    Should we always try to not to give "height" to elements in XHTML through CSS? if yes the i think min-height would be better idea instead of fixed height. What cross browser( including IE6), W3C valid css, non-javascript "min-height" method in css? if i add min-height to any tag example <div> then in future in more content comes in then will we have to change height of div or if min-height is defined then no need.

  • scrollTo (jQuery) won't work in firefox

    For some reason, firefox seems to ignore my scrollTo function even though it works in chrome and safari. Here's an example link: http://blog.rainbird.me/post/2358248459/blowholes-are-awesome Chrome and Safari will automatically scroll to the top of the image (with an offset of 20 pixels) It doesn't work in firefox.     As 359494 indicates they are basically identical except '===' also ensures type equality and hence '==' might perform type conversion. In Douglas Crockford's JavaScript: The Good Parts, it is advised to always avoid '=='. However, I'm wondering what the original thought of designing two set of equality operators was. Have you seen any situation that using '==' actually is more suitable than using '==='?

  • ASP.NET Master Page + pageLoad() = kills jquery?

    In my MasterPage, I have a ScriptManager that has a ScriptReference to my jquery.js file. This has always worked with no problems, all content pages that utilize jquery work fine. Recently, I added the following javascript script block at the end of my MasterPage: function pageLoad(sender, args) { } By simply adding the above pageLoad method, no jquery code is executed from any of my content pages. Why would just having a pageLoad in the Master Page have this effect? Thanks in advance for any insight.

  • Workaround for stopping propagation with live()?

    I've run into the problem that has been addressed here without a workaround: I can't use stopPropagation() on dynamically spawned elements. I've tried creating a condition to exclude a click within the dimensions of the spawned element, but that doesn't seem to work at all. Here is what I got: 1) a large background element ("canvas") that is activated to be "sensitive to clicks on it" by a button 2) the canvas, if activated, catches all clicks on it and spawns a small child form ("child") within it 3) the child is positioned relative to the mouse click position. If the mouse click was on the right half of the canvas, the child will be positioned 200 pixels to the left of that spot. (On the right if the click was in the left half) 4) every new click on the canvas removes the existing child (if any) and spawns a new child at the new position (relative to the click) The problem: Since the spawned child element is on top of the canvas, a click on it counts as a click on the canvas. Even if the child is outside of the boundaries of the canvas, clicking on it will trigger the action as described in 4) again . This shouldn't happen. =========== CODE: The button to activate the canvas: $('a#activate').click(function(event){ event.preventDefault(); canvasActive(); }); I referenced the above to show you that the canvas click-catching is happening in a function. Not sure if this is relevant... The question is: How can I prevent a click inside of a spawned child from executing the function? I tried getting the child's dimensions and doing something like "if posClick is within this range, don't do anything" - but I can't seem to get it right. Perhaps someone has come across this dilemma before. Any help is appreciated.

    Hello I create my custom WM encoder profile. The reason I need a custom, non standard WM profile is that I need that the video resolution must be the same as input video stream. I created below profile but after I encode my video and audio with it, the WMP while loading says that the WMV1 codec is not found and prompts me for downloading WM encoder codecs.   • [Javascript] Prevent an element from being the target in a document mouseover

    I'm building an firebug-like inspection tool for my page. When the mouse enters an element, the element should be highlighted. Now I'm creating an element which I position absolute on top of the target element, this however means the next mousemove event (which is bound to the document) will fire with the actual "highlight element" as the target. Is there a way to prevent the "highlight element" from being the target element in the mousemove event? The element already has a transparant background.

    So whenever I write code I always think about the performance implications. I've often wondered, what is the "cost" of using a memcopy relative to other functions in terms of performance? For example, I may be writing a sequence of numbers to a static buffer and concentrate on a frame within the buffer, in order to keep the frame once I get to the end of the buffer, I might memcopy all of it to the beginning OR I can implement an algorithm to amortize the computation.
