• Microsoft Application Request Routing with Windows Authentication

  I'm running into a problem trying to get Windows Authentication working in an environment that uses Microsoft Application Request Routing and was hoping someone might be able to help. The problem I'm running into is that only some requests are authenticated, while others fail with 401 errors. I have followed the Special Case of Running IIS 7.0 in a Web Farm instructions found at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/webtopics/archive/2009/01/19/service-principal-name-spn-checklist-for-kerberos-authentication-with-iis-7-0.aspx to no avail. My current server setup looks like the following: ARR Two servers set up with IIS shared configuration using IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Anonymous authentication turned on for the Default Web Site Web Farm Two servers running IIS 7.5 on Windows 2008 R2 Three web sites set up using port binding to differentiate between virtual hosts. Ports being used are 8000, 8001, and 8002 Application pools for Windows Authentication all use a common domain account SPN added to domain account for http/<virthalhost-name>:<port-number> and http/<virtualhost-name>.<fully-qualified-domain>:<port-number> The IIS logs show the following when authentication is working/failing. • Getting Black screen after installing 12.04 on new Mac Pro

  I installed Ubuntu 12.04 on my new Mac Pro. I had some problems because bootcamp did not allow me to partition the hd without a Windows cd. I inserted a Windows cd and did the partition and then I stopped the installation. I completed the installation of Ubuntu that now works. The problem is that Grub can't start Mac OS. It sees the Mac OS X in the menu but if I try to start it I have a black screen or sometime just the boot manager. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

• Sluggish/unresponsive trackpad on pre-unibody MacBook Pro

  I am running Ubuntu Natty Narwhal on pre-unibody MacBook Pro (2007 I believe). There seems to be a problem with trackpad - it barely works, in order to move cursor you have to move your finger a lot, and it terminates the 'gestures' abruptly - say you are moving the cursor with your finger and out of the blue it just stops, although the finger is still in contact with the surface of the trackpad. Those issues seem to dissapear as soon as I boot Mac OS X, so I suspect it is something Ubuntu-specific. Also, if I try to move the cursor with not just fingertip but increase the contact area, it seems to work just fine, although it is hardly convenient.

• Ubuntu and Surface Pro, wifi issues not fixed?

  Just a quick question, from the numerous other threads I found, is the wifi still a no go straight out of installing Ubuntu? I tried this Dual boot Surface Pro with Ubuntu? with 13.04, the wifi is sporadic in working. From that and other threads I gathered that 13.10 would include the fix, so I tossed that onto the Surface as well, with the same results. Is there anything I am missing? Is there any other distro that has better luck with the Marvell chip?

The thing is, when I try to reduce the brightness of my display which would help my battery life dramaticlly is doesnt work. I tried to use the system preference but no succes. I tried to look of it changes something if disconnect the computer from the charge I the screen will dimm but once against I failed. • Booting 11.10 from USB stick on MacBook Pro 5,1 fails

  I've created a bootable memory stick on a Windows computer, and tested it on an HP PC. It's made from a 64-bit image of Ubuntu 11.10, downloaded from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download. When I boot from this memory stick, there is some kind of boot menu, where I can choose to run Ubuntu from the memory stick, or install. I select Run from memory stick. (the words may be wrong here, I'm taking it from memory.) From this point, the screen is black (but backlighted), and I can't do anything but turn off the computer. It gets hot, too. Has anyone been more successful than me? Are there known issues? The computer is a 15 inch MacBook Pro 5,1 (unibody, late 2008), 4 GB memory.

  I have just installed Ubuntu 13.10 on my Toshiba Satellite Pro L650. After several reboots, installing/ uninstalling the broadcom driver I still can't connect. It detects the wi fi signals and the icon flashes as if it's trying to connect but never actually does. • Macbook Pro late 2011 screen brightness issue

  The keys to set the screen brightness work properly but everytime I reboot, the screen brightness is reverted to 100%, which is very annoying. Set your ARC min=max to reserve the maximum amount of your remaining memory for your running VMs. In /etc/system: set zfs:zfs_arc_min = 5368709120 set zfs:zfs_arc_max = 5368709120 The amount you need to reserve will depend on your template but this has proven to be a great start for a typical windows 7 VM running productivity applications.

• How can I personalize my MacBook Pro Touchpad?

  I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on a MacBook Pro 5.5. I'm just wondering if there is something that takes all the kinks out of the touch-pad. It works good, but it feels sluggish, double tap works about 75% of the time and sometimes while I it somehow selects something on a different page (although I'm not sure if that has to deal with the touch-pad and not weird laptop bugs for a new LTS) If there are any programs, apps, commands aside from the built in system preferences mouse and track-pad touch-pad menu that allow someone to "optimize" touch-pad potential.

Somebody suggest what to do? or mention any problems related to this? • Windows 8 on my new i7 Macbook Pro

  Using bootcamp I installed Windows 8 on my new Macbook Pro 15" (not a retina screen version), which has OS X 10.8.2, 2.6 Ghz Core i7 with 8 GB RAM.  I followed the simple procedure outlined here. The only problem I had was the wireless device driver wasn't provided. I had to find and download it myself. Even so it only provided 5G not 2G protocol support. I downloaded a Broadcom driver.   I was able to enable the Hyper-V features on Windows 8 and look forward to using VMs. So far so good :)

• Installed Ubuntu on a macbook pro and am running into errors with internet

  I recently installed Ubuntu (64 bit, 12.04) on a mid-2012 Macbook Pro, and I've been having some really annoying issues. Chief among them is that my wireless doesnt seem to function properly. I've installed Ubuntu on this mac before, and again this time the drivers for the wireless card were missing. I, using something along the lines of sudo su apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer A new problem I've been experiencing however is that none of the networks available in my home show up. I've been able to connect theto themm by going into "Connect to hidden networks" and typing in the network name and password, but when I restart the computer my network (let's just name it "Network1"), doesnt show up. I tried going into "Edit Connections" and it shows up in the wireless tab, but it is never connected to automatically or shows up in the drop-down menu. Any help?
