• C# Class Instantiation Overflow

  Scenario I have a C# Win Forms App, where the Main Form contains a loop that creates 3000 Instances of another form (Form B). Inside Form B there are a large number of properties and fields and a bunch of methods that do a fair amount of processing. Question Will the creation of 3000 of these classes give me problems? I'm thinking along the lines of memory exceptions? I've had 1 or 2 already, and I've also had an exception that says something along the lines of "Something went bang and this is usually a sign of corrupt memory somewhere else". Setup I'm using a DevExpress Ribbon Form and I haven't implemented Dispose on anything....Do I need to? Help greatly appreciated.

  In my current project I noticed that all class fields and variable inside methods are declared with final modifier whenever it's possible. • UIWebView in multithread ViewController

  I have a UIWebView in a viewcontroller, which has two methods as below. The question is if I pop out(tap back on navigation bar) this controller before the second thread is done, the app will crash after [super dealloc], because "Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread.". • Changing folder names in Visual Studio when using SVN

  I am using VS2008/VS2010 with Resharper 5, TortoiseSVN 1.6.8.19260-x64, and AnkhSVN 2.1.8420.8. Most operations I do in Visual Studio are reflected fine in SVN, however, renaming folders in a project can cause problems when I try to submit my changes. Also all the namespaces in the C# source files under the renamed folder need to be updated to reflect the name change. What is the best way to rename the main project folder or any sub folders and ensure there are no issues with SVN? Should it be done outside Visual Studio? What is the best way to update all the namespace changes? Is search/replace the only way? Are there any best practices regarding folder names and their contents?

• Accessing NHibernate Repository using ASP.NET Ajax WebMethod

  Hi there! on my page I have a save button that gets the values from the form and then saves it in the database using NHibernate. This works using ASP.net postback buttons. I have now added an Ajax WebMethod to make things sleek and quicker. Howver, when trying to access the data in the repository it doesn't seem to get it. I am passing in the correct values, and everything looks the same as when you are using the postback but no Joy! I should point out here that I'm a newbie with NHibernate and I'm working with someone elses code. • Linking Libraries in Xcode

  Hey all, I'm using a powerbook (osx 10.5) and recently downloaded and installed FFTW 3.2 (link text). I've been able to compile and run some simple programs based on the online tutorial using the terminal: g++ main.cpp -lfftw3 -lm however, I can't get the same program to compile in Xcode. I get a linking error, "symbol(s) not found". There is a file called libfftw3.a in /usr/local/lib. How can this be linked? Furthermore, apparently the libraries have to be linked in a particular order, i.e. see: link text thanks for any help

I have a solution with 3 project in it all written in c# and I with LINQ. One project is the main web site, the other is the data layer (communication with the database) and the third one is a custom little CMS. The problem is the following: On a hosting provider when I publish the site it all works perfectly, but this site was needed to be hosted on the client server so I needed to do that. So far I have tried the following: -setting time out on connection string to a higher value -configuration and after that turning off server firewall -checking the connection string over and over again (they are the same for all three projects and are saved in web.config) Important notes: I have tried executing the project from VS2008 with a connection string to the same database and the results are the same. • Code jumps out of a jar and runs? What is causing this?

  I am trying to get a sample program working with JUNG, a graphing tool in Java. I downloaded and referenced all the .jar files in eclipse so my project hierarchy looks like this: In Test.java I have the following code: public class Test { static public void main() { System.out.print("Hello"); }} For some reason though when I try to run it as a Java Application by right clicking on Jung test in the project hierarchy I am presented with a bunch of classes. My Test.java isn't on the list so if I just leave it as ** and press ok it starts running a program that is dynamically adding nodes and vertexes to a graph. I can't seem to figure out what code its actually executing. I know java but stuff like this with the jar files seems to be getting lost on me. Any ideas? Thanks

  Hello I want to know, how does the linux kernel do some stuff (receiving a tcp packet). In what order main tcp functions are called. I want to see both interrupt handler (top half), bottom half and even work done by kernel after user calls "read()". How can I get a function trace from kernel with some linear time scale? I want to get a trace from single packet, not the profile of kernel when receiving 1000th of packets. Kernel is 2.6.18 or 2.6.23 (supported in my debian). I can add some patches to it.

  Hi there. I require a simple work queue type system for asynchronous task management. I have looked at both beanstalkd and gearman. However, both these seem to assume that the client and the queue server are on the same network, and therefore that there will always be a reliable network between them. I need one that can support the client and server being in different places in the world, and be able to manage temporary loss of network connection between clusters. Ideally, this would work in such a way where I post a job to a local proxy that attempts to send it to the main queue server. If there is no network connection, it would try again later, however it would not lose the job or delay the client. Any recommendations?

  Please, look at this example. I intend making horizontal layout with pure html/css, don't bother of old browsers. I made it with display: table technique. But displaying main text containers (light-yellow) became a problem. Each of this has overflow: hidden to prevent vertical scroll. Later, I intend adding some shadow effect at the bottom. Now, I want to make in, for example, 80% height with 10% margin top and bottom. But what I get is container with larger text stretching all parents container (light-green), so 80% of it became too much. Is there any way to avoid it without javascript? • How do I add a reference to a Web Application Project in an Associated Class Library?

  I'm working on an internet application that has been set up as a web SITE project (I know...) in Visual Studio. I need to add additional features/functionality so have added a class library to the project and referred to it in the main web site project. The issue now arises because I need to make use of core objects which live inside the App_Code directory in the web site project but this project doesn't appear to expose its DLL like web app/ code library projects do. Because of this I can't add a reference to the web site project in the class library to leverage the common site-wide code/objects. I can't move the stuff out of App_Code so I'm looking for a way to refer to the website project dll from the new class library. Can anyone suggest a workaround? All help v. gratefully received :-)

• Javascript: Can't control parent of descendant nodes.

  I'm creating elements (level 1) dynamically which in turn create elements (level 2) themselves. However, the children of level 2 elements have "body" as their parent. In the HTML code below, the content if spotAd2 is created by my function createNode(). It's a Google Ad Sense tag. However, the Google Ad Sense tag create elements that went directly under "body". • eclipse: how to debug a Java program as a .jar file?

  I use ant for creating .jar files in Eclipse. Works great. I have a .jar file I am working on that expects the code to be in a .jar file (it looks for .properties files in the same directory as the .jar file) -- the standard Eclipse "Run" and "Debug" menus execute the main() method of a specified Java class... but they do it from the directory containing the compiled class files, not a jar file. Is there a way to change this behavior so Eclipse runs code from the appropriate .jar file instead? (My workaround right now is to run the .jar file externally, with it suspended waiting for a debugger, per Dave Ray's answer to one of my other questions.)

• Choosing connectionstring in VB.NET application at startup

  I have a VB.NET application with a connection to an SQL Server 2003. On the server there are two databases, MyDatabase and MyDatabase_Test. What I would like to do is to show a dialog when the program starts that let's the user choose which database to use. My idea is to create a new form as the starup form that sets this property and then launches the main form. Currently the connectionstring is specified in the application config file. Best would be if I can specify two different connection strings in that file to choose from, but for now it is also acceptable with other solutions like hardcoding the two connectionstrings into the startup form.
