  Python When I learned Python I installed it on windows with a nice gui installer and all .py files would automatically run in python, from the command line or explorer. I found this very intuitive and easy, because I could instantly make plain text files and run them. Lisp I'm starting to learn lisp and have decided (from reviews) that SBCL is not a bad lisp implementation. Is there a way to setup SBCL to run .lisp files as easily as with Python? Are there other lisp implementations that have this?

  From Excel, I need to open an Access database and run one of the database's macros. I'm using Excel and Access 2007. Here is my code in Excel: Sub accessMacro() Dim appAccess As New Access.Application Set appAccess = Access.Application appAccess.OpenCurrentDatabase "C:\blah.mdb" appAccess.Visible = True appAccess.DoCmd.RunMacro "RunQueries.RunQueries" appAccess.CloseCurrentDatabase End Sub In the Access Database, there is a procedure named RunQueries in a module named RunQueries. Each time I run this, I get the following error: Runtime error '2485': Microsoft Access Office can't find the object 'RunQueries.' I have also tried: appAccess.DoCmd.RunMacro "RunQueries" and I get the same errors message. Any idea how to do this? By the way, I could go into a long explanation about why I need to do this, but let me just say that I've already argued against it, and I have to do it this way (meaning, I have to use Excel as a frontend to open several Access dbs and run their macros).

• Sorting of table column by string length not working as intended when done in IB via cocoa - binding

  Hi all, I made a sample application displaying list of employees with their salaries over NSTableView using NSArrayController. Basic functionality is working as intended. Also sorting is working fine when Selector - compare or caseInsensitiveCompare is assigned in attribute pane for table column- employeeName. Problem occurs when I try to sort it by string length by setting selector in IB as - length, for the table column - employeeName. It does sorting by string length but does it inappropriately. It is doing sorting on alternate clicks ie. on first click it sorts the content in table in descending order by length. Then on second click it does not arrange contents in ascending order by length but sets arrow on top as in ascending. Then on third click it arranges contents in ascending order by length but sets arrow on top of table column as in descending and so on... Can anyone suggest if I am wrong somewhere? Thanks, Miraaj

• NullPointerException when trying to run an applet of multiple classes

  I'm trying to display an applet in an html page. I've had success doing this in the past, but now that I have more than one class in the applet, I seem to get an error every time I try to load the applet in an html page. For a bit, I was writing the html page by hand, but then I realized the applet viewer in netbeans (the IDE I'm coding in) created an html page for you, which is the same as the one I was coding. The application runs error-free when in the applet viewer, but the following message is displayed when I try to run it in the html page: java.lang.NullPointerException at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager.findAppletJDKLevel(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager.createApplet(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin2.applet.Plugin2Manager$AppletExecutionRunnable.run(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source) Exception: java.lang.NullPointerException I tested another small, one class applet and it ran fine in the html page under the same conditions. Any ideas what may be wrong?

  I have a webrequest that returns a html response which has form inside with hidden fields with some javascript that submits the form automatically on pageload ( if this was run in a browser). If I save this file as *.html and run this file in browser , the java script code automatically posts the form and the output is excel file. I want to be able to generate this file(excel) from a c# code which is not running in broswer. I tried mocking thr form post but its complicated and has various scenarios based on the original webrequest querystring. any pointers.... i know its not possible to probably run JS code that posts the form - from within c# code but still thought of chekcing if someone has done that.

• windows server 2008 r2 - can't get apache to run on port 80

  I have a rackspace cloud server running windows server 2008 r2. I've uninstalled IIS because I want to install Apache. I've installed Apache but it fails everytime i try to run it when i listen to port 80. I've run the command netstat -aon|finderstr "80" and i see the following: C:\Users\Administratornetstat -aon|findstr "80" TCP 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 4 TCP 10.180.15.249:139 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING 4 TCP [::]:80 [::]:0 LISTENING 4 UDP 10.180.15.249:137 : 4 UDP 10.180.15.249:138 : 4 So what are these things running on port 80 and why can't i get apache to start? Is there an alternative port for to run apache under that will work just as well as 80?

But if I put "D:\MyProg.exe" or ".bat" or even "cmd.exe" (which is it PATH as notepad is) it does not work. Without any exeptions. Just: Running... End. Can somebody help? Thanx.

  I added nose, django-nose, nose-exclude, coverage to my buildout.cfg and ran buildout. Furthermore I added the TEST_RUNNER and the NOSE_ARGS to my settings.py. In the last step I created a exclude_dirs.txt and included it into the NOSE_ARGS. That worked so far. Finally I ran bin/django testto run the tests of my project. I found out that every app inside INSTALLED_APP is run and that even parts of the django core models are run. How can I limit this to my project only without exernal packages?

  Suppose a program is running with elevated privileges already, and it needs to see the contents of the System Volume Information folder, and by default, only NT Authority\System can do that. A workaround would be to change ACL's on the folder, but I don't want to mess with that. I already found two ways to do it: the task scheduler and psexec. They are too indirect, I don't even need to describe the first one, and the second one works by installing a windows service, running it, telling it to run whatever I wanted to run, then uninstalling the service. Now the question is: is there a direct, simple WinAPI function to run something as system? I don't think that such an API would circumvent the security restrictions, as an administrator I have the right to schedule a task or install a service, so there must be a shortcut.

• [Android] GPS can't run inside TimerTask

  Hi, I am trying to write an android app that acquires a GPS signal at a fix time interval, for example every 1 minute.   I have a version of SVN on my system in /usr/bin/svn. This is too old to use with some repositories so I compiled a newer version in /home/user/built/bin/svn which works fine. I added this to my PATH so it should be run first. Typing which svn produces /home/user/built/bin/svn however typing svn --version reveals that it us using the old version still. if I run /home/user/built/bin/svn --version then the correct version is displayed. Since the custom version is first in my $PATH, and which lists it first why is the older version being invoked when I run svn? I thought which used your $PATH to find executables in the same fashion as the shell? [Edit] Type gives: type svn svn is hashed (/usr/bin/svn) Is this the problem?

• Is it possible to run the Android emulator as root from NetBeans on the Mac

  I have installed NetBeans 6.8 on my MacOS (Leopard) system and use the Kenai plugin for this platform to create an Android application. The trouble is that I cannot run the Android emulator from NetBeans logged in to the Mac as a normal user. I can run the emulator from the command line and the Eclipse environment when logged in as root. When I try to run NetBeans as root, it displays a message indicating many of components of the Android plugin cannot be loaded because the root user somehow links to Java 1.5 and the plugin needs Java 1.6. There are 3 solutions to this problem as far as I can see: Make the root user environment link to Java 1.6 and use NetBeans as root. Coerce NetBeans to su to root before running the Emulator. Stick to using Eclipse for Android development. If anyone knows how how to do 1 or 2 I would appreciate getting advice from you. Thanks in advance.

  For the sanity of my users, I want a 'mouseover' event to run after the selector has been hovered for half a second rather than as soon as they hover it. I first tried a setTimeout function but that runs however long the element has been hovered, I didn't think it through too much I guess. I've also spent a day (on and off) searching (and playing Pacman) ti no result, unless I'm searching for the wrong things.   So I have a test case that I want to make into a thread. I cannot extend Thread nor can I implement runnable since TestCase already has a method void run(). The compilation error I am getting is Error(62,17): method run() in class com.util.SeleneseTestCase cannot override method run() in class junit.framework.TestCase with different return type, was class junit.framework.TestResult. What I am trying to do is to scale a Selenium testcase up to perform stress testing. I am not able to use selenium grid/pushtotest.com/amazon cloud at this time (installation issues/install time/resource issues). So this really is more of a Java language issue for me.
