  • how can I add a custom non-DataTable column to my DataView, in a winforms ADO.net application?

    Hi, How could I (/is it possible) to add a custom column to my DataView, and in this column display the result of a specific calculation. That is, I currently have a dataGridView which has a binding to a DataView, based on the DataTable from my database. I'd like to add an additional column to the dataGridView to display a number which is calculated by looking at this current row plus it's children row. In other words the info for the column isn't just derivable from the row data itself. Specific questions might be: a) where to add the column itself? to the DataView I assume? b) which method / event to trigger the re-calculation of the value of this custom column from ( / how do I control this) Thanks PS. My code is able to retrieve the images successfully but with a fixed size of 63KB. if the image is greater than that size, it just brings the first 63KB from the image!   • Two PickerViews in save View issue?

    I'm trying to have 2 pickerviews in the same view. It works except for two things. If one pickerview has more rows than the other the app crashes when picking an item from the pickerview with more items. Also I created an NSLog for the pickerviews and the console shows that I'm picking two items at once when in fact i'm only dealing with one pickerview. I know it sounds a bit confusing but I'm including all the code.   • GridView paging inside an UpdatePanel or PlaceHolder components

    Hello, I'm new to ASP.NET. Im developing ASP.NET C# web form which creating GridView components dynamically and filling them using the data received from my webservice. I'm creating these GridView components programmatically in server-side (cs file)- it has to be flexible - 1 GridView and sometimes 10 GridView components. The problem occurs when I'm trying to add pagination - whenever the user clicks the "next" page, the whole page is getting refreshed because of a postBack and I'm loosing all my data and the page returns Blank/Empty. I used PlaceHolder to hold the GridView components, while searching for a solution, I found UpdatePanel as a better alternative - as far as I understand the page can be partially refreshed - which means that only the UpdatePanel has to be refreshed...but it doesn't work. The following code sample is my TEST, the UpdatePanel is the only component initiated in the client side (aspx page), the rest initiated programmatically in CS. how can I solve the issue described above? Why does the whole page is getting refreshed and I'm loosing my data? can you recommend another way? can provide me with any code sample? If I'm not rebuilding the GridView, it doesn't work...   • Design suggestion for expression tree evaluation with time-series data

    I have a (C#) genetic program that uses financial time-series data and it's currently working but I want to re-design the architecture to be more robust. My main goals are: sequentially present the time-series data to the expression trees. allow expression trees to access previous data rows when needed. to optimize performance of the data access while evaluating the expression trees. keep a common interface so various types of data can be used. Here are the possible approaches I've thought about: I can evaluate the expression tree by passing in a data row into the root node and let each child node use the same data row. I can evaluate the expression tree by passing in the data row index and letting each node get the data row from a shared DataSet (currently I'm passing the row index and going to multiple synchronized arrays to get the data). Hybrid: an immutable data set is accessible by all of the expression trees and each expression tree is evaluated by passing in a data row. The benefit of the first approach is that the data row is being passed into the expression tree and there is no further query done on the data set (which should increase performance in a multithreaded environment). The drawback is that the expression tree does not have access to the rest of the data (in case some of the functions need to do calculations using previous data rows). The benefit of the second approach is that the expression trees can access any data up to the latest data row, but unless I specify what that row is, I'll have to iterate through the rows and figure out which one is the last one. The benefit of the hybrid is that it should generally perform better and still provide access to the earlier data. It supports two basic "views" of data: the latest row and the previous rows. Do you guys know of any design patterns or do you have any tips that can help me build this type of system? Should I use a DataSet to hold and present the data, or are there more efficient ways to present rows of data while maintaining a simple interface? FYI: All of my code is written in C#.

    Are there any shortcuts to delete just one row (which is NOT a table row, just a single row in a text) in Microsoft Office Word 2010? If not, how can I assign one to do it? In worst case, can I make a macro (in VB) which could do the same with a custom shortcut? To clarify my problem: I would like to avoid multiple clicks and/or pushing multiple buttons, even if I click in the middle of the line of text. :) For example, in Notepad++ I can delete the entire current line with Ctrl+L, in NetBeans, I can delete an entire line with Ctrl+E, in Eclipse, I can delete current line with Ctrl+D, etc., where it doesn't really matter where my mouse cursor is actually... so there are these simple solutions, which I look for in Word too. It really would simplify my work in huge documents.

    I have a strange Problem with table formating using IE 7. My table looks like this: In IE, when using border-collapse, the borders don't get displayed correctly. That's why I used this fix: .table-vmlist td { border-top: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-status, tr.row-details td { border-left: 1px solid black; } td.col-vm-rdp, tr.row-details td { border-right: 1px solid black; } .table-vmlist { border-bottom: 1px solid black;} When hovering over the row, it gets highlighted with CSS: .table-vmlist tr.row-vm { background-color: #A4C3EF; } .table-vmlist tr.row-vm:hover { background-color: #91BAEF; } Now, in IE 7, when moving the mouse from the top to the bottom of the list, every row gets highlighted correctly and no problems happen. But if I move my mouse pointer from the bottom of the list to the top, every second row seems to loose the border. Can someone explain what the problem is, and how to solve it?     I don't understand why the vertical scroll bar moves automatically to the most top position when "Line 9" clicked, for example. Further clicks does not move the scroll bar.   • Would this prevent the row from being read during the transaction?

    I remember an example where reads in a transaction then writing back the data is not safe because another transaction may read/write to it in the time between. So i would like to check the date and prevent the row from being modified or read until my transaction is finish. Would this do the trick? and are there any sql variants that this will not work on? update tbl set id=id where date>expire_date and id=@id Note: dateexpire_date happens to be my condition. It could be anything. Would this prevent other transaction from reading the row until i commit or rollback?
