  • how to manage formating of text when read a save file?

    hello i have a java applet application in which i use rich text area . i write URDU the national language of PAKISTAN. i managed to do so with uni codes. the problem is, when i write urdu in text area and select a font and color for each line it do all of this but when i save this file using UTF-8 encoding and then open it again it shows all text formatted as i choose format of last line. my requirement is to open file as it is saved. i mean each file should have same formatting as i done before saving.

    Hello, I have an undirected, unweighted graph, which doesn't have to be planar. I also have a subset of graph's nodes (true subset) and I need to find a node not belonging to the subset, with minimum sum of distances to all nodes in the subset. So far, I have implemented breath-first search starting from each node in the subset, and the intersection that occurs first is the node I am looking for. Unfortunately, it is running too slow since the graph contains a large number of nodes. Any advice or comment will be appreciated. Thank you, Nikola

  • Switching layouts page jumping (improvement to script)

    Hello, I'm using this script to switch layouts in a page: $("span.switcher").click(function () { $("span.switcher").toggleClass("swap"); /*!*/ $("ol.search-results").fadeOut("fast", function() { $(this).fadeIn("fast").toggleClass("grid"); }); The script works fine, the problem I have is that if the switch view is down the page, the layout changes and then the page jumps back up. If I add 'return false' right where you see the /* ! */ in the second line the script doesn't work. Also, as you can see, I'm using < span instead of < a since I was told that using other element other than < a would stop the page from jumping. Any idea how to fix the jumping of the page? Thanks.

    Hello I have a business class which I need to serialize to xml. It has a BitArray property. I have decorated it with [XmlAttribute] but the serialization is failing with To be XML serializable, types which inherit from ICollection must have an implementation of Add(System.Boolean) at all levels of their inheritance hierarchy. System.Collections.BitArray does not implement Add(System.Boolean). I am not sure whether its possible to serialize to xml? If not what would be an efficient means of serializing the BitArray Thanks for looking

    Hello, I have used sessions before but never cookies. I would like to use cookies for two reasons: 1) it's something new to learn 2) I would like to have the cookie expire in an hour or so (i know in the code example it expires in 40 sec) I am trying to write a basic if statement that if($counter=="1") { //do this second } elseif ($counter >="2") { //do this every time after the first and second } else {// this is the first action as counter is zero } Here is the code I'm using to set the cookie: // if cookie doesnt exsist, set the default if(!isset($_COOKIE["counter_cookie"])) { $counter = setcookie("counter_cookie", 0 ,time()+40); } // increment it $counter++; // save it setcookie("counter_cookie", $counter,time()+40); $counter = $_COOKIE["counter_cookie"]; The problem is that the counter will be set from 0 to 1 but won't be set from 1 to 2 and so on.     Hello, I have a simple file browser and there I display files and folders, obtained by (for directory) SHFILEINFO info = new SHFILEINFO(); SHGetFileInfo(filename, FILE_ATTRIBUTE_DIRECTORY, ref info,Marshal.SizeOf(info), SHGFI_ICON | SHGFI_USEFILEATTRIBUTES | SHGFI_SMALLICON | SHGFI_ADDOVERLAYS); It works 100% fine, but I have noticed an oddity - if I try to obtain an icon for directory, but specify FILE_ATTRIBUTE_NORMAL instead of FILE_ATTRIBUTE_DIRECTORY but it does weird stuff for directories - normal folders have "unknown file type white paper" icons, recycle bin has VLC icon, etc. Directories under SVN have proper overlay, but base file icon (white sheet of paper). I understand that base icon for directory would now be the one of unknown file, but why do some folders have totally strange icon? Config.MSI has installer icon, recycle bin has VLC icon (wtf?!), etc. What does the shell function do with this parameters? Exactly what icon does it obtain? Again, this is not a problem, I'm just curious.

I need to "Post" some data to an external website using HttpWebRequest object from my application(desktop) and get a response back into my application through HttpWebResponse object.   • Session troubles when used on BT hosting

    Hello I have developed a site for a client with a pre-existing BT hosting package. Since going live there has been a problem where $_session loses it's data between pages. I have previously fixed the problem, but somehow it has become unfixed. Last time this problem happened, my research indicated that there is something funny with BT's setup when using sessions, and that article provided this code: if(ini_get('register_globals') == 1) if(is_array($_SESSION)) foreach(array_keys($_SESSION) as $var_to_kill) unset($$var_to_kill); Which even though it looks broken to me, did in fact reduce the problem to a very low level. (i.e one drop out a day). However, today my client is in touch again and surprise surprise, the problem is back. Does anyone know of a solution? (My client has already stated they will not change hosts!) Oliver

    Hello. well.. I use red5 and setting/getting attributes using the IConnection class but tha's really not relevant. 'L' means long in java. so 0L is 0 type Long instead of just '0' which is 0 type Integer. the following error message: stack trace: java.lang.ClassCastException: [Ljava.lang.Long; cannot be cast to java.lang.Long what's the difference between [Ljava.lang.Long and java.lang.Long ? thanks!

    Hello, This question mixes client-side scripting with server-side parsing. In some cases, I'm writing a cookie to the user's browser using the document.cookie property. In other cases, I'm writing the same cookie to the user's browser through the ASP.NET Response object. When I'm writing the HttpCookie on the server-side, I am using the Values collection (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/library/system.web.httpcookie.values%28v=VS.80%29.aspx) to store key/value pairs in the cookie. I would also like to be able to write key-value pairs to the cookie through JavaScript. How do I create cookies with Key/Value pairs via JavaScript that ASP.NET can parse? Thank you!

    Hello. I am writing python chatbot that displays output through console. Every half second it asks server for updates, and responds to message. In the console I can see chat log. This is sufficient in most cases, however, sometimes I want to interrupt normal workflow and write custom chat answer myself.     Hello, I have the following code: NSNumber *number = [NSNumber numberWithInt:5]; int i = [number retainCount]; [number release]; i = [number retainCount]; [number release]; i = [number retainCount]; the problem is that in line 2 , the value of parameter i is 2 and in line 4 the value is 1. then in line 6 the value is still 1.???????? first i dont understand why after init *number the retaincount is 2 and not 1?? second i dont understand why after release it 2 times retaincount is not 0? it doesnt matter how many times i release the object the retaincount stay 1.

    Hello, I want to know if it is possible to end a for loop in C++ when an ending condition (different from the reacheing right number of iterations) is verified. For instance: for (int i = 0; i < maxi; ++i) for (int j = 0; j < maxj; ++j) // But if i == 4 < maxi AND j == 3 < maxj, // then jump out of the two nested loops. I know that this is possible in Perl with the next LABEL or last LABEL calls and labeled blocks, is it possible to do it in C++ or I should use a while loop? Thank you.

    Hello I've got an application which serves an rss feed of headlines and I need to provide this rss feed to other consumers. I don't want to provide the rss directly from my server though, due to limited server resources, so I need to proxy (cache) it through some service which will handle the load. Assuming the rss feed URL of my application is http://example.com/rss I initially provided my consumers with the url http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/feed/load?v=1.0&q=http%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Frss which solved my server load problem but introduced a liveness problem. The headlines are minutes to hours late from the actual feed (haven't exactly measured how much late). I've also tried distributing through feedburner so the url became something like http://feeds.feedburner.com/example123?format=xml but the liveness problem still exists. Is there a public and free solution for this problem? Anything below 5 minutes of liveness delay would be totally acceptable. thanks

    Hello, I have a problem with a html select object and its options in IE. My html <select id="Select1" onchange="closeMenu1(this.value)"> <option></option> <option>1</option> <option>2</option> And the javascript function closeMenu1 (x) { var show = document.getElementById("divID"); show.innerHTML = x; } Now, in every browser except the IEs the divID will show up the value which I selected in the select object. But IE doesn’t. Can somebody please tell me a way around that? Thanks.
