• Lenovo Mini Wireless Keyboard N5901: Remap orange "My Computer" button

  I have a Lenovo Mini Wireless Keyboard N5901 (a.k.a. Part No. 57Y6336) that I'm using with an HTPC running Windows 7. The remote comes with an orange button in the top-left corner that by default, when pressed, opens the Windows "My Computer" window. I would like to remap / reprogram this button to act like the green "Windows Media Center" button instead on a Windows Media Center (WMC) remote; that is, open Windows Media Center if it isn't already open, or go to the WMC homepage if WMC is already open. I've tried several keyboard-remapping utilities (as recommended in other, more general "how to remap keyboard key?" SuperUser.com questions) including SharpKeys, Key Mapper, and KeyTweak, with no luck so far. None of these utilities recognize the orange button -- they all do recognize that some key was pressed, but display a value for the key of "unsupported" or something similar. I was able to use a utility called Keyboard Scan Code Generator to determine that a press of the orange button has a KeyData value of 16777217 (0x1000001), and a "Virtual Code" value of 182. (The other "media" buttons on the N5901 have the same KeyData value, but different Virtual Code values). I'm not sure at this point where in Windows this keystroke is being interpreted as a command to open "My Computer." There is no special software / driver for this device; it worked out of the box with Windows 7, no special driver install necessary. Is there any way to accomplish this? • Toshiba Portege M400 screen rotation not working under Windows 7 x64

  I have installed Windows 7 on my Toshiba Portege M400. This in itself was relatively tricky.* However, the button utilities aren't quite working for me. One of the buttons tries to launch the Toshiba Assist program, which doesn't appear to be available under Windows 7 for the M400, but this I can live without. More important is that the screen won't rotate as it is supposed to when you hold the "cancel" (X in a circle) button on the bezel. The PC is set to run "C:\Program Files (x860\Toshiba\Toshiba Rotation Utility\phtrot.exe". There is a "trot.exe" file in the same directory (the former appears to be to cause slightly different behaviour when rotation is done by press and hold). Neither of these programs rotates the screen either by using the buttons or from the command line. The screen is rotating normally when switching from tablet to laptop mode, so there does not appear to be an inherent problem with rotation. I'd just like to be able to use the buttons on the side of the screen to change the screen orientation. Windows XP used to have a "setrot" utility to do this, but that seems to have gone in Windows 7 Thanks for your help. *Just in case anyone comes looking for how to do this, you need to extract driver files from http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/util_raid_os2007252a.exe, which does not seem to be listed among the available files for the m400. This executable contains the SATA interface drivers that will need to be loaded by the installer before it can see your hard disk drive. It needs to be unpacked and the files copied to a USB key which they can then be loaded from in the install process. The utilities etc. for installation post windows install are all available from the Toshiba USA support website.

  I have been researching all day. Here is what I have done: In C:/PHP/php.ini and C:/PHP/php-cgi-fcgi.ini I have made the extension_dir = "C:/PHP/ext" I uncommented extension=php_openssl.dll I went to http://windows.php.net/download/ and got the thread safe version with the PHP 5.4 (5.4.8) version of DLL's In C:/PHP/ext I replaced the php_openssl.dll with the one I downloaded In System32 and SysWOW64 I added the following DLL's ssleay.dll libeay.dll I restarted the IIS server in the Server Manager under Web Server and stopped and started the World Wide Web Publishing Service That didn't work, so I tried same thing with the unthreaded versions. • Caused by: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error

  I running JSP on Oracle 11g, Weblogic 10.3.4. I have 2 managed server and a oracle admin server installed. I am encountering an error where intermittently the log file of the 2 managed server and admin server will show java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error. The application can run for 2 days without showing this error or it can show up a few times in a day. The server load are similar everday. When this error is been encountered, the server will just stop accepting connections and will not be able to access the application. Even if I try to access the application through localhost, I will not be able to access the JSP pages and a 503 http status is shown but then I am able to access the static HTML page. I will not be able to access the Oracle 11g Weblogic admin console page. When I take a look at admin server log, it shows that the managed servers are disconnected from the admin server and vice versa. Magically the application is able to recover by its own and the application is able to access again or I need to restart the server as restarting the service of the application does not work. The FTP connections that the application is connected to are closed as well. I am able to ping to telnet to the server port. The event log doesn't seem to be leaving any information. We did run wireshark to see the packet traffic and it seems that the application port is sending a RST, ACK packet to the load balancer. Any kind help will greatly be appreciated. • Alternatives to ntbackup

  Is anyone aware of any good (for a given value of "good") alternatives to ntbackup? There's a few quirks with ntbackup that I still find odd, and occasionally (and for no obvious reason) ntbackup just doesn't back up - usually complaining about that the wrong tape's inserted even though it's been told to just use the tape that's in the drive regardless. I've experiemented with cygwin's tar and cpio and Win32 ports of these utilities, but I've not had any luck getting them to see the tape device (so if someone does use these utilities to write to a tape device, also be interested to know how). Essentially all I'm looking for is a reliable program that I can tell to back-up a list of locations to the tape, and not to care about anything like formatting tapes, or sticking volume labels on them (and conversely then makes it fairly straightforward to restore off as well). On the flip-side, I don't want something that will attempt to manage our tapes. Don't get me wrong here -- ntbackup can do the job, but its quirks are making look at possible alternatives. Any suggestions? If it's open source, even better.

You can create and delete DB Instances, define/refine infrastructure attributes of your DB Instance(s), and control access and security via the AWS Management Console, Amazon RDS APIs, and Command Line Tools. Multiple MySQL databases or SQL Server databases (up to 30) or Oracle database schemas can be created on a given DB Instance. The last part of that quote, "Multiple MySQL databases or SQL Server databases (up to 30) Oracle database schemas" I interpret to mean that you can have an "unlimited" number of databases on an RDS MySQL or Oracle instance but only 30 databases on an MS SQL Server instance ("unlimited" meaning not limited by the RDS infrastructure itself). This was asked in the Stackoverflow question Does Amazon RDS support multiple databases per instance?. The answer quoted an older version of the FAQ. What I am looking for is an Amazon document that clarifies this question, or else someone who has experience using Amazon RDS who can attest what the situation actually is.

• Why can't I boot in to Windows Recovery Environment to fix my HDD or salvage my data?

  I've been trying to get in to WindowsRE to salvage the files on my Sony Vaio laptop after it failed to load Vista (it finally, consistently displays "Error loading operating system" after months of such intermittent failures, usually rectified via restarts or utilizing Startup Repair or CHKDSK from WindowsRE) . The problem is, after successfully accessing it once after this failure (and many times before over the course of the laptop's life), I can no longer get it to load. During the last successful access (right after the failure), I ran startup repair, which itself failed and notified me that the boot sector was corrupt. I attempted to head in to Sony's proprietary recovery tools menu, which is accessible from WindowsRE when it is loaded from the recovery partition or recovery disk, however it hung. I have since been unable to access the recovery environment after restarting, using any of these methods: Access via the recovery partition (pressing F10 on boot) Access via recovery DVD (created using the same computer when it was healthy) Access via a Windows Vista installation DVD All three methods produce the same results: The computer acknowledges the boot attempt The computer successfully gets passed the "Windows is loading files" screen The computer successfully gets passed the Windows loading screen The computer then stalls at a black screen, while showing HDD activity (via indicator light). After a few minutes, the HDD activity ceases, and after a few more minutes, the over sized cursor that is utilized in WindowsRE appears on the black screen. The actual recovery environment, however, never appears, even after leaving the computer in such a state overnight. What is fustrating is that other bootable utilities, such as SeaTools for DOS and MemTest, boot up and run fine. In running perfectly normally, MemTest was able to produce a plethora of errors utilizing my RAM. I'm inclined to believe the RAM's faultiness may causing the WindowsRE booting to fail. Would this be a valid assumption? If I'm not mistaken, booting from external media utilizes the RAM, so such a reason is plausible, assuming my knowledge of bootloading is correct. Other than that, I can't figure out any reason why all the bootable utilities except WindowsRE run fine. Does anyone know what the problem is, or could be? Any solutions?
