  • Lighting Fast CMS, a Django based CMS. Any experiences?

    I've just came across Lighting Fast CMS, which seems to be very promising Django based content management system. Documentation seem to be very good, even though it is still in beta stage. It also has very nice buildout based installation. Also core Components of it seem to be nicely decoupled. Does anyone have any experiences with it yet? How much one can customize it with extensions? How's extension development in general compared to Drupal or Plone? I'm hoping that I could do some projects with it instead of Plone or Drupal.     I am creating a vBulletin forum community called: wehypnosis We purchased the vBulletin version 4.0 CMS and the SEO plugin. Im used to designing and building templates for drupal, wordpress and joomla. All of which have great documentation and many tutorials built by the community. But vBulletin although claimed as the best forum software on the internet, is missing any form of documentation worth reading. The only thing I can find to help me rebuild this monster is www.vbulletin.com/docs/ Does anyone know of a set of tutorials or any documentation which would help me: Configure a good solid working version? Give detailed instruction on how to build themes for vBulletin? Drupal has a mountain of great books and resources. Does vBulletin?

  • setting up/installing/configuring nginx LEMP stack on fresh VPS server

    I need some help in settingup/installing and configuring nginx LEMP stack on a fresh new VPS i have. The specs of the CentOS 5.7 VPS are 2GB DDR3 ECC RAM(4GB burst), 1 core 1.5Ghz(3Ghz burst) and 100GB RAID 10 storage, unmetered bandwidth @ 100Mpbs all for a whopping $25/month(unbeatable, yeah i know :) Anyways i have followed this LEMP(will also need MySQL and PHP) stack guide on linode http://library.linode.com/lemp-guides/centos-5 but basically what i want is to be able to host multiple website on this webserver after everything is setup. I am used to using DirectAdmin control panel on other server and want to have things setup so i can host multiple websites...mostly wordpress and drupal themes. Lets say 10 websites on this nginx web server. So can someone please help me on what i need to do to take "full" advantage of nginx power and performance, while been able to easily manage these multiple websites (wordpress and drupal themes)?   • Switching to a VPS

    Well, I know absolutely nothing about the subject, so I really need help. I currently have a website running on google app-engine (Java) and I can't get it to what I want because of app engine's limitations (no full text search mainly). The traffic is low, never reached 15% of the free quota (around 1500 daily pageviews). I also have 3 sites in drupal hosted in a shared hosting service, and this is giving me problems, because the server speed is awful. The sites are VERY low trafic, but load times are bad, and I might need to add more sites for some clients, so this will only get worse. So, i'm planning to move all that to VPS. The question is, can I have 2 http servers running in the same VPS? because I will need Apache-php-drupal server and a java server (tomcat?). I have really no idea on this, so any tip will be very helpful to me. Thanks!

  • SQL query help - merge a value to all rows in a column

    I'm trying to migrate a site from a joomla system to a drupal. The problem is that drupal needs filename and sourcepath in the same row, but joomla only has filename. I'm looking for a way to add sourcepath before the filename in all the rows in that column. I'm figuring it's the UPDATE statement that I should use, but I can't figure out how to construct the query.   • CMS or roll-yer-own?

    I have a database of software tools and I want to be able to have users rate and comment on the tools, and view the ratings and comments that other users have left. To lower the risk of spammers attacking the site, I would like to be able to restrict comment/rating permissions to those who are logged in. At present, the tools are in a list on a static html page as part of a website that is very "non-interactive"; other than the contact form, there is nowhere that users contribute content to the site. We maintain a wiki (of the standard mediawiki flavour) that users can contribute to, and we also have a Drupal installation as a news site. Does anyone have any experience of creating such a rating/commenting system, and whether it would be better to use Mediawiki or Drupal (or another free CMS?), or to try to create something myself? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

However, I'd like to suspend this behavior for a specific URL. How can I do this?   • Have I pushed the limits of my current VPS or is there room for optimization?

    I am currently on a mediatemple DV server (basic) 512mb dedicated ram, this is a CentOS based VPS with Plesk and Virtuozzo. My experience with it from day 1 has been bad and I only could sooth my server issues with several caching "Band-aids," but my sites are not as small as they were a year ago either so the issues have worsen. I have 3 Drupal installs running on separate (plesk) domains, 1 of those drupal installs is a multisite, that consists of 5-6 sites 2 of those sites are bringing in actual traffic. Those caching "Band-aids" I mentioned are APC, which seemed to help alot initially, and Drupal's Boost, which is considered a poorman's Varnish, it makes all my pages static for anonymous users. Last 30day combined estimate on Google Ananlytics: 90k visitors 260k pageviews. Issue: alot of downtime, I am continually checking if my sites are up, and lately I have been finding it down more than 3 times daily. Restarting Apache will bring it back up, for some time. I have google search every error message and looked up ways to optimize my DV server, and I am beyond stump what is my next move.   • Foundation CSS Framework, how to change triangle on accodion [migrated]

    I'm using foundation framework for the first time and for the most part everything is going smoothly. I am however having some trouble with the accordion in that I need to change the open/close indicator triangle that is in use. You can see it in the docs here. I've looked through the css and found the section with the accordion on foundation.css at lines 709-719 but there is no image to change or adjust. I would like to change this icon to the one in my psd, but just can't figure out where. See attached screenshot for what needs to be changed. I know how to make changes, in this case I just can't find where to make the change.

Our current workflow is (on a Facebook hidden object game) : Artists produce PSD and animate prototypes in Flash Artists re-organize their FLA files to be a bit more "programmer friendly" Programmers retouches assets until they have the right structure and export classes inside a SWC, from Flash Programmers try to improve performances, sometimes degrading the quality of game graphics Our main idea is to hire somebody dedicated to prepare assets for programmers but I am really looking forward to improving the pipeline. I was wondering if you guys have tips of any kind to improve this workflow, whether it be team organization, training, tools or tips with Flash. Any explanation on your asset pipeline is well appreciated too.

  • Recommended requirements when outsourcing xhtml/css site building?

    I'm considering outsourcing a part of our web application development project for freelancers, namely the site building part. What I mean by site building is the process of creating the xhtml/css template files, with dummy content, from a psd file (or any other graphical layout file). The resulting xhtml/css files will be used by our developers as templates for cms based page rendering. The cms in this case is Drupal, but that might not be of much relevance. I'm looking for a good set of requirements, that will result in good quality xhtml/css code, complying with today's standards leaves little to the freelancer developer's imagination in terms of what I need I'm thinking about requirements like: Valid XHTML 1.0 Transitional document type, validated by validator.w3.org Identical rendering in all modern browsers (FF, Chrome, Safari, Opera, IE7-8) and also in IE6 All opening and closing block-level elements should be properly commented, referencing the functional part of the user interface they belong to (menu, toolbar, content, etc) No inline CSS definitions And so on. How would you organize a list like that? What requirements would you add?

  • Do Spambots have access to unlimited IP addresses?

    I have been attacked for weeks by the same spambot trying to brute force the login page. I have a login security module now installed on my Drupal 6 website and it bans on IP after x amount of attempts. It's been going on for ever and I have banned about 1000 IP addresses. Is there any point in me banning on IP due to the spambot having access to unlimited IP addresses or will they run out of them eventually?

  • Simple CMS for clients?

    I'm looking for something fairly simple for clients to use and very easy for me to skin (somewhat complicated themes). something like Perch or Couchcms, but has to be open source to satisfy some license requirements.. I can't really seem to find any CMS that is like this {Wordpress, drupal etc are way too heavy for this use} , really appreciated There aren't much requirements, anything will really work - each site gets their own jailed instance and stuff, just PHP/MySQL
