  When using the Stream.BeginRead Method, and you are reading from a stream into a memory, how is it determined where you are reading the data from? See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.io.stream.beginread.aspx In the list of parameters, I do not see one that tells where the data is being read from: Parameters buffer Type: System.Byte[] The buffer to read the data into. offset Type: System.Int32 The byte offset in buffer at which to begin writing data read from the stream. count Type: System.Int32 The maximum number of bytes to read. callback Type: System.AsyncCallback An optional asynchronous callback, to be called when the read is complete. state Type: System.Object A user-provided object that distinguishes this particular asynchronous read request from other requests.

• Best way to reverse bitmap data that is upside down

  Hello, I have a method that I call and it returns bitmap data from a capture device. It returns a pointer to the buffer data as an IntPtr and the buffer length as an int. I know in advance that this bitmap is a 24bpp and its width and height. The problem is that the buffer contains the bitmap data upside down and I need this data to be in the right order (reverse it). What I do is create a for loop and using CopyMemory, I copy each line (stride) of this data from bottom to up to a newly allocated memory space. Is there any way to make it faster than creating more memory each time I receive a new frame? It makes the application get a bit slow and consumes more memory as each bitmap is pretty big. I do this because I use another component that analyses the bitmaps and it doesn't work propertly if the bitmaps are upside down. I'm using .net, c# thanks!

• Fatsest way to edit alpha of CGImage (or UIImage) with touch and then display?

  I have two image views, one on top of the another, with two different images. As the user touches the image and moves his/her finger, the top image should become transparent along the touch points with a fixed radius. (Like the PhotoChop app). Currently I am doing it this way... For each touch. Get a copy of the image buffer from CGImage of the top image. Edit the alpha channel of the buffer to create a transparent circle centered at the touch point. Create new CGImage from the buffer. Create UIImage from the CGImage and use the new UIImage as the top image view's image. This works but as you can see too many copy, creates are involved and it is slow. Can somebody please suggest me a faster way of doing the same thing?

  Hello. My C# (.NET 2.0) application has a StringBuilder variable with a capacity of 2.5MB. Obviously, I do not want to copy such a large buffer to a larger buffer space every time it fills. By that point, there is so much data in the buffer anyways, removing the older data is a viable option.   Hi all, I would like to "send" code snippets to a iPython interpreter in Emacs 23.2 (Linux). I have two related questions about this: Q1: I have learned that Emacs provides ('shell-command-on-region') to run selected regions in a shell. I have set setq shell-file-name to my iPython path, but when I run M-| after selecting a region, Emacs prompts me the following: Shell command on region: and if I then type RET, I get the iPython man page on the *Shell Command Output* buffer, without the region being executed. Why? Q2: Assuming that I have already started an iPython shell in some other buffer in Emacs, is there a way of selecting a region in another buffer and "sending" this region to the already-started iPython shell? " When your using the mapping feature to write into a memory buffer, are you really just saving the whole procedure into a queue so directX executes it when finished with other tasks???" I ask this question because this is my perception of mapping when writing to a buffer. I just want to make sure my perception is correct. I understand that the monitor moves extremely slow in compared to the processor, and I am sure the processor can execute 10 times the amount the screen can refresh. I've also tried using different declarations such as D3DDECLUSAGE_TEXCOORD and that has worked fine, returning a size of 48. Is there something specific about D3DDECLUSAGE_TANGENT I don't know? I'm at a complete loss as to why this isn't working...

  I am trying to import a function from a c dll into C#. The c function looks like this unsigned short write_buffer( unsigned short device_number, unsigned short word_count, unsigned long buffer_link, unsigned short* buffer) my attempt at a C# import looks like this [DllImport("sslib32.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Ansi, SetLastError = true)] private static extern ushort write_buffer(ushort deviceNumber, ushort wordCount, UInt32 bufferLink, IntPtr buffer) In C# i have a Dictionary of messages that i would like to pass to this function. The Dictionary looks like this: Dictionary<string, List<ushort>> msgs I am a bit confused how to make a make a proper call to pass msgs as the buffer. deviceNumber is 2, wordCount is 32, and buffLink is 0. So i know the call should look something like this write_buffer(2,32,0, msgs[key]); Obviously i am getting an invalid argument for the IntPtr. What is the proper way to make this call?

• Freeing a character pointer returns error

  I'm trying to free a character pointer after having used it but it returns a strange error. The error says: "_CrtDbgREport: String too long or IO Error" The debugger itself returns no errors while compiling.
