• Python, SWIG and other strange things

  hey, I have a firmware for an USB module I can already control by visual C. Now I want to port this to python. for this I need the octopus library which is written in c. So when working with the USB device the octopus.py is the library to work with!   Hi All, I am trying to acquaint myself on Mysql syntax. I only have used MSSQL so far. • Serverside image processing

  I am designing a web application that does server side image processing in real time. Processing tasks include applying different effects like grayscale, blur, oil paint, pencil sketch etc on images in various formats. I want to build it using java/servlets which I am already familiar with. I found 3 options, 1) Use pure java imaging libraries like java.awt or http://www.jhlabs.com/ip/index.html 2) Use command line tools like Gimp/ImageMagick 3) Use c,c++ image libraries that have java bindings. I don't know which of the above options is good keeping the performance in mind. It looks like option 2) and 3) are good performance wise, but I want to be sure before I rule out 1). I have also heard gimp cannot be run using command line unless gtk or xwindows is already installed on the server. Will there be any such problems with 2) or 3) while running them server side? Also please suggest any good image processing libraries for this purpose.

• Parse values from a text file in C

  Say I have written to a text file in this format: key1/value1 key2/value2 akey/withavalue anotherkey/withanothervalue I have a linked list like: struct Node { char *key; char *value; struct Node *next; }; to hold the values. How would I read key1 and value1? I was thinking of putting line by line in a buffer and using strtok(buffer, '/'). Would that work? What other ways could work, maybe a bit faster or less prone to error? Please include a code sample if you can!

• Why doesn't the AdditionalLibPaths parameter work in MSBuild?

  I am trying to specify an additional folder to look for references when doing a command-line compile with MSBuild. The command line is as follows: msbuild C:\LUR.NET\LurReports.sln /t:Rebuild /p:AdditionalLibPaths=C:\Radio;TargetFrameworkVersion=v2.0 For whatever reasons, msbuild completely ignores the C:\Radio folder when looking for references. What am I missing here? P.S. I should mention that this box does not have Visual Studio installed. And the .sln is in version VS2008 and I am compiling it against .NET 2.0. P.S. I also tried placing double quotes around the path. Did not make a difference.

I found an article from the Eclipse.org marketing director where he states: "An organization that is 100% Microsoft probably won't/shouldn't consider Eclipse RCP." A colleague pointed out that this article was posted in 2005, so i was wondering if Microsoft has a competing product by now, and if not, why not?

• prevent UIWebView inputs from displaying UIKeyboard without disabling user interaction

  I have a UIWebView that loads and external product configuration web service UI that is basically a bunch of dependent Drop Down lists. The problem is the Drop Downs are basically enhanced text input's so when the user taps them to display the options the UIKeyboard keeps popping up and own after they make their selection. it is less than a fluid process. Is there anyway to suppress the html inputs from triggering the UIKeyboard?

• C#: How to change the region containing MDI children?

  When creating a MDI parent, the entire "inside" of the form is made the MDI region. If you add a menustrip to the MDI parent, the MDI region is scaled down a bit to make room for the menustrip. But if you add a panel to the top of the MDI parent, the entire inside is still the MDI region. Which means that you can move MDI children up behind the panel, and hide their title line. If you move MDI children behind a menustrip, scrollbars appear, and you can scroll higher up to access the title line. But the scrollbars doesn't appear when you are using a panel instead of a menustrip. Because the MDI region doesn't know about the panel, I suppose. How can I scale the MDI region to start below a given Y value?

  Some file read (readlines()) functions in Python copy the file contents to memory (as a list) I need to process a file that's too large to be copied in memory and as such need to use a file pointer (to access the file one byte at a time) -- as in C getc(). The additional requirement I have is that I'd like to rewind the file pointer to previous bytes like in C ungetc(). Is there a way to do this in Python? Also, in Python, I can read one line at a time with readline() Is there a way to read the previous line going backward?

• c# Windows Service not appearing in services list after install

  I've created a windows service in c#, using Visual Studio 2008 I pretty much followed this: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/dotnet/simplewindowsservice.aspx I created a setup project, as instructed to in the article, and ran it... it installs my service to c:\program files\product etc.... however, it does not then appear in the services list.. What am i missing?

  I can't solve it: You are given 8 integers: A, B, C representing a line on a plane with equation A*x + B*y = C a, b, c representing another line x, y representing a point on a plane The two lines are not parallel therefore divide plane into 4 pieces. Point (x, y) lies inside of one these pieces. Problem: Write a fast algorithm that will find a point with integer coordinates in the same piece as (x,y) that is closest to the cross point of the two given lines. Note: This is not a homework, this is old Euler-type task that I have absolutely no idea how to approach.

• How to extend WPF hit testing zone for a Path object.

  Wpf hit testing is pretty good but the only method I found to extend the hit zone is to put a transparent padding area around your object. I can't find any method to add a transparent area arround a Path object. The path is very thin and I would like to enable hit testing if the user clicks near the path. I can't find any method to extend the path object with a transparent area like the image below : I tried to used a partially transparent stroke brush but I ran into the problem described here : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1412833/how-can-i-draw-a-soft-line-in-wpf-presumably-using-a-lineargradientbrush I also tried to put an adorner over my line but because of WPF anti-aliasing algorithms, the position is way off when I zoom in my canvas and interfere with other objects hit-testing in a bad way. • dismissModalViewControllerAnimated: crashes in Simulator but not on phone

  I'm doing the following: [self.parentViewController dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES] This code fails using the Simulator but works with no issues on the phone itself. The Simulator's console shows no erros. I used NSLog statements to pinpoint this line of code as the culprit. When running on the phone, however, the console(windoworganizer) shows that the above code is executed and the application proceeds forward with no problem. When running the code in debugger, the following statement appears at the bottom of the Xcode debug window: GDB: Data Formatters temporarily unavailable, will re-try after a 'continue'. (Not safe to call dlopen at this time.) Then a window dispalys stating: Loading 43672 stack frames. (that sounds bad) In the debug window the following line appears numerous times: [UIView(Hierarchy) _makeSubtreePerformSelector:withObject:withObject:copySublayers:] Without getting too deep into my code, does anyone know about or have experience with this type of condition? • Unicenter Software Delivery 4 not able to connect to MS SQL 2000 Database after W2003 SP2 upgrade

  Hello Everyone Yesterday I installed the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Server 2003 which has Unicenter Software Delivery 4 installed. Prior to the installation I disabled every CA service on the server (Brightstor, SDO , RCO, TNG) and the MS SQL 2000 service. After the installation of the SP2 I enabled the services again but the Unicenter Service is not able to connect to the MS SQL 2000 Database anymore. The database itself is up and running and I can connect to it with the Enterprise Manager. A dbcc checkdb doesnt return any errors on the Unicenter database. • NSInteger differences between CLI and GUI ?

  I've been building a framework and writing unit tests in GHUnit. One of my Framework's accessor methods returns an NSInteger. I assert the expected value in the tests like this: GHAssertEquals(1320, request.port, @"Port number should be 1320"); When running my tests with an AppKit UI based frontend this assertion passes. However, when I run my tests on the command line, it fails with a type-mismatch unless I type-cast my hard-coded 1320 as (NSInteger). What's causing the difference in the way the integer is being interpreted by the compiler? Is xcodebuild on the command line using a different data-type for hard coded integers?

  Say I have this perl "program" called simple.pl: #!/usr/bin/perl use xyz; # xyz is bogus and doesn't exist And I also have this "program", called simple2.pl: #!/usr/bin/perl system("simple.pl"); my $abc = `simple2.pl`; printf("abc %s\n", $abc); for both system and backtick, I get this message: Can't exec "simple.pl": No such file or directory at scripts/perl/simple2.pl line 7. Can't exec "simple2.pl": No such file or directory at scripts/perl/simple2.pl line 9. Not very useful for the user calling simple2.pl. Is there a way to get a more useful message?

  Can Castle ActiveRecord do optimistic locking on properties? I found optimistic locking for the entire class, but not for an individual property. In my case, I need to make it so that adding/removing elements in a collection does not update the version number of the entity (so for example, adding a Product to a Store without changing any of Store's properties will not increment the version number).

  Hello, I was trying some stuff executing console applications when I found this problem handling the I/O of the ftp.exe command that everybody has into the computer.
