GMT, EST) in JS. Getting the offset is straightforward, but doesn't have all the info necessary to determine the TZ, at least not easily. I have a feeling it might be possible to use a combination of offset, whether DST is in use and in effect, etc. but I'm hoping someone else has done the work already, especially considering the weird exceptions when dealing with time. This question is similar but both the question and the answer are based on the (incorrect) assumption every browser's DateString format includes the name of the timezone - which it does not. That is an implementation detail. So, with that I am currently stuck.

I want to know how can i clear this? But in someplace it is displayed properly and in someplace is not displayed properly.

  • Passing JS variable from child Iframe to parent JSP on cross sub domain

    I am stuck at 1 location and need some help. I created two subdomains on apache tomcat server like domain1.localhost.com and domain2.localhost.com in server.xml. On domain1 I have a JSP that includes iFrame (hosted on domain2). How can we pass the JS variable from child Iframe to parent JSP and store it in local variable of JSP hosted on domain1.localhost.com? I tried defining document.domain = "localhost" on both JSP but didn't work. Even parent DOM window is also not available in child iFrame (on sub-domain) because of obvious cross domain policies. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    In the new sifr 3, the author has implemented the ability to combine the css files into 1 file. There are 4 .js files total and I was wondering if there were any ideas how to combine these files for a faster loading time on the client side and also I was wondering if there was any way to just include the sIFR css styles in an already existing css file. These modifications would greatly decrease the load/waiting time on the end user and I was wondering if there was any thought for that on upcoming builds or if there were any ideas on how to accomplish this idea.

    Hello! I am looking for a way to perform fulltext search on the DOM tree with JS. In two words, I would like to retrieve the list of text nodes which contain a given string. I've tried mootools' Element.getElements ( ':contains[string]' ) but I can't get it to work with strings containing whitespace. I'm thinking about simply indexing all text nodes and checking against each node for the string being searched for, but, in my project, there's no way of telling when the DOM updates in order to maintain such an index up-to-date. Any better ideas? Thanks

    We are planning to start a fairly complex web-portal which is expected to attract good local traffic and I've been told by my boss to consider/analyse node.js for the serve side. I think scalability and multi-core support can be handled with an Nginx or Cherokee up in the front. 1) Is this node.js ready for some serious/big business? 2) Does this 'event/asynchronous' paradigm on server side has the potential to support the heavy traffic and data operation ? considering the fact that 'everything' is being processed in a single thread and all the live connections would be lost if it got crashed (though its easy to restart). 3) What are the advantages of event based programming compared to thread based style ? or vice-versa. (I know of higher cost associated with thread switching but hardware can be squeezed with event model.)   • JS Variable inside another variable

    I have a function that would use other variables, depending on what has been passed. Like this = ActionBar(slot) slot contains "one". and I would like to create a call inside that like object.slot.name but it should convert it before hand to make the command look like object.one.name. Is there a way to do this in javascript/jquery? I remember vaguely that some other language does this as {slot} or something like that. Sorry if this question was already asked, I've checked google and stackoverflow too, but didn't find an answer. Also I'd like to know what's the proper programming term for this kind of variable passing? Edited it cause of misunderstandings. I'm looking into OOP js, so object is an object, one is an object, and name is an attribute, but when passing I'm passing "one" as a string to the function. Tried eval, it doesn't work while dotted with an object.

  • ext-js update params dynamically

    I'm building a search using ext-js. I have an event that fires on keyup. I want to be able to change either the URL I'm searching, or the params. I've had luck with neither. Here's my snippit of code: Ext.get("search").on('keyup', function() { proxy.url = '/customer/list?key=' + $('search').value; store.load(); }); But, no love for me. The store loads, but the proxy.url is the old value. Is what I'm trying to do possible? Thanks in advance!

  • Problem loading js content with ajax

    I have a page that loads content into a single div via a script in the page. It works fine but the problem is that I have a lightbox in one of the dynamically loaded pages that only works the first time you navigate to it (the script I got for the page loading is found here). Once you navigate to another area, then back again, the lightbox fails to work and instead just loads the plain image. It's been suggested that the easiest way to fix this would be to have a script unload the js and css that is loaded in with the page, then reload it when you go back to the gallery section. I'm a designer, not a developer though, so I don't know if this is true or not. Any help is really appreciated. The page can be found here: justgooddesign.net/graduation/

  • Image Replacement (JS/JQuery) working in IE but not FF

    I have tried multiple solutions for replacing broken images (both JS & jQuery) and all work perfectly with IE but not in FF, is there a reason for this? Are images handled differently in FF that may cause this? JQuery Example: $("img").error(function(){ $(this).unbind("error").attr("src", "nopic.jpg"); }); Javascript Example: (triggered by onError event in img tag) function noimage(img){ img.onerror=""; img.src="nopic.jpg"; return true; } Both of these examples work perfectly in IE but not at all in FF.     I'm currently working on a wordpress site. My task is just to add the conversion script in a thankyou page. I added the script here: http://www.livingedge.co.nz/thanks-for-getting-in-touch/ , unfortunately does not work. It says that a conversion.js was not found. See the attached screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/52ixQUzHKNxZ I added the conversion script on the footer put it in a conditional so that it will load only on the thakyoupage. I'm new to this and can't figure out what would be the possible cause of such problem. I tried adding the script in the header, on the page editor, on a form redirect.     This code takes 3 seconds on Chrome and 6s on Firefox. If I write the code in Java and run it under Java 7.0 it takes only 10ms. Chrome's JS engine is usually very fast. Why is it so slow here? btw. this code is just for testing.     I'm using the Facebook JS SDK for single-sign with my rails app. I translated the php code from the Facebook example (at the bottom of the page under "Single Sign-on with the JavaScript SDK") into ruby. This appeared to be working great but I've noticed one user that gets continual redirects when trying to login. The logs look like: Processing UsersController#login (for X.X.X.X at 2010-05-22 17:25:55) [GET] Redirected to http://myapp.com/ Completed in 0ms (DB: 0) | 302 Found [http://myapp.com/login] (times as many entries as my unfortunate user leaves the browser redirecting in a loop). My client side code includes a callback with the "auth.sessionChange": FB.Event.subscribe('auth.sessionChange', function(response) { if (response.session) { // A user has logged in, and a new cookie has been saved window.location = "/login"; } else { // The user has logged out, and the cookie has been cleared window.location = "/logout"; } }); So it seems to me like this event is continually firing. Although, I can't test this theory because I can't recreate this scenario locally. I don't think it's the rails controller. Is it possible to use ubuntu as media server to stream files without making the remote end to use there own resource. I want only bandwidth of Wi-Fi to be use in this and media center hardware resource.Remote end gadget should use only speaker and screen and not processing power of their own. Please any suggestion is it possible to do so ?
