  • Stop node containing subnodes and text in schema

    If I have some xml like this: <mynode> <mysubnode> <mysubsubnode>hello world</mysubsubnode> some more text </mysubnode> </mynode> As you can see, mysubnode contains both a subnode and some text data. What I want to know is, is it possible to prevent this happening in a schema? I don't want nodes to contain subnodes and text, just subnodes or text. Is there an option in my xsd I can specify to force this? My program to that uses this xml is written in .NET, so I'll tag it as well incase there's anything of use in .net that I can utilise for this, though I'd much rather that the issue was fixed in the schema itself.     Hello. Okay i have two models: posts and comments. as you can think comments has column :post_id. My models Comments belongs_to :post Post has_many :comments So, this is pretty simple association but i have some problems with ordering comments. at first time, when i create my comments migration file i just add column :position. This column indicate comment position in the post. But now i think what where is more good way to do this. so i can't make my choise: 1) uses t.column :datatime :created_at, :default = Time.now() 2) or use timestamps? this is undiscovered for me, please tell me about your exp.

  • How to do comments in Activity Stream? (like Facebook)

    Hi, I'm starting to develop an activity stream. I've read both How to implement the activity stream in a social network and What’s the best manner of implementing a social activity stream?. What I haven't found is the best way to add comments to the activities. As in facebook, each comment can be commented by another person. If each activity comment is saved as another activity, then I would not be able to get the activity of that comment without doing a query. So the solution I'm thinking is to save the comments inside the serialize data field of each activity. If the user wants to delete his comment, I would have to update that activity. Is this the correct solution? Is there a better approach? Thanks!

    I am a graduate software developer for a financial company that uses an old COBOL-like language/flat-file record storage system. The code is completely undocumented, both code comments and overall system design and there is no help on the web (unused outside the industry). The current developers have been working on the system for between 10 and 30 years and are adamant that documentation is unnecessary as you can just read the code to work out what's going on and that you can't trust comments. Why should such a system be documented?

But when it comes to database tables or columns, I have never seen anyone setting some comments, and, to be honest, I don't even think of looking for comments there. So I am wondering if some people are commenting their DB strcuture here, and if I should bother commenting, for instance when I create a new column to an existing table?

  • C# WPF fill datagrid or listview from XML file

    I have a well formed XML file I would like to fill a datagrid with. I would prefer using the AutoGenerate feature of WFPToolKit datagrid, but could hard code the columns in. The trouble I am having is getting the xml file contents into a datagrid. I had it partially working in a listview, but think a datagrid would be more suited for my needs. Can anyone provide a quick example of how to accomplish this? Thanks!

    I am using xjc to convert a schema to java classes. When I am using mixed=true in the schema I am losing the access method for child nodes instead there is a single general content access method.     Hi, I have been busy creating an app for Red5. Imagine what was my surprise when I tried to configure basic/digest authentication and I couldn't. What struck me as strange is that I have a running tomcat instance that works and authenticates correctly with the following xmls: web.xml (part of) <security-constraint> <web-resource-collection> <web-resource-name>A Protected Page</web-resource-name> <url-pattern>/stats.jsp</url-pattern> </web-resource-collection> <auth-constraint> <description/> <role-name>tomcat</role-name> </auth-constraint> </security-constraint> <login-config> <auth-method>DIGEST</auth-method> <realm-name>BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA</realm-name> </login-config> <security-role> <description/> <role-name>tomcat</role-name> </security-role> and a tomcat-users.xml in /conf that looks kinda like this: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <tomcat-users> <role rolename="tomcat"/> <user username="ide" password="bogus" roles="tomcat"/> </tomcat-users> The annoying thing is that configuration authenticates correctly when on tomcat's servlet container, but on the red5's modified one, it just keeps asking for authentication. Am I becoming mad or it should work like a charm? Red5 is version 0_9_1 The stats.jsp is accessible in both servlet containers, the only difference is that when you input the correct password and username in tomcat, you are logged in, and in red5 you are not, it just keeps asking you for the password. Any pointers? Am I missing something? I am using rails atom builder to create a valid atom feed, but when I use xml.tag!("activity:object-type", "http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/person") the atom feed goes blank.On seeing the source I find the correct xml format from what I have found out the ":object" is giving the problem.
