  • One Apache VirtualHost entry overrides another?

    - by johnlai2004
I can't tell why one apache virtual host entry keeps overriding another. The following file // filename: cbl <VirtualHost 74.207.237.23:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName completebeautylist.com ServerAlias www.completebeautylist.com DocumentRoot /srv/www/cbl/production/public_html/ ErrorLog /srv/www/cbl/production/logs/error.log CustomLog /srv/www/cbl/production/logs/access.log combined </VirtualHost> keeps overriding this file // filename: theccco.org <VirtualHost 74.207.237.23:80> SuexecUserGroup "#1010" "#1010" ServerName theccco.org ServerAlias www.theccco.org ServerAlias webmail.theccco.org ServerAlias admin.theccco.org DocumentRoot /home/theccco/public_html ErrorLog /var/log/virtualmin/theccco.org_error_log CustomLog /var/log/virtualmin/theccco.org_access_log combined ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /home/theccco/cgi-bin/ DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php index.php4 index.php5 <Directory /home/theccco/public_html> Options -Indexes +IncludesNOEXEC +FollowSymLinks allow from all AllowOverride All </Directory> <Directory /home/theccco/cgi-bin> allow from all </Directory> RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} =webmail.theccco.org RewriteRule ^(.*) https://theccco.org:20000/ [R] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} =admin.theccco.org RewriteRule ^(.*) https://theccco.org:10000/ [R] Alias /dav /home/theccco/public_html <Location /dav> DAV On AuthType Basic AuthName theccco.org AuthUserFile /home/theccco/etc/dav.digest.passwd Require valid-user ForceType text/plain Satisfy All RewriteEngine off </Location> </VirtualHost> I tried a2ensite, a2dissite, and reloading I get this message * Reloading web server config apache2 apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1 for ServerName [Thu Apr 15 10:47:36 2010] [warn] NameVirtualHost 74.207.237.23:443 has no VirtualHosts Aside from that, I don't know what else could be wrong. Can anyone tell me what to do?

  • nginx projects in subfolders

    - by Timothy
I'm getting frustrated with my nginx configuration and so I'm asking for help in writing my config file to serve multiple projects from sub-directories in the same root. This isn't virtual hosting as they are all using the same host value. Perhaps an example will clarify my attempt: request 192.168.1.1/ should serve index.php from /var/www/public/ request 192.168.1.1/wiki/ should serve index.php from /var/www/wiki/public/ request 192.168.1.1/blog/ should serve index.php from /var/www/blog/public/ These projects are using PHP and use fastcgi. My current configuration is very minimal. server { listen 80 default; server_name localhost; access_log /var/log/nginx/localhost.access.log; root /var/www; index index.php index.html; location ~ \.php$ { fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /var/www$fastcgi_script_name; include fastcgi_params; } } I've tried various things with alias and rewrite but was not able to get things set correctly for fastcgi. It seems there should be a more eloquent way than writing location blocks and duplicating root, index, SCRIPT_FILENAME, etc. Any pointers to get me headed in the right direction are appreciated.

  • EngineX ignores Auth Basic?

    - by Miko
I have configured nginx to password protect a directory using auth_basic. The password prompt comes up and the login works fine. However... if I refuse to type in my credentials, and instead hit escape multiple times in a row, the page will eventually load w/o CSS and images. In other words, continuously telling the login prompt to go away will at some point allow the page to load anyway. Is this an issue with nginx, or my configuration? Here is my virtual host: 31 server { 32 server_name sub.domain.com; 33 root /www/sub.domain.com/; 34 35 location / { 36 index index.php index.html; 37 root /www/sub.domain.com; 38 auth_basic "Restricted"; 39 auth_basic_user_file /www/auth/sub.domain.com; 40 error_page 404 = /www/404.php; 41 } 42 43 location ~ \.php$ { 44 include /usr/local/nginx/conf/fastcgi_params; 45 } 46 } My server runs CentOS + nginx + php-fpm + xcache + mysql

  • How do I keep the keyword.url setting in firefox to default when you restart the browser without del

    - by user34801
I am on the latest version of Firefox (not beta or anything like that) and currently my keyword.url is stuck on search.google.com (which I don't remember setting even though the about:config says it's a user setting. Can someone tell me how to set it back to default and keep it at default when I reset my browser? I do not want to delete prefs.js as I do not want to go thru setting up all the extension settings I have just to have my location bar search google (if this is the only way then I'll stick with searching from the search bar instead). I've checked all my extensions that may effect the location bar but could not find anything that says it would change the default search engine for this. I've also tried to open the prefs.js in wordpad or notepad but it just ends up freezing when trying to edit it at all (yes the browser is closed at the time). I also deleted the prefs-1.js (along with 2 others) that were older (after trying to rename those to prefs.js and see if this corrects it. It might have but had such old extension settings I went back to my latest prefs.js with this one issue instead of the issue of setting back up a ton of extensions. I can give any other info if needed, someone please help me fix this issue if possible.

  • Can two mocha for After Effects X-Spline Layers be merged ?

    - by George Profenza
Hello, I'm new to mocha for After Effects, but like the auto tracking feature. There are a few markers I'm adding, but there's one which is giving me a bit of a headache. I'm tracking a circle that moves around a larger object, so it moves in front of it initially, then behind, being occluded by the larger object, then in front again. I tried to track the circle in the first part(when it's in front, before being occluded) and in the second part(when it's in front again, coming out on the other side of the large object) using a single X-Spline. The problem is the second part starts in a different location and I don't know how to 'move' the X-Spline to the new position and track from there, without affecting the previous keyframes. As a workaround I use two X-Spline Layers, export the data to .txt files, then manually merge the two files into a new one containing keyframes from both X-Spline Layers. Is there an easier way to do this (either merging two X-Spline Layer, or using a single X-Spline Layer that can move to a new location without affecting previous keyframes) ? Any suggestion would help.

  • Nginx wont send POST to fastcgi backend, but GET works fine?

    - by xyld
Not sure why, but it is happy sending a GET to the fastcgi backend (Mercurial hgwebdir in this case), but simply resorts to the filesystem if the request is a POST. Relevant parts of nginx.conf: location / { root /var/www/htdocs/; index index.html; autoindex on; } location /hg { fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/hg-fastcgi.socket; include fastcgi_params; if ($request_uri ~ ^/hg([^?#]*)) { set $rewritten_uri $1; } limit_except GET { allow all; deny all; auth_basic "hg secured repos"; auth_basic_user_file /var/trac.htpasswd; } fastcgi_param SCRIPT_NAME "/hg"; fastcgi_param PATH_INFO $rewritten_uri; # for authentication fastcgi_param AUTH_USER $remote_user; fastcgi_param REMOTE_USER $remote_user; #fastcgi_pass_header Authorization; #fastcgi_intercept_errors on; } GET's work fine, but POST delivers this error to the error_log: 2010/05/17 14:12:27 [error] 18736#0: *1601 open() "/usr/html/hg/test" failed (2: No such file or directory), client: XX.XX.XX.XX, server: domain.com, request: "POST /hg/test HTTP/1.1", host: "domain.com" What could possibly be the issue? I'm trying to allow read-only access via GET's to the page, but require authorization when using hg push to the same url which sends a POST request.

  • Using gitlab behind Apache proxy all generated urls are wrong

    - by Hippyjim
I've set up Gitlab on Ubuntu 12.04 using the default package from https://about.gitlab.com/downloads/ {edit to clarify} I've set up Apache to proxy and run the nginx server the package installed on port 8888 (or so I thought). As I had Apache installed already I have to run nginx on localhost:8888. The problem is, all images (such as avatars) are now served from http://localhost:8888, and all the checkout urls Gitlab gives are also localhost - instead of using my domain name. If I change /etc/gitlab/gitlab.rb to use that url, then Gitlab stops working and gives a 503. Any ideas how I can tell Gitlab what URL to present to the world, even though it's really running on localhost? /etc/gitlab/gitlab.rb looks like: # Change the external_url to the address your users will type in their browser external_url 'http://my.local.domain' redis['port'] = 6379 postgresql['port'] = 2345 unicorn['port'] = 3456 and /opt/gitlab/embedded/conf/nginx.conf looks like: server { listen localhost:8888; server_name my.local.domain; [Update] It looks like nginx is still listening on the wrong port if I don't specify localhost:8888 as the external_url. I found this in /var/log/gitlab/nginx/error.log 2014/08/19 14:29:58 [emerg] 2526#0: bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (98: Address already in use) 2014/08/19 14:29:58 [emerg] 2526#0: bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (98: Address already in use) 2014/08/19 14:29:58 [emerg] 2526#0: bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (98: Address already in use) 2014/08/19 14:29:58 [emerg] 2526#0: bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (98: Address already in use) 2014/08/19 14:29:58 [emerg] 2526#0: bind() to 0.0.0.0:80 failed (98: Address already in use) 2014/08/19 14:29:58 [emerg] 2526#0: still could not bind() Apache setup looks like: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName my.local.domain ServerSignature Off ProxyPreserveHost On AllowEncodedSlashes NoDecode <Location /> ProxyPass http://localhost:8888/ ProxyPassReverse http://127.0.0.1:8888 ProxyPassReverse http://my.local.domain </Location> </VirtualHost> Which seems to proxy everything back ok if Gitlab listens on localhost:8888 - I just need Gitlab to start displaying the right URL, instead of localhost:8888.

  • Relation between server_name in nginx sites-available, /etc/hosts file and A-records

    - by user2818584
I have the following two server-blocks in my config-file in sites-available: server { listen 80; server_name www.mydomain.be; root /usr/share/nginx/html; index index.html index.htm; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ =404; } } server { listen 80; server_name sub.mydomain.be; root /usr/share/nginx/sub; index index.html index.htm; location / { try_files $uri $uri/ =404; } } I also created an A-record for both www.domain.be and sub.domain.be with the IP of my server as value. Yet, when I try to reload my nginx configuration with service nginx reload it fails. When I remove the second server-block, it reloads as expected. I know this topic is popular, and that there are loads of such [nginx][subdomain] questions here, but none of them seems to discuss explicitly how the following three things hang together: virtual hosts or server blocks in nginx (est. server_name matching) the effect of A-records on how nginx processes requests the need to add hosts to /etc/hosts Right now I have the impression that a lack of knowledge of this bigger picture, rather than specific knowledge of nginx configuration prevents me from making this work.

  • SVN Authentication with LDAP and Active Directory

    - by Alex Holsgrove
I am having a few problems getting SVN authentication to work with LDAP / Active Directory. My SVN installation works fine, but after enabling LDAP in my apache vhost, I just can't get my users to authenticate. I can use a selection of LDAP browsers to successfully connect to Active Directory, but just can't seem to get this to work. SVN is setup in /var/local/svn Server is svn.domain.local For testing, my repository is /var/local/svn/test My vhost file is as follows: <VirtualHost *:80> ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerAlias svn.domain.local ServerName svn.domain.local DocumentRoot /var/www/svn/ <Location /test> DAV svn #SVNListParentPath On SVNPath /var/local/svn/test AuthzSVNAccessFile /var/local/svn/svnaccess AuthzLDAPAuthoritative off AuthType Basic AuthName "SVN Server" AuthBasicProvider ldap AuthLDAPBindDN "CN=adminuser,OU=SBSAdmin Users,OU=Users,OU=MyBusiness,DC=domain,DC=local" AuthLDAPBindPassword "admin password" AuthLDAPURL "ldap://192.168.1.6:389/OU=SBSUsers,OU=Users,OU=MyBusiness,DC=domain,DC=local?sAMAccountName?sub?(objectClass=*)" Require valid-user </Location> CustomLog /var/log/apache2/svn/access.log combined ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/svn/error.log </VirtualHost> In my error.log, I don't seem to get any bind errors (should I be looking elsewhere?), but just the following: [Thu Jun 21 09:51:38 2012] [error] [client 192.168.1.142] user alex: authentication failure for "/test/": Password Mismatch, referer: http://svn.domain.local/test/ At the end of "AuthLDAPURL", I have seen people using TLS and NONE but neither seem to help in my case. I have the ldap modules loaded and have checked as much as I know, so any help would be most welcome. Thanks

  • Move the uploads folder in Wordpress

    - by Victor Hurdugaci
    Currently, my Wordpress' upload folder is located in \wp-content\uploads. Initially there was no structure so all files were put there. After a while it was changed to upload the files in \wp-content\uploads\YEAR\MONTH. Now that folder contains a mix of files (those starting with + are folders) like: +wp-content | +2010 | | +02 | | | File-1 | | | File-2 | | | .. | | | File-n | | +01 | | | File-1 | | | File-2 | | | .. | | | File-n | +2009 | | +12 | | | File-1 | | | File-2 | | | .. | | | File-n | | +11 | | | File-1 | | | File-2 | | | .. | | | File-n | +.. | | | .. | Unstructured-file-1 | Unstructured-file-2 | ... | Unstructured-file-n Based on the dates of the unstructured files, I would like to move them in a structured hierarchy (based on date, move it to a folder \wp-content\uploads\YEAR\MONTH). Now, my questions are: Where do I write and execute a script to the movement (I don't have full access to the server, just to a cPanel and to the Wordpress Admin page)? What must be updated so that the links in posts, that reference the unstructured files, point to the new location of those files? Not fully related to the previous description: is it alright to move the whole uploads folder to another location, like \uploads? PS: Moving the files/updating the database manually is not an option :)

  • Change the Powershell $profile directory

    - by Swoogan
I would like to know how to change my the location my $profile variable points to. PS H:\> $profile H:\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1 H:\ is a network share, so when I create my profile file, and load powershell I get the following: Security Warning Run only scripts that you trust. While scripts from the Internet can be useful, this script can potentially harm your computer. Do you want to run H:\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1? [D] Do not run [R] Run once [S] Suspend [?] Help (default is "D"): According to Microsoft, the location of the $profile is determined by the %USERPROFILE% environment variable. This is not true: PS H:\> $env:userprofile C:\Users\username For example, I have an XP machine working how I want: PS H:\> $profile C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1 PS H:\> $env:userprofile C:\Documents and Settings\username PS H:\> $env:homedrive H: PS H:\> $env:homepath \ Here's the same output from the Vista machine where the $profile points to the wrong place: PS H:\> $profile H:\WindowsPowerShell\Microsoft.PowerShell_profile.ps1 PS H:\> $env:userprofile C:\Users\username PS H:\> $env:homedrive H: PS H:\> $env:homepath \ Since $profile isn't actually determined by %USERPROFILE% how do I change it? Clearly anything that involves changing the homedrive or homepath is not the solution I'm looking for.

  • nginx reverse proxy to apache mod_wsgi doesn't work

    - by user11243
I'm trying to run a django site with apache mod-wsgi with nginx as the front-end to reverse proxy into apache. In my Apache ports.conf file: NameVirtualHost 192.168.0.1:7000 Listen 192.168.0.1:7000 <VirtualHost 192.168.0.1:7000> DocumentRoot /var/apps/example/ ServerName example.com WSGIDaemonProcess example WSGIProcessGroup example Alias /m/ /var/apps/example/forum/skins/ Alias /upfiles/ /var/apps/example/forum/upfiles/ <Directory /var/apps/example/forum/skins> Order deny, allow Allow from all </Directory> WSGIScriptAlias / /var/apps/example/django.wsgi </VirtualHost> In my nginx config: server { listen 80; server_name example.com; location / { include /usr/local/nginx/conf/proxy.conf; proxy_pass http://192.168.0.1:7000; proxy_redirect default; root /var/apps/example/forum/skins/; } #error_page 404 /404.html; # redirect server error pages to the static page /50x.html error_page 500 502 503 504 /50x.html; location = /50x.html { root html; } } After restarting both apache and nginx, nothing works, example.com simply hangs or serves index.html in my /var/www/ folder. I'd appreciate any advice to point me in the right direction. I've tried several tutorials online to no avail.

  • Windows VPN for remote site connection drawbacks

    - by Damo
I'm looking for some thoughts on a particular way of setting up a estate of machines. We have a requirement to install machines into unmanned, remote locations. These machines will auto login and perform tasks controlled from a central server. In order to manage patching, AV, updates etc I want these machines to be joined to a dedicated domain for this estate. Some of the locations will only have 3G connectivity (via other hardware), others will be located on customer premises in internal networks. The central server (of ours) and the Domain Controller will be on a public WAN. I see two ways of facilitating this. Install a router at each location and have a site to site VPN between the remove device and the data centre where the servers are location Have the remote machine dial up and authenticate via a Windows VPN connection to the DC via RAS Option one is more costly to setup and has a higher operational cost. It also offers better diagnostics if the remote PC goes down. Option two works well but is solely dependent on the VPN connection been made before any communication can be made to the remote machine. In a simple test, I can got a Windows 7 machine to dial a VPN prior to authentication to a domain, then automatically login to the machine using domain credentials. If the VPN connection drops, it redials. I can also create a timed task to auto connect every hour in case of other issues. I'd like to know, why (if at all) is operating a remote network of devices which are located in various out of band locations in this way a bad idea? Consider 300-400 remote machines all at different sites. I'd rather have 400 VPN connections to a 2008 server than 400 routers, however I'd like to know other opinions on this.

  • Two different subwoofers aren't working on my machine or my phone

    - by Philluminati
I have speakers that come with my computer. Two small desktop speakers and a subwoofer with a base volume control on the back. It's worked for years. I was listening to Spotify on my speakers as loud they would possibly go and with the base turned up to max and suddenly the subwoofer stopped working. I've plugged the speakers into my Android HTC Desire Z handset and again, the desktop speakers play music but the subwoofer doesn't (even after fiddling with the volume control). So I figured I'd broken it. I went to Amazon and bought a replacement one. I bought this one: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002N46YD8/ref=pe_217191_31005151_dp_1 but it doesn't work either, on either my desktop nor my Android phone. I had a play with alsamixer and the LFE and center controls are switched on and the speakers are okay... but still no base. Am I unlucky enough to bought a new subwoofer which is already broken out of the box or is there something else which is wrong and I could look into please? Are there any other tests which I could perform to see if the problem is me or not?

  • XCOPY access denied error on My Documents folder

    - by Ryan M.
Here's the situation. We have a file server set up at \fileserver\ that has a folder for every user at \fileserver\users\first.last I'm running an xcopy command to backup the My Documents folder from their computer to their personal folder. The command I'm running is: xcopy "C:\Users\%username%\My Documents\*" "\\fileserver\users\%username%\My Documents" /D /E /O /Y /I I've been silently running this script at login without the users knowing, just so I can get it to work before telling them what it does. After I discovered it wasn't working, I manually ran the batch script that executes the xcopy command on one of their computers and get an access denied error. I then logged into a test account on my own computer and got the same error. I checked all the permissions for the share and security and they're set to how I want them. I can manually browse to that folder and create new files. I can drag and drop items into the \fileserver\users\first.last location and it works great. So I try something else to try and find the source of the access denied problem. I ran an xcopy command to copy the My Documents folder to a different location on the same machine and I still got the access denied error! So xcopy seems to be denied access when it tries to copy the My Documents folder. Any suggestions on how I can get this working? Anyone know the reason behind the access denied error?

  • nginx with ssl: I get a 403 and log "directory index of '...dir...' is forbidden" log message. works fine with unencrypted connection

As mentioned in the title, I had nginx working fine with my rails app, until I tried to add the ssl server. The unencrypted connection still works but the ssl always returns me a 403 page with the following line in the error log: directory index of "/home/user/rails/" is forbidden, client: [my ip], server: _, request: "GET / HTTP/1.1", host: "[server ip]" Below my nginx.conf server block: server { listen 80; listen 443 ssl; ssl_certificate /etc/ssl/server.crt; ssl_certificate_key /etc/ssl/server.key; client_max_body_size 4G; keepalive_timeout 5; root /home/user/rails; try_files $uri/index.html $uri.html $uri @app; location @app { proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto $scheme; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_redirect off; proxy_pass http://0.0.0.0:8080; } error_page 500 502 503 504 /500.html; location = /500.html { root /home/user/rails; } } the /home/user/rails directory and it's parent have all read to all rights. and they belong to the user nginx. the certificate and key file have the following rights: -rw-r--r-- 1 nginx root 830 Nov 8 09:09 server.crt -rw--w---- 1 nginx root 887 Nov 8 09:09 server.key any clue?

  • nginx - proxy_pass is working - Apache isn't doing what it should...

    - by matthewsteiner
So, I've got this in my nginx.conf: location ~* ^.+.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|ico|css|zip|tgz|gz|rar|bz2|doc|xls|exe|pdf|ppt|txt|tar|mid|midi|wav|bmp|rtf|js)$ { root /var/www/vhosts/example.com/public/; access_log off; expires 30d; } location / { proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1:8080/; proxy_redirect off; proxy_set_header Host $host; proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; } So anything that is a "static file" that exists will just be done with nginx. Otherwise, it should pass it off to Apache. Right now, static files are working correctly. However, if something is passed to apache and it's example.com or subdomain.example.com, apache just spits out the "Apache 2 Test Page" that you get if there's nothing there. Apache worked fine before, so I'm guessing it has to do with the way nginx is "asking". I'm not sure though. Any ideas?

  • Mechanism behind user forwarding in ScriptAliasMatch

    - by jolivier
I am following this tutorial to setup gitolite and at some point the following ScriptAliasMatch is used: ScriptAliasMatch \ "(?x)^/(.*/(HEAD | \ info/refs | \ objects/(info/[^/]+ | \ [0-9a-f]{2}/[0-9a-f]{38} | \ pack/pack-[0-9a-f]{40}\.(pack|idx)) | \ git-(upload|receive)-pack))$" \ /var/www/bin/gitolite-suexec-wrapper.sh/$1 And the target script starts with USER=$1 So I am guessing this is used to forward the user name from apache to the suexec script (which indeed requires it). But I cannot see how this is done. The ScriptAliasMatch documentation makes me think that the /$1 will be replaced by the first matching group of the regexp before it. For me it captures from (?x)^/(.* to ))$ so there is nothing about a user here. My underlying problem is that USER is empty in my script so I get no authorizations in gitolite. I give my username to apache via a basic authentication: <Location /> # Crowd auth AuthType Basic AuthName "Git repositories" ... Require valid-user </Location> defined just under the previous ScriptAliasMatch. So I am really wondering how this is supposed to work and what part of the mechanism I missed so that I don't retrieve the user in my script.

  • switchover in postgresql

    - by user1010280
I am using Postgresql 9.0 with Streaming replication. So, during switchover I follow these steps:- Get the server timestamp on primary. Get the current log position on primary. Set Verify Log location Verify Transaction Received Location Shutdown DB on production. Synchronize the transaction logs from PR to DR. Trigger a failover on the DR Database by creating the trigger file specified in recovery.conf Verify DB Mode on DR Copy the control file from from DR to primary. copy the temporary stats file from DR to primary. copy the history file from DR to primary. Create recovery.conf file. Start Database in standby mode in primary. Verify DB mode on PR At step (6), I have to copy last wal generated on Primary to standby and sync both PR and standby. but this thing takes time to copy files because this remote. So that postgres will keep seraching for wal for long time and after that it stops the server. So I want to know is there any way so that I can ask postgres to stop seraching or locating WAL after shutdown??? because postgres tries to locate this wal every 5 seconds. Please reply as soon as possible..its urgent...

sorry for my poor english. i just set up wordpress on my vps, so far its the only item on my site. there for seo reason, i think is better redirect all primary domain to the blog folder. primary domain is example.com wordpress is at example.com/blog what i want is rewrite www.example.com and example.com to example.com/blog. googled got some scripts, and make some change paste into nginx config file. here is: #301 redirect www to non-www server { server_name www.example.com; location = / { rewrite ^/(.*) http://example.com/$1 permanent; } } #301 non-www to subfolder server { server_name example.com; location = / { rewrite ^/(.*) http://example.com/blog$1 permanent; } } it works at some degree, successfully redirect to example.com/blog. the only problem is i get 404 not found error. then i only make nginx redirect www to example.com/blog. ok, this time i can access blog page. i know there is something wrong in the non-www to subfolder script. but do not how to fix it :(

  • Simple way to set up port knocking on Linux?

    - by Ace Paus
There are well known benefits of Port Knocking utilities when utilized in combination with firewall IP table modification. Port Knocking is best used to provide an additional layer of security over other tools such as the OpenSSH server. I would like some help setting it up on a ubuntu server. I looked at some port knocking implementations here: PORTKNOCKING - A system for stealthy authentication across closed ports. IMPLEMENTATIONS http://www.portknocking.org/view/implementations fwknop looked good. I found an Android client here. And fwknop (both client and server) is in the ubuntu repos. Unfortunately, setting it up (on the server) looks difficult. I do not have iptables set up. My proficiency with iptables is limited (but I understand the basics). I'm looking for a series of simple steps to set it up. I only want to open the SSH port in response to a valid knock. Alternatively, I would consider other port knocking implementations, if they are much simpler to set up and the desired Linux and Android clients are available.

  • Nginx map module 301 redirecting

    - by Reinier Korth
    I've rebuild my website in Ruby on Rails and now I want to 301 redirect a lot of old urls using Nginx's http://wiki.nginx.org/HttpMapModule For some reason I can't get it to work. It works fine without the rewrite ^ $new permanent; line. Does anyone see what I'm missing? This my nginx.conf: server { server_name example.com; return 301 $scheme://www.example.com$request_uri; } # 301 redirect list map $uri $new { /test123 http://www.example.com/test123; /bla http://www.example.com/bladiebla; } server { server_name www.example.com; rewrite ^ $new permanent; root example/public; location ^~ /assets/ { gzip_static on; expires max; add_header Cache-Control public; } try_files $uri/index.html $uri @unicorn; location @unicorn { proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_redirect off; proxy_pass http://unicorn-<%= application %>; } error_page 500 502 503 504 /500.html; client_max_body_size 4G; keepalive_timeout 10; }

  • Connecting to same public IP from different locations yields different results

    - by DHall
Since yesterday I've been unable to access one of my favorite time-wasting sites, boston.com. It starts to load but then it gets redirected to pagesinxt or something like that. After some investigation, I've narrowed it down to an issue with cache.boston.com, but only from my work location. I found the IP (216.38.160.107) , but even that doesn't work correctly from here at work. When I do a telnet 216.38.160.107 80 GET http://cache.boston.com/universal/css/hp_bgcom.css from another location, I get a nice long CSS, as expected. From here, I get an error (trimmed for size): HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request Your request could not be processed. Request could not be handled This could be caused by a misconfiguration, or possibly a malformed request. For assistance, contact your network support team. Is there any way I can troubleshoot this further on my end? Tracert doesn't tell me anything too useful: Tracing route to vwrpx1.ttn.xpc-mii.net [216.38.160.107] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 * * * Request timed out. Since it's not really work-related, I don't really want to bring it up to our network team unless I know what's going on, or if there's some risk to the network (ex. malware or something)

  • apache adress based access control

    - by stijn
I have an apache instance serving different locations, eg https://host.com/jira https://host.com/svn https://host.com/websvn https://host.com/phpmyadmin Each of these has access control rules based on ip adres/hostname. Some of them use the same configuration though, so I have to repeat the same rules each time: Order Deny,Allow Deny from All Allow from 10.35 myhome.com mycollegueshome.com Is there a way to make these reusable so that I don't have to change each instance everytime something changes? Ie, can I write this once, then use it for a couple of locations? Using SetEnvIf maybe? It would be nice if I could do something like this pseudo-config: <myaccessrule> Order Deny,Allow Deny from All Allow from 10.35 myhome.com mycollegueshome.com </myaccessrule> <Proxy /jira*> AccessRule = myaccessrule </Proxy> <Location /svn> AccessRule = myaccessrule </Location> <Directory /websvn> AccessRule = myaccessrule </Directory>

    nginx with php-fpm on ubuntu 12.04 server. attempting to access /var/www/test.php (via https://example.net/test.php) downloads the script instead of executing it. if I place the test.php in a subdirectory, i.e. /var/www/test/test.php it executes. root.conf; root /var/www; include php-fpm.conf; location ~ /\. { access_log off; log_not_found off; deny all; } php-fpm.conf; location ~ \.php$ { try_files $uri =404; fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.socket; include fastcgi_params; } fastcgi_params; fastcgi_param QUERY_STRING $query_string; fastcgi_param REQUEST_METHOD $request_method; fastcgi_param CONTENT_TYPE $content_type; fastcgi_param CONTENT_LENGTH $content_length; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param HTTPS on; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $document_root$fastcgi_script_name; #fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME $request_filename; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_NAME $fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_param REQUEST_URI $request_uri; fastcgi_param DOCUMENT_URI $document_uri; fastcgi_param DOCUMENT_ROOT $document_root; fastcgi_param SERVER_PROTOCOL $server_protocol; fastcgi_param GATEWAY_INTERFACE CGI/1.1; fastcgi_param SERVER_SOFTWARE nginx/$nginx_version; fastcgi_param REMOTE_ADDR $remote_addr; fastcgi_param REMOTE_PORT $remote_port; fastcgi_param SERVER_ADDR $server_addr; fastcgi_param SERVER_PORT $server_port; fastcgi_param SERVER_NAME $server_name; # PHP only, required if PHP was built with --enable-force-cgi-redirect fastcgi_param REDIRECT_STATUS 200;
